If I could go here for the rest of my life, I would. Food was incredible, service was top notch, and WOW what a gorgeous view we had. We had a reservation for our anniversary, and I must say, I highly recommend this place. We arrived right on time and were asked where we'd like to be seated. When we requested a table by the water, they were more than happy to accommodate us, leading us to a beautiful waterfront spot. When we first went over to our table, they had this roll down screen over our window and the staff kindly rolled it on up. The staff the entire time was amazing. Very friendly, felt like I've known em' for years. We started with drinks - a chest warming whiskey for me and a Sauvignon Blanc for my girlfriend. For our appetizer, we chose a tomato bisque type of a shrimp, served with rustic bread, greens, and lemons. This dish was absolutely divine. Every bite was delightful, and when we ran out of bread, our waitress kindly brought us more so we could savor every last drop of the delicious sauce. For the main course, I ordered the Sablefish, and let me tell you, it was the best fish I have ever eaten in my life. The combination of miso, honey, and citrus glaze was nothing short of incredible. The flavors melded together perfectly, and the fish was so tender it practically melted in my mouth. It was so exceptional that I insisted on swapping plates with my girlfriend so she could experience it too. The dish also came with amazing fried rice and some decent bok choy. While I'm not familiar with bok choy, it was an interesting addition to the plate. My girlfriend opted for the Cacio E Pepe, a pasta dish made with noodles, pecorino romano, pepper, and roasted tomatoes. We both enjoyed this dish immensely; it had a comforting, home-cooked vibe. The roasted tomatoes were a highlight, enhancing the noodles perfectly. However, as good as it was, it simply couldn't compete with the Sablefish--but honestly, I doubt anything could. In the end, the bill came to around $115, and it was worth every single penny. Anytime I'm in the area, I'll be dining at Rock's Landing. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Excellent food. Excellent service . Owners make you feel at home. And it's right on the water. I had the branding...delish!!

    View from porch.

Food was fantastic-we shared Brussel sprouts, dined on halibut, shepherds pie with lamb, roasted corn pasta wit shrimp, and shared tequila key lime pie. DELICIOUS! Service was superb! Ambiance - who doesn't like sitting by the shoreline as the sun is setting! No misses here-a walk off home run!

absolutely lovely experience. My boyfriend and I traveled from Chicago to Frankfort during a rainy weekend, initially reserved an outside table at Rocks Landing, due to the rain the restaurant had to be creative to accommodate all of their outdoor reservations, upon first arriving Julie and another owner (I didn't get his name) were outstanding. Went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and went above and beyond doing what they could to make us comfortable while waiting for a table. The food was delicious and the view from the patio was definitely worth the wait! Will be back next time we visit northern Michigan.

The $30 charcuterie board was not worth $30. The Rock Burger -best burger I've ever had. My Bruv got it medium, per the restaurant's recommendation. The branzino fish was as tasty as could be. Man I love some good pan seared fish. I was a sucker and got the steak frites. And although it was good & the fries were top notch (almost like steak and shake good mmm mmm mmm that duck fat be splashin') I think the way to go was the burger here. I'm still thinking about it. My girl got the ragu something something- nothing to write home about. Five stars for the burger, the wine, and the friendship.

Albert Caymus once said "I would rather live my life as if there is a God and die to find out there isn't, than live as if there isn't and to die to find out that there is". God is at Rock's Landing, I know I met him in every bite I took, with every mention of the staff, and with every glimpse of the view. Yes, I thought it was that good, Rock's Landing just plates class. It's artfully done and each dish has a signature richness about it. It's sport casual, yet you still feel underdressed when you view the menu. I ordered the chicken thighs with zatar and tahini. Plated beautifully, very rich taste, lite, yet very filling. The Brussels sprouts appetizer was spot on. Now not everything can be so complimentary. My host had the skewered pork medallions. It was a large plate, yet the pork was visibly dry. The accompanying sauce was said to be out of this world. However we all agreed that her husband ordered best. Ahi Tuna, a truly jumped up version of a Nicoise Salad, only 100 times better. So Chicken thighs five stars, Ahi Tuna five stars and five moons, Pork skewers....eh, if not over cooked four stars. This pejorative in no way reflects on my review as I ordered excellent items had excellent service.

This restaurant is a gem! I've been visiting Chimney Corners resort for years and was delighted to hear their Boat House was being turned into a restaurant. I ordered the Halibut and my husband ordered the Wagyu Zabuton steak. The restaurant is small but we were able to walk in because they had recently opened up there patio area (but they do take reservations). The weather was gorgeous so we sat on the patio it was very relaxing watching boats go by while enjoying our dinner and cocktails.

Great food, amazing patio. You feel like you're eating on a boat. The sea bream was very tasty

This spot was a hidden gem for my wife and I. The food was great. The menu was small but all the offerings sounded delicious. We loved our fish and the burger was made perfectly. Our table was right along the water and overlooked crystal lake. I would highly recommend.

I was surprised it took so long to learn about this place! I visited during the warmer months so the outdoor patio was open. They have a DJ on the patio that allows you to request a song via submitting a song from the available vinyls. It was fun to look through the vinyls he had available and playing throwback songs. The Cabbage Shed is extremely popular so I highly recommend making a reservation, if possible. The outdoor sitting goes fast but they have ample indoor tables. My group was able to at least sit next to a window even though we were inside. The view on the patio is breathtaking! Even if you cannot sit outside, they'll let you step out to take a photo from the second floor if it's not too busy inside. I'm not sure if it's a requirement but every place in this area pour heavy handed. No complaints! I ordered the baked penne with sausage and it was unbelievable. I ordered this dish months ago and I still mention it anytime I reflect on my trip. The dish was flavorful and the ingredients tasted fresh. This was a relief because that's not the case for a lot of places nearby. I was easily able to get a a second meal out of my order. If I'm able to get at minimum two meals from my order it's always worth the price. I will definitely visit The Cabbage Shed during my future visits.

We spent a…read morelong weekend in the Manistee area and got a recommendation to eat at The Glenwood which was just a short drive north from where we were. I called for reservations the day before and found that only very early or very late was available. We also were given an option of seating in the restaurant or on the porch. We chose the porch and early reservation. We were seated at a nice table with a view of Portage Lake. We started with wine, (even though we bought copious amounts of wine on our trip, the wine list couldn't be ignored) my wife enjoying a glass of Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc and me a glass of cab. It was recommended we try their Almond Battered Shrimp. This appetizer was served with a cherry mustard sauce that was wonderful. The menu said jumbo shrimp and yes, they were jumbo with that nice "steak like" texture and flavor. For dinner my wife ordered the Whitefish special (Whitefish is on the regular menu but the special preparation was a bit different). This presentation had wilted spinach, onions with a light Parmesan crust. She let me try some and we both agreed this was the best whitefish either of have ever had. I ordered the "Everything Tuna". This was yellowfin tuna with light and dark sesame seeds, poppy seeds. onion, garlic and salt. I ordered it extremely rare (so rare a good vet could resuscitate it) with wasabi. This was a taste sensation. Dinners included broccoli and an excellent salad. The dressing was so good we bought a bottle on the way out. A "loaf" containing four rolls was also included. Our server was Cyrillia and her service was as outstanding as it gets. Often when I'm enjoying service of this calibre, I look around and see if we just got lucky or is everyone getting great service. It seemed that the service standard at The Glenwood is high. On the drive back to our hotel, we tried to come up with restaurants we've enjoyed as much. The list is slim with The Glenwood at or near the top.

The biggest stand out for me was the impeccable service! Your glass is never empty. If you get up, your napkin is promptly refolded. This was absolutely 5 star treatment. In the meantime, while watching the James Beard Awards, I noticed they were nominated within the same category as one of chef's from our hometown Cincinnati! The place is actually a house, and we were seated right next to the kitchen. Our server, Dillon, was great. We were happy that we both didn't have to order the tasting menu, so I had it, and my wife ordered a la carte (this is the first place we have been to that you can actually order whatever way you would like, nice!) The wine list isn't huge, but it is nice that the glasses are all the same price. As other reviewers said, there is a lot of staff for the 25 seats in the place. We were offered a pickled Amuse Bouche and a mushroom tea that we could have had every day. It was SO good. Here is what we ordered and what we thought; Starter - Smoke whitefish salad- very good and the fish was delicate and fresh. Loved. Gemelli pasta- they were absolutely fine substituting other cheese for the goat cheese, which we don't care for. We had one with blue cheese and one with parmesan. Both were great and the pasta was cooked perfectly al dente. Whitefish with Tom Yum Vinaigrette - first time having whitefish and it was excellent. Flavors on point. Would order again and again. 5 course tasting - Cucumber Buttermilk Soup - light and earthy tasting, and very pretty! Gemelli pasta - see above New York Steak - didn't appear to be a strip. It was chewy and a little gamey. I had to pull gristle out of my mouth a lot. However, the chimichurri sauce was fantastic and the potatoes were buttery deliciousness. Grilled Turnips - unique flavors. I was getting full so I didn't eat all of it. Lemon Posset - perfect ending. Creamy and lovely. We had the pleasure to talk to chef Calvin because we were right next to the kitchen. He specifically talked to us about what cheese we would prefer on the gemelli, and then when I asked where he likes to eat in town, he suggested a few places. He checked in on us regularly throughout our meal, which really made the experience intimate and personal. He also made some browned butter for our excellent bread because we didn't care for the goat butter...nice touch. They are deserving of the kudos and award nominations they receive.
