    Famous Tater Bowl
    Gemma H.

We must've arrived on Memorial Day before anyone on the island really got going, so there was no wait and the service was really fast. It got busier as we ate, but our service remained quick. My boyfriend and I ordered the breakfast sandwich with house potatoes and the "famous" tater bowl. Both were good, but really nothing special or particularly memorable. The tater bowl was rich but well seasoned and the bread on the sandwich was really good and tasted fresh. Wouldn't be our first choice to revisit on the island, but overall a decent breakfast when you want to get your day started.

Loaded onion fries adjusted for the boys dietary issues. They insisted we give a great review. The beers in the pic didn't last too long.

Crowded & busy day. Everyone was friendly and efficient. All wait times were very reasonable. We have 2 special dietary boys (PKU) and they adjusted like rock stars. The boys hounded me to make sure I have a good review so all thumbs up from the 15 & 14 yr olds. The owner came by and was terrific. Mood of the place is recently updated friendly, industrial. Very cool. Small but not cramped. I'm a beer snob from Rochester Hills, the beers were excellent. My wife & I were pleasantly surprised. Food was solid. Choose this place!

This place is so cute inside and the food was delicious! I ordered the famous tater bowl and it didn't disappoint! Although it's very heavy (tots, gravy, biscuits, eggs, etc) it filled me up for a good bike ride around the island. They followed all the Covid precautions and I felt safe eating there. The place is clean and cute and high quality service and food! Highly recommend and great for breakfast when we got there on the 9:30 ferry ride :) ENJOY!

It's my birthday!! We decided to take a quick trip to Macinac Island since I have never been! Yes. I know, it's crazy. I have lived in Michigan my entire life and have yet to see so much of this beautiful state. This will not stand! So we hopped in the car and drove on up! What a great place. I wish he had longer to explore! This was the first spot we came across when we got off the boat. Now there one thing to know about Macinaw this time of year.... Midge swarms!!! Omg it was awful! The flying insects do not bite but they get all over you!! We had to keep sunglasses on and our masks because they would get in your eyes and mouth. They were THAT bad. I am guessing this is like our fish fly season in south eastern Michigan. Anyway, we were so stressed out that we stopped at the first place we saw and ordered a beer. It was actually a perfect choice. This was more of a dive bar, but the locals seemed to enjoy it and the bartender was very helpful. She suggested many places to try, and where we should eat dinner. This is a sister bar to the brewery on the mainland. The beer was cold and the bartender was warm and friendly. We took her advice, made a list, and off we went.

    Tomato soup!

Not to much open so we decided to try this pub. We ordered grill cheese with tomato soup. It was a sandwich with three thin slices of cheese there were not melted on white toasted bread. The tomato should was supposed to have fete and basil. It just had chunks of canned tomatoes. Go the Sea biscuit way better.

What a cute place! Stopped in on a whim for some breakfast. Eggs done just as requested, all food was delicious and well prepared! Son had the burrito and said it tasted like home. Even ate our toast! (And who really eats the toast!) Staff super friendly and attentive! Will have to try it for a lunch or supper sometime. Best wishes on your new place! Got our vote!

The service was outstanding. Our waitress was friendly and funny, kept our drinks filled, and took great care of us. I had the maple-glazed salmon with dill rice. Both were delicous. The salmon had a little spicy kick, but nothing overwhelming for folks who cant take heat. My friend really enjoyed her sea bass.

During the current Covid environment, we have to be understanding of the difficulties food establishments are having . That, in conjunction with the island costs were taken into consideration but this meal was just not acceptable. I asked the waitress nicely about the hush puppies, which were obviously burnt, hoping she we notice the fish was also burnt. She said sometimes they look like that, "did you try them"? Yes, as a matter of fact I did and they are burnt. She brought me some fresh ones; freshly burnt! Hard to believe they left the kitchen never mind making it to our table. For $18.00, no one should have to eat burnt fish that wasn't even on par with a McDonalds Filet-o-Fish. 3 stars? Well my fiancée got the fish tacos and she said they were good.

Had a nice visit here. I ordered the sea bass (loved it) and my wife had the beef tips. Both very good. A carriage ride driver recommended it ... she wasn't wrong.

Ordered wings and an order of chips (fries). Both were excellent! Bartender offered us more blue cheese dressing without us asking. Small thing, but nice touch; her service was excellent. It's very "pubbish" and comfortable. Great vibe. If you go to the island, I highly recommend this place. The prices were actually less than I thought they would be...a big order of fries was five bucks. Beer on tap was eight bucks. After, go to Kilwins for a cone and sit on a hotel porch.

So we went down to the pub and luckily we were able to get a table right away. I should note, we also chose this pub because it had Gluten Free options and we had someone with us who could only eat Gluten Free. We were provided water fairly quickly, but to order took a little bit, about 20 minutes. I would say there were only two waitstaff working on a busy afternoon. The pub is kind of small, with seating at the bar, along the sides and then two high top tables in the middle. Once we ordered our food didn't take too long to get. I ordered a Reuben, and got the vinegar coleslaw. Rueben was good, I wouldn't say great for being an Irish Pub. The coleslaw was actually cream based so based on the menu saying vinegar I was a bit surprised. Two others ordered hamburgers which they said were just ok. All in all, the dining experience was alright, nothing spectacular but because we got seated quickly and were hungry it was good for us.

The patty was juicy, the bun was soft and fluffy, and somehow she still managed to have room for dessert. Kids are magical like that. My husband and I both ordered the pan-fried whitefish because, come on... you're on Mackinac Island. You have to. The fish was fresh, flaky, and perfectly cooked with a light, crispy crust that let the flavor of the whitefish shine. Exactly what we were hoping for. The restaurant has a fun, laid-back atmosphere that feels like the perfect place to recharge before heading back out to explore the island. The service was friendly, the food came out quickly, and everything tasted fresh. If you're visiting Mackinac, don't overthink it. Order the whitefish, steal a fry from whoever you're eating with (it's vacation, calories are on island time), and enjoy a great meal.

All in all we really enjoyed our meal here; it was the perfect casual stop for us on our trip.

I was worried there would be a long wait, as it's a small spot, but Nate and I could grab a seat at the bar right away for a late lunch. The bartender was super friendly and we enjoyed chatting with her. I got a featured sangria with pear vodka which was delicious and refreshing. Their taps were out of order, but they have plenty of canned and bottled options. The fish and chips came with two large filets and plenty of fries. I even liked the coleslaw, which I normally don't really love. The batter was a bit thick for my taste but the fish was flaky and not dry. Nate got the waldorf salad, which was huge and had tons of toppings and a nice portion of grilled chicken. The space is quite small so I don't think this place would be great if you have a stroller or anyone in a wheelchair. I'm glad we checked it out and would come back - some of the other dishes I saw coming out of the kitchen looked great, like the fried mac and cheese and the Reuben!
