I've been going to the Airport location since almost the beginning, which means I've received dozens upon dozens of massages there. Every single experience has been wonderful. Walking into Mantis Massage feels like I'm walking into home. (Actually, it's way more magical and yummy-smelling than my own home.) I've worked with several of the therapists there and they've all been lovely. You can tell that the owner cultivates a happy work environment. Everything from the decor to the bedding to the curated playlists shows that Mantis Massage cares deeply about the comfort of their customers. I've been super stressed from the last few weeks and really needed a breather. Wine was nice but temporary, yoga and working out helped take some of the edge off, but I really needed to get that zen back. At the spur of the moment last Wednesday, I booked a massage at Mantis. Plenty of 5-star reviews here and I've been trying to find an Austin message studio near my office so I can stop by during the work week, so why not. I booked the very last 45 minute appointment at noon on their online scheduling system, nice! The place had a chill Austin vibe to it, something that's been sadly disappearing from this city over the past few years. The colors were peaceful and the staff was friendly. I can't remember who my massage therapist was since I was in such a rush, but I told her that my body was real tense and most of my work involved sitting in front of a computer for long periods of time. She focused a lot of the time on my shoulders, neck, and head, amazing...it was like someone magically lifted these invisible weights off of me. She finished off with some general compressions throughout the rest of my body. I remember feeling like a completely different person after the massage. Clearer thoughts, inner peace, all of that happy stuff. Overall, I'm glad that I took the last minute massage at Mantis, I'll be coming back! read more

A little background before my review of Mantis. In general, my whole right side from my knee to my shoulder has been out of wack for over a year and I've been working with a chiropractor and physical therapist and things have gotten better over the last couple of months. The only issue is that the massage I get from the physical therapist is not at all relaxing, the opposite, in fact. She gets deep into the pain points and I do a lot of active contraction and relaxation of muscles. The results have been great, but at the end of the massage I am exhausted not relaxed. So despite getting a massage every couple of weeks for the last 2 months, I really needed a relaxing massage. I booked a 90 minute massage with Rosalyn and it was great. She has a great instinct for where the tension is and her technique and pressure work well to ease it. I will definitely be back for more. Mantis Massage is a very nice place. It is clean and comfortable and very focused on the massage. It's not a super fancy day spa, they do massages and they do them well. read more

She did cupping and used Swedish massaging techniques and it left me feeling super refreshed and amazing after. They are being very safe following regulations in regards to COVID. I will preface this review with I am a medical massage therapist working in Houston, Tx. My work is very clinical and I work mainly with clients that are under the care of a physical therapist or rehabilitation of some sort. Last night, a friend of mine scheduled me a massage. I have been living at the hospital for a month with my husband who was in a car accident. I haven't worked in a month and I haven't done my usual daily yoga in that time. I was a wreck. I have never had such a good massage in my life. My massage therapist listened to where my pain was, and she completely worked out a body massage plan that was all the same time the most relaxing massage I have ever received and the most technically amazing deep tissue work I have received to date. I have received great work on both ends, but never has a therapist put so much effort and care into both. To be able to do both at the same time is a talent that I have never experienced and it has given me a goal to work for in future massages for my own clients. I can not give a higher rating to the staff and the work done at Mantis Massage, truly if you need a massage, this is the place to go. read more

This is my happy place! I'm a terrible client who never schedules regular maintenance massages and waits until I'm in significant pain to book one. As a result, I usually just book with whoever I can get in to see the quickest. I've had massages from quite a few of the therapists at Mantis and they've all been superb! Very professional & always therapeutic. If you're looking for a relaxing massage in a spa environment, you'll probably be pretty disappointed. While I do feel relaxed getting a massage here, it's definitely *deep* tissue that they excel in. The space is really nice, clean, & cozy, but it's definitely not a spa. However, if you're looking for therapeutic massage that will really relieve tension & pain, this place is the best in Austin! read more

Mantis makes it easy to book an appointment. Every massage therapist I've seen here as been really great. Get there a few minutes early so that you enough time to chat with them about what areas you would like them to focus on and what kind of pressure. I like that they ask you questions and listen to your concerns. They also provide some tips after your session to help you in between appointments. All of the rooms are quiet and calming. They offer specials every now and then so sign up for the promo emails. They won't inundate you emails either. read more

Need to re-iterate how great this place is! Now they have two locations. I feel like it's one of Austin's best kept secrets! I live in the neighborhood and that's how I initially found out about it, searching for a spa close by for a massage. I have really bad shoulder pain that's usually where I carry my stress, I've had many massages before to try to relive it, but this is better than going to a chiropractor! Often times massages will temporarily relive my stress, my shoulders always feel pain free for months after. I've been going about every 3 months that's how long it takes away my pain. They're well priced (cheaper than milk and honey or viva), I've been to all three and non compare to the quality at mantis. I love when you walk in its modern and homey, (adult coloring books in the waiting room even)! Booking online is a breeze- do yourself a favor and "treat yo' self" with a massage from Mantis! Went to see Monica after reading Yelp! reviews and she is as amazing as everyone says. She isn't just a knowledgable, capable masseuse, she is extraordinarily talented, intuitive and wise about bodies, movement and people. Best massage of my life, and I have tried them all over town and in many towns. I have injuries and arthritis in my neck and my last massage (at a less expensive place) left me with excruciating pain in my neck. I partly picked Monica because she does Crainal Sacral, so I knew she knows how to deal with special necks and heads. I told Monica about my condition and the experience and she knew immediately knew what to do and what not to do. And even gave me advice what to be aware of and ask for when getting a massage to keep my neck safe. The rest of my body was incredibly well taken care of too, with the perfect pressure for me and releasing key trigger points that helped my whole body relax and realign. Mantis has a nice peaceful atmosphere and I'm happy to have found them, and happy for their success. I look forward to more massages with Monica and the team. read more

So glad I found this place tucked away about 5 minutes from my house! Yesterday was my first visit and Sandra was an absolute joy! The space is small but very inviting. A great massage that was a perfect mix of relaxing but focused pressure on areas where I had a lot tension. To top it off, the price point was incredible. I really would give FRANKIE a 5 but the overall Mantis Massage a 4. I am always a 20% tipper in all aspects of my life. So when I saw the sign about tipping and the increments I SHOULD be tipping was a turn off. I feel like it is tacky and the last thing I want to feel is guilted I didn't give enough of a tip by THEIR standards. I'm updating my review: I really want to keep coming to this place but I can't seem to find a therapist I like. A little background: I've got knots all over my back, one of which has been there for years. Luci was the only therapist who was able to get them to release during a session. She used gentle micro-movements and I always felt better afterward. Since she left I've tried... Monica- decent therapist, but her massages always felt impersonal and cut n' dry, and I always had to remind her to not massage my face Kalli- also decent, but incredibly forceful, to the point where I couldn't relax and actually felt worse afterward. Sorry Mantis, but I may have to look elsewhere, unless you can clone Luci. read more

I have some difficult neck issues and this was my first time trying a massage for it. My massage therapist (Taylor) was fantastic! She spoke with me first about what areas were of the most concern and definitely addressed those. I've not felt such relief in my neck for years. I plan to go back, hopefully once or twice a month, to continue helping and getting back into alignment. I think Taylor may have reversed a year+ of damage and it finally feels better. All of the staff I encountered were helpful and nice. I'd definitely recommend and look forward to future visits. read more

I had my first massage here with Dannie this last Saturday after 3 years since my last massage and this whole last year spent working from home without a proper workspace doing it's worst to my body/posture and causing me to develop carpal tunnel. So needless to say, I am presently chronically tense, but after my appt Saturday I was floating on a cloud. Dannie was fantastic! She was very considerate and provided me great relief and I look forward to going back and working to get my body back to stasis. She suggested/offered cupping which I'd been curious about so I decided to give it a shot and she told me what to expect and to let her know if anything was too intense or painful. My husband was even feeling the bruises the cups leave after and said, "Wow, you can even feel the difference in tension from where she did the cupping." (He was my go-to masseuse before I decided to seek a professional hahaha). I'm excited to try that again next time. It's gonna take more than one massage to unknot this bag of ropes my back has become, but I'm glad I found a great place and people to go to for that relief! read more

I've been searching for 8 years across 3 cities to find a masseuse that I was compelled to book a follow-up appointment with after my first visit. Finally found Monica. I've had fantastic massages before, but this was just a bit extra on the therapy side, which is exactly what I needed. I appreciated her dialogue about what she was noticing and we tried to unwind my left hip and lower back, and her prescription of a foam roller to loosen things up for next time is something I can clearly feel making a difference. I cannot wait to get in there again in 3 weeks and see how much more of this misalignment nonsense we can address (seriously, I'm thinking about booking another one next week because I want that treatment again). read more

I've been having trouble with my right shoulder, and nothing else had really helped, so I decided to give massage a try. After checking out some places on Yelp, I decided that Mantis was going to be my jam. Mostly, I liked Kyra's no-frills attitude about treatment and therapy. I don't need a coffee scrub; I need my shoulder to not hurt. She and I are in agreement on that point. I called to schedule my appointment (though you can do it online) because I had some questions and wanted to get someone who specialized in what I needed. Lindsay answered all my questions, assured that any one of their therapists would do a great job, but said that Kelsey would be awesome and had the availability I needed. She sent me an appointment confirmation and encouraged me to stay hydrated. Showed up for my appointment, and Kelsey sat me down, asked what I needed, knowledgeably explained what she was going to do, and then did it. I told her to beat the shit out of me if that's what was needed, and she did not disappoint. I asked for deep tissue with high pressure, and she did a great job. She checked in on me from time to time make sure the pressure was appropriate. Two hours later, I was not ready for it to end, but it did. She gave me a lot of pointers on staying hydrated, taking in vitamin C, and how to stretch some of the muscles we had discussed. The price was great too. My shoulder is well on its way to recovery now, and I can't wait to go back in. read more

I was gifted a 90 minute massage and was recommended to Luci. I was a little apprehensive, having never been treated to something like this. Wasn't too familiar with protocol, but Luci put me at ease with a warm greeting and cheerful attitude. The facility was nice and had a great atmosphere. I had kind of bulky beats studio wireless headphones on for the first part, which was fine, but I would recommend small ones if you wanna keep them on throughout. There is also a little system in the room that you can put to anything you like. The massage itself was fantastic. Anyone can give a backrub, but she took it to an entirely new level I didn't even know about. I relished every minute. As I was laying there, the image of a huge asteroid burning up through the atmosphere on its way to earth all in slow motion came to me; I would say that's what the massage felt like. To be brutally honest, I'm a big dude with a hairy back and I didn't feel she held back at all. There is a clock in the room, so I know it took 90 minutes, but it flew by! Half way through I felt like I had been sedated and as I left I felt like a clay figure melting in the sun. I had to sit in my car for a few minutes just to muster the will to drive. I would definitely recommend Mantis Massage and Luci to anyone. Great experience read more
