We were running errands n the area and had a light lunch. We were hungry and I suggested we try something new. We went to Sage and sat at the bar for happy hour. Sonia and her daughter were running the bar and they were very nice informative and engaging. We ordered the happy hour wine and some 1/2 off appetizers, bang bang shrimp and shrimp cocktail. Both served as full size appetizers. Then we both ordered the filet medallions and was cooked perfectly. The bordelaise sauce was very deep and flavorful and I also ordered a side of bernaise which was also good. We enjoyed our experience and will be back to try the walleye. Sonia said it was great so I will trust her recommendation. My only criticism is the bread in the basket. The butter good the bread not so much. Other reviews say what I'm going to say... they act like they have no reservations available until late and then when you get there the whole place is open with only 2 tables seated. I get being short staffed but the business they could've lost by acting like they can't seat you... when they definitely can. Food was decent. They are very stingy on dressings and seasonings. All of our salads needed a side of dressing. Steak frites was bland. The medallions were good because they had a sauce. Atmosphere is nice. read more

We called for seating on a Saturday and Shawn told us he couldn't accommodate us until 8:30 which was perfect for us and allowed us to avoid the dinner crowd. Unbeknownst to us, we visited during petosky restaurant showcase week and Sage was a participating restaurant with a special 3 course menu with amazing choices! Each one in our party of 3 had a different entree and we all were well pleased! The wild mushroom gnocchi soup was my starter and I'd return just for it! My husband and mom had the seafood chowder and both commented that it was amazing. Entrees: prime rib- cooked med rare - excellent, filet- slightly overcooked to order but still melt in your mouth and lobster tail reported slightly overcooked as well. Mt entree was the Mediterranean pasta and it was excellent and the shrimp in it were perfect!! Dessert: tiramisu-,two orders and both dinners loved it. I savored my chocolate torte! Becky was attentive and very personable as our waitress! I'm not sure where you can go for a quality 3 course meal with excellent service these days for $45/person these days but if you happened to be in the area for restaurant showcase week, I'd highly recommend this as one of your stops! I may regret writing this review as this place is amazing and I want to keep it a secret, but that would not be fair to the amazing staff here. Even with being short staffed, the staff did an amazing job taking care of our party of 5. Bartender was awesome while she not only served us cocktails while we were waiting for our table, but she was serving food to folks at the bar as well. All with a smile! Cannot tell you how nice it is to see a person taking pride in not only their craft, but their attitude. Dined with friends at the Sage on Thursday, 1/23/25 and had our usual waitress Debra. The restaurant was starting to fill up early, but the crazy manager decides to start running the vacuum cleaner and what a damper that was to the atmosphere and our cocktail time. I cannot believe that someone thought she was suitable to be in charge of such a lovely restaurant. The service was excellent and the food was great. We waited again for a very long time after we were seated to get attention from a waitress. The manager offered each couple a complimentary hors d'oeuvre. They arrived just barely warm. Long over due..Sage used to be one of my places to dine, eat cheese & drink great wine! Dined on & off since they opened. Love the atmosphere..Good staff & menu. Dinned this past 2023 as we went for my dad's b day that's on Xmas Eve. We went on the 23rd or the 26th can't recall. Anyway we had a party of 6. I wasn't there until my parents, aunt & uncle ( who dined there frequently) were seated. I was surprised since it wasn't busy. That they sat us @ the largest table. Or IDK maybe my uncle choose it.. Anyway the table was one of the largest. Enough room for the Sopranos! Hard to hear each other especially for my elderly parents. IDK I wasn't the cruise director on this dinner. We all ordered drinks as I drank a ACFree wine & happy they had it! My mom ordered a Chard, dad a Budweiser. As well we ordered our entree. Salads were nice soups as well. As they all were nicely served. Nice portions. Unfortunately my $40 -$45 N.Y.strip was delayed. Ordered M.R. It came out, very thin, cold ish, tough & overcooked. I never ever complain as I knew the server & normally keep the peace. However my mom was paying & I just had to speak up. I sent it back. Served me a new steak, yet again, thin, tad warmer temp. overcooked & flavorless. Terrible, it tasted as if it came fr Sysco or Gordon's. I did end up taking it to go after I had a few bites not to complain as they stopped serving. I always give the server & kitchen the benefit of the doubt. Before myself.. I took it as I had it w/ breakfast & eggs nxt AM. Our server did take it off the bill. As the bill was presented & we weren't asked if we wanted dessert as I had to request that w/ a candle for my dad, as it was his B.Day. I don't think it was comped. As there was issue w/ the bill & re adjusted. As we got the bill noticed that my uncles eas on ours, the wine my mom had was $18 a glass! X 2! As she wasn't asked if she wanted the house or nxt up. Nor did my mom think to ask. I'm stumped on what wine tho I know it was about a $18-$20 per bottle retail. I know wine is jacked up. But this wasn't worth it @ an $18 glass. Not going to go on any more as it is what it is. But My mom wasn't happy @ all nor will she go back..I'm not sure either.. Maybe the bar as it's great. Stopped up here to try this place out, was in town checking out fall colors and up north. Like the interior and native artwork inside a lot! The menu options were really nice and diverse, pasta, steak, duck but I went with the local great lakes walleye. Nice flavor, texture and sides were great also. Service was great also. The service was good although it was difficult to hear the server because she wore a face sheild. Again no big deal. The food was very good. Gorgeous restaurant in the Odawa casino. Featured a huge seating area, great for big families like my own. The food preparation is beautiful with the flowers on every plate making it feel like you're on vacation! Food taste delicious but the down size is the portion sizes are overall on the small side for the prices you pay. The restaurant has never been busy whenever I've been there, so the service is usually great. We ordered the scallops and shrimp to start and the chicken piccata, which were both fresh and well cooked! Also got to try the Walleye which was also amazing and came with nice sides of asparagus and rice. read more

Not only was it one of the best dinners I've had in years, it was priced at only $34 - very reasonable for the huge portions and superb quality ingredients.
