Amanda is the rudest bartender I have every encountered. We came in for a couple chats for my brother in laws birthday after we had been axe throwing. We tried tried to order 5 shots. 2 each for me and my brother in law and one for my mother. Amanda refused to take the order saying that she "wasn't going to do that" and then she proceeded to rip my pregnant wife's water bottle out of her hand and throw it away saying she could have that inside. Water was the only thing my wife was drinking for obvious reasons. Amanda should be fired immediately. Nice small pub Tip for vacationers, bring quarters, we didn't see a close parking lot, so you might be walking. The pub is interesting and the waiter was very friendly. There are peanut shells on the floor, not uncommon but if you don't know you might slip. It smelled weird but that might have been the people next to us. My salmon burger was very good, loved the onion rings. Pub club had a lot of meat in it, fries were good as well. Low prices for a lot of food, good place to stop if you're downtown. read more

We've had a place in the area for years but never checked out Mitchell Street Pub because we have so many favorite restaurants. I'm also not super into dive-adjacent establishments with walls covered in kitschy collectibles. But Mitchell Street was pretty great! We were there during a busy Saturday lunch rush but our server Lydia was on top of everything and friendly. We had been craving coney dogs and their chili dog did not disappoint. Delicious, with a side of chili, cheese and toppings so you can assemble it to your liking. It's huge though - we ordered sides (excellent fries and onion rings) because we're used to a wimpier coney. I was also pleasantly surprised by the vintage decor because it's all authentic and some of it is local, so there aren't those fake memorabilia vibes you get from some chains. I read a review that complained about the dirty floors but if you're not into the kind of place where diners are encouraged to throw peanut shells on the floor, you probably should eat elsewhere. There was some confusion at the door because there was a long line and no host stand but that could be because they were so busy (and like every restaurant in the world, probably understaffed). I saw some folks getting huffy about it but the bartender and servers were checking in as they could, and they were super friendly and welcoming. I highly recommend Mitchell Street unless you're tightly wound and fussy. read more

NOPE...tipped 25% on a tab and treated like the enemy from start to finish. NEVER AGAIN! This was ALWAYS OUR GO TO...but clearly the customer is the new enemy. We are senior citizens coming here for the last 20 years so maybe it is ageism. Maybe it's spoiled liberals...I cannot fathom. We did not complain? Whatever. Whatever... just turned into NEVER AGAIN. This is a great throwback bar with an outstanding tap beer selection and a terrific kitchen. Extensive menu for a "dive" bar & lotsa homemade food. Apparently well-known for their array of burgers, also have amazing homemade salad dressings. Ranch and bleu cheese were outstanding! My wife couldn't finish her yummy potato skins and I enjoyed my coconut shrimp. Ask for Christy - she's a delightful doll and a real pro! read more

Was in town over NYE and needed a place to eat on 12/30 for dinner. 3 of us in total and a couple of our friends said to check this place out. Right in the heart of downtown and I think they had two entrances? One went to the bar and the other to the dining room. We got seated right away but this place was pretty busy and an ocean of people blocked the way to the bathrooms in the back. Two separate dining areas: one is the more so bar area, lots of beers on tap and the other is a more quiet dining area mostly a wall of booths by the kitchen. The decorations are funky with random pictures and things on the wall. Everywhere you look there is something new to look at. We ordered a pretzel appetizer which was decent enough to feed 3 people. The olive burger I heard from my friend was delicious and I got the Reuben sandwich. Good flavor and I also got the sweet potato fries, a little soggy tho. The bathroom was tucked all the way in the back and was very cold and old. Nothing all that great. Our waitress was fine, not overly friendly and just did her job. Even when we were done with dinner this place was still noisy and people were still coming in. Next time I am up there, I'll try something else though. read more

Had such a nice lunch at Mitchell Street Pub We ordered their Famous French Onion Soup. And it did not disappoint! It was sooooooo good! Next up was the potato skins and they were crispy on the outside and hit the spot. Last but not least, we split the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and Fries. Again, absolutely perfect! The atmosphere is chill and nostalgic. You won't get bored with all the fun stuff lining the walls and ceiling. On the way out I even got to check out the bras hanging by the door. Love it! So a group of 7 of us came up to Petoskey to have a nice relaxing day. The Back Lot and High Five was amazing!! We made our way to Mitchell Street Pub for drinks and apps. As we walked in, I admit we were a bit loud, and the waitstaff commented that we were a "shit show!" So we got seated, we were told you cannot move tables, so we just sat 4 and 3, no problem - we made it work. We ordered drinks and they delivered messed up but we shuffled and we were ok, went to order our apps and we commented to the waitress "are we being too big of a shit show to order apps?" because we heard the staff saying that within earshot of us,. We were not a shit show - just a group of hardworking peeps on a Labor Day vacation. Well our waitress said "don't give me shit lady I haven't had a day off in a month!! Good luck getting served up here!" And threw her tray on the table We were not drunk, we were having fun!! Laughing and being merry!! Guess what lady, 3 of the 7 are service workers and it was our first days off in a month!!!! I can't help it you decide to be a waitress for your job...choose wisely if you want holiday weekends off! This wasn't our first choice as we were wanting a more trendy/upscale place to eat but were turned off by the crazy high prices at such establishments in Petoskey. So we "settled" for Mitchell Street Pub. As soon as we walked in we knew we had made a good choice. The decor and atmosphere is really cool and just has a good vibe. Before we could even order, another customer seated close to us took the initiative to rave about her soup and suggested we get a bowl of it as well, which we did. The beef/potato soup is excellent. Our whole meal was high quality and at a reasonable price. We were so happy that we ended up there despite it not being our first choice. read more

This place was pretty cool and is one of the only places that stay open up here until 2am. I sat at the bar. Bartenders were nice and I also met some really cool locals who frequent the place. The bar has a lot of interesting items on the walls and ceiling. Prices were good for the beer and shots. read more

This place is exactly what i would expect to find in a small northern town, and that's a good thing! Had a very laid back, very welcoming feel. The waitress was very friendly and helpful in suggesting a beer and bringing out a sample or two. We started as a table of 4 but added one more before we ordered our entrees. Were there on a Saturday night and it was pretty busy but adding one more was no problem. When you think pub and pub food you don't think soup, but everyone loved the soup! Both the French onion and the white chicken chili were great. Warning - the white chicken chili is more like a meal. It comes with a side of cheese and tortilla chips. The fried mushrooms were the perfect appetizer. Also the burges, nachos, and Ruben all got 2 thumbs up. If you want to relax after a day on the water or a day of shopping check this place out. Really hoped for better and knew it would be crowded based upon the seasonality of when we visited however left very disappointed. We had a party of seven and were met with a very rude bartender who couldn't be bothered with a beer order despite patience and manners. Maybe a bad day but it went over poorly. Food was average at best and we ran the gamut on what was ordered (apps, French Onion soup, Patty Melt, French Dip, Grilled Chicken). Wait staff was friendly but clearly overwhelmed with the crowd, she did her best. Very overrated IMO and we've visited most all eateries in the downtown area. It's your basic dark dive bar. Would be ok for some late-night drinks and snack but with all the other options in area, I wouldn't be going for food. I have had some of the apps and sandwiches, I was told I must get the Patty Melt this past time by the waiter but unfortunetley they ran out of rye bread so it was a burger on wheat bread.
