While visiting wineries in the Leelenau Peninsula, a craving for a sandwich struck, and we were lucky enough to happen across Trish's Dishes. The place was nothing fancy - breakfast and lunch, homey and comfortable, and the sandwiches were just what we were looking for. I got the cherry chicken salad, which took one of my favorite sandwiches to the next level. The co-diner got Turkey & Swiss. Both sandwiches came on very fresh bread, brought by our friendly and efficient server. Sandwich prices were quite reasonable (more so than the wraps or salads, which was fine with us). All in all, a nice place to stop for lunch when one is touring northern Michigan's wine country. read more

We were driving through town with our three dogs and needed coffee and food. We had no idea that they were about to close. Whitney was so super extra accommodating and let us set up shop out front. So this place is surprisingly homely and tasty. We popped in for a quick breakfast on the way to a meeting. Had no idea what to expect, but Trish has a pretty nice breakfast menu--eggs, sandwiches, sweets. Tons of coffee options. And the food had flavor! Not just a scramble it and throw it together with some cheese breakfast burrito--there we're herbs like ranch inside. Wish she had better juices than from a can and a few more cooks since she was slammed with phone orders too, but really nice surprise to find this place. read more

Visiting from Chicago and we stumbled upon it while exploring Leland. We first came in for lunch and loved it so much we went back the next morning for breakfast and coffee. Ladies in the front were very nice and helpful. Answered all our questions and even gave us a few suggestions. We had Mabels special & an Italian panini. Both were great. The coffee options are good, though it's not a stand-alone coffee destination. Nice outdoor seating. You can bring your dog along to dine outside with you. Most disappointing experience. We went for something to eat, ordered a panini that listed only feta cheese listed on their written out menu behind the counter, we ordered without feta as my girlfriend is heavily lactose intolerant. Then we were given a panini with provolone cheese on it. Upon returning to the counter my girlfriend was then charged half price for a replacement. On a sandwich they messed up mind you. I tried to get a refund for both but was only given a refund for the half panini. That is absurd. What kind of service is that? You list one thing, serve another, and when the customer questions it, you charge them more to make them what they originally ordered. Do not go here if you have any type of modification requests or even expect to get what you ordered. They will mess it up. read more

Stick to the burritos and other hot offerings for breakfast. The veggie burrito with lemon aioli was delicious with four packets of hot sauce - the eggs were so tender and the panini press crispiness on the tortilla was perfect! But skip the absolutely horrid coffee and pastries. The cherry "scone" was flat, tough, rubbery and only the dried cherries worth eating - perhaps they forgot the leavening today? read more

Stopped in for lunch. Had the egg salad sandwich, chicken salad sandwich, kale salad, iced tea, a peanut butter cookie, and a sugar cookie. The good: -kale salad was delicious The okay: -chicken salad sandwich was not the best, but not the worst. The not so good: -cookies were expensive. Check the price before you purchase. The sugar cookie was tasty, but my companion was underwhelmed by the pb (and he LOVES pb cookies). -the egg salad sandwich filling had a texture like paste, and an odd spice was added. Not tasty. Threw away 1/2 of it (and I hate wasting food). I definitely wouldn't recommend the food here, unless you like mediocre and expensive, served with a side of indifferent service. If you go, I'd stick to the kale salad. read more

If you want breakfast at 11:01 AM, I hope you don't find yourself at Trish's Dishes. Knowing that they stopped serving breakfast at 11AM, we hauled our tushes to get in line and arrived around 10:55, just in time (or so we thought). After waiting behind one other gentleman and getting up to the counter at 11:01 AM. We asked (extremely kindly) if it was still possible to get breakfast. The young woman behind the counter, who had started a conversation with her friend standing behind us while serving the man in front of us, said "Well, it's 11:01, so why not?" in a tone that told us she could not be bothered. We then asked if our other five friends, who were standing a few people behind us in line would also be able to get breakfast and she answered "We probably shouldn't." Learning this we left. This is the second time that we had been to Trish's Dishes and the service was just as unfriendly as before. Being from Michigan, my friends and I take trips to Leelanau Peninsula often and look forward to getting the kind service "Up North" is known for. This is not one of those restaurants. I do not think that they need to bend over backwards to change rules for us, however, this is not McDonald's and a little flexibility would go a long way. However, the two star rating comes from the way the message is provided not that they would not change the rules. I have to admit, the one time I ate here, the salad I had was both interesting and delicious but the taste of the food cannot outweigh the bad taste I have in my mouth from the sour attitude the staff always has. PS. If you open a restaurant that serves breakfast after 11AM on Saturday in Leland, MI, I will be a customer for life. read more

My husband ordered a sandwich with no tomato and no mayo. When he got his sandwich it had both on them. When he got his sandwich it had both...when he took it back, they sent it back and had just taken the tomato off. When he asked if he could get the sandwich or a refund, the cashier just brought his $9.50 back. Terrible customer service. Will never go back here. read more

I love this place! We come every year when we visit TC. Their soups are fresh and so delicious. I had the cherry chicken salad sandwich, as I always do. It's so good. My husband got the Turkey Pesto Panini...he loved it and so did I! We also had the Cream of Chicken and Mushroom soup. We devoured it! The staff are are so nice and welcoming. We haven't been there for breakfast, served until 11am, but I don't doubt it's as good as lunch. Give them a try... you won't be disappointed! read more

I have been to Trish's multiple times and have yet to be very impressed. The sandwiches and salads are good but the experience is always ruined by very rude service. I always make sure to say "please" and "thank you" but the people at the counter seem very inconvenienced by the fact that I am even there. I have been with medium sized groups as well and have heard multiple people comment that they thought the service was very off putting. If you are picking up some coffee or a sandwich it is worth the convenience. Just don't expect a friendly northern Michigan smile. read more

Food is bland. Went once, for was mushy and tasteless. A friend "picked some up", not worth eating. Did not try again. Three years later I figured they couldn't mess up oatmeal. I was wrong. Tasted as if it had come out of an envelope (instant), mixed with tepid water. And not really even mixed. Gross. read more

Make sure to read their menu online and not in the restaurant because it's incorrect. There's more ingredients than they list on their board and if you have a food intolerance and can't have what the ingredient they didn't mention on the board, they'll charge you to replace it. $14 spent on a panini and I didn't get to eat any of it. Stopped to grab a sandwich on the way home from the doctor's. I ordered the ham and brie with apple on a ciabatta with NO MUSTARD. I was emphatic at the order about the mustard and asked again to make sure she heard me and it registered. I live about 30 minutes from Trish's so didn't check the sandwich until I got home - sure enough, there was mustard. I just called to let them know and the guy who answered the phone just said he'd let Trish know. No offer to replace it next time I'm in or anything. It looks good but I don't eat mustard so no telling how the food is. Disappointed as it was almost a $9 sandwich, and that's with NO CHIPS OR SODA. Sigh, missing the old bread shop that was in this location..... UPDATE: Trish just called and DID offer a gift certificate to replace the sandwich - which I do appreciate. I will try them again and update my review accordingly..... UPDATE 2: Went in and no one had any record of my gift certificate and Trish wasn't there so it was a wasted trip. The food is good, the place is cute and cozy, the prices are reasonable. But definitely agree that the service is grumpy. I ordered a cheese omelet and asked them to add tomatoes to it and they told me they "don't do substitutions at this time of year". REALLY?!?! How difficult would it have been to throw a few tomatoes in an omelet to give your customers what they want. It's like they go out of their way to be unaccommodating and difficult, which is not good in a service business. After I ordered I watched another man place an order and he asked for something different also and got the same answer, he walked out without ordering. You have to understand that when people are paying for a product from you, you have to give them what they want and they may not like things exactly as you have designed them. Before I ordered, I was looking at the menu thinking I would come back for lunch another day, but by the time I was done ordering and realized I could not get my meal the way I wanted it, I decided I would not come back! This place is adorable and in a great location, it has so much potential, but you are literally running customers off with rude and poor customer service.
