Fabulous beer with a wide variety. Everything we tried was great. Service was also wonderful. My personal favorite was the Linda's Boujee Blue, a blueberry wheat. The Tad Bit Hazy was also a standout. There is a great local connection to the community, and I was very surprised to hear they haven't even been open a year. The brewer really knows his stuff!

Looking for a quaint place in a cool, old historical building (next to the railroad tracks) to grab a microbrew that will leave you taste buds wanting more? If so, Third Life Brewing is the stop for you. Every beer on tap was 5 ! Independently owned and operated. Great guy, the beer is even better! Tag a brew fans-It's a kayak NOT a Canoe.

Best beer, best local vibe, friendliest staff (shoutout to Jake!) in Manistee. Just go.

The service was astounding, such a great up north vibe. If you're in the area you must stop by, can't miss atmosphere.

$24 for a 4 pack to go? Tried Pilsner and west coast IPA. Both were poor quality with noticeable defects. Much better beer in the area.

Then, you pick up your bag of food at a little window outside, and then find a place to eat outside or take it home or to your hotel or wherever. If you're dining during decent weather, you can take your food to one of the tables located in the plaza. So, now you know how Keeper's Fish Shack works. Hopefully, I've saved you from sounding like a bozo like me, when I said, "This is a to-go order" when you order. Because duh. All of the orders are to-go orders. I ordered the blackened North Pacific Cod Tackle Box. Tackle Boxes come with fries, hush puppies, coleslaw and sauce. The fish was very tender and flaky, and the spices they used were just spicy enough to give it oomph. The hush puppies are a definite must-order, and I say this as a person who has neutral feelings about hush puppies. My husband got the Fried Shrimp Tackle Box, and he said that the shrimp were perfectly fried: not too much batter. They have a kids menu here: your choice of fried cod bites or chicken tenders. We got one of each, and my kids really liked them, especially the cod bites with a little tartar sauce. The kids meals come with apple sauce and fries, but no drink. When you go into the shack to order, look to your right and you'll see refrigerators with lots of different beverages, including local Michigan beer in cans. It was nice to drink a local beer while enjoying our fish meals outside in the plaza. When we visited, the farmers market was happening in that same plaza and there was live music, too. That's the best way to experience fish at the beach, if you ask me.

We got there around 1pm and it was packed, but comfortable. We snagged the last available table and appreciated the good selection of beer and cider. Service was friendly and fast too. Which was good since we were starving. Fried pickles and cheese curds were fresh and not at all greasy. I always appreciate when a kitchen knows how to handle their frying oil. We split the fried apps and a karaage rice bowl for a fine lunch to launch us into the rest of the weekend. I would totally go back to this place.

Dinner was equally uneven. The fried pickles and cheese curds were solid for what they are, and probably the best part of the meal. Unfortunately, the chicken shawarma was awful. It tasted like someone dumped sumac on it and called it a day. That was basically the entire flavor profile: sumac, sumac, and more sumac. I genuinely would not serve that dish to someone I disliked, let alone a paying customer. Overall, there are a few decent fried bar snacks here, but not enough to make up for the bad beer list and the terrible entrée. I'd avoid it.

When we ordered, the bartender didn't drink which made it hard to know what certain beers taste like, but honestly, no judgement because he did the right thing and offered tastes of beer which was awesome and helpful! So service wise I would say great! The beer tasted really good as well and was decently priced. They had a bourbon barrel stout which was pretty good and newly released. The biggest issue we had was with the food. I ordered the spam sandwich with chips and my wife ordered the chicken quesadilla. While the food was cheap, the quality of the food also seems that way too based off what we ordered. The spam sandwich was supposed to be teriyaki flavored, and didn't get any of that. There wasn't a lot of thousand island dressing on it too, which made the sandwich dry. The chips that were served were clearly out of a bag as they were cold, which made it seem like I could have just gotten a bag myself. I would have paid a few dollars extra to get something fresh like fries. While spam comes from a can and I know this, my wife's chicken quesadilla had chicken that was clearly from a can - it was sopping wet, and the meat was very chunky, and very salty. This made us worry the rest of the food may not be very fresh. While we did have that experience, I will say the pretzel bites were really good and did seem fresh, and they were sourdough! So that was nice. I think this place has very good beer, and a really cool bar setup with a nice stage, arcade machines, and much more. However, I wouldn't come back here for lunch. Instead, I would make food at home. I would highly recommend more fresher options, and I would pay a little more for better quality food.
