Stopped in while exploring the Island. LOVED the ceiling! I opted for the fish and chips which comes with a side of Cole slaw (vinegar based). I traveled to Scotland and London, and this fish and chips beat out what I had while there. I am not a huge fan of steak fries, but these lived up to my expectations and had enough crisp on some to make up for the softness I associate with this type of fry. The Cole slaw was enough to be a meal in itself. But the fish, were the star of my plate and the tartar sauce...I need this recipe or a bottle of the sauce. My travel mate opted for the Ruben sandwich. I tasted the corned beef, had a great flavor to it. There were no complaints from our table. She also got a coffee to go, asked for cream...came out with the cutest little cream pitcher. The cup is also biodegradable, which is great since it would end up in a recycle bin along the way. Stopped in here after the 8 mile bicycle ride. The young lady recommended it when we turned the bikes in. Scored two seats at the bar. The Doud's Ale was excellent. Ordered wings and an order of chips (fries). Both were excellent! Bartender offered us more blue cheese dressing without us asking. Small thing, but nice touch; her service was excellent. We went to the island for a quick trip with family. It was almost 2 pm and we were hungry. Initially, I put in for a table at the Pink Pony but that wait was ridiculous, almost 2 hours for a table for 6. So we went down to the pub and luckily we were able to get a table right away. I should note, we also chose this pub because it had Gluten Free options and we had someone with us who could only eat Gluten Free. We were provided water fairly quickly, but to order took a little bit, about 20 minutes. I would say there were only two waitstaff working on a busy afternoon. My family and I grabbed dinner tonight at Doud's and had a really great meal! We loved the decor although the people sitting at the bar were pretty loud. Our server was awesome and so sweet! She was always checking on us and even gave us to-go cups when we left! All of our meals were delicious! I got the fish sandwich with chips and Bleu cheese cole slaw which was amazing! The kids got the chicken fingers with fries and the other got the Doud's House Burger and they both gave their meals a 9/10. Fun Bar, good food. Service is a little slow but it's by the ferry and was slammed. Grandson had seafood chowder and chicken wings, chowder was awesome, wings nothing special. Brynn was our server and while bubbly and smiling, she was evidently too busy as it took 10 minutes with an almost empty set of tables to get water. Then it was another 10 minutes to get our order. Another ten minutes before my drink came. Onion soup was basically broth with some melted cheese, one small piece of bread, and around a dozen small slivers of onions. I kid you not, the entire bowl was more than 80% broth. Bangers and mash was good, as were the chicken tenders and fries. Hendrick's and tonic is always hard to mess up but served with a lemon wedge rather than lime? It was tasty nonetheless. Overall, overpriced for the speed of service and quality of food, even by Island standards. I brought the soup up to the waitress and she was short and stated, "I'm sorry it didn't meet your expectations but that it is a broth and that's the way it comes."
