We had just finished a sail and needed a place for lunch. The wait at the most popular place was 30 minutes, so we wandered the main street and came upon Marek's. There were only 8 other people in the place, but it was comfortable and the service was quick and friendly. We ordered the Fish and Chips and a Chicken and Gouda Salad. The fish and chips were very disappointing as there was only 4 little pieces of fish. The fries were good though. It was not at all worth $21.00. The salad was ample enough, but the chicken was dry and the dressing was way too sweet. The shredded gouda did add an interesting flavor profile. I can't say we would recommend eating here.

If you're going to seat people outside during dinner hours on the weekend, take those that are on the list, and don't allow people sitting at the bar to change their minds and sit outside when the weren't on the outside list! Very poor customer service!

We had a wonderful dinner at Marek's in Charlevoix! I had the whitefish entrée -- perfectly breaded and paired nicely with carrots. My wife loved her vegetarian fettuccine, which was full of hearty vegetables and beautifully seasoned. We sat outside on a perfect summer evening, and the ambiance was just right. Service was excellent, and even the kids enjoyed their meals. Highly recommend for a relaxed and delicious evening out!

Amazing lake perch! Great service and such a cozy inside! Also great cocktails! Looking forward to going back in the summer for the upstairs rooftop area!

Got the pomegranate lemon mule to drink, was super refreshing! Then for dinner I had the Chicken Marsala Fettuccine, it was super different since I normally don't have chicken Marsala as pasta, I really liked it. Heavy gravy type sauce that made it a comfort type meal. I would get again.

We had dinner at Mareck last night, my husband, my son and I. It was great, very warm decor, extremely friendly and helpful staff and delicious food. Their daily specials, are very reasonable and generous and delicious , my husband and I had the perch dinner, very fresh perch lightly battered with carrots and mashed potatoes, it was very tasty. My son had the the NY strip steak, that was grilled just the way he asked, it was a generous and tender 16oz NY strip steak, with whipped potatoes and carrots. We didn't have room for dessert, but it sounded very tempting. We can't wait to try the Wednesday night special , Prime Rib beef stroganoff only $16 dollars. I highly recommend , this place is quickly becoming our next favorite in town.

Marek's Harbor Grill is probably the best and only fine dining spot in Charlevoix. It definitely exceeded my expectations. Our server, Chris was wonderful to chat with. She made good recommendations, and knows the dishes well. My friend and I ended up ordering the mussels & garlic appetizer which was light enough to not fill up on, but very flavorful. For the main course, we ordered the 20 oz cut of prime rib. I'm a big fan of prime rib, and this one ranks in my top 2. It was exceptional. Marek's is now a must-do on my future visits to Charlevoix.

I am updating this review since I have tried more restaurants to realize that Whitefish has a distinct smell by nature. A chef can do better to mask the smell which in this dish fell short.

Burger is great! Service was great and the 1/2 price burger is worth going in during a snow storm.

The restaurant is tired, dirty, and way overpriced. Also, the music is obscenely loud.

Well I couldn't get a reservation in the fall so my girlfriend and I tried again while taking a ski trip to Boyne Mountain . Yes, The location and ambiance is fabulous . We were graciously greeted and sat at table # 1 right by the windows looking out to the frozen lake truly a great table. Our waitress Janice a local greeted us and was very nice. Janice did a great job going through the menu which I will added the prices were very fare . The wine and cocktail list were also impressive with a wide offering in price and choice. We decided on a Malbec to start. Then they brought out a the welcoming taste of salmon pate on a cucumber which we both found to be very tasty . After reviewing the menu we chose to bypass an appetizer for fear of just getting too much food and not finishing our dinner . After I told my girlfriend how good whitefish is in Michigan we both ordered that instead of the salmon or short ribs that also looked enticing. . Before our entree was served we had the warm bread and garlic butter that was terrific and tempting to eat the whole basket . Our dinners were served very quickly even though the restaurant was sold out . As we took the first bites of the white fish I was extremely disappointed . The breading had absolutely zero seasoning or flavor . The fish was flaky and cooked perfectly but the breading was completely flavorless taking away from the fish. Neither of us finished the dish and my girlfriend tried adding salt just to get some flavor but it didn't make it any better . I was going to order dessert but we were so disappointed after our dinner we chose to bypass dessert . . I did order a coffee since they didn't have cappuccino. I will say the coffee was very good , but what good restaurant doesn't have a cappuccino machine . As a side note the bathroom very nicely decorated in old wine box shingles on the wall and was very clean . I gave 3 stars simply because the Walloon Inn has been around so long and highly acclaimed as one of the better restaurants in the area. This was very disappointing . I may come back with my business partner and hope my experience will be better . Until next time .

Her warmth and friendliness was matched by the staff who made our dining experience so comfortable. We were promptly seated and received outstanding service. Portions were large and meals come with bread and a house antipasto salad. Our meals were exceptional. My wife had Chicken Saltimbocca and I tried Linguine with Salmon. Chicken was flavorful; salmon was perfect; the pasta was 4 star. The food was so good that we even ventured into a dessert (rare for us). We tried a lemon cake with glaze and VERY fresh strawberries; it was wonderful. A small restaurant that is a gem and well worth it. An outstanding dining experience. This restaurant is definitely on the smaller side but it has such the cutest charm! I ordered the Salmon Piccata with a side of Caesar salad, and pasta with oil, garlic, and butter. The Salmon Piccata was perfectly cooked; however, I wish it had a tad more seasoning (maybe a tad more salt or simply lemon juice) since I truly had to rely on the capers for any acidity. The Caesar salad has to be one of the best I've ever had--it honestly had the punch of lemony boquerones. If you truly love anchovies, I highly recommend ordering it with some extra anchovies! Lastly, the pasta was just as expected, but it was still delicious! Pro tip if you order the salmon piccata: dip the pasta in the lemon and white wine sauce--you'll thank me later!
