An Orthopedic Bodywork session will give your therapist more liberty to include other modalities besides Deep Tissue (like Craniosacral, Thai Massage, and more) to more directly address your specific concerns.

      Deep Tissue Massage

      Craniosacral Therapy - Many clients do not know what Craniosacral Therapy is. Traditionally, it does focus more on the head and neck, this is what most people are aware of. However, what makes Craniosacral Therapy a very different experience than you are used to is that it mainly makes use of pressure that is no heavier than a nickel. This is quite unique. And actually, a typical session can include the entire body. Your therapist is assessing the pulsation of your cerebrospinal fluid within your cerebrospinal cortex and gently coaxing it back into a healthy state. This pulsation can be felt and affected all over the body. We call it the Craniosacral Rhythm. You may or may not be able to feel this yourself. Don’t fret, it takes everyone time and training to be able to feel it. Additionally, Craniosacral Therapy is used to adjust the bones of skull. Contrary to popular belief, the bones of the skull do not completely fuse with age. They remain just slightly, ever so slightly pliable. Enough that a skilled therapist can methodically move and stimulate these bones to promote a healthy movement of fluids within the skull and beyond. Craniosacral therapy is used to treat all kinds of conditions, ranging from Allergies and Anxiety to PTSD, Bipolar Disorder, Sleep Apnea, and TMJ. Receiving this therapy tends to put you in a trance. It is like a deep intense meditation, or like listening to an ASMR soundtrack. To have someone put their hands on you with such intense sensitivity, is a truly powerful experience. Crainosacral Therapy is done with clothes on. You can even keep your shoes on if you like. The best clothes would be like what you would wear to a yoga class: Allowing for modesty, flexibility, and comfort during freedom of movement.       Craniosacral Therapy

      Thai Massage - Thai Massage is such a fun and super effective modality. Don’t be fooled into thinking this is just for flexible clients, truly, Thai Massage is great for everyone at every fitness level! This service is done with the client completely clothed. It is done both on the massage table and on a traditional Thai mat on the floor. Your therapist will move you into a wide variety of stretches including hip openers, heart openers, twists, neck stretches, and still more. One of the most useful components of Thai Massage is that your therapist is able to perform deep compressions with up to their entire body weight, which at times is appropriate for some clients. Our room is equipped with a suspension strap set-up, similar to ashiatsu bars, whereby your therapist can thoughtfully and precisely apply deep pressure exactly where you need it. Thai Massage will make use of all kinds of postures, including lying face up, face down, on the side, seated, standing, and even supported yoga postures like child’s pose or pigeon. Thai Massage has been practiced for over 2500 years and has a rich history. At West Wellness, we blend the traditional methods with what we have found to be the most pain relieving methods. We recommend wearing clothes like what you would wear to a yoga class: Allowing for modesty, flexibility, and comfort during freedom of movement.       Bowspring Yoga - Bowspring Yoga focuses on a very specific, yet primal alignment of the body. We assert that the body is at it’s most functional and dynamic when the spine is in a wavy alignment where the pelvis is tipped and the ribcage is full, among many other postural cues. Many modern yoga classes and fitness classes will instruct their students to tuck their pelvis, where you are essentially hiding your tail between your legs. This is in an effort to make the body stick straight, like a skyscraper, with the idea that this makes you more stable. In Bowspring yoga, your tail is out, loud, and proud, while your heart is full and forward. Your spine more resembles a dynamic spring, fully loaded and ready for action! And yes, you do have a tail! Believe it or not, the movement and flexibility of your tailbone is absolutely essential to your health and wellbeing. More than likely, Bowspring alignment is one big missing piece of your healing journey’s puzzle. Bowspring Yoga can help you with: 1. Any kind of Hip dysfunction 2. Pelvic Floor Problems 3. Digestion Issues 4. Shallow/Rapid Breathing or Anxiety 5. Lack of Strength or Flexibility 6. Orthopedic conditions such as Sciatica, Text Neck 7. Relief from pain with Autoimmune disorders 8. Nerve Regeneration through Retraining Bowspring Yoga is excellent for anyone and everyone, but the students that really take to it tend to have a high degree of autonomy and accountability. They are self-motivated and they have no problem going against the grain to achieve their health and fitness goals. It does not matter how much pain you are in, when you start moving your body in the manner it was designed to move, you can start to heal. Bowspring can even be easier for students with little to no yoga or fitness background, because they have fewer preconceived ideas about how they are “supposed” to move. Learning the Bowspring alignment is a highly somatic experience. Just processing the instructions and trying them out can be a very emotional experience for new students. As they say, “the issues are in the tissues.” Once you reprogram the nervous system to allow for a more somatically open posture, all those emotions you were defending are fair game to surface. Whether that be immediately or over the course of the next few days, weeks, or longer. Just be aware, and be gentle with yourself. This private class is designed to be highly instructive. You will learn what you need to do with your specific body and your challenges to be successful with Bowspring. This may take anywhere from 1-6 sessions. After that, I recommend that you practice regularly with a group class. I can refer to you to online classes, online workshops, in-person classes, and on demand online videos. You can always come take another class with me if there is something that you are stuck on or if you need more explanation or refinement. When taking a Bowspring Yoga class, we recommend wearing clothes like what you would wear to any yoga class: Allowing for modesty, flexibility, and comfort during freedom of movement.       Orthopedic Bodywork - Orthopedic Bodywork is used to treat and alleviate pain from orthopedic conditions such as low back pain, text neck, sciatica, tennis elbow, TMJ disorder, etc. Your therapist will draw from a variety of modalities, techniques, and even retraining exercises to address your specific problem. Techniques from every service that is offered at West Wellness may be used, (for example, Craniosacral, Thai Massage, Deep Tissue Massage, and more) within your comfort level. Orthopedic Bodywork is very specific and will deal with your problem areas, but that does not guarantee that it will be a painful experience, so please do not let that deter you. But, in the same vein, do expect to put some effort forward to reach your goals. Your therapist will coach your breathing and guide you through the moves, but know that you will need to remain present and communicative. This isn’t the massage for just zoning out. This is bodywork for making real progress and tangible change in your body.       Orthopedic Bodywork

      Intra-Oral Massage - Intra-Oral Massage is work done inside the mouth while the therapist is wearing disposable gloves. The muscles of the jaw are very responsive to massage, and opening them is both helpful site specifically as well as holistically throughout the body. When the jaw is tight, the breath is rapid and shallow. The body is essentially braced, ready for some kind of impact or insult. Loosening these muscles will expand your ability to breath and you will feel a deep sense of calm. You will have a reduction in anxiety, sleep better that night, and you might even have a reduction in snoring. This is incredibly helpful if you have any TMJ Disorders, like popping, clicking, pain, or excess tension at the jaw. This work can also be helpful after a long procedure at the dentist, provided your dentist approves. Depending on your specific situation, we spend as few as 10 minutes working inside the mouth. There are many areas at the head and neck that also help to resolve these issues. So if you book this service, we still may spend most of the session time on other parts of the body. But rest assured, if you do have intense problems inside the mouth, we can spend as long as you need there. Intra-oral massage is perfectly safe and quite common practice. It may feel uncomfortable the first couple of times that you get it done, but you’ll notice immediately afterwards how much better it makes you feel and soon grow to appreciate the benefits it provides you. I will show you how to perform it on yourself as well. By the way, this also doubles as a lip plumping treatment! Oftentimes the lips are thin because the jaw is so tight, it’s pulling on the lips.       Deep Relaxation Massage - Deep Relaxation Massage is for clients looking for a service that will put them into a deep sleep or meditation. Sometimes what the body needs is to truly feel safe. Then, it can reset the nervous system out of hyperdrive (Sympathetic) and into its rest and digest functions (Parasympathetic). This service may include techniques from Swedish massage, Craniosacral, Lymphatic, and some light deep tissue. The overall goal is less about problem solving and more about mind body relaxing. Really, the body heals itself, we just have to get the mind out of the way. Your therapist will help to guide you into a place of calm. This is a great service for clients who have trouble relaxing into stillness and silence. The reasons for this could include: 1. Stress 2. Anxiety 3. Overwhelm 4. Overextending yourself 5. Feeling disconnected 6. Too much time at the computer or on your phone 7. Constantly in a position of leadership 8. A painful loss I would recommend any of our add-ons, such as Hot Stones, Silicone Suction Cup Therapy, and CBD/Aromatherapy. The room was ready quickly. The room smelled nice, with low lighting and very calm. I got a deep tissue massage with a focus on the upper body for 60min. WOOOW. The massage was pretty incredible. They were able to relive some knots, plus some. Overall a pretty amazing massage at an affordable price.

When I arrived, staff seemed confused by my appointment and the vibe immediately felt awkward. I requested a male masseuse which was accommodated at first. During the massage, the owner interrupted the session to have me redo paperwork while I was face down and topless on the table because I forgot to write the date instead of asking me afterwards. Later, the door was opened multiple times while I was actively being massaged face down so staff could casually talk to the therapist for almost an entire minute. At one point they apparently switched massage therapists entirely without informing me or asking for consent -- suddenly a woman, instead of the man I began with, was talking to me and I had no idea someone else was touching me. One therapist was coughing throughout the session, and another handled my body very aggressively, moving my legs without warning and forcing my hypermobile knees into uncomfortable positions. My neck hurts today afterward. The worst moment was when I was flipping over and the door opened AGAIN while I was completely exposed on top. No explanations or apologies. Overall the entire experience felt chaotic, invasive, unprofessional, and deeply uncomfortable. Honestly I feel violated. I've never had a massage where multiple people worked on me without explanation, the room was repeatedly interrupted, and my privacy felt so disregarded.

      Don't be fooled by this 5 star review. Here's a list of things that totally went wrong (service AND…read moremassage-wise) and the only thing the staff could say was "I'm sorry, but there's nothing I can do" or "I"m sorry but I wasn't here for that" 1. Book reservation for my husband and myself incorrectly (asked for 90min but booked for 60min) 2. Had to call back to confirm correct length of time for massage (upon reading confirmation text). 3. Got a call at 9pm (woke baby up) to tell me that they couldn't confirm a 90 minutes reservation for my husband because the masseuse may or may not be able to do a 90 minute massage. (Turns out the masseuse had an injury and they weren't sure if she could do a 90minute) 4. Husband's masseuse (the one with the injury) didn't ask him how the pressure was even ONCE and barely applied any pressure. If your staff is injured, then they really shouldn't be performing massages. We were on vacation and this was supposed to be our special treat. It turns out it was the catalyst for ruining on morning and day. Also, FYI. the location is SUPER hidden (which staff should really let people know, especially when they say they're from out of town). Miss the street and it will take you another 5-10 minutes to get back around.
