Wow is all I can say... The male bartender with the brown hair and the enlarged belly. Sorry to pick him out but when you're willing to make a MUG of a customer then this is what you deserve. After waiting at the bar, and ordering four drinks for myself and three friends. I was told that I cannot order that and at a real pub/bar I have to wait at table to be served. I therefore obliged and went to a table... After waiting 15minutes no server arrived. So went back to the rude bartender to ask how do I order a drink? Only to be told that I have to wait for a server. Asking who the servers are? I had the bartender shrug his shoulders an turn his back. I left at that point because of the lack of hospitality. You have no right to call yourselves a pub. Honestly a disgrace to the name pub and Petosky. Shame on you. read more

My husband and I ate dinner here after a full day of biking on the Little Traverse Wheelway followed by mini-golf. I like the cozy pub feel, with old-fashioned photos on the walls, dark wood booths, and a super-friendly staff. We were surprised at the number of vegetarian options for a pub in a small northern Michigan town. In addition to the veggie burger, they also have a veggie sandwich, grilled cheese, vegetarian nachos and a number of other vegetarian appetizers big enough to serve as a light dinner. I had the Whoppin' Walleye, and the amount of food you get for the price is ridiculous. I suggested my husband get his veggie burger sans sides so he could help me finish off my meal, which included a lightly-breaded but huge piece of walleye (delicious), fries, garlic bread and cole slaw. They also have a good selection of Michigan beers to go with your food; Hubby had an Oberon and I had a Soft Parade from Short's Brewing. First time here. It will take your 3 beers to look at everything on the walls... it is amazing!!!!! The staff is super friendly and the selection of Michigan craft beer is really great! The shell on roasted peanuts are that true touch of class that every great bar should have! This is a MUST if your in town and a great local hang out. Prices are very fair and you won't leave hungry. I came here on the recommendation of a friend who knows her way around Petoskey. Initially I was a little put off by how DARK this bar is. I was walking with a cane following surgery, and found myself a little scared that I might not see something. I like a cozy dark bar as much as anyone, but this was over the top! I ordered the olive burger on the recommendation of another reviewer. First you should know that I eat 3-4 burgers a year max. They aren't high on my hit list. Second, I am not terribly fond of olives unless they are good. This selection was risky at best for me. BOY, DID IT PAY OFF! the burger was juicy, the olive mixture with some mayo etc. was heavenly, the bun was good quality, yum! I can't stop thinking of it, and may have to take my husband there soon! The service was friendly and kind. I have no complaints at all, but nothing special. This was just a nice unpretentious place where you can go to heaven with a burger! I give them four of five stars only because the darkness of the place was a bit intimidating for a person dealing with getting around. read more

Being city dwellers, we neglected to realize everything in Petoskey closed at 9 pm, and when we ventured out for dinner, the only place open was Mitchell Street. However, this didn't turn out to be a bad thing. The restaurant has a casual pub atmosphere complete with jukebox and peanut shells strewn on the floor. All sorts of vintage paraphernalia adorned the walls, which we found fun to look at (giant moose head above the bar anyone?). Our server was pleasant and the food was good. There was a wide variety of beers available as well. Fun experience, good food and bring coins to pay for the parking meters. read more

I'm not even s beer drinker, yet they have a fantastic selection of beer. Many MI beers on tap! I had the awesome coffee and it was pretty awesome. He had a few of the MI beers including the Kentucky Breakfast Stout, tonga vanilla porter and Gonzos porter nitro. I had the turkey Ruben and it was just okay. He had the buffalo chicken sandwich and it was also just okay. Chips were stale. It's clear that this is a drink place rather than a food place. Service wasn't great. read more

If you serve peanuts in the shell and beer you already are awarded 4 out of 5 stars from me. This being said, their olive burger was pretty damn good too. The server we had was semi-friendly but there is a sign in here that says "beware of attack waitress" so I can't say I wasn't forewarned. Overall cozy enjoyable pub with pretty darn good apps/foods. read more

This was a dimly lit bar filled with delightful treasures! I had several giggles just noticing/exploring all the different signs and random decor. The bartender was welcoming and very helpful to point out some local places to visit. my drink was average, but the nacho skins were delicious!! I need a nap now because they were so heavy. Definitely your local landmark bar and restaurant. This place has a lot of character, is one of the oldest bars in the area which is pretty cool. The food is bar food but very very good bar food. Last time I was here was around the same time last year. Then, it was great. Now, not so much. From when we got in we didn't get our food for another hour. Half way through that the waiter came by our table and said they were out of turkey burgers, which is fine, but he notified us of that about 40 minutes after we ordered. I ordered the chicken quesadilla and it was hardly warm. When the waiter came through to give us the bill he didn't subtract the two turkey burgers we ordered that couldn't be fulfilled. It took so long to get anything from the waiter. Luckily it was raining and we weren't in a hurry but the service was not great at all. Loved this place the last times we went. Maybe this was just an off day or they were short staffed. Two stars because the decor is awesome and you can throw peanuts on the floor. read more

Portion of the grilled salmon was very small. Barely any rice and small piece of fish. My girlfriend ordered a grilled chicken spinach salad and they didn't give her the walnuts or cranberries. I love the pub and i've been eating at this place since I was a little kid. It has a funky decor on the inside, peanut shells all over the floor, etc. Food is typical bar food but it is beyond amazing. I have never had a bad meal here.... my favorites include, the french dip, onion rings, chicken nachos, burgers, grilled cheese, french onion soup and the potato skins.... get yourself a side of their ranch dressing and you are set! This place has always been a staple of mine for as long as I can remember. While I no longer live in Northern Michigan, I always made sure this establishment was a place I would go to as It felt like home. For me it went downhill and fast when the business exchanged hands. Hands down The best bartender was Amy S. Always Johnny on the spot. Friendly, outgoing and always could make you laugh no mater what. Now that she's no longer there, along with many other long term employees I came accustom to, I just see no reason to come here anymore. Also, the food just isn't that great anymore. Seems like they have changed products or companies of which they get their food from. Regardless, plenty of other places in the downtown area who will appreciate my money. read more

This place has had a lot of turnover in both ownership and staff over the years, but it's still my favorite bar in Petoskey. I often get the french-dip sandwiches are they are my favorite in northern Michigan, but most of the food is great. The nachos are also good if you are splitting an order. The only time I had a questionable meal was the fish sandwich. If you're going out bar-hopping, definitely add this to your list of spots. My friends and I usually make this our last stop. LOVE! Mitchell Street is one of my favorite places to eat. The burgers are to die for, and the cheese comes free! (which is rare anymore). They start you with peanuts while you wait and you are encouraged to throw the shells on the ground. Fun place, I wouldn't say so much kid friendly, after all it is a bar! read more

We had the worst service I have ever experienced. I am a local and was catching up with an old friend. the waitress was very short with the couple down the bar, then when my friend inquired about the price of his drink she proceeds to ask him if he needs a loan or a job to pay for his drinks. I would not recommend this place unless you enjoy being belittled and rushed to order so your bar tender can stand at the end of the counter talking to her friend. read more
