Mary is incredibly friendly, attentive, and makes you feel genuinely welcome from the moment you sit down. She's also very knowledgeable about the menu, gave great recommendations, and made ordering easy. She checks in at all the right times without being overbearing, keeps everything running smoothly, and brings such a positive energy to the whole experience. It's rare to find service this consistently great, but Mary truly stands out. If you're dining here, I highly recommend asking for her--you won't be disappointed!

Eggs prepared exactly as ordered, quality bacon and sausage, huge and fluffy blueberry pancakes, cinnamon rolls that are worth the trip all by themselves, and lots of great coffee. We enjoyed having (Delta) Dawn as our server both days. She was fun, attentive and made recommendations that were outstanding. The place was much busier this morning, and happy and smiling Brady was a huge help in getting drinks and condiments. Eat inside or on the patio (weather permitting, of course). Both were great. The new owners have made some nice improvements over the past year, and they were smart enough to "not mess with" the best of the old place (namely the cinnamon rolls and blueberry pancakes)... I got the harvest bowl with sausage for $8. Very reasonably priced, you stand to order and they bring the food to you so no need to tip but you can if you'd like. The harvest bowl was the best breakfast I'd had anywhere in a long time. Very tasty. I also got a few lattes that were tasty as well but a little pricy. I'll definitely be coming back to this hidden gem in cheboygan.

We learned the same family, the Stafford's, have run the hotel since the early 1960s, and it is obvious they have meticulously and lovingly cared for the hotel. Since we were only passing through Petoskey on a coastal road trip from the Upper Peninsula, we only stopped for lunch. Lunch ended up being Sunday Brunch. A medium rare cheeseburger is served well-done Server was very sweet, but not knowledgeable at all. (We really don't blame her at all) We asked about 3 different items, and she was honest about not trying any dishes, maybe new? Day one training should have given staff a taste of signature food so they have something to share with customers. It was also obvious she forgot to put our drink order in and took forever to bring it to us. The place has a great view of the river, but we were so let down after waiting so long to get in. So many spoke so highly of this place, we were really hoping it to be a great experience-but it's really nothing to brag about.
