My husband and I visited Poppycocks and had an amazing time! The food was great, and our server was phenomenal. I am dairy-free and had quite a few options - I ended up ordering the dirty fries to share and the Brussel sprouts as my main dish. The fries were amazing and the Brussel sprouts were good... not the best I've ever had, but that's due to personal taste (I prefer a bit more savory, whereas the sauce had sweet notes). My husband ordered the honey-mustard glazed pork with pumpkin puree (the social). Between the fries and his entree, he said that it was the best meal that he's had in a long time! The drinks were also great. I ordered the mule and was super impressed. Some places make them too sweet, but this was perfectly balanced.

Tonight I met with a few colleagues for the first time here and it didn't disappoint. The service was speedy and on top of everything. The food was amazing. I got the short rib and would recommend it if you are visiting. For dessert I got the tiramisu which was a little bit different than a standard tiramisu and it was really good and would recommend that as well. Overall, a very good restaurant with good food and service.

Poppycocks was outstanding! We cannot wait to come back here again on another trip to Traverse City. The food was phenomenal and gigantic portions. The drinks were delicious and the servers were amazing. The place was buzzing with people even on a Wednesday night and we really enjoyed our time. We shared the brussel sprouts and soup as an appetizer and then I got the shrimp and grits and my husband ordered the chicken. The bruseel sprouts were spiced well and the chili coconut sauce qas amazing! The entrees were also exceptional. Everything was cooked to perfection and I loved the spice on the shrimp and the delicious additions to the grits. I also tried the caprese chicken and the chicken was melting off the bone with delicious pearl couscous made with a pesto sauce.

Everything we had was awesome! The service was great! What more can I say?! From the outside we thought it was gonna be a diner style restaurant. It was more of American/curry infused cuisine. It worked really well. The banh mi fries are a must! Brussels sprouts really good. Ham potato soup epic. Burgers were great. Chocolate cake was a perfect ending. My buddy really enjoyed his old fashioned.

It's not often you find a restaurant that has an entire section of their menu for vegetarian and even vegan options!! We started with the veggie tostadas, very good! I had a hard time deciding on my entree with so many well curated options, but I went with the Aloo Gobi curry which was delicious!! My husband had the market steak (pretty reasonably priced) and he loved that as well! It is a smaller restaurant, so there are tables in odd nooks to make more dining space, but I think that adds to their eclectic menu and space. It seemed like we got there right before the Friday night dinner rush. We received all of our food promptly, but not too fast, and we didn't feel rushed to get out of there.

Thank me later! Go in, sit at bar (bartenders are amazing) order the vanilla lemon drop martini, next order the pita chips w the three dips (youve never had pita chips like this!!) then when your bartender asked for your orderpretend like the short ribs are the only item on the menu - then wait patiently for chef Mary to provide the most amazing meal you will ever have! Ummmmm you're welcome!!

OMG! I had the best martini there! Tried to go a second time But they were closed to a private party. Oh well guess next time We are in town. Food was great! Loved the tomatoes, spinach soup & whitefish cakes. Everything was great. Service was perfect they were busy that night and we got there a little late but it was just perfect for us!

Always an amazing dinner experience. Unique and tastefully done entrees. I highly recommend. Be patient as there is usually a wait.

Good service. Lunch until 4pm. Had a tasty blood orange martini and the whitefish cakes for an appetizer were delicious. Shared the key lime shrimp and a grilled cheese. Both very good.

In TC for the Bayshore Marathon, first time visitor to Poppycocks for the dinner menu. Tables jammed with an hour wait, but a seat opened up at the bar, stomach said "do not wait" so I settled in and was greeted by a lovely lady who must have been the bar manager (sorry I did not get your name). A food Angel who attended to my need and was ever so gracious. Selected the Lamb Ragu dish and was met with Pasta Perfection! No room for desert but a succulent looking selection. Hope there is a next time Thx for the great dining experience.

The seafood stew here is amazing. Broth is to die for and could drink it, it was so good! My husband and I split the whitefish cakes and an appetizer and those were so flavorful. The green sauce with them is sweet but savory. My husband for the beef stroganoff and it was lack luster sadly. It came out room temp, super soupy, and little to no flavor. Not sure what happened there, but was bummed. Would recommend this place to anyone and we have taken our out of town family here numerous times!

There were six of us in our group at a table, and you could only hear the person directly next to you. Our group had a reservation and were seated immediately. The restaurant is small, and the tables are very close together and felt packed in. They do have a small roped off 'patio' area on the side walk with a couple of tables. I thought the service was fine, others in the group felt it was poor (probably because no one could hear her and we had to repeat ourselves). The server did recommend that we share several dishes as a table as they are small plates. We ordered the bread and the three vegetable appetizers to start. Here is where it is hard to review: all of the appetizers were fantastic, interesting and fresh preparations. From the light courses section, we had the bougie corn dog and the duck pasta. I'm not a fan of corn dogs, I thought it was fine, but pretentious and not worth ordering, others liked it. I did like the duck pasta. The mushroom tart was boring, dry, and forgettable (side note that if you are in Detroit, Le Supreme's is absolutely fantastic, so this can be memorable). The other stand out was the walleye main, their use of curry made it an interesting, as well as delicious, dish. We all thought the halibut was awful, it arrived with a fishy smell, but was then somehow flavorless. If we were not all splitting it, it would be a send back dish. Overall, the dishes ranged from flavorful and interesting, to terrible. No member of our group felt they would return, and I would recommend against it due to the noise level, it really was that bad. Every sound echoed off of every hard surface. As a result, it just was not an enjoyable experience.

It's an old house that has been transformed into a burger destination. The inside is cramped, especially in the order area when they're busy, and indoor seating is tough to come by at peak times. The service has never been anything short of excellent on our visits. The staff is welcoming, helpful, patient, and friendly. Service is quick, even when they're slammed. Phenomenal burgers, O-rings, tots, and sweet potato fries. The Northwood's DRAFT (not fountain) root beer is a perfect pairing with their burgers. Slabtown's menu of specialty burgers is enormous and the BYO options include different protein choices and excellent GF buns. I've tried many of their burgers, but have to say that the Slabby Patty on a pretzel bun and the Pungi's Pepper Patty really stood out as a couple of my favorites. For a really sinful (and unhealthy) treat, ask for the gravy tots. Oh brother...insanely good but definitely a guilty pleasure. We've sent tons of our friends and family here, and I can tell you that every one of them has thanked us for the recommendation and raved about their burgers. So what are you waiting for? The ambiance was first-rate: we were seated at a table with a clear view of the waterfront. Service was equal to anything one might expect from a Michelin/starred restaurant: attentive without being intrusive; able to answer most questions or obtain the answer if not known. We had a couple of glasses of wine. The server was helpful in suggesting a glass for each of us that matched our meals well. And speaking of the meals: We shared the cacio y pepe, which was a plentiful (almost too plentiful) serving of romaine lettuce, covered - a bit to excess --with a dressing. The dressing was tasty, but a bit less might have improved the dish. The co-diner got the seafood dumpling appetizer. The soup had a nice broth, and the dumpling was nicely flavored. Unfortunately, it also came with a chile, the heat of which tended to overwhelm the rest of the dish. For our mains, the co-diner got a salmon entree. He thought the salmon selected for the dish was quite a bit "fishier" in taste than the salmon we like to cook at home. The way the salmon was cooked was fine. It would have improved the dish if a better quality of salmon had been used. I ordered the rack of lamb, medium rare. It arrived, and was very rare - so much so that the inner pieces were borderline raw: not what I asked for. The lamb could also have been trimmed a bit, as the fat was clearly visible as a large part of the dish. It came with some nice mushrooms, and a green sauce made from pulverized veggies - very good. For dessert, we shared a piece of spice cake, with tart cherries and mascarpone. Our server also brought us a bonus dessert of a fluffy cheesecake with salted caramel topping, and ginger snaps on the side. Must say, the desserts were the highlight of the meal. All in all, while the front of the house reached a high level, the back of house fell a bit short of what one might expect from a restaurant of that quality.
