    Salmon

I've been debating how to write this for a while. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The quality of service, interior, and food is not acceptable for these prices.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]To start, we were seated in a booth that was separated from the wall and broken.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Then the drinks came out and my lychee martini had a wooden pick that goes in a sandwich. The martini itself was okay. Then the fries appetizer came. The special ketchup they brought out tasted like sweet baby rays bbq sauce. We also got the pork belly wontons and they were really awkward to eat and not very good. For the main, I got the salmon and it was incredibly disappointing. There was no crispy sear on the salmon and the rice was way too salty and mushy. Everything tasted like a cheap microwave meal. Also the service started out okay, but towards the end of the night our server basically disappeared. I don't know if they have them working both sides, but he kept saying they "got slammed" while our side of the restaurant emptied out... Also he took at least 20 minutes to bring the bill after we asked for it and when he brought it, it was wrong so we had to wait even longer.

Ate, left no crumbs!! Mellie here loved the carbonara and bread. Will be coming back tomorrow.

Slate is essentially a piano bar physically connected to Sorellina. Nice selection of $13-$15 cocktails and you can order food from Sorellina. Attentive waitstaff and the drinks were on point. Casual vibe but can dress up in the evening.

The best dining restaurant in Traverse City. The wait staff is polite and quick to service. The wine list is extensive with options for everyone. The perfect place for an anniversary. Each dish was full of taste and flavor.

The quality and quantity was not in line with what the prices are. We had an appetizer, 2 entrees, and 4 drinks and it was around $175. Still was hungry after we left. Husband had the prime ribeye which was bland and much smaller than expected. Salmon/rice was nothing special, could've made it better at home. This place really needs to step up their game if they wish to win over the TC clientele. We will NOT be going there again, ever.

AMAZING dinner at Slate, traverse City's new steak house. Started out with the grilled octopus with potatoes and bacon jam - - WOW!!! That could have been a meal right there!! Then I had the sea scallops with roasted watermelon and polenta, Dennis had the bone in fillet which he said was the best he had ever had. Mine was delicious and absolutely the best flavor combination. Our server Andy was amazing and so personable. Pricey but well worth it for a special night out. We will be back!!

I have been twice, since they opened. Both times were awesome! I highly recommend the scallops. And ask for Ed! He's the best.

    What are the prices like?

Dinner entree are mostly in the $30-40 range with generous portions. Side dishes are mostly $6-7 but are more than enough for two people. We had a grilled octopus appetizer that was huge (enough for an entree) that was $15. Not something you…

The ambiance is nice and quiet. Our server Craig was really nice and attentive. We have heard so much about the restaurant from friends and also from all the lists so maybe our expectation was set too high. We liked our food but we weren't blown away. The highlight of our meal was probably the foie gras and the caprese salad. The wild boar tenderloin came in second and I wasn't really impressed with the rainbow trout, the fish itself wasn't very flavorful. Overall I'm glad we were able to experience the restaurant, maybe we'll try it another day with a different menu.

We sat at the bar which was staffed by two very efficient bartenders who did it all. It was nice to be able to see right through to the kitchen from the bar. Really enjoyed the mussel special (not sure if this is always on the menu). The prosciutto fig salad was quite good too but a very small serving size for two people to share as an appetizer. The crostini served with the burrata was very tasty and crispy. The best dish was the fettuccine which has pork ragu and fresh parmesan. This was recommended by our server and it did not disappoint. I only wish there were just a couple more noodles because the amount of meat was very generous. If you're deciding between here and the other Italian place also at the Commons (I don't think I can say it by name) I would actually recommend PepeNero's over that one!!!!

When we called him out for being homophobic, his response was, "So what if I am?" Afterward, the bartender, Jason, was hugging and fist-bumping this same person. Jason then approached us and said there was nothing he could do because "they're regulars, so what can I do?" refusing to move them away from us or cut off the clearly drunk and belligerent man. Instead, he became aggressive when we expressed how upset we were about the situation. Jason later doubled down. When we told him that the safety of the patrons should matter, his response was, "Then you should go dine somewhere else." So please, please listen to him. Do not come here. The food is mid anyway, so you're not missing anything.
