As a first time visitor to Traverse City, this restaurant was recommended to my family and I. We went for a late bite to eat around 9pm. The hostess was very friendly and seated us right away. Our waitress was kind, knowledgeable, and attentive. We ordered some drinks that came out quickly and some appetizers that came out shortly after. I got the salmon bites which was a good portion. I didn't particularly like the sauce that was drizzle on it but overall the dish was fresh. The restaurant has a cozy ambiance that was perfect for a rainy evening. Overall it was an enjoyable experience, but I would try other restaurants in Traverse City before returning.

Should probably address that we didn't have reservations but bc they had a cancellation, they offered us a table at 845! We were so grateful for their kindness and service! Lots of parking on the street or in a lot across the way, but easily to access! Great lobby to wait until our table was ready... our table was much larger than our party but we made the most! Eddie with the best humor received our group and made a very positive experience, however, the food was out of this world!!!! The absolute BEST lobster bisque and filets to be served!!!! Literally melted in our mouths and yes we shared!!!! We ended staying a little past 10 (when they closed) to finish the Silver Oak but we appreciate the staff and all their efforts to help w our dinner! Cheers

INCREDIBLE wedding catering! We had The Tasting Room cater our wedding, and WOW -- people are still talking about how amazing the food was! Every bite was perfect, and the staff couldn't have been more kind or helpful. They made everything run so smoothly and took such great care of us. If you want your guests to leave saying "that was the best wedding food ever," this is the place.

Had great reviews and was mentioned on many blogs so I decided to make a reservation for my solo trip to Traverse City to pick up daughter from Interlochen camp. Unfortunately, the experience was just so so. when I checked in, they weren't sure where to see me for some reason so I got a big booth, which was nice, but no one came to take my order for 15 minutes until I asked the manager who my server was. The manager just ended up taking my order and taking care of me. Unfortunately, they misordered one of the three items. The food was fine, but not what I would expect for a "foodie" joint. Wish I had just gone back to Red Ginger. The ambience is lively if that's what you're looking for.

    Elk Medallions

Chose to do dinner here while in town on business and it did not disappoint! The ambiance was great, a nice chill vibe with dim lighting and an upscale atmosphere. Started with a Belvedere martini with blue cheese olives, it was perfect. For dinner, I started with a side Caesar salad and had the elk medallions as my entree. The food was incredible! Elk is not something you see on the menu every day, so I jumped at the chance to try it. It was tasty and cooked to perfection, not to mention the portion size was massive and could've been shared amongst 2 people. This was a great choice for the evenings dinner! Thank you for a great experience!

They only have space for 22 seats, and it was never full during our visit, it is intimate and welcoming. I made a reservation three months ahead, and obtained a seating for 8pm. We were welcomed warmly, and immediately seated. A mushroom broth "tea" was brought out complimentary. My friend who does not like mushrooms even enjoyed it. The service was perfect. Our server understood how to facilitate a tasting course, and the one very small misstep (under down steak for the member of our party that was pregnant, so it was not a being picky situation) was immediately handled without needing to be asked. The wine sommelier did a beautiful pairing. She offered the right level of presentation. Our group of four did the tasting menu. As they are farm to table, and the menu is constantly changing, it is not beneficial to discuss specific menu items. I do want to say the celery soup was representative of the experience, something I would not think to try or sounded amazing but was. My non dessert eating friend loved her dessert, she actually ate the entire cake. Interesting, creative, but not pretentious. A meal to be remembered.

We made the reservation a month in advance and still had to settle for 8:30 time slot. But it was absolutely worth it! Incredible doesn't begin to explain this restaurant! First, it's in the middle of a neighborhood. The name is perfect because it's literally a house. Very small which explains the need for reservations. The biggest stand out for me was the impeccable service! Your glass is never empty. If you get up, your napkin is promptly refolded. This was absolutely 5 star treatment. You also receive several courses with your meal. The food was OUTSTANDING. The menu changes frequently which is awesome because you'll never get bored. There is an Ala carte menu and a tasting menu. I was told to expect two hours for the 5 course tasting at 3 for the 7 course. Being that it was so late we stuck with ala carte. I honestly can't wait to plan a full tasting but it will have to be well planned out so I can get earlier reservations.

We bellied up to the bar and the tender was full of fresh energy. Very personable and made us feel excited to be there. We started with bloody Mary's and they were great! There were six of us in our group at a table, and you could only hear the person directly next to you. Our group had a reservation and were seated immediately. The restaurant is small, and the tables are very close together and felt packed in. They do have a small roped off 'patio' area on the side walk with a couple of tables. I thought the service was fine, others in the group felt it was poor (probably because no one could hear her and we had to repeat ourselves). The server did recommend that we share several dishes as a table as they are small plates. We ordered the bread and the three vegetable appetizers to start. Here is where it is hard to review: all of the appetizers were fantastic, interesting and fresh preparations. From the light courses section, we had the bougie corn dog and the duck pasta. I'm not a fan of corn dogs, I thought it was fine, but pretentious and not worth ordering, others liked it. I did like the duck pasta. The mushroom tart was boring, dry, and forgettable (side note that if you are in Detroit, Le Supreme's is absolutely fantastic, so this can be memorable). The other stand out was the walleye main, their use of curry made it an interesting, as well as delicious, dish. We all thought the halibut was awful, it arrived with a fishy smell, but was then somehow flavorless. If we were not all splitting it, it would be a send back dish. Overall, the dishes ranged from flavorful and interesting, to terrible. No member of our group felt they would return, and I would recommend against it due to the noise level, it really was that bad. Every sound echoed off of every hard surface. As a result, it just was not an enjoyable experience.
