Walking in, the atmosphere has great potential and the server was A+ and so sweet to us…read more It's a nice quiet intimate place for a couple to come in on a date, maybe have a drink and talk. I believe one of the owners, or a manager was checking on guests randomly, which is always a nice thing to see however... The food is EXPENSIVE. 1/3 pound burger for $18?? Seriously? That's barely over the size of a McDonalds hamburger. A few items for $40ish and I couldn't justify spending it, if I was still going to be hungry. We kept looking around at what others were eating, and nothing appeared to be much food in front of others at all. Most of the items shown on their menu through Google, are not on their limited menu either. We were looking forward to trying it for someplace different, but it wasn't worth the money to us. We were hungry, and realized this wasn't the place to go if you were, so we nicely paid for our drinks, tipped our sweet server and quietly left. We ended up going next door to Mulligans. Again -it has a great atmosphere, the service seems to be excellent, and is a very nice place, but not for dinner unfortunately.

We sat on folding chairs at the table. Our waitress carried our drinks by the rim of the glass. We asked for a straw so our mouth wasn't where the drinks were carried and we were brought unwrapped straws that were too short for the glass and carried in the waitresses hand. Out of the taco Tuesday special by 7:00. They were out of iced tea as well. There's also a very odd long mirror in the women's bathroom giving you a unique view of yourself while using the restroom. We did not have the 4.7 star experience that we expected from other reviews. I will say the flat iron steak and the shrimp pasta was good. Our other items were just okay.

It's not pretentious, as you are greeted by the a member of their friendly staff as you enter. There are multiple facets to this venue, so it makes your visit exciting. I wont share any "spoiler's" so when you visit you can experience all the niceties personally. Food is fresh and menu changes occur seasonally. Tonite we only had appetizers but they were both very good. We had the Baked Brie, a puff pastry filled with creamy Brie and a jam dressing. It included a very tasty fruit and nut cracker, sliced apples and Carmel corn nuggets. Great combination of sweet and savory! We also had the Shrimp Cocktail. You get 8 very nice size shrimp, which were nicely chilled (nothing worse than warm shrimp) and cocktail sauce. The shrimp were fresh and meaty, good flavor. The staff is great. Riley did a great job taking care of us. We were also greeted by the owner John, who was visiting and talking with every table of guests. This IMO is a sign of a establishment that wants to insure their patrons are happy and enjoying their experience. We would definitely recommend giving them a try when in Cheboygan or the area.

When we arrived, there were a couple of people inside but we chose outside (shaded) seating since it was such a nice day. The deck, which is partially covered, overlooks the Cheboygan River. Apparently there is an award winning chef creating the delectable entrees. The menu included a nice selection of appetizers and ala carts/side items, burgers, salads, baskets, desserts, pastas, etc were on the dinner entree side and available after 4pm. Too bad...the mushroom pasta sounded delightful!! My husband and I both chose fish & skinny fries. What are "skinny fries"? They are the perfect size and crispness!! They are what fries were made to be!! I ate every single delicious one!! The fish was lightly beer battered Alaskan cod and it was just what my stomach needed to tame the serious case of hangries!! I'm not sure if the best part was the first bite or the wonderful smell as it was being brought to our table! (I'm saying this because almost all my life I've lived in KS, the allergy capital of the US, and have never been able to smell things like food until we moved to MI)!! Hubby and I agreed, we will be back for a date night dinner even though this is a 30 min drive for us! Also it's a dress up or casual dress place. We really enjoyed it!

He even wished my mom a happy Mother's Day before taking our order, which was a nice touch. We started with the Street Corn Nachos as an appetizer, then ordered a pulled pork sandwich and a grilled portobello mushroom sandwich, both with fries on the side (an additional $4 each). This was an excellent place to bring my mom since she's vegetarian, and the restaurant had plenty of vegetarian-friendly options. The food was excellent, especially the nachos -- the queso was amazing. The restaurant also gives you a lot of customization options, like swapping chips for fries for an extra $4 or adding protein to the nachos for an additional charge. That said, while the nachos were really good, they were still $18 without any protein, which honestly felt overpriced for chips, cheese, and vegetables. We came during lunch service, and overall the food, service, and view made for a great experience. However, it is definitely on the expensive side. Most entrees seemed to range from around $20-30. Still, if you're willing to spend a little more for quality food, generous portions, and a great atmosphere, it's definitely worth visiting.

You all know I hate leaving poor reviews, but unfortunately, this is going to be one of them…read more Honestly, this feels more like a 2.5-star experience than a 3-star one. I don't think the restaurant is beyond saving by any means, but I do think there are some issues that need attention. Looking back, I wish I had paid closer attention to some of the lower-rated Google reviews because my experience ended up being very similar. Upon arrival, figuring out how to enter the restaurant was a little confusing. Once inside, I decided to take the stairs instead of the elevator. Unfortunately, every step up was covered with what felt like an excessive amount of sand. The windowsills along the staircase were filled with cobwebs and what appeared to be piles of dead mosquitoes. Now, I understand that restaurants near the beach have to deal with sand, insects, and other environmental challenges. That comes with the territory. But this felt beyond that. It felt neglected. Once upstairs, the staff was friendly enough. I don't have any major complaints about the service. It wasn't overwhelming. It wasn't underwhelming. It was just... whelming. One thing I did genuinely appreciate was seeing a restaurant filled with people of color, both among the staff and guests. In many of the places I've visited in the area, that hasn't always been the case, so it was refreshing and welcoming. Before being seated, I asked to use the restroom. Unfortunately, the cleanliness issues continued there as well. What made this frustrating is that the restaurant itself wasn't dirty. The tables were spotless. The bar area looked great. It was the neglected areas that stood out. The stairs, the windowsills, the corners, and the restroom all felt like they needed a little extra attention. Honestly, I feel like one dedicated deep-cleaning day could dramatically improve the overall experience. These things make ir break an experience with a customer. Now, onto the food. I ordered the lobster poutine, and honestly, it was really good. I'd absolutely order it again. I'd give it a solid 7 out of 10. I also ordered a burger. It was beautiful when it arrived, but there were a few details that took away from the experience. The lettuce was a little spotty, there was visible dirt on the tomato, and the house-made chips were slightly burnt. Everything was edible, but those small details matter. There was also an uncomfortable interaction with another guest seated near me. I'm intentionally not making this review about that situation because it wasn't the restaurant's fault. However, it did add to an experience that already wasn't heading in a positive direction. Overall, I think this restaurant has tremendous potential. The location is fantastic, and there are moments where you can see what they're trying to create. Unfortunately, I don't plan to return. That said, I encourage others to experience it for themselves. Plenty of people seem to like this place, and you may have a completely different experience than I did. I sincerely wish the staff well because they were kind throughout my visit. I just think the restaurant has some opportunities to improve, and I hope they take advantage of them.
