First time being on the island for multiple days. We ate at Broken Spoke yesterday and decided to come back again today. My wife and I agreed, the best food we ate on the island. I wish you could give two reviews sometimes, because the drinks and service were incredible but the food was expensive and mediocre. The BBQ plate was very disappointing, and the chili that I was so excited to try was pretty standard. The slaw was delicious and tasted refreshing. The bartender was very kind and patient when trying lots of different samples, ended up getting two REALLY good beers. Stopped in for breakfast because they had a fruit option on the menu. I was hoping to get that and the hashbrowns. Being vegan and having an egg allergy there are basically no breakfast options on this entire island except for Starbucks. Sadly they were out of the fruit...So. I had two super greasy hashbrown patties that were basically what you'd get at McDonald's and then I walked to the market and bought my own fruit. Would it kill people to have like a tofu scramble? Ate dinner here tonite with my hubby for our anniversary. He ordered the burger topped with brisket & pulled pork. I ordered an appetizer of steak bites and substituted the garlic bread for French fries! Both portions were HUGE and DELICIOUS. Also, menu prices were very reasonable for the amount of food that was given! Did I mention our waitress was amazing, very knowledgeable about food options, and very attentive! A+ dining for sure! We were turned away by pink pony due to being full and our experience the prior morning at the pancake house was less than memorable so we were heading back to the ferry and thinking "I wonder if Starbucks has their sousvide" when "breakfast until 10:30" caught my eye. Well...can I say we were thrilled with our experience. The menu isn't big but the food was great, so was the Bloody Mary and mimosa. I want to thank them for serving us honey that wasn't in a plastic bear and bread that was more artesian than wonder bread!! And Brianna was awesome! So we were on a school trip, had a group of 8 and it was not that busy at all. Only about 1/2 of the tables were full. The menu looks good. Overpriced for some of the entrees but you kind of expect that on the island. Our group ordered burgers mainly and those looked pretty good. We also got the salmon. It was OK but so full of bones and such a very small portion. I got the pot pie. Ok this was so disappointing. It was chicken noodle soup with some biscuits cut in half, laid on top. It was $17 for that. The waitress was OK but did goof up the bills and we had to send three things back. Over all I would never go back...too many other yummy places on the island. read more

One of the worst lunches I have ever had. The soup was so salty it was inedible. When mentioning this to our waitress, she replied "yeah, we get that a lot". The corn beef was dry and the sandwich itself was left on the plate. Update: The manager came out later. He was courteous and listened to us. He said if we hadn't already paid the bill before he found out then he would have refunded some of the meal. It's unfortunate because we literally ate two to three bites of the pot pie total. I considered bumping up the rating because the manager was really spending time listening to us but then I came back to our hotel and found out that other patrons did not like their pot pie either. One person called it disgusting. As such, I am leaving it here as a warning to others to be careful what you order. Stick to sandwiches and bar food. My burger was pretty good. The barbecue pork sandwich was really good. The Asian salad was just not good. The dried noodles were stale. The wait staff seemed a little short tempered, but they do get loads of people in and out throughout the day. I wish they had more dipping sauces for the onion rings. My first experience at this restaurant was the first year they were open under new ownership, and at that point things were a little rocky, and the food didn't meet my expectations. I'm happy to say that in the years since, they've certainly gotten things under control and this is one of my favorite places on the island to go to now. The steak and cheddar soup, while lacking any noticeable pieces of steak, was absolutely delicious, and the fish & chips were tasty. The food was good, but service was slow and not very thoughtful. Waters never got refilled. Other drinks were never even brought to the table. Toward the end of our meal the waitress told us she was getting too busy and wouldn't be able to stop back at our table. I have been to this restaurant this labor day weekend (2013-09-02). When we got the restaurant it was around 5:40 pm and we ordered some common dishes including steak, fried chicken, etc. We waited and waited and the food didn't came until nearly 50 minutes later. And the tastes were just as normal, some dishes like the wild wings were terrible. The server came only once during the entire dinning process. In the end, each of us were charged about 25-30 bucks plus 18% auto-billed tips. Overall, the service and the food of this restaurant was far below average and the food are definitely over charged. My suggestion is to AVOID this restaurant don't try to risk your dinning opportunities on this restaurant if you are a tourist. read more

Great food, great service. Staff was friendly and they took my son's dairy and egg allergy seriously. He had several options, but he decided on the found Asian chicken salad with grilled chicken (with fries, of course). It was a great salad suitable for vegans sans chicken. Lots of peanuts, edamame, crispy noodles, with a fantastic Asian sesame ginger dressing. I highly recommend for people with dairy/egg allergies and vegans. My wife and I stopped in on a Wednesday evening, last week, around 6:30 before taking a ferry back to the mainland. We checked out the menu outside and went in. The business wasn't particularly busy. We were directed to seat ourselves. We choose to sit up by the front window. An employee came to our table and cleaned it off. We were then ignored for nearly 15 minutes, not even coming to get a drink order. We just got up and walked out without anyone saying anything. There were 7 in our group so we tried several dishes. Great selection of beers on draft. The whitefish dip (it's really more of a cold spread) was great. They serve it with flatbread crackers. We had the whitefish soup/chowder and the steak/cheese/beer soup. Both were delicious! The cheese based soup was very rich and flavorful. I could have made that a meal. Both soup bowls were licked clean. We had the fish and chips, cheese burger, blue cheese burger, broiled whitefish dinner and the brisket sandwich. The whitefish was fresh and cooked perfectly! So delicious. Hamburgers were also delicious and juicy. Fried fish was very lightly battered and not greasy at all. The onion rings were crispy just the way I like them. I didn't give it 5 stars because the brisket was pretty bad. It was very dry and had an almost musty taste. I asked for the BBQ sauce on the side. It tasted like typical sauce you get at the grocery store. It was stone cold and combined with the warm sandwich it just didn't work. The French fries were very bland and not very crispy. I thought they were a waste of calories so I didn't eat them. Overall we loved almost everything. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive.
