If you're allergic to legumes, this might not be the place for you.

Let's be very clear--this is a local's place. FOOD: The portions are plentiful! I ordered cheese curds and a burger with fries...but in hindsight I should have skipped the fries. Curds were enough for a table of four. Overall taste of the food, however, is average. Despite being a good looking B&B Burger, the bacon was burnt and the burger itself didn't have much seasoning. I expected to bite in tasting a medley of flavors, but each bite was just okay. Maybe if I had a yeasty beverage or two before eating, it might help raise my opinion? TABLE SERVICE: Waitresses were prompt and helpful. BARTENDERS: Remember those honey badger YouTube videos (narrated by Randall) from 2011/12? That's what I think of when I read Yelper reviews from Brittany H. and Jay V. [in the voice of Randall]: *Mitchell Street bartenders don't care; they do what they want!* For example, when the popular 80s song, Your Love by the Outfield, came on, the 'tender on duty decided to turn it up to 11...and left it there for half the song. Locals seemed unfazed, but visitors got to the point they asked the waitress if they could turn it down. I'm guessing he didn't much care for the feedback, because he then played the song twice more. *If you're up for a rowdy atmosphere with an array of local beverages + solid bar food, I encourage you to step into this windowless venue! If you're looking for a nice, sit down meal and great tasting main dishes (OR you're allergic to peanuts)...best walk to Tap 30 next door.

This is a weird little hole in the wall bar and restaurant. Lots of wacky and unique items hung all over the walls makes for a fun conversation starter. 22 draft beers on tap and a good selection of alcohol. Food is surprisingly good. The fish was great and massive portion. The severs were very nice and did a good job despite other reviews I saw. Definitely a fun, laid back place to gran a drink and dinner.

We ate at Mitchell Street Pub twice while we were in Petoskey. The onion rings are the most amazing onion rings I think I have ever had! All of the food was hot and very tasty and service was good both times as well.

Tried this place due to some locals recommending it and was super disappointed. To start, the energy and environment are as actually cool. People were having fun and it has a dive bar vibe. It seemed cool when we walked in and our waitress was awesome. We ordered a pretzel for an appetizer and it was crazy salty and just not very good. We ordered side salads and they came out and were just okay. We ordered the salmon with a side of broccoli and coleslaw and the coleslaw was probably the worse coleslaw I've ever tasted. The broccoli also had like no seasoning on it. My grilled cheese which was supposed to be their "#1 pick" was just meh. Nothing bad with it just didn't taste flavorful. Staff was friendly but food was not good. We will mot be back.

Popped in here with family recently--loved the peanuts at the table, ambiance was fun and service was great. I don't live in the area and was just visiting but if I were to go back, I would try something else next time. I got the salmon burger and it wasn't bad but there were some other things on the menu I think I would've liked better. Everyone I was with enjoyed their meals as far as I know! Xoxo, Is this thing on?

Mitchell's was recommended from a friend as his favorite spot to go. While surprised that it was open on a Sunday, we walked in and all the decor just gives you the right vibe for a dive bar. There is free popcorn in the back as well, so I would definitely enjoying that while sipping on cocktails. We did not actually enjoy dinner there - it was pretty standard fried and bar food, which wasn't something we wanted, but the drinks were heavy pours and the bartender and servers were super friendly! I think finding out what is on the walls was actually part of my favorite thing of this bar. You never run out of something to look at!

If you want local color this place is an absolute must! Very eclectic decor; historic, funny, crazy, worldly, interesting... it's fun. The included picture has a patriotic moose and just to his left are some funny signs. We sat at the bar and Meg, our bartender was fantastic. The French Onion Soup was epic, quesadilla was well received, and a good pattymelt. So glad we stopped in. It's a local gem!

Lots of fun decor in a small pub. We used three tables of four for our group and had a variety of sandwiches, soups, salads and a walleye basket. No complaints - everybody was satisfied with their choices. A couple of the guys enjoyed a beer. We were appreciative of the employees, just showing up for work these days deserves some praise. Please add alittle more to your tip if you are happy with your service. We need these hard working people to want to keep doing their jobs!

We were looking for a laid back place for a Mother's Day supper and this place was perfect!! Fun atmosphere, great music, full list of beers and a wonderful menu! I had a mushroom, onion and provolone burger that came out so hot I had to let it cool a bit before I could eat it...And when I did, it was perfectly cooked to medium and just excellent! Hubs ordered the Walleye dinner and boy, was he happy when it was served! It was huge and he devoured every bite, saying it was the best he's had in a restaurant, ever!! Prices were quite reasonable and with Josh F as our server, we had absolutely no negatives about anything!!! Last thing I'll say...you should try it!!!

Second, the popcorn. The end. Now the bad news. Everything else. We are veterans restaurant/bar/cocktail lounge/ brewery patrons, so should've tuned into the fact that the place was empty at 7:30 even on a Tuesday night. My wife wanted a Chardonnay but was unfamiliar with one of them and asked for a taste. Seriously? What bartender sends a taste of wine in a shot glass with literally a quarter of that shot glass holding a "taste?" My wife had no idea what this wine was supposed to taste like so ordered a glass of Decoy, which was decent but quite overpriced. I ordered a Bellaire Brown out of the can which was cold & non-ruinable, thank God! We ordered a pizza with pepperoni, which used to be quite good here. Not anymore. As hard as it was to believe, in 8 slices there were NINE pieces of pepperoni. Total. We wondered if the kitchen was instructed to only use one piece per slice & maybe an extra one got slipped in by mistake. The pizza was undercooked, crust was tasteless, cheese bland, and sauce was not close to Italian. Maybe Contadina with a little oregano thrown into it. If you're a fan of Red Baron or other frozen pizza, stick to that because it's better. The best part of the pizza was the red pepper flakes we buried it with. I don't know if the new owners are cheap, unaware of why this place was once popular and populated, but we shan't be back soon. And from other recent reviews and the lack of crowd were not the only ones. Sad.

My friend ordered the kabob dinner and said it was good...but over $20 for some veggies is crazy. My gyro and truffle fries....honestly I should have just sent them back. This is one of the most disappointing meals I've had recently. They put a tomato paste on it that I almost requested without, but trusted it would be interesting. It literally tasted like cheap canned tomato paste. Gross and certainly doesn't blend well on a gyro. The lamb meat itself had a decent taste, but the way it is served makes it difficult to eat in a pita. Gyros are typically chopped or shaved lamb which makes it easier to eat and helps ensure you're getting more lamb per bite. Served in these strips, it was just falling apart and not blending with the feta. The fries...terrible. Just terrible. $6 to sub truffle fries which seems like too much but I hadn't had them in a long time so had to go for it. Listed in subs it simply says truffle fries, so I didn't know they were going to be covered in liquid cheese. They ARE listed in appetizers with the full description but I didn't look there until after bc I didn't order an appetizer. The cheese was awful, completely overwhelmed the TINY bit of truffle taste, and SO salty! Take a look at the picture and decide for yourself if the gyro and fries is worth $23. I eat a lot of gyros, and this being the most expensive one I've had is the worst. Heads up that they charge a service fee. Doesn't bother me as I always tip at least 20% but no one pointed that out and I'm not really sure what it's for. Does that go into the servers pocket or? Won't be going back to find out.

I had done a bit of research the day before .. looking for restaurants in the area. When I noticed that the Side Door had Prime Rib on special, (Wed-Sat) the decision was made. DISCLAIMER: I had eaten at the Side Door a few years ago (Cilantro Lime Shrimp W/Pasta) Me and my neighbor arrived at about 4:45PM, and were greeted with a warm smile and seated immediately ... we were kinda early for the dinner rush so there was plenty of available seating. (NOTE: When we departed about an hour after we arrived, the place was FULL and a line was forming for a table.) We both ordered the 14oz Black Angus Prime Rib (10oz also available). About the same time that we finished the first beer, dinner was served! Simply one of ... if not Thee best, PR that I have had in several years, across 11 states. My neighbor agreed. Both of us now try to plan our Petoskey trips to coincide with dinner at the Door My ONLY complaint is that the horseradish was weak. Actually, it seemed that it had been washed into submission .. totally without any flavor or "bite". The rest of the meal made up for it. (But I *will* bring some nose-incinerating, sinus-creating horseradish from home on the next planned trip.) Service: Superb. We never had to ask for anything. Drinks were refilled with perfect timing. And always smiling. She is an asset to the establishment. Driving Suggestion: Depending on the season and the time of day, if arriving from the North, it can be nearly impossible to make the left turn into the Side Door. Suggestion: Turn Right into the strip mall (KFC, AT&T, etc) and use the traffic light near the gas station to turn left, back onto the highway then a right into the Side Door Saloon for some of the best dining in the Petoskey area. Ample Parking is available. YMMV

It was pleasant and, most importantly, quiet enough to allow easy conversation with your fellow diners across a table or booth. Second in importance to my wife and I during our most recent visit to Southwoods was the food. My wife got the cod and shrimp special and said it was the BEST cod that she had ever eaten - and she loves her fish - and that the shrimp was also very good. I also felt the liver and onions were among the best that I have ever had. And the quantities were great - with both my wife and I taking half our meal home to eat for dinner this evening - and the prices were more than fair. But, most importantly to us was the service! We were served by Libby and she was FANTASTIC! She took care of all of our requests, and kept our glasses filled, while never being intrusive! On a scale of "10", I will give the ambiance and the food the maximum score of 10", but - ala the movie "We Ate Spinal Tap" - I am giving Libby an "11"! I almost said "rewarding Libby with" instead of "giving", but I feel that we were the ones rewarded by her service. We have eaten here before - though not often enough - and will continue to do so. Southwoods is definitely on our list of go-to restaurants. And, we sincerely hope that EVERY time we do dine here, our server will be Libby!
