First time visitor to Bar Harbor and Harbor Springs. We are 3 ladies and walk in at 8pm on a Monday night to a "please wait to be seated" sign. The bar seating is full, but there are 4 empty high top tables and a booth open. After standing at the door for a good five minutes someone approached us and was a bit short with her tone. We said we wanted drinks and she said we could sit at the bar.....Hmmm it's full. They would not allow us to sit at a table unless we were dining. With 5 empty tables on a Monday night, 8pm, streets are empty, you'd think they'd want our business? Guess they didn't need it. We left and will not return. read more

We picked this place because we love local bars. I can't rate the food because we left. We walked in at about 1-:45 on a Sunday. 5 empty tables Wait to be seated. So we did. Guys in kitchen were chatting together & could see us. Waitress/ hostess was over by bar & couldn't see us. Finally waitress notices & shouts she has to clear off table. Another lady/ owner? So we hit up this place, Bar Harbor, in Springs, Michigan. You know how sometimes you walk into a restaurant and you're already bracing for it to be terrible? Yeah, this wasn't that. Food was good--nothing that's gonna change your life, I'm not calling my mother about it--but it was solid. You eat it, you're happy, you move on with your day. The service? Good. Like, they actually seemed to give a damn you were there. Drinks showed up before you finished the first one, nobody disappeared for half an hour like they got kidnapped in the kitchen--just... good service. And I appreciate that. Would I make a special trip to go back? Nah. But if I'm in the area? Absolutely. It's the kind of place where you leave satisfied, you don't feel ripped off, and you're not sitting there an hour later thinking, "What the hell did I just eat?" That's a win in my book. read more

Craving fish and chips, we scanned the menu and were pleased to see their basket offered at a price of $19.00. My husband and I shared the perch basket which came with 6 smaller pieces of nicely floured and flash fried perch, fries and coleslaw. The portion was enough for our lunch appetites. We did notice that the price had increased from $12.95 early 2020's to its current price of $19.00. Seems steep yet perhaps not out of step for the steep price increases facing most business owners. Everything was good, just good. The fish was a little dry and the coleslaw was fairly bland but cold and crunchy. The fries were thin and in the crispier side. We wanted to add ice tea to our meal but were warned by the server that "half our customers like it and half don't". We definitely did not like it. Very unusual taste. The best parts of our visits were the efficient, knowledgeable and hard-working server and the view out the window of our booth seat. We noticed that most customers ordered burgers and a beer (we don't drink). It looks like this local pub may be a better match for burger-lovers. read more

Food was pretty hit or miss and pricey, with up-charges for a few things. Burgers were quite good but the perch was a bit tough. My daughter's grilled cheese was a single American cheese slice on white bread and only half a sandwich. The place was decent enough but all the booths only seat 4, so we were on high tops which wasn't ideal. Service was fine. read more

Both burgers were undercooked, but were seasoned well. Everything was hot, fries were good. Service wasn't great. Took awhile to order drinks and food. I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt because it busy, but once we got our food we literally didn't see her again. Never checked to make sure the food was good or right, never came back to ask how we were on drinks (we all wanted another round of drinks) we waited and waited for her to ever look towards us or even come near the table but it never happened. I finally had to go to the bar and track her down to pay the bill. When I asked her if I could pay the bill, she didn't even know what table was even ours. Didn't ask how the food was or apologize for never coming over. If she was overwhelmed and just killing herself to keep up, I wouldn't say anything and would understand. This wasn't the case. Sadly the waitress insulted me after asking to put a sports game on saying the games over and they lost even though the game started two minutes before I asked. Had lunch there yesterday. Staff was friendly & attentive made us feel welcome. Atmosphere was lively but not overly noisy. My wife and I had onions rings as an appetizer and they were very good, especially with the chef's bistro sauce. Burgers were juicy and had great flavor - better than most. Unfortunate to leave this review because the food is decent, but today we encountered the rudest bartender in ages. A female with glasses who worked on a Saturday who didn't make eye contact for 5+ mins, didn't say hello, and then proceeded to serve people who arrived after us. She was dismissive and responded with attitude when I made a comment and we decided to leave. Would only go here if you have the patience for bad and rude service. read more

Carrie P is one of the rudest waitresses I have ever encountered. And the way she treated other customers that were elderly there was truly disgusting. As she also talked horrifically about all the other local restaurants as well. The service was horrific. Food was extremely bland. read more

Not sure why this pub gets good reviews. It was not overly busy yet several of the eight drink order were incorrect, and incorrect again after reordering. We kindly drank them anyway. Three dinners were completely wrong and sent back two or three times. One guest in our group finally cancelled her order because the rest of us were done and they just couldn't plate her simple burger meal. We shouldn't have to offer parts of our own dinner to feed another. Learned after we left that we paid for several sides that we never received. This pub was a first and last for our group of eight. I can forgive a long wait for food when the place is packed and clearly short staffed. But after waiting an hour for food, I cannot forgive having to peel the paper off my wife's burger patty. Amazing fresh Lake Perch and delicious burgers! They were busy but we were seated immediately and our drink and appetizer orders were taken. They have a full bar with local beer on tap. The servers are busy but we received our food and drinks quickly and our water glasses were refilled often. It has a great atmosphere and feels like a cool little neighborhood bar. After waiting 2+ hours for our food (which clearly just did not got put in)... we were served food that was not what we ordered. We were given an option to then place our order directly to the chef.. however we had already waited over 2 hours to eat. We ended up being charged for our drinks before we left... I have no problem paying for what's ordered but I do feel it is unfair to make multiple mistakes in taking, placing & cooking our order without any apology or recognition of mistakes! Again, I understand short staffed but it's hard to swallow when there's no apology, or recognition of the fact we waited multiple hours for food that wasn't coming... and on top of it all never got so much as an explanation or apology! One of the servers had the worst attitude I've ever experienced. Very uncomfortable experience here. Waited 1 hour to get our food. After letting her know we got the wrong order the first time, we got a snarky response. Then they got the order completely wrong the next few times. She heard us complaining and got defensive/gave us excuses rather than apologizing. My craving for an olive burger has diminished greatly since they appear to have changed the meat on their hamburgers. Reopened under new owners. The lighting and decor are appealing, and the ladies room finally has become more functional. If you have been here before you know what I mean. Another new addition is fresh lettuce and tomato! You can get it on your burger now, or have a Caesar salad. The current menu is somewhat limited, with a few appetizers and the Caesar salad. There are three burger choices - hamburger, cheeseburger, and olive burger, all around $10 and served with a bag of chips and pickle spear. $5 will get you a basket of fries. My husband was not pleased with the beer choices available. But our server was good, the burgers are still delicious, the view of the harbor is nice, and the owners wisely kept the name Bar Harbor. read more

Arrived at 340 and we were in a rush as the road trip was headed into overtime, we were both hangry. Perch basket was ordered and arrived 10 minutes later. It was delicious, and draft beer selection was good, included Guinness. We were out of there by 405; great service and food all done quickly. I would definitely go back! read more

The menu was fairly simple. Not a huge place (although location was great- right near the water). The food was good. We got veggie burgers (adults) and grilled cheeses (kids). Pulling into HS after a day on the water delivering the boat for Regatta it is the second place we stop after checking in with the Harbor Master. Awesome little bar restaurant on the Harbor Springs lakefront in a cute little shopping center! The menu is vast and they are known for their burgers, but especially the they are known for their olive swiss burger. Sadly, since I hate olives and swiss cheese make me nauseous...I stuck with my Michigan favorite. Fried perch. BF got the olive burger and said it was great, a little to many olives, but otherwise very satisfied. My sandwich came with cheddar cheese on it and fresh amazeballs fries! Oh and the beers on tap are FABULOUS! What's better than a fried fish sandwich and Sam Adams on tap...um, not a whole lot. Definitely an old school bar, and loved every minute of it! I think its family owned, but don't quote me on that. The only reason I say that is because the waiters are really chill and it just has the homey feel. read more
