Brewery #267 Stormcloud is pretty much a perfect brewery for my tastes. I like good bar food, great beer and a cool place to enjoy them. Stormcloud does that in spades. The food menu is full of things like pizzas (that looked good), sandwiches, salads and apps. I got a chicken salad with apples, dried cherries, dried cranberries, red onions and a lemon vinaigrette. It was delicious and refreshing. Pops got the Fowl Weather which was a grilled chicken sandwich with avocado, bacon, tomatoes and mozzarella cheese on Naan bread. He said it was delicious. They even make cook to order flavored popcorn if you just want a tasty snack. As far as the beer, I got my standard flight which consisted of 3 IPA's and a Belgian Tripel. All of them were great but the Cool Cat Kitty Face (hazy IPA) and 228 Tripel (Belgian) were my favorites. The atmosphere is cool too. They have the standard inside area with a bar and tables, an outdoor patio is you want to eat Al Fresco, and a beer garden that doesn't have food service but a relaxing spot if you just want to drink a cold one. We were passing by Frankfort and wanted to try a local brewery...we're really glad we found Stormcloud Brewing! Here's what we liked: - Their beers are based on Belgium style ales, so I decided to get a flight. The flight had four generous pours and was very reasonable. There was a very wide range of different beers so we were able to try several styles...all were really great! - We decided to get some snacks to go with the beers and ordered the Truffle and Fresh Parmesan popcorn...wow, it was so good and a huge portion! I only wished I could have gotten an assortment of the four different flavors offered. The Brat Bites were another great snack...especially the Chips! - It was a rainy day and the inside of the bar was super comfy vibe. We took our dog for a walk and were looking for a place for lunch where we could bring him. Enter Stormcloud on Main St in Frankfort. We started in the beer garden and realized we couldn't get the full menu there. No worries. We put on name on the 20 minute or so wait list, grabbed drinks and their fantastic popcorn. Oh, and there is water available for the pups. In less than 10 minutes, we were seated in their outdoor covered section. We shared a chicken salad sandwich on naan or pita bread (I honestly don't remember, other than it was delicious!). The coup de grâce was Michigan cherries in the chicken salad. But of course. And when they say they like dogs (it's on their website), they truly mean it. The number of staff and other customers who paid attention to our dog was great. read more

The staff and owners are super friendly and keep the locals sane in the off season with pub trivia. My only suggestion is to make the Monte Christo sandwich a permanent menu staple. Stormcloud Brewing is one of those places that will always have a line no matter the time you arrive. My husband and I arrived at Stormcloud Brewing prior to it opening and there was already a long line of at least 20 people. Luckily Stormcloud Brewing is very large and can accommodate a variety of party sizes. During my visit there were many large parties that arrived and they were able to be seated rather quickly. Just a note, this was during the earlier part of the day so it does get harder to be seated quickly as the day goes on. The wait staff at Stormcloud Brewing were very nice. Even with them dealing with a lot of customers on a daily basis they didn't seem phased by the large amount of tables they had to manage. I ordered the sangria during my visit. It wasn't the best sangria that I've ever had, wasn't blended well, but it was strong. So after a few sips of the drink it was tolerable. I think all of the bartenders in the area had the same training which was have a heavy pour so be prepared! My table ordered the mac daddy and the stormavore pizza. The mac daddy was delicious, a nice amount of cheese and the BBQ pulled pork was a great edition. They tanginess of the BBQ sauce added a little flavor to the dish. The stormavore pizza was okay. Compared to the other food I experienced in the area this was one of the better options in the area. I was able to make another meal from the leftovers so that was great. read more

Stopped into Stormcloud Brewing for a late lunch after spending the day at Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore. The inside of the brew pub is very nice. But we sat outside because we had our dog with us. The outside space is very nice too. The service was excellent. Our server described the dishes perfectly. Made it so easy to decide what to get. Three out of the four of us had pizzas, each of which was a different style, and all of which were very good. The beer is pretty good too, especially if you like a Belgian influence. We'd be happy to come back here again next time to we're up north. read more

Pricing policy is a big issue for me. When I got the bill I saw that they charge a 2% surcharge for using a credit card, I don't frequent places that do this. Not having cash, I grinned and beared the fee. But then came their suggested tip, which was based on the final total that included the taxes and the credit card surcharge?!?? I will always just deduct the taxes when I do my final tip as many places do include the taxes, but this to me should be some kind of law or offense, to ask us to tip on the tax? And the 2% surcharge, I'll stop buying their beer when I'm home now too. Shame, Shame, Shame read more

Storm cloud is a great spot for lunch or dinner! The pricing is fair and the food is great. The macaroni and cheese was a hit (not pictured) and the salted caramel cookie was one of the best desserts I have had. The staff are always friendly and timely. There is free street parking and there is an option to sit outside during the warmer months. During the colder months there are a few igloos you can sit in. There are restrooms near the back of the restaurant. The vibes are upbeat and positive. The only thing I wish about Stormcloud is that they would add a traditional, basic house salad to the menu. I really wanted a salad during my last visit, but because I am such a picky eater none of the salads looked appealing to me. Maybe a house salad for the picky eaters would be a good addition! Overall a great place. Busy during the peak summer months and you can expect a wait. read more

Definitely worth stopping if you are in the Frankfort area This place has been on my radar, and I finally got a chance to eat there Great food, standouts were the cheddar ale soup and the pretzel bites with a tasty mustard sauce for dipping. I split some sandwiches with some friends, the bbq pulled pork and the fowl weather sandwich and they were good. My other friend ordered the grilled cheese and enjoyed it. The flights of beer went over well, my favorite was the rainmaker ale. The pizza looked great, maybe try that another time. The food/beer lean towards the Belgian side too. Stopped in for lunch today. Had about a 20 minute wait but was able to visit some surrounding stores to pass the time. Started out with the soup special (Cheddar Ale) which was jusk OK. We had the The Foul Weather Chicken sandwich, BBQ Brisket sandwich, and a small cheese pizza. The sandwiches were both good and the pizza was just OK. I can't compare this place to any other restaurant in Frankfort since I only went to this one, however, this place is really good for a small Lake Michigan town!! Stormcloud mostly has darker and heavier beers such as Belgians and stouts so if you're looking for something lighter this may not be your place. The service was great and everyone was so friendly! I ordered the rider on the storm pizza which had such a unique flavor but oh so delicious! Had a little bit of sweetness and the outer crust was pretty crunchy (just wish the inner was a bit more crunchy). The one IPA they had was very hoppy but had some juicy notes to it as well. We were in town for the Iron Man 70.3 event and the town was hoping that evening especially at Stormcloud Brewing. Open patio concept with park benches offering a comfortable and casual dining experience. Staff was incredibly courteous, friendly and attentive offering us flights of beers to sample and we ordered the birdwalker blonde which was light and refreshing and paired it with the cordon bleu sandwich. The entire vibe and atmosphere makes this a must eat restaurant if you're in Frankfort and if the weather permits dine outside. Big Fan! read more
