INCREDIBLE. My friend was telling me about the Parmesan crusted walleye and how delicious it was. I decided I had to try it out for myself. It did not disappoint. While the service wasn't very speedy, the food made up for it. One weird thing I noticed was instead of sports or normal television channels on, funny animal videos played instead. Five stars for lunch. Perfectly grilled and juicy chicken sandwich with lettuce, tomato, pickles and chipotle mayo served with chips. Excellent. The Turkey Reuben sandwich was on point as well. It's a nice outpost on your way to and from Walloon, but the business model is lopsided. They try to cater to the well-to-do clientele by offering decent to very good liquor but severely up-charging for pours. The alternative is cheap beer. I suppose their middle ground might be mixed drinks? My takeaway from my visit was that if you're interested in a nicer tier liquor, they deep gouge. Blanton's is great, it's expensive everywhere...it's not $40 for a 1.5oz pour anywhere but here. Same goes for the Small Batch Jack Daniels...I just didn't realize it also was $40 a pour, until I saw my tab! I didn't think to start the conversation by asking, "What's your most affordable whiskey?"... although you may want to. Service was good, ambiance was nice. I will say that the bartender did pour me a little Blanton's beyond my order since he didn't warn me about the price of the JD, having already known that I didn't want to pay $40 for an ounce aha a half pour. read more

Finally came back on a Friday afternoon. We were pretty much the only ones there (expected though, since it was about 2 pm). I ordered the Walleye basket and it was excellent. Our server was great, she was very attentive and friendly. The food was hot and came out quickly. No complaints and the prices were reasonable. read more

We're in town for a wedding and Everytime we passed this place it was busy. We figured we'd give it a try, they didn't seem packed like the other days. We went inside, waited to be sat down for just a few moments. Once we were seated, water was brought to our table and that was it. We looked over the menu, decided what we wanted and waited for someone to arrive. Then we waited some more, then a little more. Just about every waitress/waiter passed by our table. No one took our drink order or asked if we wanted food. After waiting 20 minutes and seeing people be helped that walked in and seated themselves before us. Then the topper to make us want to leave. We have been to this bar/restaurant before approximately a year to year and an half ago and the food and service was good. We were there tonight and the bar tender (who's dad delivered our food, assuming she may have been the owner's daughters seeing she referred to him as "dad" ?) waited on us, took our order and served us one drink. I asked about the fish being battered on the walleye basket meal versus being breaded on the walleye sandwich and she seemed irritated at my question and said it's all cooked the same way! When her "dad" delivered our food we had to flag him back down for silverware and napkins as his daughter/bartender was chatting with someone at the bar and didn't pay any attention to us and we couldn't even get her attention for salt, pepper, catsup etc. Short of the story, never asked how our meal was, never offered another cocktail, never asked if we would like anything else, gave us our bill without even a thank you. I have been server and bartender for many years and have never had such rude service. It wasnt that she was busy, it was intentional. Food was hot but mediocre at best. We have many friends in this area that are boaters and will definitely let them know NOT to go here for food or drinks. The staff running the skating rink at the "event center" are the BEST. it was my daughter's and I first time their. my skates wheels broke off and they where kind enough to fix them. I'm terrible with names so I cannot mention the staff envolved but God knows who you are and I am so grateful. I highly recommend you all go and visit the place with your family. read more

This place is historic (has been here over 100 years, they say) and it absolutely ROCKS!! Short but solid tap beer selection. EXTENSIVE bourbon collection. Clean as a whistle and updated by the latest owners. Kirt, who is one of them, seems to do all the cooking and makes virtually everything from scratch most often with fresh, not frozen, ingredients. He told us he has traveled the country over the years, working various jobs and has collected and tweaked numerous "recipes," although he says he is one of those kitchen people who chooses to adjust to taste as he goes instead of following recipes that call for specific measures. Whatever he does, IT WORKS!! The shrimp basket had THE BEST large fried shrimp I've ever tasted. Hand battered with the lightest touch - lighter than tempura. Outstanding! The sloppy sliders were also amazing and are a surprise that I won't spoil here. Fries are different and special as well. Do not hesitate - GO!! read more

I have driven by what was the Walloon Lake Junction a million times. I stopped in yesterday on what amounts to a whim. It has "shorten" its name to The Junction after a renovation to the building in September '22 and a couple of new owners who are breathing new life into this spot. The chef calls it a place for "red-neck meats" but with some high-end twists. The chef (yes, they have a chef in this hip little spot) is classically trained and can make the ordinary pretty great. Like the "wings" on the menu. They aren't wings at all. They baked chicken thighs and then flash fry them. The skin was crispy. The meat juicy! The sweet/spicy sauce was perfect. Great "wing" appetizer! Then I ordered the Olive Burger. It's a Michigan bar staple so I had to try it. Once again, chef added his own twist to this hand-pattied burger. The traditional olive sauce is made with mayonnaise. His is made with cream cheese. It was amazing! And to top off an already delicious burger, add the fries. These aren't boring. He cuts these into what looks like twisted Nike swooshs. Crunchy texture with a nice seasoning. We really enjoyed the staff, the bar area and someday hope to sit in the dining room area where the fireplace has a roaring fire going. Don't drive by this place. Stop in. This place has a bar area with high tops and a dining area with a stone fireplace. We walked in and were told we couldn't sit in the dining area even though there were tables available. Definitely felt that because the owner didn't know us or know we live in the area that we were going to be treated differently. And that's exactly what happened. It was not a busy night in fall yet we waited 15 minutes at the table before anyone approached us. Placed our order and waited another 15 minutes before they brought us the water we asked for. We watched what appeared to be the owner and his family or staff sit at a table ignoring the customers and work that needed to be done. When the owner got up, he introduced himself to another table while again ignoring us. Food arrived almost an hour after we arrived. Needless to say, first and last time we visit. read more

they didn't know how to cook an $18 hamburger that doesn't come with fries. Their fries are stupid like big antler horns that you can't even dip into catch up. Their. coleslaw made me sick after I realized that I was eating warm terrible food the waitress owner doesn't seem to know anything about the restaurant industry. read more

Stopped in for a burger and a beer. Medium burger was r are, beer was not what I ordered, (did not send back as bottle was open already and it was a beer that I drink from time to time, just not what was ordered.) We sat at a hight top table across from the bar, bar tender spoke to us from behind the bar. That felt very impersonal, when the were only three people at the bar and one other table. During our time at the establishment we learned that the bartender was a owner. Hopefully next time the service and quality will be better. read more

Although they were busy, we still received great service. Food was really good too. We had the junction burger, nachos and wings. Draft beers and rum & coke were all good as well.
