Curds were enough for a table of four. Overall taste of the food, however, is average. Despite being a good looking B&B Burger, the bacon was burnt and the burger itself didn't have much seasoning. Lots of wacky and unique items hung all over the walls makes for a fun conversation starter. 22 draft beers on tap and a good selection of alcohol. Food is surprisingly good. Great atmosphere and interesting decor. My drink was good but they were out of what my husband ordered and no apology. We wanted to order food and were given menus but the bartender was neither friendly nor fast and he passed us four times slowly and never looked at us or asked us if we'd like to order. He was friendly to the group that arrived after us; perhaps they were acquainted. This is our go to pub in Petoskey. The ambience is casual and fun with all the different types of signs on the walls. The service is good and we love the food. Our favorite is the nachos. Their burgers and onion rings are delicious too. The menu is basic bar food but the food is good and they have amazing service too. Drinks have generous pours as well. Great place. read more

Tried this place due to some locals recommending it and was super disappointed. To start, the energy and environment are as actually cool. People were having fun and it has a dive bar vibe. It seemed cool when we walked in and our waitress was awesome. We ordered a pretzel for an appetizer and it was crazy salty and just not very good. We ordered side salads and they came out and were just okay. We ordered the salmon with a side of broccoli and coleslaw and the coleslaw was probably the worse coleslaw I've ever tasted. The broccoli also had like no seasoning on it. My grilled cheese which was supposed to be their "#1 pick" was just meh. Nothing bad with it just didn't taste flavorful. I've never felt so unwelcome at a bar. From the moment we walked in, the main girl bartender was rude and dismissive (Amanda?)--not just to us, but to every other patron who entered. The irony? The place is covered with signs that say, "Be nice or pay 50$ to the bar," yet the staff doesn't seem to follow their own rule. Mitchell's was recommended from a friend as his favorite spot to go. While surprised that it was open on a Sunday, we walked in and all the decor just gives you the right vibe for a dive bar. There is free popcorn in the back as well, so I would definitely enjoying that while sipping on cocktails. We did not actually enjoy dinner there - it was pretty standard fried and bar food, which wasn't something we wanted, but the drinks were heavy pours and the bartender and servers were super friendly! If you want local color this place is an absolute must! Very eclectic decor; historic, funny, crazy, worldly, interesting... it's fun. The included picture has a patriotic moose and just to his left are some funny signs. We sat at the bar and Meg, our bartender was fantastic. We were looking for a laid back place for a Mother's Day supper and this place was perfect!! Fun atmosphere, great music, full list of beers and a wonderful menu! I had a mushroom, onion and provolone burger that came out so hot I had to let it cool a bit before I could eat it...And when I did, it was perfectly cooked to medium and just excellent! Hubs ordered the Walleye dinner and boy, was he happy when it was served! It was huge and he devoured every bite, saying it was the best he's had in a restaurant, ever!! Lots of fun decor in a small pub. We used three tables of four for our group and had a variety of sandwiches, soups, salads and a walleye basket. No complaints - everybody was satisfied with their choices. A couple of the guys enjoyed a beer. We were appreciative of the employees, just showing up for work these days deserves some praise. We are not from the area but had seen positive reviews so we tried it for a birthday dinner. We were so disappointed in the lackluster service from seating to ordering to checking back in after food delivery. The perch was almost nonexistent in the heavy breading and the waitress just walked away when we tried to share our disappointment. Needless to say we won't be back. Took the kids half expecting to be told they weren't allowed, but there were lots of families. They had popcorn and/or peanuts to keep the kids busy and happy. They also had lots of art and taxidermy, birdhouses and fun decor for them to admire. Service was great, prompt and friendly. The food was excellent. Kids ordered a hamburger and chicken fingers, both were great. Husband and I ordered the french onion soup... oh my gosh! Both our kids (2 & 6) ended up taking our soup leaving us with their meals. This pub is a cool place. Lots of antique things hanging from the ceiling and on the walls. It definitely has a vibe that appears to attract everyone there on a Friday night. Food was excellent ! We had burgers and onion rings. Batter on the rings was light and crispy. We watched other plates of food being served and the fish looked fantastic ! We would definitely return and just hope for a better server. One bad experience won't keep us away. I'd like to think maybe she was just overwhelmed or it was her first time. Either way our food was brought out hot by another server and we had enough to drink with our meal that we only really needed her to bring the check. Had olive burger, which was good. Waitress asked if I would like to upgrade from the chips to fries. Sure I said. Bill shows up, and my ~$12.00 burger was correct, but my "up charge" for fries was $5.50! After questions it I was shown on the menu that is listed at that amount. This place was a saving grace for late night food. When we walked in we weren't sure what we were getting into. The decor is vintage and funky. There are peanut and peanut shells on the floor so if you had an allergy this would be a place to avoid. We were quickly greeted by a bartender who took our order and offered some suggestions on the menu. I had the nachos. They were MASSIVE! They were also loaded with toppings and delcious! They dont skimp on a anything. I like how they layered the cheese on allmof the levels of the chips.The prices were fair and overall, the rest of the apps and food were decent. Bartender was unbelievably unprofessional and rude. I watched her run off three customers simply because one gentleman was moving a chair at the bar so he could sit down. The number of chairs left no space to get in or out - he was simply trying to sit down. She yelled at the man in a harsh and derogatory way, when he responded he was sorry he was just making room, again she yelled in a harsh tone to sit at a table if he needed more room,m. The trio decided to leave and the bartender yelled out "Bye Bitches!" after them. Clearly this woman doesn't care if they have business or not. She mouthed off with the staff for several minutes after they left. This isn't just a customer service problem, she lacked general social skills of how you communicate to people. You can be firm without being rude. Explains why the bar was dead. I will never be back. read more

The food and service were good. However when I got the bill after I had gave them my credit card there was a 3.5% fee for using a credit card. I did not sign the receipt (which I find out you never really need to do) and told our waiter we were paying cash. We put the cash on the table and left. Of course I made a few mistakes 1) thinking if I didn't sing the receipt they wouldn't put the charge through and 2) not asking for a receipt for my cash payment. Have called them 4 times and each time the person who could help me wasn't in but they would have them call me - they have never called me back. My family and I stumbled across this place when we were in town for a wedding. It was around 10Pm and we were starving and were sent here by another restaurant as it was the only place that serves late night food. It was packed in the inside and full of amazingly unique decor. You really feel like you are at a neighborhood northern bar, and there is great service. Now to the food: huge selection of craft local beers, at reasonable prices. We ordered the perch special (lemon pepper), it was late so they only had one serving left, so I opted for the potato skins. Both were amazing with great portion sizes! The service here is a joke. 14 girls from a bachelorette party entered this bar and were immediately given attitude from the bartender. We asked how the seating and the drinks work because we wanted to be respectful and understood that we had a big group. She then began to yell at us that there were "no f*cking tables left" and walked away. I don't know how an establishment can keep around such a toxic person, based on previous 1 star reviews on here and our experience. Safe to say, we'll never return. read more
