Bacon jam omlette
Cory M.

The food was very good. It was a bit of a wait but we were expecting that. We had a party of 10 and were able to sit at two separate tables. It is small and cozy but was worth the wait and was happy with everything we were served. The hash-browns were nice and crispy. The bacon jam omelette was a bit sweet..would probably try the other one next time. Everything about the place was great and we would definitely return. The lemon curd pancakes were delicious.

What a cute little gem in Charlevoix! Your experience begins as you walk toward the front door and smell the aroma from the smoker! The staff are very friendly and the food is exceptional.

We love this place. Begging you please please please bring back the burger. Love the dedication to local farmers, slow food that is worth the wait, and the staff is accommodating, respectful and helpful. My daughter wanted something before going to Castle Farms and they did everything to ensure this five year old had some pancakes and bacon :) ...but that burger I had ten years ago still haunts my memory and was sad to see it's no longer on the menu. It was homemade brioche, local made jam, brie and beef from known farm and your bacon (if memory serves me right). If you bring it back I will drive up to Charlevoix that day!!! Cholesterol be damned!

Hands down the best dining experience we have had in Charlevoix. This is our second visit, our first for breakfast. We arrived at 9:00 on a rainy Saturday morning and were seated immediately. The staff is attentive and well-skilled in the art of customer service. They cover for each other to ensure a seamless dining experience. I am a baker and appreciate quality food. This cafe did not disappoint. The bread, including biscuits and jam, are made at the cafe. The meat is fresh-smoked and the sauce was outstanding. Potatoes for the hash are hand grated. Our server warned us that portions were large when we asked about toast. He was absolutely right. We were full and ready for a day outdoors. The price point was close to $50, which is about the same price we have been paying for quality "fast food." This cafe beats our other meals hands down. I wish I had the option of adding bonus stars. For a well-made, delicious meal in a quaint environment where you won't feel rushed, attended to by great people, you can't pass up on Smoke on the Water.

Bacon Jam Omelette with side of Sausage Gravy.

Good food overall. Had the Bacon Jam Omelette. It was good but too sweet for me. Had a side of Sausage Gravy, was good but had a spice/heat component which I found detracts from the taste. I would definitely recommend and visit again to try other items on the menu.

Great food, service and ambiance make Smoke on the Water a must eat triple threat. My wife ordered the Drunken French Toast which had layers of flavor without being overwhelming. My Brisket Hash and Egg was a masterpiece of savory goodness. The quaint patio seating offered glimpses of the lake. Emma's service was the perfect blend of service presence balanced with time to ourselves. Anyone visiting Charlevoix should have this fine dining establishment at the top of their list.

Yum, lemon curd pancakes were great and my husband loved the biscuits and gravy. We had a bit of a wait but it was well worth it.

Decent food, small portion sizes for a very high dollar. We got the goat cheese omelette, made our own omelette and 2 sour cream pancakes.

WOW! What a quaint and wonderful new spot for me. Eclectic, delicious, and unique. We got the…read morebreakfast burrito and the turkey italian. Both came out fresh and quickly. The burrito ($6!) has every ingredient you could want in a breakfast and comes with the most delicious salsa verde. Pictured is only half of it. The italian was on such delicious bread and stacked high. Even the chips were dang good. Coffee here is worth a stop on its own. Cold brew with smoked maple flavor was exceptional. Iced latte better than the average. Highly recommend bringing to the roof and sitting outside.

As she was pouring water in the other's glasses, the waitress said "Your glass just came out of the dishwasher." Not sure why she thought it would make it better, but she did bring another glass. We ordered drinks and it was taking quite a while. She came to the table and said the bar was running really behind. After another while, she said she was about ready to jump over the bar and get the drinks herself. The smoked whitefish appetizer had a minimal amount of crackers for the amount of pate on the plate. Also, we were not told that they were out of anything until one if the dishes was requested (no apology). One of our party had halibut and said it was really good. But she got no vegetable on her dish. My dish was supposed to have mushrooms but came with none. The pear salad got good comments. The rest said the food was just fine. No bread or crackers ahead of time. We were not asked if we wanted anymore drinks. We did get asked about dessert. We declined. Then when she returned she brought one check. She never asked how the bill should be split, so we had to wait for that. All in all, not the experience expected by those that had been there in the past (probably before covid) or for the price charged. Outside of the view, a very disappointing evening.

Cocktails & wines were promptly served followed by their fresh cut slaw and delicious baskets of warm bread. Now our entrees were placed with the waitress and by some error in the pickup line in the kitchen, I received a larger serving of the fried shrimp dinner. Well the other guys at the table suffered when I refused to share the unexpected bounty! Finished the lot with just enough cocktail sauce - perfect finale. As the check was presented, the staff gathered to sing the birthday tune to little brother, who hide his face in embarrassment. Lastly they brought out a decadent Ice Cream concoction which was attached by a pack of Wolves. Love the feel of their bar, main room and banquet space.
