I cannot say enough good things about Mantis Massage & my therapist, Sandra ( airport boulevard location). I was gifted a massage for my birthday & had never even heard of this establishment. The communication is top notch & everything is via email. I filled out a form before my visit & let them know what my problem areas were along with other medical information. It's super professional & they only let you in five minutes before your appointment as the door remains locked for safety. It's so quiet & peaceful inside the waiting area, which sets the tone for your service. Sandra was very welcoming & automatically I felt at ease with her. She offered me the bathroom before our session as to not cut into our time, which was great. The actual massage room is very intimate & Sandra did a great job of setting a relaxing mood, especially with music! She again asked me a few questions before we started & I shared with her that a previous massage experience was not great. Again, the communication is great, Sandra made me feel comfortable enough to speak up throughout my session. This was the most amazing experience for me, I felt completely at ease the entire time. Before the city of Austin went into "essential employee" mode for the good old 'Rona, I came here for a massage. It was easy to book online and this location is close to my new house. Two hip hip hoorays for me! I was able to schedule an appointment with Sydney easy peasy. Upon entering, I was greeted with some lavender-scented hand sanitizer and a form to fill out. Sydney listen to my concerns and got to work on me. Overall, the massage was really good. She was able to work out my calf strain from a recent kickboxing injury. This has been extremely helpful since my gym is shut down, thanks to old 'rona. I am now able to run on my calf without any issue. The only odd thing about the massage I must note was the choice of music. It was folksy instead of your traditional massage spa music. Oh well, to each their own. Probably the best massage I've ever had (Bobbie was my therapist). Perfect balance of therapeutic and relaxing. The business is very professional. I completed the intake online and didn't have to fill anything out upon arrival. My appointment was at 7:30am, and I arrived 10 mins early, expecting nobody to be there. There were already 3 people at the front desk, calm and ready at 7:20am! It was chilly in the morning, and the massage table already had its heater on, and the room had great lighting and had chill, enjoyable music on. The whole vibe there is great: it doesn't feel clinical, but it's not incense and pan flutes either. Just super chill, super professional, and an excellent massage. read more

Bobbie was my masseuse and she was EXCELLENT. I could tell she was very in tune with how my body was responding and would adjust accordingly. I've only ever had 3 other massages and all of the masseuses cause me to twitch almost constantly so I expected I would have the same experience but even with firm pressure I hardly twitched at all! She never hurt me even though I said "intense pressure" lol, it was just right. Thank you Bobbie :) As far as the building - it is super cute and clean and the woman who greeted me was very friendly. Also I don't know if it was my masseuse's choice but the music was perfect - none of that yoga flute music nonsense (ok, it has its time and place), but just good indie music. I went in for a 45-minute targeted treatment with Janita, and it was a GAME CHANGER! You already feel at ease when you step into the Mantis Massage. I booked a 60-minute appointment with Sydney. Mantis Massage has two types of massage therapists, your typical LMT and your advanced LMT. I booked it with Sydney not solely due to availability, but because she's well-versed in trigger point therapy. Sydney focused on what I needed the most work done, my upper back and my hips. I easily get stressed and that compromises my posture. I also have weak hips. What I can't emphasize enough is Sydney really knows her stuff! You would have thought she was in physical therapy school as well! She manually tested my hip strength and checked my range of motions. She also offered stretching techniques for my quads and for my hips. I was feeling sore the next day, but guess what, NO BRUISES! That's what you get when you're paying for an advanced LMT! As long as I can afford to budget massages and live within a reasonable distance, Mantis Massage will be my go-to establishment. I had an insanely stressful work week and finally decided any massage was better than no massage. I booked the next available appointment at the Airport location and I was assigned Zanni. I was desperate for anyone, really, but I was shocked by how amazing she was. One of the best therapists I've ever had work on me... and I've gone through enough people to get a gauge. A lot of these massage therapists at Mantis Massage seem to have glowing reviews, so I'm sure you can't go wrong with anyone here, but I had Zanni and would 100% recommend her for anyone. For reference, I prefer an extremely firm/deep tissue massage. I grew up in an Asian household and the shiatsu massage and typical Asian foot massage with the high pressure points are my go-to. My tolerance for firm massages is very high and I desire a very firm/deep tissue massage experience. Zanni can do it. Go book an appointment now. Seriously. read more

After reading all the positive reviews, I decided to give Mantis a try (South Congress location). I was in desperate need of a massage. I get really tight neck and shoulders that cause migraines and have seen many massage therapists to try to work those out. Audrey was awesome. She focused on my areas of need with more attention and time than any other massage therapist I've ever worked with before, even doing trigger point massage on my SCM muscles. She also worked on my QL muscles that I didn't even know needed that much releasing. The 90 minutes flew by. It's 2020 and I've been super stressed...and guess where I carry it? My shoulders. I've been having mobility/pain issues all year with my shoulders and didn't quite understand why, though I figured it had something to do with sitting in front of a computer screen for hours at a time. I briefly went to a PT who informed me that it was very likely due to my knotted up back and shoulder muscles, but she mostly just had me doing exercises. I even had x-rays done. I decided to try getting a deep tissue massage to see if it would help. I'm so glad that I came here and saw Bex. She pinpointed exactly the problem spot that was causing the mobility issues!! I can't begin to say what a relief it is to know how to fix a problem. She even gave me some tips on how to help relieve it at home. Additionally, Bex gives a proper deep tissue massage--she knows how to manipulate the body to access various points and to help release tension. I ended coming back several more times because I was so impressed, and simply just needed the stress relief. Thanks, Bex! This place also takes pandemic precautions. They have you stay in your car when you arrive for your appointment and your massage therapist will come out with a sign with you name on it when they are ready. I always had an early morning appointment and there was usually no one else there or just one other person. You wash your hands as soon as you enter. Masks are required. They are located at the corner of 51st and E. 38th 1/2 in a corner shopping strip behind a gas station. The parking lot has never been full that I've seen (likely due to the pandemic). I think it's a great place and I truly enjoy helping small businesses during this time. read more
