The food and service was excellent both times I was there, I was with a large amount group of women who get together annually for 4 days away from everything. One time when we were there a couple of people hadn't shown up for work and the server (sorry, don't remember her name. What a pleasant surprise. We have lived in Traverse City for years & have driven by The Platte River Inn so many times commenting that we need to eat there some day. Finally did it & can't wait to go back. We are previous restaurant owner/operators & tend to be very picky diners, always watching & waiting for something to go wrong. Never happened. The BLT with home made fries, Chicken Parmesan with Garlic Bread (I got 4 meals out of 1 order) & the Perch Dinner along with generous dinner salads were more than we expected. Quite unbelievable how tasty & fresh the food was as well as the heaping portions. On top of the awesome food we were quite surprised at how terrific our server, Ashley was. She was attentive without being overpowering & she knew what we needed before we had to ask. She was sooooooo busy, bartending, serving, bussing etc. She was the only one we saw working in the bar section of the restaurant. Always had a smile & seemed to genuinely care about her customers. I had the breakfast burrito with sausage, salsa, sour cream, and tomatoes...with a few dashes of Tabasco! Brian was our server...friendly and quick with our beverages and food! Stopped here twice in 24 hours! Once for dinner (New York Strip) and the next morning for breakfast (French Toast and bacon for me). Good food, great service, and super friendly people. NO COVID PRECAUTIONS!!! None of the staff were wearing masks and although most of the patrons were wearing them they were not enforcing it. When we got there a handful of people were waiting and no one told us how long the wait would be. Judging by the amount of open tables we figured 20-25 minutes. An hour later we were finally seated. There were only two waitresses and they were doing their best but needed more help. A manager did show up and helped seat and bus tables and things moved a bit more smoothly however she also did not have a mask on. Once the food got there it was great. Huge portions and delicious all around. I got the farmers omelet and the gravy was awesome. I likely would not return due to the horrible service, long wait time, and lack of COVID precautions but the food was the only saving grace. read more

OMG, AMAZING!! And I didn't get a pic of the biscuits and gravy because they were devoured. I have never seen such huge portions and all homemade! And the toast I could just eat by itself! We come up several times a year and normally go to Dilberts, not anymore. And Maggie our waitress was the sweetest and attentive even though she was busy and the only one working. Stopped here with a group of 6 while passing through town participating in an athletic event. They were understandably busy because many other people from the event were also there in large groups. That's cool, but before we were even greeted, we waited 10+ minutes just awkwardly standing in front of a hostess station while the girl working told us she had "other things to do." We finally got a table in the bar, but it hadn't been wiped off. No big deal, but gross. Also gross was the cigarette butt on the floor. Breakfast food was unremarkable, but warm enough and filling. There were hardly any other diners there at 6pm and it still took almost an hour and a half for our dinners to come. The waitress just kept saying they'd be right out. My family and I were camping Saturday night. We got poured on. We were tired, wet, crabby, and exhausted. The Platte River Inn was the perfect recharge. Our waitress was very friendly, and was did an excellent job of anticipating the needs of our group. Everybody enjoyed their food, which is uncommon in my family, usually we get at least one complainer. I can't comment on price, my lovely girlfriend picked up the tab and I didn't even peak. Visited here for the first time. When we arrived, we were informed that because of a large party that arrived before us, we may experience a delay in our food being served. We appreciated the honesty, however, because of our server's (her name is Just) attentiveness, we didn't feel we waited long at all. When the food arrived, we were impressed with the portion size. Taste was outstanding. The fries were freshly cut. The perch was seasoned well and hot. My son's steak was comes to his preference and seasoned well. Every member of my family loved what they ordered. At the end of our meal, my family wondered why we didn't come here earlier during our vacation. Like many other reviewers we went here on a recent trip to the Platte River campground. We had asked around the locals for a place for a Bloody Mary and and good breakfast and Platte River Inn was suggested. It looks like a popular place from the outside and once inside is popular with the locals. It has a log cabin theme. Staff was very friendly and quickly seated us. It was decently busy for the off time that we went. I could definitely see this being busy on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday evening for dinner. We were there for a more chill brunch time. This would really be a good place for breakfast, brunch lunch or dinner in families, groups or couples. The Bloody Mary left us feeling a little flat. A pretty standard Zing-zang mix which we don't care for and the standard pickle and olives. Ehhhhh. We ordered pretty standard breakfast fare. A very short time later our food came and the helpings won't leave you hungry. I had a delicious corn beef hash that seemed to fill half the plate. The eggs were good but the toast was pretty burnt. The beautiful waitress was very friendly and checked on us often. The price of being full was incredibly reasonable. Overall a good experience in the small town of Honor Michigan. Great new bar addition is amazing. The staff is great and they have a wide selection. Music is on a jukebox and there is never a long wait for your songs. We went here for breakfast while staying nearby for the weekend. We ordered the breakfast burrito and biscuits & gravy. Food was pretty standard and decent. Service however was not so great. The menu said biscuits & gravy could be full or half order. When I asked for the half, the waitress abruptly told me they only offer one size. She consistently seemed flustered and asked us questions like what table number we were. It wasn't a bad experience overall, but given the choice would likely go somewhere else next time. read more

Honor is a great little town with side by side local bars. These are legit, not fake "dive" bars. It was empty on a rainy mid-May Saturday. We stopped here for lunch after reading some really positive reviews. We sat in the lounge area and were greeted by Evan, our friendly bar tender. He quickly served us cocktails. They had grapefruit juice! A generous bowl of fresh popcorn followed. We had our hearts set on a burger to celebrate the reduction my cholesterol. The patty melt was tasty and juicy. The fries were a wide/flat cut and they were delicious. In the middle of our meal a party bus of birthday celebrators arrived for shots. They apologized for interrupting our peace, but they were friendly and fun. The bar was very accommodating. Our total bill for a shared patty melt and fries plus 2 tall drinks was $20. What a deal! I can't wait to come back to Honor. I will try a meal at the next door restaurant, The Lumberjack. Drive a few minutes out of town to Beulah and there are more bars and restaurants. read more

Prior to COVID we had only eaten breakfast at PRI. They have a good breakfast and excellent coffee. A few weeks ago we stopped in for an early dinner and were pleasantly surprised by the excellent food. The soup was very good and the Rachel Reuben was one of the best I've had. I was disappointed by the beers on tap but there were many bottle selections so I got over it;) Looking forward to trying their fish and chips and some other fare in the future. Would definitely recommend giving it a try when you are lucky enough to be visiting Honor. Side note: They don't enforce masking and Covid precautions.. or at least did not when we were last there. read more
