The cutest place located in the Village at Bay Harbor. Exceptional food and excellent service. Freshly made orange juice and delicious coffee. Strange that they offered espresso but no cappuccino. We tried the Harbor Omelette, Mushroom Omelette with bacon from Petoskey and a Bay Harbor Benedict. Everything was amazingly delicious! M+B Pancakes were delectable with a yummy warm syrup! Absolutely phenomenal staff and extremely friendly. We had a few people serve us but Paulo was wonderful. I loved the Original Pancake House and was happy to see a new breakfast place in that space. Finally got a chance to try it. The food is very good, but prices are out of line with other high-end places in the area like Palette Bistro or Bay View Inn. Pancakes are $12. Eggs Benedict is $17. Omelettes are $15-16. Plus, everything is a la carte, so toast with your scramble is an additional $2; if you want bacon with those pancakes, you'll pay the full $6 price. We enjoyed the food, but the cost will make it an occasional destination at best. read more

Delicious Breakfast! What an upgrade from the old place; the food is incredible, the ambiance is fresh and cozy, and the service is great as well, even during these transitional times. Flapjacks were the clear winner for me, but the strawberry pancakes, the omelettes and the bagel sandwich were yummy as well. Definitely will return when we come to Bay Harbor! read more

This brunch spot was super filling and had fun choices. It's a "hip" spot so be prepared to wait if you're aiming to go at peak brunch times/weekends. Excellent breakfast spot. The servers Daniel and Jordan were very attentive and very personable. The restaurant was located in a very nice area of Bay Harbor with a more modern feel to it. The breakfast foods were made perfectly. My wife was very happy that they had fresh squeezed orange juice and I was happy with the coffee they served. We will definitely recommend this restaurant to others and will be back when we are back in the area. read more

Underwhelmed. Maple and Batter has potential to have a superstar breakfast place. Location is the former Original Pancake House and the same problems of OPH still plague Maple and Better: slow service, feeling like they're doing you a favor, lack of vibe. Some items on the menu sounded great, but in actuality, underwhelming. Breakfast is the least value added meal to eat out, breakfast/brunch is purely a vibe. If the food and drinks don't wow, if the service is rushed/inconsistent/doing us a favor and if the place is kind of blah, there's no vibe! Lets get to it: I ordered a latte. It was so blazing hot it burned my mouth so badly, I had to spit it out. It took 3 days to get sensation back on my tongue. My partner ordered coffee with Baileys. That's the extent of their boozy cocktail options featuring coffee and they don't have an espresso machine. They wouldn't make a substitution on my order because they said they were busy. But they weren't busy and a restaurant that doesn't accommodate a simple request isn't really interested in making your meal a happy one. They're understaffed (longstanding issue in this place long before Covid, OPH was always understaffed, too), and the wait for food and service was long. Maple and Batter lacks enthusiasm for a restaurant poised to be amazing, serving a meal that should be fun, delicious and begs you to come again and again. I get it, it's a struggle to find help but breakfast/brunch is a vibe and this place has none. They could start by benchmarking others. read more

I was pretty excited to head to this new restaurant with my friends... but it was just okay... and left me feeling a little bummed. The main reason it was just okay in my book... the food and drinks were nothing too amazing. I love finding new places that serve up Bloody Marys, and I was disappointed with their Bloody Mary. Especially because it was like $15. For that much money, I expect a stellar Bloody Mary with fun skewers and such. And then the food was also just not too amazing. My friend ordered some bacon as a side dish, and clearly stated she wanted it extra crispy. When her bacon came out, it was anything but crispy, and she didn't end up eating any of it. All in all, if I'm looking for a really awesome breakfast or brunch spot, I'll head somewhere else in the Petoskey area. read more

Best Breakfast ever! We came in with a group of 15 and we're seated right away on a Sunday no less. It's not easy serving that many people and our waitress did a great job & was very patient even with a table of 6 hungry kids & 2 more people arriving late. The food was excellent - MAPLE BACON ! Cute place , super busy at noon , lots of to go orders . We had their biscuits and gravy and scrambled eggs with ham and onions . Rarely do I order eggs scrambled but this is on their menu so I gave it a whirl . It's a fine line between runny and over cooked , the chefs version was perfection . Service shined even with the mayhem of a full plus restaurant . There is plentiful outdoor seating options if you have to wait as well as things to see wondering . I had such high hopes for this place. The menu, service and atmosphere were great. We got the breakfast charcuterie platter and it was room temperature, and very bland. It kind of had a boxed or frozen meal taste. We also got 2 sides of scrambled eggs which were like a powder egg item and left a liquid on the bottom of the dish, also bland and not seasoned. One person got a side of ham and barely finished half of a piece. We also got two lemon poppyseed muffins to go. They tasted like baking soda and we're very dry and flavorless beyond the baking soda. read more

I've never seen a douchier group of people in a single restaurant, let alone town. Our family of four walked in at the same exact time as a loud party of 20 that didn't have a reservation and we weren't spoken to for fifteen minutes. Once we were acknowledged, we waited an additional 20 minutes for a table. While waiting, we walked down the street and returned one minute past our 5 minute text notification. Because we were a minute late, they gave our table up. We didn't eat here after all but I'm hoping that if anyone is considering driving to Bay Harbor to have brunch here, don't bother. This place makes amazing breakfast... the coffee to start was amazing (looked it up local too so that's a plus). Sweet potato hash with bacon with 2 over easy eggs and some hot sauce was FANTASTIC. But the show stopper at this place was the flap jacks.... Crunchy, thin, not super filling like a traditional pancake... honestly everything we got was amazing but I would go out of my way to get those flap jacks and coffee. We had to wait a very long time even though there were several open tables. We waited for over an hour! The service was average, as I had to ask for a refill on my coffee, and our table was next to where everybody's walking. I really didn't like that! I actually had one lady walk by and cough. Yuck!
