The food is consistently phenomenal, the service is always second to none and the atmosphere makes it a really enjoyable place to relax and eat. Aron takes great care of his customers behind the bar, and the waitresses are attentive. Parking is easy, but I'd recommend getting there early because it gets extremely busy. Came here years ago when it had a different name and, I assume, different owners. So much nicer now. Pretty typical of better-quality northern michigan pubs...wood paneling, lots of fishing memorabilia. We're on the doorstep of Tippy Dam, after all. Pretty busy when I stopped in at dinnertime on a Wednesday. I passed on the bar-b-q specials and got a chicken Ceasar. Not bad, but lettuce was a little sparse. Chicken was tender if a little bland. I probably will return and try some other things. Certainly nothing wrong with Trak's as a place to hang out and have a beer. read more

This is THE PLACE in the area for Friday fish fry! We've been several times, and just LOVE the food. For fish fry, there are several fish options: cod (my favorite), perch, salmon, etc. It comes with fries or garlic mashed potatoes (YUM!!), and a salad. Pros: Delicious food. If you aren't into fish, get the broasted chicken...it's SO GOOD and moist! Cons: They need more waitstaff. We had to wait a long time to get our order taken, beverages brought, food brought. We came to Traks for their Prime Rib night and enjoyed an early Father's Day dinner out. I had the prime rib served medium with 2 shrimp skewers and a side of mashed potatoes and gravy. The prime rib was nothing special, it was dry and just came soaked in au jus. The shrimp were coated in a tropical glaze and were really spectacular! The mashed potatoes tasted ok but the gravy tasted like it came from a can. My wife had the bbq pulled pork and it tasted freshly smoked and came with a great sweet bbq sauce. We also had the Detroit Dog which was HUGE! The chili on it also tasted canned though which kinda put us off to it. We would come back for bbq pork and the shrimp but the rest of the food was average at best. read more

Food was burned to hell and missing shit. By the time I got back to my uncles and walked through the door, even he knew the food was burned. Great place after several long days of winter skiing and hiking. We arrived hungry and tired on New Year's Day and the Traks staff were warm and welcoming. The pool table was busy and the wait staff took our order promptly. Food came fast, fried mushroom appetizer followed by a pile of cod baskets and hamburgers for the whole crew. Several beers on tap. From Stella to Occulto, I thought you could only find Occulto in Biloxi, where I think the distributor is (I think). I said to myself before I leave Michigan, I'm gonna try eating Perch, which is their local fresh water fish. I was told to go to Traks as they have the best. Well, they do. I really love Perch now, it's a mild light fish. I ordered the fish and chips. It was excellent, four filets and a lot of fries. The batter wasn't heavy and it was flavorful. It was pretty good - I'd come again and get a burger! Although as a server myself, I felt like our waitress was running fairly slow given the fact there were only 4 tables dining in at that time. Aside from that, she was very nice and accommodating. Weird to mention, but I probably won't be ordering anything to drink from there unless it comes out of a can or bottle. I ordered a coke (they apparently have coke on the gun & pepsi in cans) and it tasted weird and the cup smelled like the sewer! My friends water also smelled and tasted funny. Our poor waitress - I made her smell the cup! I figured it was just the cup and reordered but nope; they must have well water or something and the ice tastes like such. Needless to say, I paid for a pop and couldn't drink it. I ordered the chicken sandwich and it was good, and the cup of broccoli cheese soup was even better. Although next time, I will probably order a burger. My girlfriends burger was DELICIOUS. It's hard to find a nice burger around here that's cooked all the way through, seasoned perfectly, and not burnt! I was told the burritos are huge, as well. Went for Mother's Day special. Our waitress whom I believe was name Dawn was amazing. Quick on her feet and though they seemed to be short staffed she made our experience wonderful, wished us a happy Mother's Day and apologized for the wait and thanked us many times for understanding and being patient. Definitely will be back to see her. She was even asking other tables who weren't even her tables how they were doing and if they needed anything. I pulled her to the side and asked her if she was owner. She laughed and said no. My husband and I thought she'd make a wonderful FOH manager being we know the restaurant industry since owning our own restaurant many years ago in East Lansing. To the owner, make sure you keep her. Worst meal I ever had! I ordered Nachos and was told they couldnt put chicken on it. So I ordered a Taco salad. It was 90% shredded lettuce, small amount of cold hamburger with a few stale torilla chips sprinkled with cold shredded cheese from a package! $10??? I have had better gas station nachos. I love this bar. I've been going here since I was a kid. Its cozy, good food, good beer, always sports or something interesting on the TV, waitresses are friendly. But lately I've hated going there for one reason: the rude, crabby, yelling old bartender, Deb. I've had her ignore me, give me attitude when I ask a question, and have seen her do it to many other customers..all of which have a look of disbelief afterwards. She ignores people trying to play keno, blames customers for her mistakes, and doesnt make it a fun atmosphere. I would come in again if I knew she wasnt there. Was very unhappy with our experience here. Waitress was extremely slow initially waiting on us even though there was only one other table at 2:30 pm. Waited forever for the food. Food was good but the menu was deceptive. My partner ordered Caesar salad with salmon. The way the menu reads he thought it was 8.99 for the salad with salmon and 6.99 without but he was charged 6.99 and 8.99 to add the salmon. For 16.00 he would have ordered the salmon dinner instead of salad. read more

I kinda hate to give Traks five stars because we feel like it's one of our little secrets, and I honestly cannot give a single reason to knock a star off. We've been going for years, and it just seems to get busier and busier! Our go-to place for good beer and hot food. They even have a snowmobile trail spur dedicated to their location. The food is always hot and consistent, and the portions are big but not obnoxiously big. Sometimes, some of the nearby eateries think huge portions are the answer to sub-par quality. The beer selection is huge, and they have daily drink specials. The decor is nice and cozy (think log cabin), the service is prompt and attentive, and the prices are more than fair. As others have said, the Broasted chicken is the best. There seems to be a lot of places North of US-10 have it on their menu, but from the ones I've tried, Traks does it the best. Don't let the small town, dive-bar feel scare you away. Make a trip from Manistee, Bear Lake, or even Onekema to Traks and you won't be dissapointed! read more

We are frequent diners since my family loves the chicken. Wait staff is friendly and the menu provides a lot of choices. Our only complaint is the woman behind the bar. She is very grumpy and doesn't want to deal with the lottery or pull-tabs when you try to cash them in...if you do not want to deal with the lottery then don't provide it. If you want the lottery then please find someone else to work behind the bar or speak to her about the constant attitude..it is very frustrating when you are out and trying to have a fun night! read more

Stopped in craving a fish dinner on a Saturday night, got the Perch basket w/fries. It was 4 pieces of oven baked style fish w/sweet potato fries ($13-fish & $3-fries). Fish is soft, bland, with smaller 2 bite fillets style portion, not very good. The fries were good, but an additional $3 dollar charge didn't seem right. Girlfriend got a perch sandwich with 2 pieces of same fish & onion rings. Also got the Bobcat Balls, which were pretty good. Total cost with only waters was $38. Wouldn't recommend fish from my experience, really expensive for what you get (Zander perch it turns out). Much better fish dinners elsewhere/everywhere with larger portions, Chase Creek Smokehouse is really good. The place was pretty much empty at 7pm so we got our food quick, only had to wait like 8 minutes which was nice. read more

Sooo disappointing. Our waitress was extremely rude and slow. We had a table of 6 and it threw her for a loop. I think her name was Nancy. She spilled an entire drink on me and I had to ask for a refill. My "prime rib special" came out about 10 minutes after everyone else's food. I thought "maybe it'll be worth the wait" Absolutely not. This "prime rib" was terrible. Flavorless meat and over cooked. The side baked potato was so under done that my fork actually resisted when I tried to poke it. I called my waitress over and asked for a replacement sandwich and you could obviously tell she was annoyed. I'm a server myself and I would be extremely apologetic at the very least. She just rolled her eyes. And to top it off she double charged us. I've never not tipped a fellow server until I went here. Terrible. read more

Too bad service is so slow. Most of the food is good. Very bad experience and will not go back. Went for burger and beer night. Early in the evening around 5. The place was not busy at all. Waitress came with menus, told her we were going to have the special. She took our drink order and brought it back and took our order. We ordered 2 burger specials, nothing special about the order, just as it comes. So we sat and waited. About 5-10 minutes she took the table next to us order and then another one. We continued to wait. Both of the other orders that were taken after our order came out. By the way they ordered burgers! Same as ours. I asked the waitress why they got their order before outr order. She said "I'm the only one here". Hum... then she would know that she had placed our order in long before the other ones. I said that we were leaving. Next day I called to talk to the manager. I explained what happened. He said oh yea you were the ones the walked out, my customers were mad too. Our cook called in. No I'm sorry, no I'll let the owner know, no what can I do to make it right? Will I go back? No! Too bad because it is just down the road from us. I will also tell our company not to go there. Stopped in last Saturday evening and ordered their special. It was approx. 5 pm, they were fairly busy and getting busier as the evening progressed. Our waitress was perky and friendly.The Prim Rib dinners were offered as 8 ounce and 12 ounce. The latter being $17 and some change. The dinners were served with salad and coleslaw. Salad was a large portion, unfortunately not cold and neither was dressing (a personal preference of mine). The coleslaw was ok, but nothing to write home about. Salads could be a bit smaller, Dinner came with choice of potato, mine was roasted garlic mashed, not garlicky enough (again a personal preference) and bread. Bread appeared to be store bought garlic bread. Prime rib was cooked to my liking. Overall it was better than expected but they could improve upon a few things. Our bill with two alcoholic beverages and a soda was $58 + a little steep for this neck of the woods. Will go back and try a burger or something else. I checked out their website which has their menu and prices, it had a spot for special events and it says "check our facebook page". Sorry, but not everyone has a facebook page, so another pet peeve of mine. read more
