We arrived on July 3rd about 9:15 am. We were promptly seated in a booth. The place was pretty…read moreempty, with only 3-4 booths occupied. It appeared to be a sports bar and restaurant from how it was decorated and the TV sets playing Tennis. Our server seated us, quickly took our drink order and got our breakfast menus. I ordered the Two Egg breakfast (eggs over easy, Sourdough toast) and my wife got the Big Breakfast, (eggs medium) which she wanted for the pancakes. The meals took a while even though the place wasn't busy. We soon found out the eggs had been switched. Her's were easy over and mine were medium. So we switched the eggs. My easy over eggs were not fully cooked before they were flipped. My wife's medium eggs were cooked perfectly. However neither egg dish was salted or peppered while being cooked. The pancakes were perfect however. Light, fluffy, and delicious!' She shares one with me and I agreed, delicious, light and fluffy. Her hash browns were not cooked except on the surface. Mine were cooked nicely. However again the hash browns were not salted or peppered during cooking as far as I could tell. All and all the food was good for a breakfast place and the serving sizes were adequate for what we ordered.

Unfortunately it's under new ownership now and they've ruined the place. The lighting is now harsh, the food quality just isn't there anymore and the service is rushed. They have a huge liquor menu and a nice tight food menu, along with daily specials and soup on the board. The havarti cheese and fresh dill added a great flavor that worked incredibly well. I will definitely come back in the future.

One waitress took our order another waitress delivered food to the table. I'm thinking this could have all been avoided if we just had our original waitress. Our original waitress would have realized that the food we ordered was missing or not even ordered at all this is at no fault to our waitress that delivered our food she was nice and took care of it. The service was excellent, our server that took our order waited on us before at another restaurant and I can tell you Scooby's be happy you have her, she's a gem. We sat outside it was nice but I'm concerned others will find it loud from the traffic. The atmosphere inside is a 50, 60's retro look and definitely fits the name and is simply phenomenal, good work. There is a store inside Scooby's that sells all kinds of wines. Liquors, IPA's also has a beer cave and so much more in itself it's worth the stop. We stopped in for lunch it was great food and very reasonably priced. The shaved pastrami sandwich recommended was a great choice. Gyro was decent but meat was on the dryer side. Chicken strips were more for a kids meal and the boneless chicken wings just ok. So glad to have Scooby's in the Stee I hope you do well and will see you soon.

I had barely set foot in the door when the two bartenders at the bar greeted me warmly and welcomed me in and told me I could sit anywhere I wanted. I sat at the bar and as recommended by a local, I ordered the pepper jack crab soup, which was delicious. One thing to be aware of: don't expect real crab in the soup. Imitation only. But it's plentiful and delicious on a frigid winter day. The bartender recommended the roasted chicken or the perch, and living near another great lake and always having ready access to perch, I decided on the broasted chicken. I was not disappointed. It came with four pieces, choice, potato, and a choice of another side. It was way too its food, but I ate more than I thought they would because it was that good. I will definitely return to the painted lady!

We visited The Salty Heifer on 7/11/2026 at about 11am. My husband ordered the all you can eat…read morebreakfast, our youngest son got a kids breakfast and my oldest son and I got the Whole Farm omlette. My husband liked his food (besides his hashbrowns not being crispy as ordered), our youngest is 2 and a picker so he doesn't care, our oldest son said his food tasted weird but he ate it and I DID NOT like my omelette. I had 3 bites and a piece of toast and left the rest (2 year old was being whiny and I hate annoying other diners with loud children so we went to the car.) My omelette had no flavor at all. After adding salt, pepper and hot sauce (and not a lot at all mind you) all I could take was what I added. There were SO MANY barely cooked thoroughly hash browns that it might as well have just been an order of hash browns. The omelette was pitifully thin. It just wasn't good but whatever. My husband and oldest son stayed to finish their breakfast as I sat in the car with the youngest. The waitress (who was fantastic throughout the service) went to the back and apparently talked to the owner. My husband said she looked a bit like she was upset when she came back 5-8 mins later. Apparently she couldn't take it off the bill because the owner wasn't having it. Very strange, but whatever, my husband paid it. My husband went to tip the server a bit more than he had initially taken out and she said "no, you don't have to do that." But she was great and deserved a tip. As a business owner myself, the owner sounds like a jerk who has zero concept of good service. If a customer doesn't like something, you fix it and you don't treat your employees rudely either. I couldn't imagine treating my customers that way. Also, invest in some seasonings and lay off the hash browns. Fix your food and your attitude. And play some music in there or something.

We spent a…read morelong weekend in the Manistee area and got a recommendation to eat at The Glenwood which was just a short drive north from where we were. I called for reservations the day before and found that only very early or very late was available. We also were given an option of seating in the restaurant or on the porch. We chose the porch and early reservation. We were seated at a nice table with a view of Portage Lake. We started with wine, (even though we bought copious amounts of wine on our trip, the wine list couldn't be ignored) my wife enjoying a glass of Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc and me a glass of cab. It was recommended we try their Almond Battered Shrimp. This appetizer was served with a cherry mustard sauce that was wonderful. The menu said jumbo shrimp and yes, they were jumbo with that nice "steak like" texture and flavor. For dinner my wife ordered the Whitefish special (Whitefish is on the regular menu but the special preparation was a bit different). This presentation had wilted spinach, onions with a light Parmesan crust. She let me try some and we both agreed this was the best whitefish either of have ever had. I ordered the "Everything Tuna". This was yellowfin tuna with light and dark sesame seeds, poppy seeds. onion, garlic and salt. I ordered it extremely rare (so rare a good vet could resuscitate it) with wasabi. This was a taste sensation. Dinners included broccoli and an excellent salad. The dressing was so good we bought a bottle on the way out. A "loaf" containing four rolls was also included. Our server was Cyrillia and her service was as outstanding as it gets. Often when I'm enjoying service of this calibre, I look around and see if we just got lucky or is everyone getting great service. It seemed that the service standard at The Glenwood is high. On the drive back to our hotel, we tried to come up with restaurants we've enjoyed as much. The list is slim with The Glenwood at or near the top.

It came out dry and tough, and I could tell by the film on the hollandaise sauce that it had also been sitting under a heat lamp for awhile. They also mixed up our sides. This place charges haute prices but offers mid dishes and service.
