We stopped in for a late lunch after visiting the Dunes. We were able to get a table outside right away. The service was fast and friendly - all young adults. The grounds are very cute with various places to eat. It is very much a Michigan-y restaurant with every way to use cherries carried out. We started with the cherry salsa and chips. The salsa was so good we bought a bottle in the store (the chips were mediocre at best). We then ordered the Republic House Salad with Cherry Balsamic dressing. It was very good. My wife had a grilled chicken sandwich that was just okay. The fries come in a paper bag and are seasoned well - they were great. This place is worth the stop if you are in the area. It is touristy, but in the best way. The food is solid, and the shop and wine shop on the grounds were fun. We bought many items at Cherry Republic to take home. This is a really popular spot just off the M22. We had a bit of wait when we checked in for lunch, so we walked through their shop while we waited. Got a table on the patio which was nice since it was a gorgeous day. Food was good - we had burgers and fries. We weren't traveling with our dog, but many people stopping by did have dogs, and it was really nice that they could sit outside and enjoy lunch with their furry friends!! read more

Mothers Day, they're completely understaffed, not ready for the beautiful day, orders are 45+, even something as simple as soup. They're out of chicken completely. No table service, dirty tables, & they're just overwhelmed. There's other options in Glen Arbor that know how to plan for busy weekends!! What a wonderful experience on our first evening on a girls trip to Glen Arbor. We just got into town and were hungry and ready for a drink too. We sat down and Rebecca took amazing care of us. To start: She heard we were going to have one of us go grab creamer for our coffee the next day, after we ordered. And she brought us half and half cups to save us a trip. At this point we ordered. Service was quick. The drinks and the food hit the spot. Is it true 5 star food? No. I'd say 4 star. But, seriously, having this kindness from Rebecca made it 5 star worthy. We appreciated it and tipped well. And she expressed gratitude for that. As we sat and finished our last bites and sips, she came back over to our table. And she handed us a cherry pie . An entire pie! She said it was a gift to us. What?! Seriously? Yes! She explained that she's able to do that occasionally and that she works for corporate, but that this summer she helped manage the staff at the restaurant. And then said she'd be going back to corporate next week. Anyway, wow! She made our day and night. And we went back a second time this trip as a result. More restaurants need Rebeccas. I was pleasantly surprised by my salad. Truthfully I don't like cherries unless they are maraschino cherries or cherry limeade. But Cherry Republic knows how to fix and blend cherries to be a delight in their food. I'm going to have to try more of their items next visit. I absolutely love this place!!! The burger was absolutely fantastic. It came with a cherry coleslaw that was delicious! We also ordered a basket of fries and they were so good! This yummy seasoning on them that makes them speical! They have done a little redesign in the last couple of years and I love the new layout. Although I do miss the self-service drink station, the food is still awesome. It is on the pricier side but it is Glen Arbor. after all. The staff is always friendly and the food is timely. Great place to eat and spend the evening. It was very busy at 6:30 on an August Saturday night and we were still seated immediately and well taken care of. Burgers were amazing, as was the Mac-and-Cheese with pulled pork. This place has 3 separate buildings, a store, tasting room for wine and restaurant. We had a little something at all of them. We put our name in for a table and had some tasting. It was $5 for six 1 oz pours. They wrote on the little cup and you get a little pie tin to try. We had 14 samples and liked them all. The little lady that is who checked us out was also nice and had a passion for the place. You get 10% off if you get 4 bottles or more. They also have cherry soda for the littles. The restaurant was interesting. You scan and order everything yourself from your phone and they bring it. I liked the chicken salad wrap. The fries were well worth the upcharge. My husband was able to get a chicken sandwich by ordering a burger and subbing out the meat. All was delicious. The store offers free boxing and wrapping, so great options for souvenirs for friends and family. It was a great mix of touristy but hometown feel. read more

Upcharge for beans??!! This place is fun and I should be writing a good review HOWEVER I think it is absolute insanity to be charged an additional $5.00 on top of the normal price of $15.00 for a black bean burger (yes, my veggie burger was 20.50 as I also added pickles). So, substituting beans for meat is an upcharge. I'm not talking about an Impossible burger or a branded veggie patty, a black bean patty. When I asked the reason (honestly wondering if there was one) there was no answer. I understand the $0.50 upcharge for pickles, they are probably tired of seeing customers not eating them (and if so why not just make available upon request?), but a 5 buck upcharge to eat beans is just nonsense. I priced bulk quantities of ground beef and black beans recently, not surprisingly beans are 1/3 of the price of meat. read more

We ordered and shared together the ulled pork sandwich with cherry bbq sauce , Parmesan crusted grilled cheese and public house salad with cherry balsamic vinaigrette and seasoned fries side order. I LOVED the pulled pork with cherry bbq. Fantastic tangy and sweet. The salad was fresh and very delicious. Enjoyed the fries but they did need a little salt. The beer cheese was very good for dipping. You can taste the beer. The Parmesan crusted grilled cheese was ( to quote my wife) so so. She wished she had gotten the Mac and pulled pork. TIP. I would make another trip up here just to eat here again! It was THAT good. The whole place is cherry themed. Cherry beer, soda, lemonade, bacon, wine and ice cream! Just to make a few. There was a separate wine tasting building along with a gift shop. The gift shop featured all kinds of made right there cherry goods. Cherry bbq sauce, salsa and even salad dressing. So cool!!! The pub house offered a nice menu with some kick ass burgers. You can order through a QR code on the table. I thought that was so nice with ordering drinks. Paid our bill and everything through the QR code. So convenient. They offered indoor and outdoor seating. Food came out SUPER fast after ordering. This is also located in the heart of downtown Glen Arbor so a cute little walkable downtown. Parking is a little hard to find but worth it! This place is a cute little tourist restaurant. Very nice ambiance on the patio and the gardens out front are beautiful. We ordered inside and sat outside. We tried the pulled pork and the chicken salad on greens. Both were good. We were riding the Heritage trail on our bikes so I decided to try their homemade soda instead of a beer. They have about 8 flavors, all cherry somehow. I got the cherry cola. It was really good. I've met my soda quota for the year now. read more

We went at 3pm. There were only 2 outside tables left. The outside tables are both in the front and the back of the restaurant with plenty of shade. The inside is bright and lively. The wait staff were very friendly and knew the ingredients in the menu items. Every item on the menu had cherries or cherry flavoring. The food came out within 10 minutes. Everything was well prepared and delicious. My only issue though small is that the silverware is actually plastic ware. There's extra sauces/ condiments on the tables also. Two other buildings on the property were a tasting room and a large gift shop with free tasting of many products. read more

What a nice full or sample dining experience in here back on October 20, 2018 while vacationing in the area. There are three (3) buildings to enjoy here in Glen Arbor, Michigan. The Cherry Republic shopping store, the Cherry Republic Wine Taste and Store, and here at the Cherry Public House for Cherry Food Dining. We stopped in here after visiting the other 2 building stops. There was a light rain to dodge in between walking fast, but it didn't stop us or other hungry vacationers. The décor in here is cool with areas everywhere to see and view no matter where you sit as you wait for your food. After walking in you can place your order at the counter in back or sit down and have a server take your order. We opt for the sit down since after wine sampling it was time to sit still. lol Order the 3 flight sample for $ 4.00 for mini sample tastes of different beers. I did with a porter, "Dead George" cherry ale and their famous "Glen Light" a homemade American Lager. I do not like Porters. There is a dish of peanuts, raisins and other snacks to enjoy with the beer flights. We also ordered to share was the Beer Cheese which was perfectly blended and the fluffy pretzels for dipping. Next we shared an order of the Smoke & Spice Tacos which to me was fantastic with the tang and sweetness throughout the meat. Now for the FIRE BOMB.. the "Little Town Poutine" with cherry sausage from the Cherry Republic Store next door with diced up pieces in the sauce. Little did we know that the sausage used in this casserole dish was the spicy flavored one called "Habanero" . OMG after trying 3 pieces I was done and ate around the sausage to enjoy the fries and sauce. BEWARE & BE prepared!! Or for you hot to handle guys .... go for this dish and chase it with a glass of ??? or Sweat it out. The service was average timing since the place was crazy busy but the flow was moving throughout our visit to eat lightly and drink our flights for lunch. Most of the beers are brewed on the premises so its nice to read the wall of choices. (Photos attached as always). The employees are polite and work hard as well during the Summer and Fall months. I saw some guests enjoying the pulled pork mac and cheese, burgers, salads as well. Need a cool dessert ? to cool off from the poutine lol, then there's an area for a ice cream cone or dish for dessert on your way out at the back of the restaurant which also sells bakery delights. NOTE: On the bottom of one's bill receipt.. A 1% refundable Tariff has been added to your bill. All proceeds go to the Leelanau Conservancy to support farming in our area. Long Live the Cherry ! My chili was less than appetizing and my husband didn't particularly enjoy his barbecue. If you can sit outside, it's a nice little garden spot. But it can get very busy.
