We've eaten breakfast here all week long. When you walk in the door, immediately you notice how beautiful and inviting the interior is. We've had a variety of breakfast dishes.. all are DELICIOUS!!! The best part of all our time here is definitely Laurie. She's the heart and soul of our dining experiences. She's has a great rapport with her customers and is fabulous with everything having to do with our meals. Good Harbor Grill doesn't look like it'd be a delicious game to table restaurant, but it is! Amusingly, when searching for a place for dinner, we glanced at the menu and passed on GHG, as we felt it was too pricy. But, after staying in the area for a week, we learned everything is pricy up here lol. After passing it up, the owner of the tea shop recommended GHG, so we took our hanger here, and I'm glad we did. It was fun and unexpected when choosing a salad dressing they bring you the entire bottle, even if you're the only person at your table using that kind of dressing. Pros: Chill vibes Good wine list Excellent quality of food. The whitefish was better prepared than what I had in Leland! Cons: Just the price. Was a high quality meal, and the price reflected that. Favorite place I ate during my week in Glen Arbor! Walking past, I thought this was a small restaurant and looked past it. I'm so glad we came! It is so cutely decorated on the inside, like a perfect vacation restaurant. As it closes at 3pm, it gives an opportunity for a yummy and healthy lunch that leaves you feeling great after. They are very conscious of vegan and gluten free options. I got the adult grilled cheese with gluten free bread and added avocado. It was delicious! We arrived around 1:00pm local time on a Fourth of July holiday week. We were seated immediately upon walking in. We were lucky as the place was packed, we got the only open table. It took awhile to get our menus but as busy as they were it wasn't surprising. It didn't take us long to make our orders. And the food made it appearance in what seemed like reasonable time considering how busy they were that day. I chose to get a Stormcloud Rainmaker Ale for my drink with lunch. I really like the bold taste, just what I'd expect from an Ale. And I've been to the Brewery in Frankfort where the beer was brewed. All of that made me confident I would enjoy the beer. Which I did a great deal! My granddaughter loved her chicken fingers and chips! She ate the whole bunch and her chips! Surprisingly as she is a finicky eater. My clam chowder bowl was very delicious! Plenty of clams and potatoes, delicious too! My step-daughter had a vegan wrap. It was pretty tasteless however. Not surprisingly however as many restaurants don't know how to cook flavorful vegan items. My wife salad was quite good with the raspberry dressing. Plenty of verity and all very fresh! Because of the time of day and the holiday the atmosphere was definitely that of a very busy restaurant/Grill. Hectic and loud, but we were well taken care of while at the establishment. I was really hoping to enjoy my first visit here, but the food just didn't deliver. I got the Tea Spice Chicken--it was fine, but nothing special. The biggest letdown was the green beans. They weren't seasoned at all, which made the whole dish feel lazy and overpriced. If I'm paying that much for dinner, I expect at least the basics like seasoning and effort. Honestly, the only thing I enjoyed was the salad--it was fresh and actually tasted like some thought went into it. Visited this cozy little gem during a bike ride on 8/9/2022 around Glen Arbor and the Sleeping Bear Dunes for lunch. The other dining places in town were all packed. Take a look at the offerings, all well prepared and delicious. Our waitress, Abby, was very attentive. Several years ago we had breakfast here and it was very good too. Next time we will try dinner. We were staying in the area for a couple weeks and enjoyed Good Harbor Grill a number of times. On our third visit which happened to be Labor Day we decided to eat a late lunch at around 2:00 PM. We always ate outside as we had our dog with us. There were very few customers as lunch was ending at 3:00 PM. There were two servers on the porch for two tables. We placed our orders and received our drinks expeditiously. I ordered the fish sandwich and my wife a salad with the same blackened whitefish. Additionally we ordered two more drinks. The drinks never arrived. I had to remind my waitress when she brought my lunch entree. While delivering my order the waitress said my wife's order would take a couple more minutes as they didn't have any fish ready for her salad. Thinking her lunch would come shortly I started to eat my sandwich in which the fish was not hot....almost cold. I didn't complain. I finished my lunch and my wife's had not arrived nor did we see the waitress. Finally, after waiting 25 minutes her lunch arrived. With it was a piece of bread....with no butter. I had to go inside to find the waitress who was sitting in a booth staring at her phone with the other waitress. One of the waitresses provided some butter and immediately sat down to staring at her phone. My wife ate her lunch and wanted a box to take a portion home. I again got up to go inside to ask for a box and our bill. The waitress acted as though I was bothering her. She said she would have to bring the bill outside which she did after 10 minutes or so. She dropped the bill off but never returned....so I again had to go inside to pay. By that time I was exasperated! The staff on that day were NOT INTERESTED in providing service. It was after 3 PM and they acted as though they were DONE working. When the waitress finally brought my wife's lunch she claimed 'somebody stole your salad" as the reason for its lateness. Sad to say the service was HORRENDOUS. Prior to this visit the service was pretty good especially considering how busy the restaurant was. I felt I had to write this review to warn other customers how bad the service might be so they won't feel fleeced like I did on a holiday weekend. read more

Good solid family restaurant. All dinners include a very nice salad with a mix of fresh vegetables and choice of several dressings and a loaf of fresh bread. You can have as much as you like. For dinner I choose the blackened whitefish which had potatoes and green beans. The beans tasted very fresh. The fish was cooked nicely. My only criticism would be to add a little more salt. Blue cloth napkins, local fresh wildflowers in blue vases on the table. Sailboat, fish and beach picures and maps adorn the knotty pine walls, reminding patrons that lake Michigan's Sleeping Bear Bay is just yards away out back. We popped in straight up noon on a Sunday and surpringly were seated right away. Table turnover and setup is quick. Outside tables are available, but inside is where the action happens. You can see the kitchen staff at work and check out all the servers hustling to get the food on the table. They work fast! We missed breakfast (service stopped at 11.30) but we got bacon on the Turkey Avocado Sandwich, so it was almost the same as breakfast! Turkey is thick, carved slices of breast. We also ordered a half a regular turkey sandwich (same bread and thick slices if meat) and cup of potato leek soup which was absolutely delicious! Menu board said local peach shortcake available for dessert. Talk about locally sourced ingredients - the family owners also own the nearby Glen Arbor Bakery which supplies the bread. $4 latte was delicious. Coffee is Higher Grounds from nearby Traverse City, fair trade and organic. About half my normal serving size, but more refreshing to my wallet than ordering 2. Great place for casual dining. Great service and great food! Nothing like a scratch kitchen in Northern Michigan. Good Harbor Grill really delivers. Our server was outstanding, it was definitely not her first summer at the Grill. She took our drink order, explained the specials and made us feel at home. Tuscan bean soup was lacking flavor but the salad with homemade dressing and main courses more than made up for it. Very accommodative of the various allergies we had at the table. Salad was full of fresh vegetables and all the dressings are homemade and outstanding. Had the white fish broiled with paprika, salt and pepper and it was outstanding. Corn on the cob and wild rice really rounded out the meal. Finished off with a cheese cake for the table (not pictured) which was fresh and delicious. Overall, we got to hear the music at Boonedocks but had much better food. A win, win all around!
