Take this review as a 3.5. The food was really tasty, flavorful, and the presentation was gorgeous. However, it wasn't really warm and was probably because it took over an hour after we ordered to get us our meals. I get really hangry so this was frustrating and bummed me out. It was super packed in the restaurant and as a business owner, I do understand how it can get. Because of that, I would try this place again.

Some of the review mentioned tapas and live music which we found neither. But the food was delicious! We were looking for something light so we ordered a half Michigan salad, Brussels sprouts, a wedge salad and some bread. Nothing amazing on its own but all dishes were made with quality ingredients and the dressings were house made and delicious! As for the ambiance, it was small, a little loud but cozy. The name of the restaurant and its decor doesn't seem to match the food so don't pass it by!

Stopped in for a quick dinner. It's fairly small inside. They have three meals with whitefish available. I got the whitefish tacos and enjoyed them. Everything was fresh. My partner got a huge sausage sandwich. Spicy sausage sub I think. It does seem to be a spot for martinis, there are 12 on their menu, along with a lot of other cocktails.

the food is really good, a bit on the salty side. we also were unaware fries on the side was extra 3 dollars. the waitress we had was nice, but felt like was trying to offer us options without letting us know extra costs. overall, would not be going again... too expensive.

Tito's martini and the Mobster (fresh Basil from the garden).

I'm a local and this is one of my favorite places. Awesome Martinis are 2$ off on Tuesdays and you can watch them pick fresh herbs and ingredients from the garden outside to be muddled in your favorite libations. Also, it doesn't matter what you order, the food is always on point. There is always a little something about every dish they offer. This post is making me hungry just thinking about the food they put out.

French onion soup was good. Not too salty

Great drinks & food! There was also live music, which usually not my thing, but it was enjoyable. The restaurant is small though.

Tonite we only had appetizers but they were both very good. We had the Baked Brie, a puff pastry filled with creamy Brie and a jam dressing. It included a very tasty fruit and nut cracker, sliced apples and Carmel corn nuggets. Great combination of sweet and savory! We also had the Shrimp Cocktail. You get 8 very nice size shrimp, which were nicely chilled (nothing worse than warm shrimp) and cocktail sauce. The shrimp were fresh and meaty, good flavor. The staff is great. Riley did a great job taking care of us. We were also greeted by the owner John, who was visiting and talking with every table of guests. This IMO is a sign of a establishment that wants to insure their patrons are happy and enjoying their experience. We would definitely recommend giving them a try when in Cheboygan or the area.

I would rate this place right up there with places in Grand Rapids I go to for drinks. The MDRD at the top of Amway or the high end bar at the Marriott along with a couple other cocktail lounges I frequent. Yet the prices here are 20-30 % cheaper. For a small town this place is incredible. The main guy I always see behind the counter is simply fantastic at his job. Always well dressed. The other workers are also great. I have been here several times on my way to my parents once or twice a month. I'm selective at using my time to leave great reviews. But I really want this place to stick around. So here we are. Even when it's busy, you don't have the same type of loud drunks you will find at the regular bars in the area. It's loud but balanced. And that's because I'm writing this on the Saturday this town is celebrating St Patrick's Day. And it's the most packed I have ever seen it. Yet still nice and jubilant.

When we arrived, there were a couple of people inside but we chose outside (shaded) seating since it was such a nice day. The deck, which is partially covered, overlooks the Cheboygan River. The menu included a nice selection of appetizers and ala carts/side items, burgers, salads, baskets, desserts, pastas, etc were on the dinner entree side and available after 4pm. Too bad...the mushroom pasta sounded delightful!! My husband and I both chose fish & skinny fries. What are "skinny fries"? They are the perfect size and crispness!! They are what fries were made to be!! I ate every single delicious one!! The fish was lightly beer battered Alaskan cod and it was just what my stomach needed to tame the serious case of hangries!! I'm not sure if the best part was the first bite or the wonderful smell as it was being brought to our table! He even wished my mom a happy Mother's Day before taking our order, which was a nice touch. We started with the Street Corn Nachos as an appetizer, then ordered a pulled pork sandwich and a grilled portobello mushroom sandwich, both with fries on the side (an additional $4 each). This was an excellent place to bring my mom since she's vegetarian, and the restaurant had plenty of vegetarian-friendly options. The food was excellent, especially the nachos -- the queso was amazing. The restaurant also gives you a lot of customization options, like swapping chips for fries for an extra $4 or adding protein to the nachos for an additional charge. That said, while the nachos were really good, they were still $18 without any protein, which honestly felt overpriced for chips, cheese, and vegetables. We came during lunch service, and overall the food, service, and view made for a great experience. However, it is definitely on the expensive side. Most entrees seemed to range from around $20-30. Still, if you're willing to spend a little more for quality food, generous portions, and a great atmosphere, it's definitely worth visiting.

I don't think the restaurant is beyond saving by any means, but I do think there are some issues that need attention. Looking back, I wish I had paid closer attention to some of the lower-rated Google reviews because my experience ended up being very similar. Upon arrival, figuring out how to enter the restaurant was a little confusing. Once inside, I decided to take the stairs instead of the elevator. Unfortunately, every step up was covered with what felt like an excessive amount of sand. The windowsills along the staircase were filled with cobwebs and what appeared to be piles of dead mosquitoes. Now, I understand that restaurants near the beach have to deal with sand, insects, and other environmental challenges. That comes with the territory. But this felt beyond that. It felt neglected. Once upstairs, the staff was friendly enough. I don't have any major complaints about the service. It wasn't overwhelming. It wasn't underwhelming. It was just... whelming. One thing I did genuinely appreciate was seeing a restaurant filled with people of color, both among the staff and guests. In many of the places I've visited in the area, that hasn't always been the case, so it was refreshing and welcoming. Before being seated, I asked to use the restroom. Unfortunately, the cleanliness issues continued there as well. What made this frustrating is that the restaurant itself wasn't dirty. The tables were spotless. The bar area looked great. It was the neglected areas that stood out. The stairs, the windowsills, the corners, and the restroom all felt like they needed a little extra attention. Honestly, I feel like one dedicated deep-cleaning day could dramatically improve the overall experience. These things make ir break an experience with a customer. Now, onto the food. I ordered the lobster poutine, and honestly, it was really good. I'd absolutely order it again. I'd give it a solid 7 out of 10. I also ordered a burger. It was beautiful when it arrived, but there were a few details that took away from the experience. The lettuce was a little spotty, there was visible dirt on the tomato, and the house-made chips were slightly burnt. Everything was edible, but those small details matter. There was also an uncomfortable interaction with another guest seated near me. I'm intentionally not making this review about that situation because it wasn't the restaurant's fault. However, it did add to an experience that already wasn't heading in a positive direction. Overall, I think this restaurant has tremendous potential. The location is fantastic, and there are moments where you can see what they're trying to create. Unfortunately, I don't plan to return. That said, I encourage others to experience it for themselves. Plenty of people seem to like this place, and you may have a completely different experience than I did. I sincerely wish the staff well because they were kind throughout my visit. I just think the restaurant has some opportunities to improve, and I hope they take advantage of them.
