Brewery #267 Stormcloud is pretty much a perfect brewery for my tastes. I like good bar food, great beer and a cool place to enjoy them. Stormcloud does that in spades. The food menu is full of things like pizzas (that looked good), sandwiches, salads and apps. I got a chicken salad with apples, dried cherries, dried cranberries, red onions and a lemon vinaigrette. It was delicious and refreshing. Pops got the Fowl Weather which was a grilled chicken sandwich with avocado, bacon, tomatoes and mozzarella cheese on Naan bread. He said it was delicious. They even make cook to order flavored popcorn if you just want a tasty snack. As far as the beer, I got my standard flight which consisted of 3 IPA's and a Belgian Tripel. All of them were great but the Cool Cat Kitty Face (hazy IPA) and 228 Tripel (Belgian) were my favorites. The atmosphere is cool too. They have the standard inside area with a bar and tables, an outdoor patio is you want to eat Al Fresco, and a beer garden that doesn't have food service but a relaxing spot if you just want to drink a cold one. Stormcloud was so nice that we went back the next day just to get a few pints and enjoy the beer garden. read more

We took our dog for a walk and were looking for a place for lunch where we could bring him. Enter Stormcloud on Main St in Frankfort. We started in the beer garden and realized we couldn't get the full menu there. No worries. We put on name on the 20 minute or so wait list, grabbed drinks and their fantastic popcorn. Oh, and there is water available for the pups. In less than 10 minutes, we were seated in their outdoor covered section. We shared a chicken salad sandwich on naan or pita bread (I honestly don't remember, other than it was delicious!). The coup de grâce was Michigan cherries in the chicken salad. But of course. And when they say they like dogs (it's on their website), they truly mean it. The number of staff and other customers who paid attention to our dog was great. read more

Here's what we liked: - Their beers are based on Belgium style ales, so I decided to get a flight. The flight had four generous pours and was very reasonable. There was a very wide range of different beers so we were able to try several styles...all were really great! - We decided to get some snacks to go with the beers and ordered the Truffle and Fresh Parmesan popcorn...wow, it was so good and a huge portion! I only wished I could have gotten an assortment of the four different flavors offered. Stormcloud Brewing is one of those places that will always have a line no matter the time you arrive. My husband and I arrived at Stormcloud Brewing prior to it opening and there was already a long line of at least 20 people. Luckily Stormcloud Brewing is very large and can accommodate a variety of party sizes. During my visit there were many large parties that arrived and they were able to be seated rather quickly. Just a note, this was during the earlier part of the day so it does get harder to be seated quickly as the day goes on. The wait staff at Stormcloud Brewing were very nice. Even with them dealing with a lot of customers on a daily basis they didn't seem phased by the large amount of tables they had to manage. I ordered the sangria during my visit. It wasn't the best sangria that I've ever had, wasn't blended well, but it was strong. So after a few sips of the drink it was tolerable. I think all of the bartenders in the area had the same training which was have a heavy pour so be prepared! My table ordered the mac daddy and the stormavore pizza. The mac daddy was delicious, a nice amount of cheese and the BBQ pulled pork was a great edition. They tanginess of the BBQ sauce added a little flavor to the dish. The stormavore pizza was okay. Compared to the other food I experienced in the area this was one of the better options in the area. I was able to make another meal from the leftovers so that was great. read more

Stopped into Stormcloud Brewing for a late lunch after spending the day at Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore. The inside of the brew pub is very nice. But we sat outside because we had our dog with us. The outside space is very nice too. The service was excellent. Our server described the dishes perfectly. Made it so easy to decide what to get. Three out of the four of us had pizzas, each of which was a different style, and all of which were very good. The beer is pretty good too, especially if you like a Belgian influence. We'd be happy to come back here again next time to we're up north. read more

Pricing policy is a big issue for me. When I got the bill I saw that they charge a 2% surcharge for using a credit card, I don't frequent places that do this. Not having cash, I grinned and beared the fee. But then came their suggested tip, which was based on the final total that included the taxes and the credit card surcharge?!?? I will always just deduct the taxes when I do my final tip as many places do include the taxes, but this to me should be some kind of law or offense, to ask us to tip on the tax? Storm cloud is a great spot for lunch or dinner! The pricing is fair and the food is great. The macaroni and cheese was a hit (not pictured) and the salted caramel cookie was one of the best desserts I have had. The staff are always friendly and timely. There is free street parking and there is an option to sit outside during the warmer months. During the colder months there are a few igloos you can sit in. There are restrooms near the back of the restaurant. The vibes are upbeat and positive. The only thing I wish about Stormcloud is that they would add a traditional, basic house salad to the menu. I really wanted a salad during my last visit, but because I am such a picky eater none of the salads looked appealing to me. Maybe a house salad for the picky eaters would be a good addition! Overall a great place. Busy during the peak summer months and you can expect a wait. read more

We had the The Foul Weather Chicken sandwich, BBQ Brisket sandwich, and a small cheese pizza. The sandwiches were both good and the pizza was just OK. I have enjoyed Stormcloud Brewing many times. It is in the heart of Frankfort, right in the middle of the downtown action. In season there is a large outdoor space that really helps with seating. When we have been there, they have had good food, funky flavored popcorn, and good beer on tap. When we are in this part of Michigan, it is a favorite. read more

I can't compare this place to any other restaurant in Frankfort since I only went to this one, however, this place is really good for a small Lake Michigan town!! Stormcloud mostly has darker and heavier beers such as Belgians and stouts so if you're looking for something lighter this may not be your place. The service was great and everyone was so friendly! I ordered the rider on the storm pizza which had such a unique flavor but oh so delicious! Had a little bit of sweetness and the outer crust was pretty crunchy (just wish the inner was a bit more crunchy). The one IPA they had was very hoppy but had some juicy notes to it as well. We were in town for the Iron Man 70.3 event and the town was hoping that evening especially at Stormcloud Brewing. Open patio concept with park benches offering a comfortable and casual dining experience. Staff was incredibly courteous, friendly and attentive offering us flights of beers to sample and we ordered the birdwalker blonde which was light and refreshing and paired it with the cordon bleu sandwich. Too bad they allow dogs into their restaurant. We were not aware of this when we had lunch there this afternoon. We are from out of town. Passing through. We had a table outside. My husband started having an allergy attack when we were almost done with our lunch. He realized why..... the people seated next to us had a dog!!!!! He is Highly allergic to dogs!! He suffered with this allergy for the 2 hour drive home Dogs should NOT, I REPEAT, Be allowed in a restaurant. Unless they are a service dog!!!! My husband suffered all the way home and had to drive home that way. We weren't able to enjoy our trip home. Very frustrating. Please, to all restaurants that allow dogs.... reconsider this!!! I came in on a busy Friday night in the fall. There was quite a wait because this is one of the only good restaurants in Frankfort. After a short wait, we found a table outside in their covered, heated patio. We shared a table we a family but the table was big enough to share so neither of us minded. The biggest drawback was that so many tables were done eating and just sitting there playing games provided by the restaurant. Maybe they want people to linger and be the long hangout spot but it was annoying as someone waiting to sit to see a bunch of people playing apples to apples. But whatever. Our server was really nice and checked on us a bunch. My biggest complaint was my boyfriends soup came up before either of us got our drinks. He got his soup, I got my flight of beer a few minutes later and then a few minutes after that his beer came. Then a big later my pizza came out. I wish we would've clarified that the soup was his meal, not an app because it would've been nice to eat together. Oh well. We just loved Stormcloud! I had been to this brewery before, but this was my friends first time. He's been wanting to try it out for quite some time and I was excited he finally made it. This brewery can get quite busy so pack your patience. Not only is the brewery super cool, but the town of Frankfort, such a lovely town with awesome views of the lake. If you have time, take a nice stroll by the water. The scenic view is one of my favorites. One of the cool things about Stormcloud, besides their beers, the have a curling rink in the winter. It's so awesome watching them play. I've been here in the Winter and in the Spring. I love it all and especially the beers. I'm a Belgian fan and they do such a great job. They have good food too. Stopped in for a midweek lunch on a gorgeous June afternoon with family. Though told that our wait for an outside table would be about 30 minutes, we were happily surprised that the text that our table was ready came in under 10. Great start! The staff and servers were polite and helpful, although the service was a bit slow. Given the fact that they were training new waitstaff and the restaurant industry is still very much reeling from the pandemic, this was completely understandable and did not negatively impact our experience in any way. Most importantly, our meals were delicious!. The Foul Weather sandwich (grilled chicken, avocado, bacon, tomato, mozzarella, greens, garlic aioli, served on naan) was a table favorite and I would definitely order it again when we return. The Classic Cheese Flatbread Pizza served hot and bubbling, was also basic and delicious, with a truly outstanding crust. The sleeper, however, was the very innocent-sounding Truffle Oil & Fresh Parmesan drizzled popcorn. It was amazing! Who knew that something so spectacular could be done with an innocent (very generous) bowl of popcorn?? The only beer drinker in our group went for the Foeder Aged Schwarzbier and thoroughly enjoyed it, claiming it to be reminiscent of many of the beers he enjoyed while in Germany.
