Ally is a true healer, beyond competent and professional. I had such a great experience! I went in ready to be underwhelmed but hopeful that this would be a different experience and to my surprise it was. It's 2020 and I've been super stressed...and guess where I carry it? My shoulders. I've been having mobility/pain issues all year with my shoulders and didn't quite understand why, though I figured it had something to do with sitting in front of a computer screen for hours at a time. I briefly went to a PT who informed me that it was very likely due to my knotted up back and shoulder muscles, but she mostly just had me doing exercises. I even had x-rays done. I decided to try getting a deep tissue massage to see if it would help. I'm so glad that I came here and saw Bex. She pinpointed exactly the problem spot that was causing the mobility issues!! I can't begin to say what a relief it is to know how to fix a problem. She even gave me some tips on how to help relieve it at home. Additionally, Bex gives a proper deep tissue massage--she knows how to manipulate the body to access various points and to help release tension. I ended coming back several more times because I was so impressed, and simply just needed the stress relief. Thanks, Bex! This place also takes pandemic precautions. They have you stay in your car when you arrive for your appointment and your massage therapist will come out with a sign with you name on it when they are ready. I always had an early morning appointment and there was usually no one else there or just one other person. You wash your hands as soon as you enter. Masks are required. They are located at the corner of 51st and E. 38th 1/2 in a corner shopping strip behind a gas station. The parking lot has never been full that I've seen (likely due to the pandemic). I think it's a great place and I truly enjoy helping small businesses during this time. read more

It had been wayyyy too long since my last massage, and as I've been working 50+ hour weeks at my desk job I was starting to feel it EVERYWHERE. I need relief but don't want to spend a fortune, plus need to stay safe during Covid. What's a stressed out, knotted up girl to do?! Internet search to the rescue and I found Mantis. They had plenty of availability over New Years weekend (so I could get in right away), the price was right and it's a quick trip from my place. Hooray! Mantis was very clear with their Covid precautions, sending info via text and email explaining their protocols. I waited in my car until my therapist came out to bring me inside. Bex asked what brought me in, I explained the pains that come from sitting at a desk 10+ hours a day plus a recurring issue in my left shoulder area. That was all I needed to say, and Bex got straight to work on my very sore back. Oh man, the stretching, bending, pressure, everything was just glorious! She got deep in my trouble areas and worked out so much tension. Aside from being slightly sore the next day (which as a fan of firm pressure massages, I expected to be) I feel AMAZING! Bex, you are my new BFF. If you're looking for a day spa with a lounge and mimosas, Mantis may not be for you. But if you're looking for a top-rate massage in a clean, welcoming but no-frills setting, do yourself a favor and book ASAP. read more

She can really dig in and get the pressure I need, keep the flow, and properly adjust the time spent on sore spots after our pre-massage consult. I had a great massage with Crystal at the Airport location. I was skeptical about getting a massage during COVID but I felt like the precautions they took were top notch. My massage was awesome and very customized. I appreciate all the questions she asked beforehand. My only feedback is that I would have loved the oil to be warm or the room a tad warmer but that is very specific to my preferences because I run cold! After reading all the positive reviews, I decided to give Mantis a try (South Congress location). I was in desperate need of a massage. I get really tight neck and shoulders that cause migraines and have seen many massage therapists to try to work those out. Audrey was awesome. She focused on my areas of need with more attention and time than any other massage therapist I've ever worked with before, even doing trigger point massage on my SCM muscles. She also worked on my QL muscles that I didn't even know needed that much releasing. The 90 minutes flew by. I was only able to get in for one massage before they had to temporarily close (as of 4/4/20), but I had a really positive experience! It's small and casual, but it was so easy to book an appointment online, and I appreciate they offer shorter massages like 30 or 45 minutes as well if you're looking for a quick relaxation session. Mantis was great! I was originally scheduled for Friday at South Congress but with the storm their power was out so they rescheduled me for Saturday at Airport. I was thankful for how quickly I was able to get in. Great communication, easy to work with. Cori was my therapist and she was also great. Efficient while still relaxing, seemed very confident in her skillset. I only wish I had asked for the space heater turned on-- that was my mistake, but I saw it in the corner as I was leaving. There is good reason why Mantis is so well reviewed on Yelp: they genuinely work magic. I highly recommend them. Now ---- and they are very up front about what they're all about on their website, so this should not be a surprise -- this is not a milk + honey spa. There are no hot towels, steam showers, ladies locker rooms, spa water (there is water), salt or sugar scrubs, places to linger and relax, no receptionist to welcome you in, lux add ons, etc, etc. And they are definitely deep tissue focused vs. swedish/relaxation. What you're signing up for by booking with Mantis: you get a very intense, very focused, very effective deep tissue massage from very skilled therapist at a very reasonable price. Unbelievable value for the therapy service. Charming setting in an old strip mall. Crazy easy online booking (book early). Therapists are very accommodating to requests. I really respect their business model -- cut through the crap and get straight to healing. Tips: be specific on what kind of music you want to listen to in session; at their prices, gosh, splurge for a longer visit; there are many therapists to choose from, and if you didn't absolutely love your session with person x, try try again with person y! read more

Wow. Just... wow. I never thought that one massage would make such a difference, but believe me when I say that I am so grateful to Mantis Massage. To preface, I have horrible TMJ. My musculature was so tense that it was even making my facial proportions uneven. After a stressful week and a series of migraines, I finally decided it was time for some much needed relaxation. I scheduled a massage with an advanced therapist named Ann Marie, who was surprised at how far I had let my body control me before coming in for an appointment. She briefly screened me for what was causing the most problems and went to work on my tight upper body. Ann Marie blended the perfect amount of deep tissue massage and relaxation to loosen me up, and although painful at times, she never pushed me beyond my limits. As I looked in the mirror after my massage, I noticed that my shoulders weren't rounded anymore, and my smile was more even! Even better, I could touch my shoulder blades together again! Mantis Massage is a great place to come for relaxation and more advanced problems that may require more specialized care; of you need the latter, get an advanced massage therapist.
