We love coming to Bucksnort when we are at Crystal Mountain. It's one of our favorite dives to hang out at. Our 8 year old loves running around the dance floor before it gets busy. The onion rings are SO good and my husband loves the walleye dinner. read more

The place hasn't changed in 30 years. Old carpet and a display of a Harley behind glass. A total dive bar. Did I say that the carpet is the same too! Like it was taken from a closed bowling alley and once was used for cosmic bowling with black lights, but too worn out to see any reflections. Food was solid bar food, beer was cold, service was great, but there was only one person working. Typical for a small town bar. If you stop, be open. If you don't like a dive bar, stay away. read more

Stopped in on our way to sleeping bear dunes on a Friday night, the staff was friendly to us. We had to wait awhile to be greeted and our orders put in, but when the food came out it was hot and tasted great and drinks were cold! Staff is awesome during the day at night. Totally different place rude and snippy the owner is an overweight drunk who stands behind the bar drinking and hitting on women way out of his league trying way to hard to make other men look bad like he's some player really ruins the atmosphere of your typical dive bar. The floor is soft and not level with a few holes. It's really hit and miss place seems to be a different place when the owner isn't there making everyone feel like a unwanted guest at his birthday party I'd never take a date there. I just found out that i lost a loved one so i went into the restroom to talk and cry so i wouldnt do it in front of the customers there and the owner came in and told me that i was upseting his customers and told me to leave. Fun place! We were passing through and had lunch here. My blue burger was very good and so was my husbands grilled Reuben. The homemade kettle chips came out warm. Yum! They have a very nice selection of beer, micro beers from Michigan and the staples. The locals were very friendly, I love that. There's a section on the chalk board where you can buy one of the employees a drink. So when they come in they will see that so and so bought them a crown 2. Anyhow, that was very cool and unique. Bathrooms were clean, they have a DJ on Friday and Saturday. There's a couple T.V's to watch a sporting event. You just can't go wrong. Shelby, thank you for the excellent service too. Yeah not a great experience. Stopped in for a quick shot and pee on way up to Arcadia area. Bought two shots, paid and we each went to bathroom separately. While I went in, my girlfriend ordered a 2nd shot for herself and different bartender charged her for all 3 shots, and because she didn't see me pay, my girlfriend paid again for all 3! If that wasn't bad enough, when I got back from the bathroom somebody had taken my seat at the bar (it was crowded, so no other seats available). My girlfriend told him that she was holding it for her boyfriend, and his response is "I don't give an F@$), I'll sit where I want." No bartenders helped us or even seem to care. Rather than start a fight about a stupid barstool, we left, overcharged and insulted. We will not be back. Clearly visitors are not welcome. read more

I've always loved this bar. Always great food. The only problem is consistency. You're supposed to get a side of coleslaw, French fries and a pickle instead of just chips if you upgrade your burger to a basket. I usually do that because the coleslaw and pickle are my favorite part. Well sometimes I get a pickle and no slaw and sometimes I don't, sometimes I get coleslaw and no pickle sometimes I don't. But lately I don't get either of them and just French fries.. It's really frustrating because I'm not a big fan of the fries and really look forward to the pickle and coleslaw... read more

Great small town bar food and feel! Stopped in on our way home from traverse city and wanted a couple beers with some food. My fiancée and I split the bucknuts which were deep fried pizza dough balls and the frickles a ham and cheese wrapped pickle in a wonton wrapper and they were amazing! Split the Reuben which was tasty but nothing special and deep fried tatter tots are always great! We will be back! Service was great, friendly and quick can't ask for more! read more

The waitress brings me my burger basket I ordered, and instead of bringing condiments to the table (ketchup, mustard, etc) she points to the corner of the room and tells me to go over there. Only go during the day! Do not go on weekend nights! My husband and I were up there to do some mushroom hunting. We were invited by a woman at another establishment. Being young and naive, we took her up on her offer. As soon as we walked in the door, a group of people asked us to come sit & hang out. Innocent enough, right? Great place to grab a meal and/or a drink. All staff interactions I've had here have been positive and the food is really good. I've enjoyed almost everything I've eaten here and recommend you checking out the Grizzly Burger and Deep Fried Green Beans.
