Dessert drinks at Modes

Trixie knows how to mix a perfect brandy alexander while answering the phone and printing out the bill for a six top. Modes is the place to relax in the vintage decor. Locals don't want to share the secret but you'll be sorry if you don't try it. Tip your servers and bartenders well. They are the best.

I absolutely adore the restaurant scenery. I like how they keep it original, cute chairs, and overall ambiance. The staff is nice. The food was good but steak was flavorless, however, I think that's how it's supposed to be. I added the mushrooms to mine and they were tasty. Wedge salad is simple but incredible. Prices are a bit outrageous but it's a nice restaurant.

Traverse Cities oldest steak house, bet it looked like this when they opened. Wife wanted steak and unfortunately a lot of the places up here are closed today or close at 9pm. Dated, small portions my steak had no taste whatsoever, I had to put steak sauce on it and I never do that. Wedge salad was okay, baked potato was tiny and the homemade cherry cheesecake did nothing for me. Seems like it's an older crowd that likes to frequent here, they were probably here for the grand opening in 1975. Service was good, my wife enjoyed her prime rib and I thought mine was mehhh

While server was very good, she wasn't friendly at all, But to be honest that was ok, because she was good at her job. Atmosphere was reminded me of those old fashioned movies from the 50's and 60's dinner club/bar or as my brother in law said, his grandmas basement. The food was good, but not good enough to go back. The four stars are really because the service was good. Otherwise 3 stars for sure.

This place is a local favorite that's been around for a while. You'll have a good meal here, especially if you like meat. Prime rib is great, so is the duck and lamb. Can't go wrong really and the atmosphere kinda takes you back in time.

Step back in time when you step in to this place. It reminded me of steakhouses from my youth in the 60's and 70's. Not a lot of options but everything was tasty. Bar cheese appetizer , wedge salad ( only salad option) with house made dressing , large cocktails with the waitress suggesting a double and prime rib ( 12 or 16 oz cuts).... a cattleman's delight! Sides are starches , either baked or fried potato or rice. Many steak cuts and all reasonably priced . Looked like many locals in the place which is always a good sign

Great Prime Rib. Service was very good despite being very busy. Another patron told us the walleye was excellent

Atmosphere and service is why I gave it a 2! The food I had was lackluster! Small servings huge price.

What a fun spot! This place was recommended to me as a first time visitor to Traverse City. Located…read moreon the main street it has great curb appeal and an inviting look. As you enter you will encounter all things cherry as there are many different foods, drinks, and other items for purchase. It may feel a little overwhelming with the amount of things in the store! My family and I got to enjoy various samples of all things cherry, my favorite being the cherry gummy bears. We headed over to the wine counter in which we did two wine tastings for $1 each. The staff member who served us was knowledgeable and informative. Both of the wines I got were delicious! Overall we had a great experience and would encourage anyone to make this a stop while visiting the downtown Traverse City shops!

Especially if you need to pick up gifts for in-laws and the neighbor who gets your mail when your out of town. Not super nice gifts. But cute gifts or interesting food stuffs. Spoiler alert: The food stuffs you eventually buy will be made with cherries. Cherry wine, cherry jam, cherry salsa, cherry barbecue sauce, cherry candy... Some of it's great, some not so much. It's large. It's packed. It's touristy. It has oven mitts with cherry designs and aprons with clever sayings. You've been somewhere like this before. If it's your thing, they do it pretty well. If not, this store will not change your mind.

The slight cherry tang invthe bbq sauce created a very appetizing taste. The wings were cooked perfectly and I highly enjoyed them. I ordered the Pork Chop dinner ($29). This is a local michigan-raised pork with a cherry apple chutney. The pork chop was excellent and the cherry apple chutney was a great addition. It came with mashed potatoes and a cucumber corn medley. They both were very good. North Peak Brewing makes their own Root Beer. Honestly that why I chose to come here. Thankfully the Root Beer was excellent. The service was friendly, but not very efficient. I think they are short staffed because the bar tender was also my waiter and he was busy bartendering! Overall I still rate this a 5 star review. The Wings, Pork Chop, and Root Beer were all excellent and I would return for any of them. So yes I would Return.

I haven't been here for years, and was so happy to see that the menu still had my favorite Monte Cristo and beer cheese soup! Prices are high because it's Traverse City, so that doesn't bother me and you get the soup for 5 bucks when you add it to a meal! Nice! We started with the calamari - small portion, but it was hot and fresh and plenty for 2 people to share. I also had a small house salad, and added white cheddar for $1 (that was a good suggestion from our server Kylie!). The pesto ranch was great too. I love their main IPA, they do a great job, and it is always on the menu (versus seasonal). I love how this place is laid out, there are lots of wooden booths that feel quiet and private. The only reason for taking off a star is the parking. It's incredible that for a large restaurant, they share a small lot with multiple businesses. Everything else is great and you will appreciate the consistency and the spaciousness of this restaurant!
