Easily the best bar in Petoskey and honestly one of the best ones I've been to anywhere. Yes, as a hometown local I'm a little biased for sure but there is something very genuine and honest about the Pub and the people there. No pretension, no putting on airs or trying to impress anyone, everyone coming as they are. You'll rub elbows with local blue collar and service industry people, trust fund kids, wealthy summer residents, everyday folks of all kinds etc. I think a lot of reviews here are from visitors expecting The Pub to be like the Perry Hotel or one of the more tourist oriented places that bends over backwards and caters to summer vacationers. One even mentioned threatening to "Go ski somewhere else" for not being coddled I guess, which I found hilarious. They also seem to mention food a lot. For what it's worth the food is pretty darn good here, though my experience is usually over some appetizers later at night shared with friends over a few drinks. Solid burgers, can't go wrong with the fish & chips and their cheese curds are surprisingly good, easily rivaling anything you'd find in Wisconsin. That said I've always seen this place as a bar first and a place to drink with friends that just happens to have good late night food too. The service is good and the people working are top-notch and good at their job, but sometimes the Pub can get a bit too busy as there's just not a lot of competition that truly rivals it downtown. That's what happens when barely anything is open late in the post-covid world and businesses seem to be closing left and right. This is a weird little hole in the wall bar and restaurant. Lots of wacky and unique items hung all over the walls makes for a fun conversation starter. 22 draft beers on tap and a good selection of alcohol. Food is surprisingly good. We wanted to order food and were given menus but the bartender was neither friendly nor fast and he passed us four times slowly and never looked at us or asked us if we'd like to order. He was friendly to the group that arrived after us; perhaps they were acquainted. This is our go to pub in Petoskey. The ambience is casual and fun with all the different types of signs on the walls. The service is good and we love the food. Our favorite is the nachos. Their burgers and onion rings are delicious too. The menu is basic bar food but the food is good and they have amazing service too. Drinks have generous pours as well. Great place. read more

Tried this place due to some locals recommending it and was super disappointed. To start, the energy and environment are as actually cool. People were having fun and it has a dive bar vibe. It seemed cool when we walked in and our waitress was awesome. We ordered a pretzel for an appetizer and it was crazy salty and just not very good. We ordered side salads and they came out and were just okay. We ordered the salmon with a side of broccoli and coleslaw and the coleslaw was probably the worse coleslaw I've ever tasted. The broccoli also had like no seasoning on it. My grilled cheese which was supposed to be their "#1 pick" was just meh. Nothing bad with it just didn't taste flavorful. I've never felt so unwelcome at a bar. From the moment we walked in, the main girl bartender was rude and dismissive (Amanda?)--not just to us, but to every other patron who entered. The irony? The place is covered with signs that say, "Be nice or pay 50$ to the bar," yet the staff doesn't seem to follow their own rule. Mitchell's was recommended from a friend as his favorite spot to go. While surprised that it was open on a Sunday, we walked in and all the decor just gives you the right vibe for a dive bar. There is free popcorn in the back as well, so I would definitely enjoying that while sipping on cocktails. If you want local color this place is an absolute must! Very eclectic decor; historic, funny, crazy, worldly, interesting... it's fun. Lots of fun decor in a small pub. We used three tables of four for our group and had a variety of sandwiches, soups, salads and a walleye basket. No complaints - everybody was satisfied with their choices. A couple of the guys enjoyed a beer. We were appreciative of the employees, just showing up for work these days deserves some praise. We were looking for a laid back place for a Mother's Day supper and this place was perfect!! Fun atmosphere, great music, full list of beers and a wonderful menu! I had a mushroom, onion and provolone burger that came out so hot I had to let it cool a bit before I could eat it...And when I did, it was perfectly cooked to medium and just excellent! Hubs ordered the Walleye dinner and boy, was he happy when it was served! It was huge and he devoured every bite, saying it was the best he's had in a restaurant, ever!! We are not from the area but had seen positive reviews so we tried it for a birthday dinner. We were so disappointed in the lackluster service from seating to ordering to checking back in after food delivery. The perch was almost nonexistent in the heavy breading and the waitress just walked away when we tried to share our disappointment. Needless to say we won't be back. Took the kids half expecting to be told they weren't allowed, but there were lots of families. They had popcorn and/or peanuts to keep the kids busy and happy. They also had lots of art and taxidermy, birdhouses and fun decor for them to admire. Service was great, prompt and friendly. The food was excellent. Besides a warm inviting atmosphere and staff, you'll find a solid menu with everything from great salads, soups to just plain old normal great food. This pub is a cool place. Lots of antique things hanging from the ceiling and on the walls. It definitely has a vibe that appears to attract everyone there on a Friday night. Food was excellent ! We had burgers and onion rings. Batter on the rings was light and crispy. We watched other plates of food being served and the fish looked fantastic ! We would definitely return and just hope for a better server. One bad experience won't keep us away. I'd like to think maybe she was just overwhelmed or it was her first time. Either way our food was brought out hot by another server and we had enough to drink with our meal that we only really needed her to bring the check. Bill shows up, and my ~$12.00 burger was correct, but my "up charge" for fries was $5.50! After questions it I was shown on the menu that is listed at that amount. This place was a saving grace for late night food. When we walked in we weren't sure what we were getting into. The decor is vintage and funky. There are peanut and peanut shells on the floor so if you had an allergy this would be a place to avoid. We were quickly greeted by a bartender who took our order and offered some suggestions on the menu. I had the nachos. They were MASSIVE! They were also loaded with toppings and delcious! They dont skimp on a anything. I like how they layered the cheese on allmof the levels of the chips.The prices were fair and overall, the rest of the apps and food were decent. Yup! This place has amazing food and a bar side and dining room side. Great service and always worth a stop. The dining room side is not always open /staffed but the bar side is. The back tables by the video games can get a little toasty due to the kitchen heat.... But the white chilli, and fried mushrooms are great apps. My family and I stumbled across this place when we were in town for a wedding. It was around 10Pm and we were starving and were sent here by another restaurant as it was the only place that serves late night food. It was packed in the inside and full of amazingly unique decor. You really feel like you are at a neighborhood northern bar, and there is great service. Now to the food: huge selection of craft local beers, at reasonable prices. We ordered the perch special (lemon pepper), it was late so they only had one serving left, so I opted for the potato skins. Both were amazing with great portion sizes! We also ordered the fried mushrooms, jalapeño poppers and the Chicago Dog. Food came quickly and was delicious!! If I went back I'd definitely get the cheese curds, they looked amazing read more

The food and service were good. However when I got the bill after I had gave them my credit card there was a 3.5% fee for using a credit card. I did not sign the receipt (which I find out you never really need to do) and told our waiter we were paying cash. We put the cash on the table and left. Of course I made a few mistakes 1) thinking if I didn't sing the receipt they wouldn't put the charge through and 2) not asking for a receipt for my cash payment. Have called them 4 times and each time the person who could help me wasn't in but they would have them call me - they have never called me back.
