Enjoyed my experience at Cherry Republic! Fun fact, they're the largest cherry producers in the US! This store has everything cherry you can imagine-wine, chocolate, salsa, jam/jelly, hot sauce, candy, gummy bears, coffee and even hand soaps/lotion. I appreciated the samples because that helped us pick out some of our favorite. In the back, there is a wine tasting area-don't forget your IDs! The store is located downtown, street parking only. Great experience, and willing to help out in a pinch! I bought a bunch of stuff to bring home to my girlfriend, and because some of it was in larger liquid containers (salsa and hot sauce) it would mean I'd have to check my luggage. This was the day after the CrowdStrike fiasco, and I later found out that Delta, who I happened to be booked with, was still having trouble getting back on its feet, and thus I did NOT want to risk checking a bag in the middle of that. So the next morning I called the store in Charlevoix and asked them if I could bring all my stuff back and utilize their shipping services to send them home. They said yes, and I came back later that morning. Larissa and Gary are LEGENDS and went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of! Even though I didn't have a receipt, they were able to dig into their system and locate the transaction by dollar amount, refund everything, then ring it all up again with shipping included. They even packed everything extra tight to make sure it was secure. I got home in time and the gifts for my girlfriend arrived two days later in perfect condition. read more

The Cherry Republic in Charlevoix is massive and almost feels like it takes up twice the size of any other establishment in the downtown Charlevoix area and I love it! It is like every other Cherry Republic in the sense that all the product is on display AND plenty of Cherry Republic samples are on display as well! To top it all off, the staff here is so friendly, clearly seem to love Cherry Republic and are beyond helpful in finding you the perfect cherry-based products for yourself and your loved ones, and just generally make the shopping experience even better here! It's especially perfect given how big this store is that the staff are super knowledgeable to help you narrow down the selection and point you to all the perfect things you didn't realize you'd want or need in your life! read more

Disappointed to find out Cherry Republic products contain risky additives. The salsa is the most disappointing, because you can find healthy salsas at any grocery store. Cherry Republic's contain Sodium Benzoate and Phosphoric Acid. "Cherry" may sound healthy, but it's a good idea to look at the ingredients before buying. read more

Three words: sour cherry balls. These candies are just soooooo good and a favorite of my family! This particular shop in downtown Charlevoix has so much more than that though. They have dried cherries, cherry bbq sauce, cherry salsa, cherry wine, chocolate covered cherries, and so much more. We always stop here for something special for the 4th holiday. This time we took their suggestion to make our own Sangria with their cherry wine and cherry ginger bear soda. There are a lot of fun summer wines here with similar ideas. (They have their own bottled sangria as well) We also always pick up a cherry bbq sauce for summer cook outs. They are taking COVID precautions by limiting numbers, wearing masks and using front and back doors for traffic flow. Very nice people working here as well. read more

A very nice store dedicated to everything cherry. They have little tastes of a bunch of stuff. From dried cheries, to cherry ketchup and cherry bbq sauce, to cherry horseradish and cherry mustard, to cherry salsa and preserves. I even bought a carmel flavored cherry apple sauce, because why not! I also bought a True Cherry Soda, excellent taste. Plus a Cherry Root beer, haven't tried yet. They also have a wine and cider tasting area. 5 tastes for free or $7 for a taste of everything, including the reserves. Plus you keep the glass. We did the free and really enjoyed what we tried. Cherry Republic is my happy place. As the name suggests, everything in this store has to do with cherries. That extends to more than just food! They have lip balms, soaps and lotions- all cherry scented. The bowls they sell? Cherry wood. It is a marvelous temple of cherry goodness. More importantly, this is the home of my favorite cookie: The Boomchunka. There's a couple different varieties available, but I like the Double Dark chocolate. Each package ($3.95) includes two cookies. They're thick and chock full of oats, dried cherries, and chocolate chunks. It is worth each and every copper penny. Naturally, I stocked up on these. I also got a container of cherry honey (I think around $6) and a bag of cherry pancake/waffle mix ($7.95). They're a little on the pricey side, but the quality and flavor is worth it. Possibly the best thing about this store, is that they always put out a ton of samples. That way you can taste the goodness for yourself before you commit to the price tag. No matter what location you visit, you're bound to be happy if you love cherries! read more

It was a customer appreciation day and they were giving away one boomchunka cookie per customer. We shared one, the double dark chocolate, amongst three of us. We shopped here in the summer and was pleased to see the precautions they were taking during Covid. They had hand sanitizer when you walked through the door and the store set up so that you are not walking all over the place. Upon completing your purchase they had you exit through the back door. We love everything from Cherry Republic. The salsas, the BBQ sauces, mustard, ketchup - everything. The staff is wonderful and the samples are delish. I fill up a box every time I come here. One little nitpick - only one. Whoever the chef is must be a 206 year old granny who has never heard the word "spice" before. The "mild" salsa - should be called a "soothing balm." The Medium Salsa should be called "No pepper whatsoever." The "High Heat" Salsa should be called "Not any hotter than Ketchup." Now, I am not some kind of ghost pepper chomping psychopath. I really don't go much past a "7" in my heat tolerance. But the scale used at Cherry republic doesn't go from 1 to 10 it goes from Negative (-10) to about .5, the "high heat" being the .5. So, the lesson here is do not buy anything below "high heat" if you like any heat whatsoever. Alternately stop calling this stuff "salsa." Its more like "cherry topping" than it is "salsa." read more

Downtown Charlevoix is nearly dead during the winter. We were there for ski season. I noticed that Cherry Republic was one of the few open shops, so I went inside, leaving hubby and the dog waiting out on the sidewalk. When the shop keeper realized that they were waiting outside, she asked me to bring them in. Really? A dog in a food store? So I guessed that food is not prepared at this location. This is only a retail outlet. That's why it was OK to bring the dog inside. The dog loved this place. There were candy dishes all over the place. A few candies had inevitably fallen down onto the floor, under some of the displays. She helped clean up. (A little bit of chocolate really isn't going to hurt the dog. But only a taste, OK?) We ended up getting the chocolate covered cherries that had a hot pepper kick. Very nice. And we had to get some cherry dog biscuits that came with a cute engraved dog tag attached to the bag. Out of our league with the prices, but everything seems to be very high quality and completely delicious. read more

This little store is amazing. You can sample everything they sell, which, of course, is all cherry related. Their cherry salsa is amazing! Just the right notes of spicy and tart. I love this particular store because the staff there don't care that you are just browsing. They encourage you to try everything and will help you pick out a treat if you can't decide. My sister and I strolled in one afternoon and tried just about every single thing there, and never once did the woman working the counter give us the stink eye or act like we were just mooching. During the summer, they have little bowls with samples of just about everything. I like sampling the things that are covered in chocolate. :D My brother and his girlfriend got me some chocolate covered cherries, cherry jam, and cherry chocolate lip balm for Christmas from there. The chocolate covered cherries are SO GOOD. The chocolate is smooth and the cherries were soft and plump. Mmm. Their cherry sodas are also pretty good as well, though I didn't especially like that they had high fructose corn syrup in them. read more

We looked this place up ahead of time and made a special trip to go visit this place. This store has all things Cherry. Everything they sell in the store has Cherry in it. From chocolate cherry covered espresso beans, cherry salsa, chocolate covered cherries, wooden cherry spoons, cherry bbq sauce, and so much more. They also have a soda bar in the back with different flavors of root beer and cream soda. We purchased a variety case (glass bottles) to take home with us. We had to pay the usual bottle deposit tax, which means I will have to keep these bottles, but it will give us an excuse to go back someday. read more

Although it is one of several locations, I love Cherry Republic! It is so enjoyable to come in, try all of the tasty cherry snacks, and browse the cherry inspired products! Also did a wine and cider tasting and was impressed! It js really hard to walk out without taking some treats home! Definitely had to have the cherry apple hard cider, and also some of the bbq sauce and horseradish dip! What better way to celebrate one of Michigan's biggest and best products! read more
