We enjoyed closing the night at the Noggin and then stumbling back to our rooms. This is a super cool spot. The pics don't do it justice. The bartender was always upbeat and happy to help. They didn't have a huge variety of beer on tap but they did have beers and assorted drinks in the cooler. They also had a variety of liquor options. We didn't eat but the food coming out looked really good! Definitely a place to check out when you are in the area! read more

Sooooo disappointing! If you read my two previous reviews, you will see that we USED to love this place. All gone! First the good: Nice servers who are really trying. Second, the popcorn. The end. Now the bad news. Everything else. We are veterans restaurant/bar/cocktail lounge/ brewery patrons, so should've tuned into the fact that the place was empty at 7:30 even on a Tuesday night. My wife wanted a Chardonnay but was unfamiliar with one of them and asked for a taste. Seriously? What bartender sends a taste of wine in a shot glass with literally a quarter of that shot glass holding a "taste?" My wife had no idea what this wine was supposed to taste like so ordered a glass of Decoy, which was decent but quite overpriced. I ordered a Bellaire Brown out of the can which was cold & non-ruinable, thank God! We ordered a pizza with pepperoni, which used to be quite good here. Not anymore. As hard as it was to believe, in 8 slices there were NINE pieces of pepperoni. Total. We wondered if the kitchen was instructed to only use one piece per slice & maybe an extra one got slipped in by mistake. The pizza was undercooked, crust was tasteless, cheese bland, and sauce was not close to Italian. Maybe Contadina with a little oregano thrown into it. If you're a fan of Red Baron or other frozen pizza, stick to that because it's better. The best part of the pizza was the red pepper flakes we buried it with. I don't know if the new owners are cheap, unaware of why this place was once popular and populated, but we shan't be back soon. And from other recent reviews and the lack of crowd were not the only ones. Sad. read more

On our first night in Petoskey, we stopped in for fish and chips while staying at the Perry Inn. The food and service were both decent--nothing extraordinary, but enjoyable. The bar had a lively vibe and the music was fantastic. After a walk around town, we returned later that evening to catch more of the live music and enjoy a few cocktails. There happened to be a wedding going on, and the energy was high--the place was packed and buzzing. All in all, a fun night out with a great atmosphere. read more

Keeping up with tradition, we found the Noggin Room Pub was ready for St Patrick's Day. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. Dressed in their favorite Irish clothing and hats made everyone feel they were in Ireland. To top it off the entertainment was singing Irish songs and providing trivia on who was Irish by singing their songs. Food was delicious and service was impeccably good. read more

How does a well known, respected, and highly regarded establishment fail? I'll tell you. You walk in on a Tuesday night during Fourth of July week and the place is empty. Every other restaurant in town is hopping. Why? Start with the staff. While the hostess was helpful in suggesting that we consider food to go and eat on their beautiful veranda it seemed a bit confusing so we opted to dine at the bar. Ugh. It was pretty empty too. The bartender arrived without a smile or a greeting. After a few questions about the drink and food menu it was obvious we were in for a rough ride. No suggestions. No feedback, just a look of pain on her face as if we were wasting her time. Then the food arrives. Wow. The whitefish tasted like a shithouse door on a tuna boat. Seriously bad. The French dip was equally as bad but somewhat edible. We shared it. Wow. What happened to this once great place. And we completely wasted one night dinner on this mess when there are so many options. Stafford's once was a premier name. Not anymore. read more

It's pretty bad when the best thing about your visit was the free popcorn appetizer. Our server was very diisengaged and acted like we were wasting her time. Never checked on us throughout the meal. Found this pub thanks to Yelp and thoroughly enjoyed it. Clearly a local hangout, with live music on a Friday night. The food was very good - burgers, wings, French onion soup, fries, fish tacos were great and the whitefish was excellent. Popcorn on the table, while incredibly salty, was great with our drinks. Service was Friday night slow and waitresses were a bit harried but all good. Would go back any time! read more

I thought everything was fantastic. It's a little off the beaten path of the Main Street but we'll worth the extra 2 min walk. The ambience is dark and moody and everything you'd expect a pub to be. The complimentary popcorn is a nice added touch. We enjoyed listening to the live singer as well. 10/10 would recommend the spinach and artichoke dip and garlic noggin bread. Both were fantastic appetizers that we inhaled in about 2 minutes. The service was excellent as well. Our glasses were never empty and the food was delivered quickly. Nachos put on paper and put in oven, so they suck to the paper. No taste. Boring. Had to ask other wait staff to find our server as we sat for over 15 minutes without seeing her to order. Others had "pretty good" burgers. read more

So we had a much better experience this trip (and have come back twice for drinks in the "outdoor" Noggin Room. The food is great and the views are sublime. The menu has been pared down substantially (beware that online postings are mostly out of date). The house burger is HUGE. The "kid's" burger is a quarter pounder and more than enough food. Onion rings are delicious, salads are fresh and seasonal. We hate that COVID impacted the Perry's wedding business so substantially but it's been amazing to enjoy the summer al fresco with views of the bay. Come for the sunsets! read more

So the food and price are a straight two stars. I am so sad that I wasn't a fan of their pickle pizza after I read so many people raving about it here. I think the huge chunks of garlic threw me off as well as I was hoping for dill pickles and not sweet. My husband got a normal burger and asked to have no onions and the classic happened where it still had an onion on it. He has a pretty bad food aversion to them so he had to scrape off the cheese to avoid any potential taste of it. What's sad is that the place wasn't busy so I am not sure how our only request got messed up. The ambience was great, the live band/singer was great, I enjoyed our drinks, and the popcorn was a welcomed touch. But spending $88 on something that easily should have been $30-$40 max will keep us from coming back and trying something else. read more

Our server, Emir, was a great guy and there happened to be a concert while we were eating. Nice restaurant with good food. Although the pizza was not as great as the fish. I've been here several times before, however I felt a decline in quality. The restaurant wasn't super busy, but our server seemed to not find enough time to check in on us nor the other tables they were supposed to be serving. One patron accidentally broke a glass and another server came to help instead of the one we shared was not coming. Food was fine, it wasn't anything to write home about. I could get this at Applebee's. Overcooked food, disappointing service, and the whole place only had tourists eating there. Makes sense why the locals aren't here much! read more

Food didn't taste bad but was mediocre at best. Service was the same. Four in group got the haddock which was recommended. Fish and chips mediocre. Fish tacos good, fish sandwich was ok but messy. Don't waste your money on the Parmesan crusted haddock. The scalloped potatoes were a premade puck next to barely warm asparagus. The fish was served on a burnt plank with burnt cheese on top, barely warm. The burger was the way to go. read more

Recently discovered my new favorite restaurant bar in Petoskey located inside the Perry hotel . They offer free popcorn when you dine in, it's so salty and addicting don't spoil your appetite ! Most weekend nights in summer they have live music which makes the visit entertaining. They have a bacon pickle pizza that's GREAT! Additionally the fried chicken sandwich and whitefish are the other two dishes I've tried . Both were very enjoyable . We will make Noggin Room a part of our future visits up north for years to come read more

The Noggin Room is a great place to find out all the stuff you don't know during Wednesday Night Trivia! It was fast paced and a lot of fun! We enjoyed the popcorn while waiting for our dinner. The New England clam chowder was creamy and delish. I loved the Perry Bibb salad, which was chocked full of berries, walnuts, dried cherries, and a small slice of fruit bread. My husband enjoyed the large portion of chicken quesadillas. The menu is diverse and includes pizza, sandwiches, planked whitefish, soups, pasta, and a ton of appetizers. We parked in the parking lot beside the building. You can enter the Noggin Room, which is in the basement of the Perry Hotel, from the front or the lobby. Go early if Trivia Night is in your plans to get a seat and order dinner. read more

Just had a great family meal, reasonably priced and a very attentive waitress (Sarah) . When we asked for recommendations she was spot on! Started with a Caesar salad which had a delicious dressing and bread. Pizza was very tasteful and big enough for 2. Kids meal was perfect size. We got a little turned around, if you aren't from The area, the parking is mostly street parking. Bring quarters. The pub is clean, nicer than a regular pub. Our waitress was new I think, she didn't come back often and they weren't packed. The host doesn't meet you at the door, you have to find the popcorn maker. Free popcorn is nice, but if you have never been here, you might be left waiting at the door. A manager or maybe owner was asking how the food was, checking on tables. We got a small side salad, basic salad, nothing fancy. Ordered a large pizza with bacon, Italian sausage, and red and green peppers. I liked the pizza a lot, lots of cheese! Well when you start with a beer called huma Luna licious , you know u might be in for a fun time! Located in basement of a historic hotel. Great decor. Female folk singer was singing all evening. Shared fish tacos - pretty decent. Also had buffalo chicken dip. Though I'm not a blu cheese lover, this one sure tasted good! Served with plenty of chips and celery. Waitress was great. We were staying here for a wedding and went in prior to to have a drink which we paid for and we were rudely greeted and told we could not sit at a table as they were for paying customers. Which we were. There was plenty of empty tables in the restaurant at the time. After the wedding that was supposed to be our spot for drinks and after our snacks and they closed within a half an hour of us getting down there and the majority of us do not get anything to drink or eat. I stopped in with a friend who is a big fan. We were mostly here for drinks but also had some wings. I can say if all of the food is as good as the wings, then I need to come back. They had a cherry BBQ sauce is awesome. My friend wanted to know where to buy it and we were told that it is made in house. The pub is under the Perry Hotel and has an old-timey tavern feel. There are several glass mugs hanging. My friend said there is a challenge to try all of the beers and have your own mug. We were here during the middle of the day so it was fairly quiet. The waitress gave us great service, though she may have had more time to chat as as there were only a few tables. I was also a fan of the popcorn she brought to the table along with our drinks. read more
