We LOVED this place. I seriously can't say enough good things about it. We went twice while in Frankfort for a wedding. We typically don't go to the same restaurants twice while on a trip, but we got the boatman breakfast & monte cristo the first day, and it was so good we had to go back. Our first trip we sat inside the main restaurant and the overall ambiance was nice. We loved the birch wood accents and maple table tops. The bartender was very knowledgeable and made my husband two very well made drinks. The coffee was fresh and strong and delish. The monte cristo was exactly what my husband was craving, and the jam in it was home made and delicious. It's the same jam that came with the boatman and I wish I could buy a jar. My eggs were cooked well, but the star of the boatman was the potatoes. Crisp, flavorful, and addicting. On day 2 my husband got the boatman and I got chicken and waffles. This was sinfully delicious. The salted caramel sauce was to die for. This restaurant was exactly what we wanted it to be and we can't wait to go back! read more

I absolutely loved coming here. I was so impressed with their social distancing. I felt extremely safe while inside. The wait staff was also amazing. Everyone was so friendly and very prompt. Went to this neck of the woods on the spur of the moment. Frankfort is an ultra cute town and this place was one of the highest reviewed places in the area. There was an art fair happening when we stopped by so the this place had a long queue. We did stick it out and all the food on point. Good, but not great IMO, but still a great joint. We went during brunch, so the menu was a bit limited. The staff was also very pleasant and the cocktails were stiff. read more

Went here during Ironman weekend so it was quickly filling up. Service was prompt and responsive. Coffee selection did not seem quite as good as Perk's down the street so we waited to have our morning coffee. Burrito was good but beware it is drenched in sauce. May have asked for that on the side next time! Basic breakfast was great, highly recommend the sourdough and their in-house peach jam. Bar was active already and seemed well-equipped. My husband and I stumbled across Birch & Maple on a trip to Crystal Mountain. We sat at the bar and split a couple of appetizers and had drinks. It was off season for the town, so we didn't have a wait which was great, but this place is well worth any wait we would've/could've experienced. The apps we ordered were phenomenal. The bartender was so helpful, attentive, and kind, the prices were very reasonable, the at restaurant was well decorated and nice. Ever arrive so hungry that when brunch nirvana shows up, you plow right in verses snap a picture? The toffee bourbon syrup is the perfect base to chicken and waffles. Good brunch spot in downtown Frankfurt. Hit it on the way out of town for a late brunch with some peeps. Pretty busy early so we did an online reservation in which you have to pay for your spot in case you decide to not show and they keep your deposit (which is the antithesis of business since they'd just steal your money). However they did get a 2 person add on to our party seated next to us quicker than the 45 minute wait time they claimed it would be (pretty empty by this time now). Seated pretty quickly and waitstaff was great! Helpful and thorough, answered every question our party of 8 had. We didn't wait long either to get food nor drink. They pride themselves on their Bloody Mary so we all tried one. Not that impressive. The $14 version came with really good crispy chicken and a boiled egg but overall, we didn't finish them. Zing Zang and Tito's is a much better mix than what they offered. Spice levels were great though. Had the boatman's breakfast, 2 eggs any style, choice of meat and toast and potatoes. Pretty standard. Nothing to rave about nor complain about. Bacon was a level up from normal which was good. Also tried their corn soup; not bad. Again it was fine not above anything else I've had. Good amount of food for the price and nice, quaint atmosphere across from the lake. Give it a shot but note, they close after brunch for dinner so be mindful of their hours. read more

Our first time at this restaurant- a lovely experience! First, our server complimented my daughter and granddaughter on how nicely they were dressed. A small menu, but a good variety of dishes. The portabello fries were delicious as was the stuffed burrata. I had the pasta purses, they needed seasoning but they were good. The ahi tuna was the favorite dish of the evening - so many flavors! Classy place right near the water downtown. The Chicken and Waffles were very tasty. The breading was crunchy and the chicken itself had retained all the juicy goodness. Plus the toffee/maple syrup coating was excellent. The Meat Lovers Omelet was also a winning dish. They had some of the best cooked potatoes of any breakfast restaurant I've been to, ever. Another 5-star experience at one of our regular restaurant places. Nick was tending bar so I had a Manhattan and Rhonda Lynn had their "Dark and Stormy" signature cocktail (think Moscow Mule but with a premium dark rum). Both were terrific. It was so nice to have sweet Sarah serve us our delicious meals. We started out with the grilled brussel sprouts with parmigiana and spices. Rhonda had their famous kale and cherry salad with added Gorgonzola for her entree. Chef Natalie stopped by our table and helped me to choose her 8-hour Bolognase over a light pasta. It was like a dinner in Tuscany. Once again an outstanding dining experience overlooking Betsie Bay.
