Best fish fry in town, delicious burgers and friendly staff - always our go-to on a Friday night!

My husband and I came in for a beer then decided on getting just a small bite to eat. The only thing going for this place was the very cold beer and it was in a can at that. My husband ordered chili and we saw the cook walk behind the bar to the cooler and walk back to the kitchen with it, that should've been a sign right there. I ordered mac & cheese bites. The mac & cheese bites were the size of a large kidney bean and there were 5 of them for $8 dollars!!! The chili was too salty and more like a soup so my husband sent it back. We got our bill and she charged us for the chili and we asked about that and she said she could comp us a drink and was unpleasant about it. We left without finishing our drinks and won't go back. read more

Quarter pound burger? Lucky if it was was half that. Cheapest draft beer is $6 and fancy pants brews at that. No good old regular beers available. And better take cash. No credit cards accepted. That's a pain in the neck. Service was OK, but ambiance...what's that? Not much of it here read more

The only good thing about this place was the kind and helpful server. Food was unfortunately meh, at best. I asked to sub sweet potato fries for the house chips with my burger and was told it would be an $8 upcharge - the same cost of ordering them separately as an appetizer. Obviously, never mind... that's ridiculous. No hot beverages. No cards, only cash. We were the only ones in there... guess now I know why. Let's see... ambiance... cold sports bar with a pool table. People I respect talk about this place like it's great...for some reason. In my experience it's not great. It's not even good. If you're looking for "Up North Redneck Bar", this is your spot. It's got Bud on tap, serves greasy burgers and fries, and it's got a juke full of classic rock and country. The bartender basically ignored us so it took a super long time to get a very basic order (I swear we weren't rude, we just kept our mouths shut and didn't complain...) I don't get why people like it. I mean, you can get crappy chicken wings anywhere. This is one of those places. read more

Can't tell you what was worse, the food or the service. Waiting 50 minutes for 2 appetizers & 2 entrees. In those 50 minutes a table of 2 & table of 6 were serverd and revived food while we were told "we were next" Don't waste your time or money read more

This is always one of the best places to eat and drink. Food always meets or exceeds expectations and the service is great. I always feel safe recommending Chappos to friends or visitors because I know they will be well taken care of. read more

Great place to spend a Sunday afternoon watching the Lions. They have a great blueberry cider option for this non-beer drinker. The toasted ravioli & chili were very good. The waitress was great managing the whole front room on a Sunday afternoon. read more

We stopped here on a motorcycle trip on our way up north. The place isn't very big but its got a great vibe. The service was really good and very friendly (shout out to Stephanie who rides her own Harley) The food was pretty much bar food but it was great. I had the perch dinner and it really hit the spot. Worth a stop if you're in the area looking for a bite to eat and a drink. The bottom line: Great little place on the main road in and out of town. Friendly service, good food. read more

The mac and cheese bites were amazing! It's a really small bar and very busy when we went, only two bartenders/waitresses.

Great Asian wings. Must be popular since they ran out. Takeout was fine. Cash only.

This place is a hidden gem. It doesn't look like much but it's so good and the staff was amazing and friendly. We had caught trout and they cooked it up for us. It was literally the best ever. I'm embarrassed to admit how many times we've driven by this place without stopping. We were returning from a morning hike & decided to give it a try. What an outstanding decision! Our waitress, Courtney, was fantastic. We had the Wings & a Side Salad to go along with damn good doctored up Bloody Mary's. The salad was fresh & tasty & the wings were crisp & hot. Worst experience ever. Entered the resturant @ 6pm. 7 people ordered. Food shows up at 7:35. We were told 20.min after order 30 min after order 40 min after order that our food was coming right out. No offer to help with the bill even. What an absolute shit show of a resturant. Waitress went from counting drawer change directly to pulling cut limes out to put in a customers drink. Horrible wait times for food. 2 other tables served before ours after they came in 15 minutes after us. when I mentioned this to the waitress she said they just got appetizers when clearly they got full meals snd the couple with us only got appetizers. Plus they don't tell you it's a cash only bar. had to use ATM which costs 4 bucks per transaction. just terrible, stay away if your from outta town. not good . read more

Quarter Pound Burgers, Naked Wings, a very nice and clean home town sports bar that has fantastic food. They have seven TVs to watch your favorite sport. Wonderful atmosphere with very friendly staff. Glad we came across this place we will be back. read more

First night in Manistee, not sure what's was available decided to try this place. Good decision! Sat right down, server came over to take order pretty quickly for being by herself. I had the boom boom chicken wrap, delicious! Husband had a mushroom & Swiss burger saying it was the best burger he'd had in quite some time! Definitely recommend! read more

Went to have a burger & watch part of the UM vs MSU football game. Fun atmosphere,packed. Felt a little tight in there, but considering the game,go figure. What a change from the old dive bar at this spot. Clean interior, friendly staff and great food and drinks. Huge improvement and atmosphere and attractive for my wife and I since our tastes have changed and we no longer go for the seedy dive bar atmosphere that the old Northside exhibited. Good place, nice bartender, very nice owner. I had the naked wings (spicy BBQ, which could've been spicier) were tasty and my father in law had the shrimp. He loves their hamburgers too and says they're the best in town. Also the beer was cold and plentiful. read more

Good burger, one of the better choices in Manistee. I don't know if it's changed or not but the establishment does not take credit cards and the only option is to use the ATM that's located within the bar and of course it's a couple of dollar fee to get money out, plus your bank gees. Bring cash! They do have an ATM machine for convenience, though. Nice staff, good breaded wings, and good beer selected on tap. They have sports on three big screens! Very nice casual stop in spot for the Manistee area. Parking might be a little tight, but worth it for a bar that's been around since the 1800's. Heard that this was under new management, and decided to give it a try: I was pleasantly surprised! The service was very friendly, the place was super clean, and most importantly the food was great and very affordable. Note that this is a CASH ONLY bar. This, and a somewhat limited menu were the only reasons I decided to not give it a 5-star. I will be coming back! read more
