Wonderful place. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The staff are wonderful too. Everyone I interacted with were helpful, friendly, accommodating. They seemed to really care about my experience at their restaurant. And then there was the good it is fresh, made from scratch, delicious! I ate there two if the three days I was in Frankfort. While I ate at 3 other places, one cdd was me close to the quality of food and service. If you're there for breakfast, take a leap of faith as it snd try the breakfast salad. Fabulous! Both our food and our service were excellent. The breakfast salad is my favorite, my husband always orders the Strawberries and Cream French Toast, both are delicious . The enclosed patio is pretty and comfortable. The view of Betsy Bay is lovely too. Good coffee and homemade jams are an added bonus. Birch & Maple is the best restaurant in Frankfort, MI. I struggled to find decent food during my visit to Frankfort during my visit but when I came across Birch & Maple I made sure to dine here two times in one day. Birch & Maple is a very popular place so I highly recommend making a reservation. I was able to make both of my reservations on the day of but it was a Sunday so I assume it was a slower day. They were still packed for a Sunday but I assume Friday and Saturday are their busier days. The staff was friendly during each of my visits. My waitress during my morning visit was very kind and helped us get our reservation for dinner when we ran into issues. The inside of the restaurant is large when you take into account the front sunroom space and the back area. I believe the front sunroom space is the more popular place to be seated because it faces the lake and it has a beautiful view. For breakfast I had the French Toast Monte Cristo, it was delicious. I couldn't get over how much flavor it had especially in comparison to all of the bland food I had at other places not even a block away. I was easily able to take half of the sandwich to-go. For dinner I had the Sweet Pepper Fried Chicken, which was also delicious. The dinner portion was large enough to ensure you have some to take home. I was given two large pieces of chicken along with a fair amount of mashed potatoes and veggies. I did like the blend of sweet and salty. read more

Birch & Maple has a great atmosphere. We visited for lunch on a Saturday and neither of us ordered what they are known for, the chicken and waffles, or the French toast. I originally ordered the Caesar wrap and had to return it because the chicken did not taste right. Ended up with the turkey club, which was fine, but nothing spectacular. I will say the poblano cheddar soup was great. I was a little disappointed after reading all of the reviews. read more

I can't recommend the Fried Chicken + Waffles enough... coming from the south where this dish is on every menu at every breakfast/brunch establishment... I can say this was the best chicken + waffles I have ever had, hands down. The bloody mary was very tasty, and my son loved the homemade sausage patties. I would highly recommend a reservation on the weekends (we waited a little over an hour for a table on Sunday morning.) Our waitress was friendly and quick to take our order. This small restaurant nestled in the heart of Frankfort, MI has delicious food. We started with the Shrimp Ceviche which was light, flavorful and delicious! I had the Nashville Hot Chicken. Large portion of chicken that was spicy and mouthwatering! She had the halibut special...no complaints. The server in training (1st day) was shy however the lead server had a contagious smile which quelled all our concerns :) Highly recommend this quaint restaurant near Lake Michigan! We LOVED this place. I seriously can't say enough good things about it. We went twice while in Frankfort for a wedding. We typically don't go to the same restaurants twice while on a trip, but we got the boatman breakfast & monte cristo the first day, and it was so good we had to go back. Our first trip we sat inside the main restaurant and the overall ambiance was nice. We loved the birch wood accents and maple table tops. The bartender was very knowledgeable and made my husband two very well made drinks. The coffee was fresh and strong and delish. The monte cristo was exactly what my husband was craving, and the jam in it was home made and delicious. It's the same jam that came with the boatman and I wish I could buy a jar. My eggs were cooked well, but the star of the boatman was the potatoes. Crisp, flavorful, and addicting. On day 2 my husband got the boatman and I got chicken and waffles. This was sinfully delicious. The salted caramel sauce was to die for. This restaurant was exactly what we wanted it to be and we can't wait to go back! read more

Went to this neck of the woods on the spur of the moment. Frankfort is an ultra cute town and this place was one of the highest reviewed places in the area. There was an art fair happening when we stopped by so the this place had a long queue. We did stick it out and all the food on point. Good, but not great IMO, but still a great joint.
