We had a wonderful dinner here with a group of friends. The service was excellent. The food was excellent. The views are lovely, and the whole experience was just great. We started out with champagne, crabcakes and pate - cleaned our plates! We moved on to have the Scottish salmon, the halibut, the pork chop, the seafood Alfredo, and the walleye dinner. As if that wasn't enough, we finished off with bourbon, crème brûlée, ice cream, Ruthie's delight, and espressos. What a feast. A really lovely meal in a lovely setting. read more

A truly delightful experience. The views are amazing! The service is friendly and professional and the food is to die for! For appetizers we had the crab cakes (world class) Caprese salad (the only ordinary item we had all evening) a Caesar salad (excellent) smoked whitefish pâté (also excellent!) For entrées we had Mahi Mahi special (out of this world quality in the Midwest no less!) grilled Salmon, shrimp pad Thai, and whitefish. All the dishes were perfectly prepared and unfortunately left us too full for desert. We will add this venue to our list of "regular" spots when visiting his part of Michigan. We had both lunch and dinner here. Lunch we split a club sandwich, it was good. The whitefish pate was good, could have used something more to spruce it up. Then we stayed for dinner after our round. Ordered the Halibut at the recommendation of or waitress but swapped out to the lobster risotto for an up charge. Highly disappointing!!! The risotto was bland as was the fish. We've had dinner here a few times, and it's always been okay. We go because you can't beat the view and ambience. This year we went while holding our expectations low, but holy smokes did they blow us away. The food was amazing. I deducted one star only because they inadvertently brought me out the wrong entree. I had ordered the halibut with risotto and they brought out a plate with halibut and roasted potatoes. I didn't even notice until the waitress came back over and apologized. But they did discount my entree 25%, so they more than made up for it. I highly recommend Arcadia Bluffs for a great dining experience. read more

We were here for a buddies trip and enjoyed our dinner in the main dining room after a round on the South Course. We were seated right away for our reservation. There was pretty good social distancing and all servers/ staff had masks on. Being seated at sunset was a treat with glorious views from the end to end windows overlooking Lake MI. Our server Sarah was terrific and all the courses were right on, from the charcuterie app to our entrees, to the sweet finish. I had the Blackened Halibut with risotto and green beans and finished with the cherry pie ala mode. A nice wine list complements the menu. An experience that befits the golf and lodging at one of my favorite places. The only knock is for the super premium prices not only for dinner, but also for lunch-- really...a $20 burger? read more

What a great place to find! We stayed at crystal mountain and came across this restaurant and it looked great, so decided to take the drive... which was only like 20-25 mins. We arrived and the building is nice, the big huge golf course right by the lake... and the views were just beautiful and so peaceful. We made reservations on open table, so we were sat right away. We tried their margaritas... really good! Started with their charcuterie and thai crab cake.. both were very good! Also had their filet, ribeye, and swordfish. Everything was great and cooked to perfection. The service was nice. There are chairs outside you can have drinks on and watch the sunset. It's definitely a fine dining place, but very much worth it! read more

What a lovely restaurant with a great view. Food and drinks were amazing. The hostess was NOT lovely in the slightest. From the minute we walked in she was immediately rude although we had reservations. We tried to stop by the bar to speak with a friend and she walked up and yelled at us to go to our table. It's hard to believe that someone like "Chris" is still an employee at this restaurant-- let me tell you how he single-handedly ruined our anniversary dinner and what was once a very special place to my fiancée and I. We had dinner reservations for the two of us, and also had our puppy who's an emotional support animal with us. We were driving in from over two hours away to eat there, and so I called well in advance to confirm that it was OK to bring the dog and also asked to be seated outside so as to not cause any issues. I spoke with two different people on the phone, well in advance, who confirmed that it was OK to bring the dog if we showed her ESA letter to host stand. When we arrived and pulled up the letter to show the host stand, Chris walked up and I handed him the letter while explaining what we had been told. He looked at my fiancée and goes "that's not your dog is it, you're just the dog walker" in an extremely accusatory tone as if he knew something we didn't. Completely caught off guard, I said no, that it is in fact her support dog, and that it lays out everything in the letter. He then goes "I'm not reading that, tell me what the dog does for you" in the same tone -- which, keep in mind, is pretty sensitive medical information to share in a public space. We didn't know ahead of time that we would have to publicly explain the entire reason for the dog and defend ourselves because Chris couldn't be bothered to read the letter. Completely absurd behavior from someone in the service industry. Had they just mentioned upfront over the phone that we couldn't bring our dog, then there would not have been an issue, and we would have gone elsewhere! I'm definitely not a karen, but it's very upsetting when we drove 2 hours to be there under a set of pretenses, and then have Chris change his mind, AND be extremely rude to my fiancee and I about it multiple times. Then, another more reasonable guy walks up and I then explain the entire situation again to him. He says "ok, she can sit outside with you as long as she's not causing a scene and barking. We don't normally allow dogs but we'll make an exception". While very put off by Chris, we still decide to stay because it was our anniversary dinner and we drove two hours to be there. And if they would've communicated upfront that no, actually dogs are not allowed, then I wouldn't have minded and we wouldn't have drove all the way there!! Anyways, we get seated outside, and our dog sat down next to us and didn't bark once or cause any trouble. Not 5 minutes later, Chris walks up (I'm thinking he's going to apologize for how he spoke to us) and tells us that our dog is causing a scene and that we needed to leave! This was a blatant lie-- she had not done anything at all that could be characterized as causing a scene. Worse yet, there were two screaming babies crawling all over the place, which he did nothing about (not that we care, but apparently our dog was making a huge scene according to him). This is BY FAR the worst service experience we have every had anywhere, and we're foodies who eat out all the time. It's a shame that one guy could ruin such a beautiful place and it truly amazes how he still has a job. Again, easily the worst experience we've ever had, and you just can't make this stuff up. read more

Stayed at the Bluffs overnight on a quick golf trip and had breakfast at the dining room the next morning before our round on the South course. First, you don't get any better views than the patio off the dining room. Seriously some of the best views in Michigan. The food was very good and reasonable given the upscale amenities at the Bluffs. Everyone is committed to a great experience at the Bluffs and the dining room is no exception. The setting, views, buildings, and grounds are second to none. All of this makes Arcadia Bluffs well worth a visit. We are local to the area and this is truly an outstanding place. We visit 4-5 times/year for special occasions, a nice night out or a lunch with a beautiful view. My daughter chose Arcadia Bluffs for her wedding and it was wonderful. That said, the restaurant and food quality have been going south over the past few visits. Our recent lunch was such a contrast to what we have come to enjoy over the years that it inspired the rating. We have had reasonably good service and food on some recent visits, but the trend has not been good and the most recent visit did not even come close to our expectation. Here is a brief, accurate review of the experience. Arrival/greeting: fantastic, welcoming Hostess/seating: rude Waitress: very nice, accommodating, but green Cocktails: one was okay, the other was undrinkable Food: Some was okay, some was less than adequate. Appetizers are fantastic and main entree's are among the best you can find in Northern Michigan albeit pricey to be sure. Had an incredible experience at the Arcadia Bluffs Dining Room. As a native Michigander, I wanted to treat my boyfriend to a beautiful dinner on the lakeshore for his birthday and our anniversary. He is from Texas and has only seen Lake Michigan once before. The Dining Room came recommended to me by a friend, and it couldn't have been anymore perfect. We made a reservation for 6:45, with sunset being at 7:45. We opted to choose the porch seating, which is first-come-first-serve instead of our reservation, as the view was impeccable. We had unobstructed sweeping views of the golf course, the rolling dunes, and the lake! Our waitress was wonderful & attentive, the food was delicious, and the sunset/view was truly the icing on the cake. I will add that considering it's a dining room at a golf course, there was an obnoxious group of gentlemen seated near us, one of which was being incredibly inappropriate to the waiter. We appreciated the waiter reminding the guests that they were at a fine dining establishment and that their behavior would not be tolerated. From that point on, there were no other issues. We will definitely return on our future visits to the mitten! read more

One of best restaurants in nw Michigan. Best view of Lake Michigan and sunsets. Everything just perfect.... But beware of prices. Likely one of most expensive also. Be prepared for $100 or more for a couple. Maybe one of best high end wine selections also and you pay for it. Breakfast Sundays in summer is a delight. $12-$15 each. First time dinning at the south course and it was an amazing experience. I'm used to dinning at the north course and experiencing the sunset and bagpipes however how server Lisa made my engagement announcement dinner truly special. She was kind and helpful to my table of 6 and also my other party of 2 at another table. She treated everyone like we were family. I used to work at Arcadia north course in the kitchen and got to know Lisa. So welcomed me back with smiles under the mask. All 8 of us will be coming back again. And most definitely will be back for the sunset and bagpipes in the summer. read more

On August 1 ordered "Chicken & Waffles" for dinner. Waffle was hard...chicken was small and dry. The side dish was potato chips...really! On August 2 ordered "Chicago Hot Dog" for lunch. (I was born and raised on Chicago' South Side...Chicago Hot Dogs were a regular meal of my youth.) This "dog" was ordinary at best. Arcadia Bluffs has a "pricey menu"...I expected to receive much better quality food. So I was very disappointed with both dining experiences. I'm starting a seperate site for this fantastic, hidden gem. It is a restaurant at the Arcadia Bluffs Golf Course but just because a golf course is listed and gets good reviews, doesn't necessarily mean that the corresponding restaurant (if there is one) should be lumped with the golf course ratings. Although, in this case, they both rank high. We drove out of our way just to eat here; we did not intend to play golf. The dining room, staff, and food are first class. As close to a perfect dining experience as you can have. We tried 3 appetizers and 2 came out perfect the first time. The crab cakes looked a little dark and the server immediately apologized, didn't argue, and before she could take them back the manager intervened and said "I'll personally deliver them." Next batch came out perfect and they apologized profusely (not necessary!). Brie with honey and pecans was wonderful as was the calamari. Our meals (sandwiches) were first rate. One minor menu item but worth praising was the sweet potato fries. Ever wonder why restaurants can't serve S.P. fries that look like regular fries; all the same size, color and texture? Well this place can! To end a wonderful meal we shared a very good brownie with some good coffee. The menu is a little pricey so I'd recommend going for lunch to get a feel for this place at a slightly lower price but with still excellent food. read more

Buyer Beware! Once you get to the restaurant, they have you dead to rights. You have now driven way too far out of the way to turn around and go somewhere else, and they know it. And they are going to gouge the hell out of you for it. How bad? Try $60 for an 18oz Rib-eye, gouging!!! That is not an exaggeration, SIXTY dollars for a Rib-eye steak, served with Roasted Potatoes, Sautéed mushrooms and onions, and grilled Asparagus. Sides that probably cost them less than $2 to purchase. As I said, once you are there, you are bent over a barrel and your wallet will pay the price. Let me tell you about my meal, since our group fell into this trap: "Maryland" Crab Cakes were on the appetizer menu. Having once lived in the Chesapeake Bay area, I know what Maryland Crab Cakes are, what they taste like, what they are supposed to look like. Every Maryland crab cake I ever ate on the east coast was filled with lumps of jumbo crab meat. Arcadia's looked like it had been sent through a food processor, taken out, beaten to a pulp, and then thrown in the processor again for good measure. A true Maryland Crab cake lets the crab meat be the showcase of the cake. It has very little binders added to it. Arcadia's was so stuffed with breadcrumbs and filler, that it literally felt like paste in my mouth. Needless to say, I was highly disappointed with how my meal started out. Luckily a friend ordered the Brie appetizer. That was delicious, and I would recommend that to anyone who does get stuck eating here. Because I refused to pay the ridiculous prices for their meats, I asked the waitress what she recommended. She tells me the House Made Fettuccine was very good. Who am I to say otherwise?? I am now telling you otherwise! Bland. That sums it up as politely as I can be about it. What is the temperature between cool and luke-warm? Not sure either, but this was it. There were eight of us in our party. Three of us ended up returning our entrées do to temperature problems. One other entrée was sent back because of the obscene amount of sauce put on the Stir-Fry. Seriously, it came out looking like a Chinese soup there was so much sauce on it! I honestly want to give this place one star, but will go two only because our waitress was so nice, and had to deal with some obnoxious people in our group. She really did handle herself graciously. And the Brie Appetizer was great! I will not be returning here, nor will I be recommending this place to anyone I know heading to that area. read more

Beautiful setting, mediocre food. You certainly are given enough food, but it's nothing special and pricey. We ordered a bottle of white wine while everyone else in the party ordered cocktails. Their drinks were quick to arrive but we were told that the wine isn't stored chilled (Huh??) and it would take another 10 mins. Then she brought the wrong wine. We pointed out on the menu the one we wanted and waited another 10 mins while it chilled. It was the wrong one again-a slightly more expensive one, but we didn't want to wait again. We were charged for the more expensive one. After 2 mistakes, I expected some sort of consideration. At least charge us for what we wanted instead of for the more expensive one. read more

Dined at the new south course restaurant today. I ordered the $18 big bad wolf sandwich. We had a luncheon party of 17 people, so I realize the service would probably not be the best. Little did I realize how bad service could be. Although we ordered first, my sandwich did not arrive until 45 minutes after, and then the busboy promptly dropped my and 4 other peoples' meals on the floor. The told me that the cook would complete my order once again 'stat'. 30 more minutes later my sandwich arrived. After all that, 'was it worth the wait' all my friends at the table asked. Not really, I said, I could only choke down half of the grotesque conflagration. The waitress offered me a free desert for my trouble, but I declined indicating I did not have that much time to waste. Don't bother visiting this over priced, understaffed food graveyard, I will for sure never return. read more

Drove 45 minutes to have lunch on the patio at Arcadia Bluffs. Very much worth it. The food was great, service spectacular and the view was amazing! They have some chairs in the lawn area overlooking the golf course and Lake Michigan so after lunch grabbed a drink and sat enjoying the great view.
