Came here for lunch with some softball buddies and enjoyed it. Service was 5-stars as orders were taken quickly, food was delivered, and separate checks were handed out. Our server (sorry forgot her name) was friendly and efficient. Good ambience to the place. I had the Rueben sandwich on sourdough bc I don't like rye bread. Came with delicious tater tots, or you could have them with fries or chips. Overall a good experience and prices were reasonable for these days of high tariffs and meaningless wars. I hear a lot of good things about this restaurant but it didn't meet the expectations for our family. When we went on a Thursday at 3, it was packed. People were parking on the grass! As far as I know, there was no special event or music playing. We were sat immediately but waited 10 mins for our waiter, no apology given. She asked what we wanted to drink but didn't figure to bring out waters because of her delay. We also told her we were ready to order. She said she would come back with our drinks then she will be able to take our order. I get it, it was busy but what doesn't make sense to me was we were seated in her section and she walked past us plenty of times before finally coming to us to ask what we wanted to drink. She had to know we were there. In her section. Ready to order. We ordered a steak medium, steak medium rare, chicken tenders, bisque soup, a smaller bisque soup and some sort of shrimp appetizer (has a spicy sauce, sorry I forget what it is) but asked for ranch instead of the spicy sauce. We got the ranch go sub for the spicy and we're still charged extra. App took ar least 20 mins to get to us. We regretted getting the app because of the lukewarm flavor (yes it tasted like it was frozen, just throw in microwave). Our meals came a half hour later! I get they have to stagger meals but the food wasn't satisfying our appetite, too bland or too undercooked/overcooked depending on the steak, bisque tasted like campbells. I really wanted us to enjoy our meals but the recipes were messed up apparently when we went otherwise why does this place have such great reviews? Waiter was nice overall but nothing to ride home about. I wonder if we came at a less packed time or day if our food would have more care in it for the price. Oh well, I don't see us going back. Steaks didn't have too much fat on them either but still were undercooked or overcooked depending on how we ordered them for the table. Steak is always pricey but the price was quite pricey for how much (or how less) steak you get. So 2 stars for this overall. We stopped in for lunch before taking a drive to explore the area, visiting from Dearborn MI. I had a delicious bowl of cheddar broccoli soup that was on point for flavor and consistency. Then a wonderful Mexican type salad with ample: sautéed onions and peppers, corn, black olives, cheddar cheese and a spicy chipotle ranch dressing. I added grilled chicken breast and it was very tasty and filling. My sister enjoyed a Nashville Hot chicken sandwich and she said it was also fantastic. An ample size chicken breast breaded and sauced well, lettuce, tomato plus a firm but soft bun that held up nicely. She had tots as a side which made for a great meal. Our server was very pleasant, personable and attentive at just the right times. The ambience was a rich wood decor: floor, walls, booths, tables and chairs. But a warm atmosphere with black accents, comfortable seating. There were stairs to enter with railings but I might have missed a more mobility accessible entrance. I recommend calling if this is a detail you need. They're great for groups as the place was packed on Mother's Day when we first attempted to eat there. So glad we went back and I'm sure this will be a sure spot to eat when we're in town again. read more

Our tabled ordered 3 hamburgers, 2 ribeyes, and a chicken wrap. Everyone was pleased with their meal. My ribeye was cooked perfectly, covered in a slightly sweet bourbon glaze with generous sides. Had dinner at the Bungalow Inn, the reviews were very good. Walked in and was greeted by a most friendly hostess. Big attractive bar area to seat a large amount of people. We were immediately taken to our table and were greeted by our friendly waitress who took our drink order. Big open space restaurant which looks like it is new, clean and organized with several TV's to watch. Large menu with something for everyone. I ordered the Turkey Reuben with tater tots and hub ordered the Salmon with Asian glaze, Salad, and a baked potato. Our dinner's arrived in a timely fashion and were hot off the grill and delicious. Our waitress took good care of us. I noticed lots of employees waiting on customers and busboy's doing a great job clearing off tables. Arrived a little after 11:00am on a Tuesday. Only a few cars in the lot. Went inside and within a minute I was seated. The place looked updated since I was there last. I don't remember the inside being wood. My waitress brought me coffee and a menu. I already knew what I wanted from looking over the menu online prior to arriving: The El Bungalo (omlet). While waiting I finished my coffee and refilled it with the pitcher that was left at the table. It tasted weak and looked like water. When my waitress brought my order, I mentioned something and showed he. She took it and got a fresh pot. The meal was good. Came with a choice of American fries or hashbrowns and two slices of toast. The food is pretty good. They have some unique salads. The Reuben is good and so are the hamburgers. They make homemade onion rings. The service is great. I generally go here for lunch on Sundays. At noon you can get either lunch or breakfast. In the summer it's really busy. They just added on an outdoor patio area but unfortunately it takes up some spots which were formerly parking. Parking can be full sometimes and you have to drive around to park in the back. There is a nice handicap accessible ramp but still hard to get in through the double door system they have. read more

We walked in on a afternoon on Saturday and was immediately sat. Amanda was great to make sure our needs were met with speed. I will say though she seemed a bit rushed at times as in she just wanted to get stuff done, at least she did it with a smile. The food was fantastic. The only downside I will consider is 5 mozzarella sticks for almost $9 (after tax about). At least give us 2 more for that. I understand it was homemade but it seems a bit over priced. Family owned restaurant that's been a staple in Manistee for years. Food is excellent service fast and friendly. There is a nice bar to sit at and eat, drink if you so choose. There is separate areas for large group reservations too. Beware there may be a wait because this restaurant is usually packed as this is the go to restaurant while visiting "The Stee". read more

The atmosphere here is eclectic. In the bar area it's dark with great tin ceilings and the dining section is mostly wood and very bright.  It mixes into a very inviting environment. I actually came here, heck came to Manistee, because they had a Bourbon Steak! So I ordered the Bourbon Glazed Ribeye ($31) with Mashed Potatoes and Applesauce. While the steak was cooked Perfectly Medium, it was a little bit of a disappointment. This isn't to say it was bad, it was in fact very good, this is sad because I had hope of excellence. Also too much gristle for my liking. That being said the Mashed Potatoes were excellent, in fact my favorite thing of the night. Maybe top 5, I've ever had. The applesauce was good. I ordered a piece of chocolate cake for dessert. It started a little cold for my taste, however as it warmed up it became very good, easily the second best thing of the night! The service was excellent. From start to finish my waitress was great. Overall I'd give a 4 star review! Would I return? Yes, but I'd try something else. My friends and I ended up at Bungalow Inn on a rainy Saturday morning while we were camping at Orchard Beach State Park last fall. They were one of the few places open, so we decided to give it a try since we didn't feel like trying to cook in the rain at our campsite. We were seated right away and I felt we were appropriately distanced from other people for the most part. I tried to order a mimosa but they were out of champagne, bummer. A couple members of our group of four got bloody Marys and enjoyed them. The menu is pretty basic with your typical breakfast items - I ordered a skillet and my boyfriend got the chicken fried steak. Our friends ordered the biscuits and gravy and French toast. Our food came out pretty quickly and everything was hot! The homemade sourdough toast was very good - thick and fluffy with just the right amount of butter. My skillet was covered in sausage gravy that was seasoned perfectly and not too salty. I had a couple bites of the chicken fried steak and I have to say that was my favorite - tender and juicy meat, fried to perfection and smothered in more sausage gravy. Definitely not diet food, that's for sure. But delicious! We also tried some of the biscuits and gravy; the biscuits were griddled and a little golden, which was really nice! It took awhile for us to get our bill as our server got really busy around the time we were finishing up our meals. She was apologetic but we weren't in a rush. It's not gourmet food but it will warm you up on a rainy day, and we'd go again if in town in the future! read more

We visited Bungalow Inn this past weekend. This was one of the only few places that took reservations for our large group of 18. The wait staff was very polite and extremely good at their job. Remembering all orders for a group our size can be difficult. I highly recommend this place for people in the Manistee area. read more

So far the food and experience has been great. The service was top notch and checked on us to make sure we were good. I like when wait staff checks and doesn't ignore the whole time. Our drinks stayed full and everything right on time. We have only eaten there twice now but both times were great. The dining room is very fancy. Today was a good experience despite the odds being against them. My buddy and I came in arpund 1:30 for food. Rain was forecasted and had just begun to drive people inside after what looked like maybe a "surprise" lunch rush prior to our arrival. As a long-time owner, I see the "way things are." Everyone is working hard, heads down, maybe "The weeds" for a couple. We elected to sit at the bar. Daybartender had tables in the dining room (I doubt a normal section) and was stretched too thin. She was obviously competent but seemingly at a "wall." The young attentive busser was observant and (instructed or not, I didn't see) he got a drink order and we had sodas quickly. However, that was it, didn't get a word from anyone for a little too long, 11 minutes in reality, as I jokingly start my stopwatch when I sit at most places (I rarely complain, check my reviews). Always curious how others do. SO.... the door from the parking lot didn't close for a bit. People flowing into a restaurant that, to be honest, "was on its heels already" with a pushy 10 top near the end of the inflow. At this time, a new person comes in, obviously, at least one extra set of hands, and as an "seemingly experienced" person does, she walked directly into her position to assess. She was the night bartender that was called in early for reinforcements. As a seasoned observer, I watched things align, and pur order was taken. Our food was very good, and what drew us to the restaurant through reputation and longevity was apparent and still shining through, without any customer loss or real dilemmas. Kudos to management and staff. Today was unconventional, and everyone "held fast." I'll throw a verbal thanks and hug to the hottie relief Barteneder, "A" The "Colorado Sailor" dude Great restaurant and crew Tell day bar girl to smile through it next time. I walked in and it appeared to be relatively slow. There were two employees behind the bar waiting on NOBODY. I asked if I should seat myself since no one was at the host stand. They said, no someone will be out. I waited another 4-5 minutes, a couple other waitresses looked over at me, no acknowledgement, nothing. I asked the bar people again, is someone coming, they said he will be here in a second. Three minutes later I walked out. TERRIBLE , Worthless, no concern for their customers, in short, they suck. Sadly today will be the last time we visit the Bungalow, we have been going there for years, We did love the prime rib in the past but no more, Heres why. I ordered king cut, supposed to be a pound and it was nowhere close, also was bland, no flavor. even au jus was tasteless. Our Waitress was inattentive, and we had to track her down to get our bill, heres where things went sideways, I didnt have my glasses on so I asked her how much it was, she said 84.65 , I gave her a 100 which would have been a 15.35 tip. We walked out and wife asked how much bill was, i said 85, she said no way as her meal was 15.99 w/ no drink, my meal was 36.99 , so 85.00 didnt add up. I went back in and asked for a reciept and sure enough it said bill was 64.65. so a 20 difference. I pointed this out to waitress and she pulled the 35 bucks out of her pocket and handed me a 20. now if it had been a mistake the extra 20 would have been in till not her pocket.
