My parents and I ate at Stiggs just after getting into town. We were hungry and the menu looked good! Keith provided excellent service and great recommendations for both food and drinks! The restaurant is gorgeous, with bottle cap art everywhere. The food was fantastic: we tried the smoked pork tacos, the brisket sandwich, and the Cubano. All of which were very tasty and the upgrade for a side of fries was a good choice! We had brussel sprouts for an app and they were awesome. There are a good variety of beer options on tap as well! My wife had the Stiggs Brisket Pasta (I tasted it and wowsers it was great) and I had the Blistered Brussel Sprouts along with the Smoked Wings (with the house rub). I had the Honey Cinnamon Brown Ale (7.2 ABV) and the NoMI Blackout Stout - Nitro (9.1% ABV) to drink. Wow - what a great lunch. Wonderful flavors. I couldn't finish the wings and my wife couldn't finish her pasta but I did finish the Brussel sprouts. The flavors will bring me back. I love the beer flavors. Service was great. I was there around 2:00 on a Tuesday it's not the busiest part of the day but the time of day did not affect the quality of our visit. Would we return? Heck yeah. Was it worth our hour drive? I ordered from the food truck at the UP Beer Festival. The BBQ pork was fine, almost good. The brisket was entirely flavorless even though despite being more than 1/2 fat. The fries (which said salt and pepper on the sigh) had no salt or pepper. They were the thick fat fries so it was like chewing on a dried, plain baked potato. My partner ordered the Mac and cheese waffle cone, which he liked. The BBQ made me sad that a cow died to be so flavorless. read more

There were more negatives than positives about Stiggs. I saw the previous reviews about having to bus your own tables. Surprisingly enough, someone came by and bussed our table! If only that made everything else better. We followed all the directions. We got our menus and sat down. We went to the bar and tried to order. After no one came (I'm sure bartender was busy) then I ordered at front door. The person working that area did not seem to like that idea. They tried to instruct me to order at the bar. Finally, they took my order after explaining that no one came to side bar. The food came out pretty quickly. I ordered smoked salmon. Let me preface with saying that I like some salt on my food. But my goodness, it was the saltiest dish I have ever had. It was a shame because the salmon did not need any extra salt. And the mashed potatoes were inedible due to oversalting. The beer was okay. But you have to get up and go order more drinks or get your refills. I think I would not mind this so much if on the bill - I am asked to give 18, 20, or 25% tip. I love rewarding good staff with a nice tip but it did not even feel right to give them 18%. But I did. I would skip this place next time you are in Boyne City. Stopped in on a whim after being at Boyne Mountain and sat at the bar. The bartender was very nice and explained the menu, what's made in house and the drinks. We went by here during a weekend stay in Boyne City and we were completely wowed by the delicious bbq and beer. We ordered the brisket platter, pulled pork sandwich, and kids meals and enjoyed a few IPAs. Every part of the meal down to the sides like potato salad and fries were notably great. Pretty good spot right in the heart or Boyne and walking distance from our Airbnb. They have life music on Friday and Saturdays. Their vegetarian options are slim but their spicy house fries make up for it! They have some great beers and cocktails too. The service was attentive and friendly. We're visiting Boyne for a long weekend and stopped in on a Saturday night. We sat on the patio since we had our dogs with us. The beer and drinks were good (strongly recommend the Stiggs Manhattan!). We absolutely loved the live music outside. We had the brussel sprouts as an appetizer which were really good and both had a burger which was surprisingly really good! The only reason I'm giving four stars is when I requested a table outside, I explained we had two dogs with us (mind you they were little) and the hostess saw our dogs then seated us in a high traffic area. Servers were constantly passing through a small space by our table and even when our dogs were laying down, they had to maneuver around them because the table was against a wall with little space for them to exist safely out of the way. Some of the workers were nice about this, some not. There were plenty of empty tables we could have been sat at where this wasn't a problem or concern. First. Beer: We really enjoyed the Beaver Bait 8.1% alc I wrote this so we can remember the next time we come here: it won't be another trial and error drinking game. The flights were fun to try. Second. Food: The Brisket Melt was really unique. The house smoked brisket was truly something I have never had before. Just salty enough. Just spicy enough. Really, perfectly prepared. On grilled rye with white cheddar, caramelized onions and horseradish sauce. Yum! The BBQ pulled pork was also amazing. The "famous cherry/porter sauce" was just right for not overpowering the taste of the pork. Served on a brioche with coleslaw. Again, excellent. The only downside was confusion around the live music. After a long day on a boat, my friends and I really needed a nice, satisfying dinner. Thankfully Stiggs was around the corner. This restaurant is known for BBQ and gives off a strong "Slow's" vibe. The decor/presentation is quite similar to that restaurant and the aroma was just as inviting. We made it a point to order a bunch of food and share it so we could get the full experience. Fun little pub running downtown Boyne city the owner simplified the menu and what he does he does well craft beers are abundant from all over the state of Michigan and even brewed right here in Boyne city all of them are good. It's hard to find good beer and good food in the same place. Stiggs has it! My husband and I both got beer flights and all the beers were really good. I had the smokehouse burger which was killer amazing and my husband had the rib platter. I tried everything on his plate and it was all super good. Best potato salad I think I've ever had. My son had the original Stiggs burger and he said it was the best burger he's ever had. Also, our food came out super quickly, which we really appreciated. In town with the girls for a book club retreat. We stopped in for dinner and had an awesome meal at an exclusive spot located in the basement of Stiggs Brewery. We were the only guests down there and we got a great view of the beer making process, their surplus of supplies and ingredients and a few fun staff members. Our waiter, Dan, was super fun and willing to go out of his way to answer questions and accommodate our group (even if we didn't like his favorite beer). Many restaurants deserve a good even a great rating, but how do you distinguish the truly great ones? I'm conflicted in writing a review for Stiggs Brewing, because I don't want it to become so popular that I can ever find a table when I go there. I'm 60 Jan have had thousands of hamburgers across the US and even in Germany and the UK, but I can honestly say the Stiggs smokehouse burger with brisket is in my top three if not #1. The chili was good, fries are tasty.. but also a 3 dollar up charge. Cool concept, but the execution needs work. When you sit at a table where the cooks and prep food walks by from the Down stairs. Watching men bring up containers of slaw mix with the sour cream container and other ingredients containers sitting in the jug.. on top of the cabbage mix. What a cool new spot that has come to Boyne City. This establishment is in a really cool old train administration building. You've got a table in an old vault, walls and corners to snoop around and it's has a really friend vibe. Staff is very friendly and they have a lot of different events going on for you to enjoy your time. I'm not a big grill cheese kinda guy, but this grilled cheese, I mean how could you not want it; just read the description: "Stonehouse 7 Grain Bread, Pepper Jack, American, and Provolone with Bacon Jam, Diced Pickled Jalepeno, and a Cup of Tomato Bisque" and the thing is huge. Fries are great and their home brewed Hefe I had was top notch You want to try the MI craft beer scene, this is great place to come to get a good idea of what MI has going on on that front. A friend of mine and I were staying in Boyne Falls for a ski weekend and headed over to Stiggs for dinner on our first night. We love trying new beers (and food, obviously) and were so excited to find this brewery! Stiggs has a great variety of beers on tap, including a big selection of their own offerings and lots of choices from other Michigan breweries (Bell's, Short's, Vivant, etc). We both liked the beers that we chose, and our waitress was happy to let us sample a couple first. The food menu also had a lot to offer. I settled on the Smoked Tomato Ragout, because I love a good vegetarian option - it was so good! Full of tomato flavor and the beans (I think they're beans?) were so good and hearty. My friend went with the Stiggs Cobb salad and she enjoyed her meal as well. I totally want to come back and try the Mac and cheese next time, though... The place also has very cool decor - bottle caps on the tables and along the bar. Also looks like they have a mug club, which would be cool for someone who lives in the area or is around Boyne fairly regularly. Overall, super glad we found this place!
