Solid five out of five. It's not fancy, it's crowded, and sitting at the bar is definitely an option. Tuesdays is "all you can eat wings" And it did not disappoint. I was not in the mood for a food challenge, I ordered a patty melt. It was juicy, pressed with grilled onions, cheese, and marbled rye. The fries were just OK. The basket comes with a container of coleslaw too. The wings come out hot. Your choice of breaded or naked, And your choice of a variety of sauces. Comes with fries, hush puppies, and coleslaw. We could've probably done without the hush puppies, but it was a nice taste. If it wasn't so darn hot the day we went, we would've sat outside. The patio overlooks the lake, and you can watch the ducks. It's a small quaint bar with food that doesn't disappoint. read more

Another trip up to the UP! Absolutely love coming to Cattails. Got the yellow perch, again, just as good as it is every time! My wife got the Cajun steak bites and they were delicious. We asked the very friendly waitress if we could buy the Cajun seasoning but unfortunately it's homemade and a secret so they won't sell it, which is another reason this place is so good! Can't wait to come back this summer! read more

Unfortunately we didn't have the service and experience we hoped for at Cattails Cove. When we first walked up to the entrance, there was no sign that said seat yourself or please wait to be seated. Two waitresses saw us but didn't greet us or instruct us on what to do. I then asked one of them if we were supposed to seat ourselves or wait to be seated. When I asked her, she seemed bothered by us asking or even being there, as evidenced by her facial expressions and the shaking of her head. We were then told to seat ourselves. The best thing a restaurant can do is have a sign that tells guests what to do when they arrive. They should add that to help with the confusion. The whitefish was good but the fresh cut fries were not. I was very excited to read they had fresh cut fries, but they were not cooked throughly. They were soggy and extremely greasy as pictured. The service was a bit slow. We waited 10-15 minutes before a server came to our table. We had no menus or drinks during that time Although it wasn't the best food or the best service, the view and outdoor seating was spectacular. There were ducks that were begging for your food and would eat it right out of your hand, but it didn't bother us! Overall the experience could've been much better. read more

Visiting on a cold, cloudy, rainy weekday, we chose to sit outside under the open-air patio overlooking the water as nobody in the restaurant was wearing masks. Good choice. The outdoor seating view is gorgeous. We enjoyed watching a white egret and other water birds. Compared to the dimly lit, small dining area indoors, this choice is an obvious one. My husband and I ordered the fish-n-chips white fish platter with fries and coleslaw. The fish was tasty and the coleslaw was crisp and flavorful. However, the fries were horrible. Soggy. Oily and a dark brown color. Must have been fried in old oil. Really detracted from the meal. Our server was kind, attentive and efficient. Would give her 4+ stars. We were glad this tiny restaurant was open on a Monday as options are limited in Cedarville. Will try them again in another visit, perhaps after the pandemic as this UP establishment is not committed to safety. read more

What an exceptional find! The curb appeal is so-so and the indoors quite dark but the outdoor patio area is beautiful! Your voice of wicker chairs under a shaded awning, tables in the sun, or stumps around an area for a bonfire right next to the lake. Ducks and geese floating by surrounded by lovely reeds and flowers. Ordered the fried pickles which were delicious and crispy, in a crunchy bread and dill covering with a delicious fill dipping sauce on the side. Also got the coco loco coconut covered fried shrimp which was served with a yummy citrus marmalade sauce. Others we were with got a Greek salad and a fried fish sandwich which was big enough for leftovers but so good it was finished on the spot! A friend and I headed to Cedarville to stay at a friends lake house, right down the block from Cattails Cove. I'm serious when I tell y'all that we both stood there staring at the door wondering who was going to pull it first as we listened to the music flowing through air. We both knew walking in there to the land of the locals was going to warrant a lot of stares. It wasn't tourist season and yet here we were standing. A big deep breath in and we opened that door, walked right in and sat right now. We both ordered the prosciutto sandwich with fries. Delicious. The fries were basic, but the sandwich was pretty darn amazing. She had beer while I started on my double Jameson's on the rocks. The drinks flowed freely and I have to tell you, were extremely affordable. I was actually shocked to see how cheap the drinks were compared to other places I had been. I'll be heading up again later this summer and hope to give something else on the menu a try. read more

This was our first trip to Cedarville, MI and the last place we stopped for breakfast before heading out to kayak the surrounding islands and then home. We decided to eat outside on the covered deck as the morning air was calm and pleasant (and there wasn't much room inside the small dining room except for sitting at the bar...not happening for breakfast!). The view was good with many water birds in the cove to watch while sipping never-ending coffee. The waitress was somewhat off-standing at first, but it appeared as though she was the only waitress on duty at the time (her co-worker showed up later in the meal). She quickly afterward warmed up to our presence. The food was delicious and served hot. I could have done without watching the dead insect carcasses caught in spider webs around the deck waving in the slight breeze while eating, but with our eyes focused more on the boats and birds in the cove they were easy to ignore. Anyway, I'd recommend the place for the outside dining experience alone. The good food was a bonus! read more

The "town" has limited food choices but this place used to be pretty great (years ago) now every time I go I end up asking myself why did I go there again. The food is adequate at best and the staff seems irritated you are there. They have a beautiful deck with outdoor seating overlooking the water it's a shame they don't make this place great. read more

This is my favorite place to eat and drink in the islands. The drinks are poured generously and crafted by seasoned bartenders. The food is surprisingly good. Not good for a dive bar, but really good comfort food you won't find in the city. I look forward to the steak bites the minute we cross the Mackinac bridge! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. If you enjoy a cold brew whike you take in the summer air you'll love their spacious outdoor space. The views of the lake and wild life are a welcomed reminder that you're there to sit back and enjoy being on island time. If you've never had Michigan whitefish this is the place to go. read more

Feel quite the opposite of the last review my vista to this place have been outstanding. The greeter,bartender, server,all the same lady made our trip to Cattails worth coming back many more times. Loved the steak bites read more
