I visited this restaurant in Honor, MI on Highway 31 for the first time today. Very confusing situation as it was not clear where the front door was, it is a long building with two separate large sections of the restaurant that look completely different, not only did no one from the restaurant greet me at the door, but no one even know I was waiting at the front counter for a long time and so I had to go looking for a restaurant employee so that they knew I was even there!!, the outside of the restaurant is very poorly "decorated", they apparently don't care enough to have anyone watching the FRONT DOOR, I had to go walk through the restaurant to find a waitress to know I was there and so I could be seated at a table!, my waitress was friendly, my food was good, prices were expensive, the dining room was clean, my table was gross and sticky, and no music was playing. read more

Great local breakfast spot! Highly recommend the omelettes and blueberry pancakes. Great service.

Fabulous breakfast with friendly service! I got the 3 egg, 2 meat, hash browns, and pancake. The pancake was the size of a salad plate. The food was hot and hearty. My husband loved his biscuits and gravy. We had plenty of leftovers for breakfast the next day. read more

The food and service was excellent both times I was there, I was with a large amount group of women who get together annually for 4 days away from everything. One time when we were there a couple of people hadn't shown up for work and the server (sorry, don't remember her name. Longish back hair) took on the roles of server, cook and busser and did an awesome job handling it without losing her cool! I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone traveling, road-tripping, or camping in the area. I don't have to recommend it to the locals, they already know what a great restaurant this is! read more

Good food don't like the fries though service is slow vibes are low other than that it's ok

Had we not been meeting 16 friends from a car club for a holiday gathering, both my husband and I would have returned our meals to the kitchen. We both ordered fish/chips (perch & cod). The fries were thin cut, well done and served cold. The fish was luke warm at best - yuck :((( We wont be back. read more

Great food , personal friendly service. Lots of choices on the menu. Very Upnorth and I love Honor

Perch basket awesome! 18 bucks fair price Great perch! Nice stripes!? One of mine was small so they gave me 5 perch instead of 4 which made me happy! Not a big fry person but these were really good! Very small coleslaw that was a little too creamy for my liking but was also good! Service good and bar was nice and clean. Tasty perch! read more

Stopped in for a few drinks after golfing Champions Hill. Super nice atmosphere & great bartender. We will be back to try their food

Very large portions of good food. Service was very good in spite of restaurant being busy. Interior dated - knotty pine. Art work on walls. Exterior a bit shabby. read more

Highly recommend this place! First time was at night they were having karaoke, the locals were just amazing. We came after my friends wedding and the place stayed open a little later just for us. Amazing group, staff was super friendly and nice and accommodating. Food was absolutely delicious next time I'm in Honor I will be back. read more

What a pleasant surprise. We have lived in Traverse City for years & have driven by The Platte River Inn so many times commenting that we need to eat there some day. Finally did it & can't wait to go back. We are previous restaurant owner/operators & tend to be very picky diners, always watching & waiting for something to go wrong. Never happened. The BLT with home made fries, Chicken Parmesan with Garlic Bread (I got 4 meals out of 1 order) & the Perch Dinner along with generous dinner salads were more than we expected. Quite unbelievable how tasty & fresh the food was as well as the heaping portions. On top of the awesome food we were quite surprised at how terrific our server, Ashley was. She was attentive without being overpowering & she knew what we needed before we had to ask. She was sooooooo busy, bartending, serving, bussing etc. She was the only one we saw working in the bar section of the restaurant. Always had a smile & seemed to genuinely care about her customers. Don't know how she does it. What a great employee & what a positive testament she gave to working at The Platte River Inn. read more

This breakfast delivered the goods! Jennifer had eggs Benedict on hash browns instead of English muffins! I had the breakfast burrito with sausage, salsa, sour cream, and tomatoes...with a few dashes of Tabasco! Brian was our server...friendly and quick with our beverages and food! BTW, large OJ came in a pint glass! Log cabin feel, super clean and spacious with big windows and holiday festive decorations. Cool mixed-medium painting of a "Hippy Canoe" when you walk in. Delicious food--too much to finish. Love leftovers! read more

Menu said Best biscuits and gravy and I have to tell you straight up Do Not get them. Also ordered a breakfast sandwich and it tasted like it was cooked on a dirty grill that was covered in burnt oil. The staff was very friendly and that part was ok. My wife ordered the blueberry pancakes and they tasted delicious and I am thankful that she shared. read more

My wife and I recently moved to the area. We stopped in here not expecting much. But it was delicious. We have been back five times over the last two weeks. Food is excellent. NO COVID PRECAUTIONS!!! None of the staff were wearing masks and although most of the patrons were wearing them they were not enforcing it. When we got there a handful of people were waiting and no one told us how long the wait would be. Judging by the amount of open tables we figured 20-25 minutes. An hour later we were finally seated. There were only two waitresses and they were doing their best but needed more help. A manager did show up and helped seat and bus tables and things moved a bit more smoothly however she also did not have a mask on. Once the food got there it was great. Huge portions and delicious all around. I got the farmers omelet and the gravy was awesome. I likely would not return due to the horrible service, long wait time, and lack of COVID precautions but the food was the only saving grace. read more

Food was delicious, wait staff was outstanding, restaurant was clean & comfortable. Prices are fair :) I usually don't like breaded fish but the breading on the perch is so light and delicious! The cheesy bread was tasty! The chicken in sauce was so good! We will be back! Thanks! read more

OMG, AMAZING!! And I didn't get a pic of the biscuits and gravy because they were devoured. I have never seen such huge portions and all homemade! And the toast I could just eat by itself! We come up several times a year and normally go to Dilberts, not anymore. And Maggie our waitress was the sweetest and attentive even though she was busy and the only one working. Stopped here with a group of 6 while passing through town participating in an athletic event. They were understandably busy because many other people from the event were also there in large groups. That's cool, but before we were even greeted, we waited 10+ minutes just awkwardly standing in front of a hostess station while the girl working told us she had "other things to do." We finally got a table in the bar, but it hadn't been wiped off. No big deal, but gross. Also gross was the cigarette butt on the floor. Breakfast food was unremarkable, but warm enough and filling. Server was friendly. read more

My husband and I were in Honor for an errand and were headed to a barbeque place that happened to be across from the Platte River Inn. We decided to try this instead and we were very pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed it. my husband had breakfast which was made to his exact order and I ordered the Rachel which was amazing. I had the fries as a side and they were awesome. So fresh, crispy and a huge amount of them. We will definitely be back on a regular basis. read more

I'm not sure how this place has so many good reviews. I should have known by reading thru them when the bad reviews were so strongly bad. There were hardly any other diners there at 6pm and it still took almost an hour and a half for our dinners to come. The waitress just kept saying they'd be right out. She said that for over half an hour. When the food came, it was terrible. She told us the white fish and French dip were "really good" and they were TERRIBLE. We couldn't get out of there fast enough.... read more

The outside looks like a bar, but when you walk inside it is beautiful! I got the steak & eggs which I at first thought was a little pricey, but the portion size makes up for the price. It was definitely splitable. Very close to the Platte River Campground, so if you're in the area you need to stop by. read more

My family and I were camping Saturday night. We got poured on. We were tired, wet, crabby, and exhausted. The Platte River Inn was the perfect recharge. Our waitress was very friendly, and was did an excellent job of anticipating the needs of our group. Everybody enjoyed their food, which is uncommon in my family, usually we get at least one complainer. I can't comment on price, my lovely girlfriend picked up the tab and I didn't even peak. The Platte River Inn was was great breakfast restaurant, my family and I tube the Platte River often and will definitely be back for a second visit. read more

Visited here for the first time. When we arrived, we were informed that because of a large party that arrived before us, we may experience a delay in our food being served. We appreciated the honesty, however, because of our server's (her name is Just) attentiveness, we didn't feel we waited long at all. When the food arrived, we were impressed with the portion size. Taste was outstanding. The fries were freshly cut. The perch was seasoned well and hot. My son's steak was comes to his preference and seasoned well. Every member of my family loved what they ordered. At the end of our meal, my family wondered why we didn't come here earlier during our vacation. Next time we come to the Empire/Glen Arbor/Honor area, the Platte River Inn will be a regular stop. Thank you for the outstanding experience and great food! read more

We ate dinner here today after all afternoon on the water. 14 in our party. Ashley was waiting the bar and the dining room (I think the dining room was technically closed but she let us come in anyways) and she was amazing. She was very attentive to our group. Food came out quick and was delicious. Portions are huge. Homemade fries were so good. Will totally recommend to others traveling in this area! read more

Like many other reviewers we went here on a recent trip to the Platte River campground. We had asked around the locals for a place for a Bloody Mary and and good breakfast and Platte River Inn was suggested. It looks like a popular place from the outside and once inside is popular with the locals. It has a log cabin theme. Staff was very friendly and quickly seated us. It was decently busy for the off time that we went. I could definitely see this being busy on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday evening for dinner. We were there for a more chill brunch time. This would really be a good place for breakfast, brunch lunch or dinner in families, groups or couples. The Bloody Mary left us feeling a little flat. A pretty standard Zing-zang mix which we don't care for and the standard pickle and olives. Ehhhhh. We ordered pretty standard breakfast fare. A very short time later our food came and the helpings won't leave you hungry. I had a delicious corn beef hash that seemed to fill half the plate. The eggs were good but the toast was pretty burnt. The beautiful waitress was very friendly and checked on us often. The price of being full was incredibly reasonable. Overall a good experience in the small town of Honor Michigan. If you happen to be in the area I would definitely suggest the Platte River Inn for a bite to eat. read more

I had called ahead just to give a heads up and was trying to be helpful by letting her know that I was bringing a family of 15 in around 2pm And planned to stop in early. I got a response "we don't do reservations and would plan to get here early " then was hung up on. I already knew you didn't except reservations because we had been coming there for years AND had given this business multiple 2nd Chances. Customer service doesn't work like that. We are done and you have lost our respect and business. read more

Great new bar addition is amazing. The staff is great and they have a wide selection. Music is on a jukebox and there is never a long wait for your songs. This is the best place in town for a drink hands down. Its clean which makes this place a step above any competitor. Food is good as well which is nothing new. I would recommend stopping by to check out the new addition. No cons! read more

Good food served in a run down, tired looking dining room. We had breakfast which was really good and plentiful. Platte River took breakfast up a notch. Be forewarned, if you stop in for breakfast, by the time your bill arrives, it will be time to eat lunch. read more

Thought we would give this place a try, as it was on our way to shopping. Underwhelmed at best. It was almost 1:00 on Saturday and they acted like we were early for lunch. Waitress wasn't sure if soup was ready. Unfortunately it was. Our soup was cold. I had a chicken sandwich that was terribly dry and had no flavor. My husband's burger was okay, but the fries were cold and had the consistency you get when fries are reheated. Told the waitress who seemed offended and offered to do nothing. Will never be back. read more

They Employees are very friendly, courteous and efficient. The food is very good. We live in Honor and have ate here quite a few times.

We went here for breakfast while staying nearby for the weekend. We ordered the breakfast burrito and biscuits & gravy. Food was pretty standard and decent. Service however was not so great. The menu said biscuits & gravy could be full or half order. When I asked for the half, the waitress abruptly told me they only offer one size. She consistently seemed flustered and asked us questions like what table number we were. It wasn't a bad experience overall, but given the choice would likely go somewhere else next time. read more
