Seeing as how this was my first time ever going to a massage parlor; I am still confident in my belief that any other place would fall short of the standard set by Mentis. Top notch services and settings, appreciate it! read more

11/10! Being new to the area- I saw these reviews and decided to give Mantis Massage a try... and WOW! My Quality experience started the moment I walked in. The atmosphere was saturated with peace and I was warmly welcomed by Sandra, who was very thorough and adept at answering any questions or concerns I had. She does OUTSTANDING work y'all; she quickly found the "spots" that have been tense and causing pain in me for years (without me saying anything) and gently worked her way deep into those "spots" to alleviate my pain and loosen all the surrounding areas. I literally floated out the front door after my first session! Can't wait to go back. read more

I am going to be honest. Sometimes Mantis can be hit or miss depending on a variety of factors: 1) my mood 2) my expectations 3) my comfort level with the therapist 4) what i need to be worked on. This has absolutely nothing to do with who I have seen and this establishment. Kyra has done a beautiful job of finding great people to work here for a variety of demanding clients! Sometimes you have to try a few times before you find your groove. I have seen different therapists and found a few that just hit all the spots! But specifically I would whole heartedly recommend Taylor (airport location). I am selfish and don't want to share her, but she is too good to not shout about!!! I carry all my stress in my neck and my job makes me warp and twist my shoulder and hands. I started seeing Taylor once a week 30 min sessions, and what she can do in 30 min makes it feel like a 1 hour massage. The way she orchestrates a session with her magic hands, I have no doubt everyone will love her! If you communicate your needs, Taylor will make sure to get in those spots. She is kind, patient and her knowledge of the craft is something I value! Please Please Please go see Taylor, but don't take my weekly spots ;) read more

Had a deep tissue massage 1st time at Mantis yesterday and Becki did a fabulous work out. She found all the right places and gave a great massage. Felt terific afterward. Thank you. read more

I had the best massage I've ever received with Melissa. She really listened to me before and targeted all the right areas so that afterwards, I not only felt super relaxed, but energized and like I was breathing easier. She followed up with me on some stretches I could do at home to continue my progress. I will be back! The space and other therapists I met were all very welcoming as well. They made sure I had plenty of water, and felt comfortable taking all the time I needed to decompress before I left. read more

Go see Khammi! She's my favorite massage therapist because she's MAGIC. She tailors the massage to my needs and I always leave feeling fabulous. I highly recommend her!! read more

Had the most amazing massage by Sparkle today. It has been aong time since my last one and I steer away from deep massaged but due to ongoing work as a bus driver and sitting doing school work everything is tensed up. I also started having bad sciatic back pain recently and needed immediate help! So after my chiro appointment I felt I needed a massage to add to the job. I found Mantis close by with an opening. Been in the area my whole life and never knew they were there!! Sparkle addressed the areas we discussed and then some with perfect precision!! I definitely will be back soon. Thank you so much. read more

I had a 90 minute pre-natal massage with Becca. At 34 weeks pregnant, I'm incredibly hesitant to break quarantine but my growing body was in desperate need of some TLC. I appreciated the cautious measures Mantis takes for clients and felt safe with required masks, handwashing, and it seemed like I was the only one in the office on a Sunday. WOW - Becca was amazing! I wish I'd been able to see her at earlier stages of my pregnancy. She was so sweet and accommodating, plus when I asked for deep pressure she went to just the perfect amount of firmness. I was so relaxed for our 90 minutes that I faded in and out of sleep while my muscles got an exceptional kneading. My husband even commented that I looked a few inches taller today. Hoping that I can squeeze in one more appointment before the baby comes. read more

These folks are so wonderful. I've come back twice - both times for back pain issues. I saw Becky and Kelsey. They're both awesome - they have their own styles and both led to me feeling so much better. The vibe of Mantis is so nice. I know they advertise themselves as a no-frill massage studio, but I think its perfectly cool... essential oils, calming music, the works. It's also really nice that they offer so many different pricing options. I've been going in for 30-minute sessions. I'd love to go for an hour, but sometimes you gotta keep costs down :) 30 minutes with these folks is an incredible experience. I couldn't imagine a better addition to our community. read more

I moved to Austin after living as a professional dancer in NYC for 19 years. Massage has just been a part of my regular maintenance as a dancer and my standards are really high. My session with Crystal was perfect. I woke up this morning feeling incredible in mind, body, and spirit. I never expect much from businesses that employ several massage therapists. I'm used to independent therapists who know exactly what I do because they've watched me do it and they've treated dancers almost exclusively. So the bar was set unfairly high when I booked with Mantis Massage. I couldn't have been more impressed with Crystal. Patient, kind, great listener, and stellar massage therapist. Additionally, MM's COVID precautions were set up VERY safely. If you're reading this, Crystal, thank you so much! I'll be back for more! read more

If Makala was a musician, she'd be a bass cellist. For the NY Philharmonic. It's hard to imagine sensual with full throttle, but that's what her massage was. She has an amazing touch that is firm, confident and healing. Tapping muscles I'd forgotten I had, she unleashed energy in me I haven't felt in the last year. In other words, I feel great! She's not a high energy energizer bunny with a cheerful smile -- she's a balanced masseuse, comfortable in her own skin. Exactly what I like and have learned over the years, is the right combination of traits for me. If you're stressed, in pain or just want a relaxing massage, this is the gal. read more

I should really be focusing on work right now, but I feel compelled to write a review for Mantis Massage. I've been going to the Airport location since almost the beginning, which means I've received dozens upon dozens of massages there. Every single experience has been wonderful. Walking into Mantis Massage feels like I'm walking into home. (Actually, it's way more magical and yummy-smelling than my own home.) I've worked with several of the therapists there and they've all been lovely. You can tell that the owner cultivates a happy work environment. Everything from the decor to the bedding to the curated playlists shows that Mantis Massage cares deeply about the comfort of their customers. I've recommended Mantis Massage for years and I'll keep recommending it. It's a true gem of Austin! P.S. Prices are reasonable too, and they often offer sweet deals. read more

I'm pretty much always in a state of pain, but having come back from a family trip, I especially needed a massage. Kelsey worked on me and I feel like a new person! This is probably the best massage I've ever had and I felt welcome from the moment I walked in. I also suffer from carpal tunnel from playing violin and Kelsey took special care of my shoulders and arms. I played my instrument today and felt no pain which is rare! I'm excited to have found such a great place. Already booked my next appointment! read more

Janita, y'all! I am so sore today, which was my goal, in the best way possible. She got into places that I didn't even know needed attention!! Highly, highly, highly recommend. read more

Sparkles did an amazing job! Great deep tissue massage experience! I highly recommend Mantis.

Lovely calm lobby where I couid have just hung out all day. The massage was delightful and she didn't use too much oil -- which I love.

I've been super stressed from the last few weeks and really needed a breather. Wine was nice but temporary, yoga and working out helped take some of the edge off, but I really needed to get that zen back. At the spur of the moment last Wednesday, I booked a massage at Mantis. Plenty of 5-star reviews here and I've been trying to find an Austin message studio near my office so I can stop by during the work week, so why not. I booked the very last 45 minute appointment at noon on their online scheduling system, nice! The place had a chill Austin vibe to it, something that's been sadly disappearing from this city over the past few years. The colors were peaceful and the staff was friendly. I can't remember who my massage therapist was since I was in such a rush, but I told her that my body was real tense and most of my work involved sitting in front of a computer for long periods of time. She focused a lot of the time on my shoulders, neck, and head, amazing...it was like someone magically lifted these invisible weights off of me. She finished off with some general compressions throughout the rest of my body. I remember feeling like a completely different person after the massage. Clearer thoughts, inner peace, all of that happy stuff. Overall, I'm glad that I took the last minute massage at Mantis, I'll be coming back! read more

What a fantastic place! I made an appointment to help relieve tension in my body after a 20-hour drive and left feeling fantastic. Everybody was very professional and courteous. I will definitely be back. read more

Got a deep tissue massage with Zanni, and it was AMAZING!! The consult sheet is super in depth and i feel like she really cared and focused on the concerns i rose! And the pressure was the way a deep tissue should be done! Cant reccomend it enough! read more

I worked with Amanda and she was super well knowledged and listened to what my needs were. She took her time and was kind and made you feel safe. Not only did she give you a great massage but she created a plan for you afterwards to help you ease your pain. She wrote down what I need from my health insurance in order to get a massage covered. You can tell she genuinely cares and the price was fair. She really got to know my body and what my body needed. I walked out of there feeling so much more refreshed. Cannot recommend enough. read more

A little background before my review of Mantis. In general, my whole right side from my knee to my shoulder has been out of wack for over a year and I've been working with a chiropractor and physical therapist and things have gotten better over the last couple of months. The only issue is that the massage I get from the physical therapist is not at all relaxing, the opposite, in fact. She gets deep into the pain points and I do a lot of active contraction and relaxation of muscles. The results have been great, but at the end of the massage I am exhausted not relaxed. So despite getting a massage every couple of weeks for the last 2 months, I really needed a relaxing massage. I booked a 90 minute massage with Rosalyn and it was great. She has a great instinct for where the tension is and her technique and pressure work well to ease it. I will definitely be back for more. Mantis Massage is a very nice place. It is clean and comfortable and very focused on the massage. It's not a super fancy day spa, they do massages and they do them well. read more

I went just about a week ago and got a deep tissue massage from Julia and it was INCREDIBLE. She did cupping and used Swedish massaging techniques and it left me feeling super refreshed and amazing after. They are being very safe following regulations in regards to COVID. Definitely going back! read more

Just received an excellent massage from Becca - felt all my stress melt away! Can't wait to go back, highly recommend any of the therapists at Mantis! read more

Great massage! I was experiencing some sciatica pain and really needed some relief. Love how the business model works here. I'll be back

I will preface this review with I am a medical massage therapist working in Houston, Tx. My work is very clinical and I work mainly with clients that are under the care of a physical therapist or rehabilitation of some sort. Last night, a friend of mine scheduled me a massage. I have been living at the hospital for a month with my husband who was in a car accident. I haven't worked in a month and I haven't done my usual daily yoga in that time. I was a wreck. I have never had such a good massage in my life. My massage therapist listened to where my pain was, and she completely worked out a body massage plan that was all the same time the most relaxing massage I have ever received and the most technically amazing deep tissue work I have received to date. I have received great work on both ends, but never has a therapist put so much effort and care into both. To be able to do both at the same time is a talent that I have never experienced and it has given me a goal to work for in future massages for my own clients. I can not give a higher rating to the staff and the work done at Mantis Massage, truly if you need a massage, this is the place to go. read more

Mantises give great massages. I've only been once but was really happy with my massage, and was also super relieved my mantis/masseuse added an extra couple of minutes to account for my running late. It's also super easy to book online. read more

Had a 60 minute massage with Rosalyn at the Airport Blvd. location and it was fabulous!!!!!!!!!! Would highly recommend!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is my happy place! I'm a terrible client who never schedules regular maintenance massages and waits until I'm in significant pain to book one. As a result, I usually just book with whoever I can get in to see the quickest. I've had massages from quite a few of the therapists at Mantis and they've all been superb! Very professional & always therapeutic. If you're looking for a relaxing massage in a spa environment, you'll probably be pretty disappointed. While I do feel relaxed getting a massage here, it's definitely *deep* tissue that they excel in. The space is really nice, clean, & cozy, but it's definitely not a spa. However, if you're looking for therapeutic massage that will really relieve tension & pain, this place is the best in Austin! read more

Mantis makes it easy to book an appointment. Every massage therapist I've seen here as been really great. Get there a few minutes early so that you enough time to chat with them about what areas you would like them to focus on and what kind of pressure. I like that they ask you questions and listen to your concerns. They also provide some tips after your session to help you in between appointments. All of the rooms are quiet and calming. They offer specials every now and then so sign up for the promo emails. They won't inundate you emails either. read more

This place is delightful. It has a super inviting & calm atmosphere with warm & friendly staff. Becca is simply the best massage therapist I've ever been to! read more

Need to re-iterate how great this place is! Now they have two locations. I feel like it's one of Austin's best kept secrets! I live in the neighborhood and that's how I initially found out about it, searching for a spa close by for a massage. I have really bad shoulder pain that's usually where I carry my stress, I've had many massages before to try to relive it, but this is better than going to a chiropractor! Often times massages will temporarily relive my stress, my shoulders always feel pain free for months after. I've been going about every 3 months that's how long it takes away my pain. They're well priced (cheaper than milk and honey or viva), I've been to all three and non compare to the quality at mantis. I love when you walk in its modern and homey, (adult coloring books in the waiting room even)! Booking online is a breeze- do yourself a favor and "treat yo' self" with a massage from Mantis! My only complaint was not finding it sooner! read more

My first ever massage and it was just what I needed. Sparkles was kind and warm, walked me through everything ahead of time and talked about areas I was looking for relief from. I'll definitely be back. Love the aftercare email as well :) read more

Got a prenatal massage at the recommendation of a friend. Sparkles, my massage therapist, was amazing. She made me feel so comfortable and it was a great experience all around (not to mention an incredible massage). Wish I would've started it sooner in my pregnancy! Highly recommend. read more

I've been having trouble with my right shoulder, and nothing else had really helped, so I decided to give massage a try. After checking out some places on Yelp, I decided that Mantis was going to be my jam. Mostly, I liked Kyra's no-frills attitude about treatment and therapy. I don't need a coffee scrub; I need my shoulder to not hurt. She and I are in agreement on that point. I called to schedule my appointment (though you can do it online) because I had some questions and wanted to get someone who specialized in what I needed. Lindsay answered all my questions, assured that any one of their therapists would do a great job, but said that Kelsey would be awesome and had the availability I needed. She sent me an appointment confirmation and encouraged me to stay hydrated. Showed up for my appointment, and Kelsey sat me down, asked what I needed, knowledgeably explained what she was going to do, and then did it. I told her to beat the shit out of me if that's what was needed, and she did not disappoint. I asked for deep tissue with high pressure, and she did a great job. She checked in on me from time to time make sure the pressure was appropriate. Two hours later, I was not ready for it to end, but it did. She gave me a lot of pointers on staying hydrated, taking in vitamin C, and how to stretch some of the muscles we had discussed. The price was great too. My shoulder is well on its way to recovery now, and I can't wait to go back in. read more

I was gifted a 90 minute massage and was recommended to Luci. I was a little apprehensive, having never been treated to something like this. Wasn't too familiar with protocol, but Luci put me at ease with a warm greeting and cheerful attitude. The facility was nice and had a great atmosphere. I had kind of bulky beats studio wireless headphones on for the first part, which was fine, but I would recommend small ones if you wanna keep them on throughout. There is also a little system in the room that you can put to anything you like. The massage itself was fantastic. Anyone can give a backrub, but she took it to an entirely new level I didn't even know about. I relished every minute. As I was laying there, the image of a huge asteroid burning up through the atmosphere on its way to earth all in slow motion came to me; I would say that's what the massage felt like. To be brutally honest, I'm a big dude with a hairy back and I didn't feel she held back at all. There is a clock in the room, so I know it took 90 minutes, but it flew by! Half way through I felt like I had been sedated and as I left I felt like a clay figure melting in the sun. I had to sit in my car for a few minutes just to muster the will to drive. I would definitely recommend Mantis Massage and Luci to anyone. Great experience read more

Not like they need anymore rave reviews, but here it goes anyway! Tonight was my first time to Mantis. I only get a handful of massages every year (student budget #amirite?), and about 1/2 are full-price, while about 1/2 are Groupon massage deals (see student budget comment supra). Given that it is finals time and law school exams mostly make me feel like weeping--or eating 7 pints of Jeni's $12 ice cream--I thought, "Oh, what a perfect occasion to splurge." Seeing all the tremendous Yelp! reviews, I knew Mantis was going to be my treat. I had an appointment at the exact time I wanted within minutes. The online booking system for massages is what dreams are made of. Seriously. Came in and was immediately in love. The space itself is just oozing with perfection. So cute and clean and quaint and just... feels local... feels Austin... My "therapist" was Ash. She was the sweetest from the second I entered until I left. The massage itself was wonderful. Top 3 favorites ever. Again, I'm not like Donald Trump getting massages every week and I only go for relaxation reasons rather than "health problem" issues, so take my enthusiasm with a grain of salt if you'd like... but I'm an honest lady. *~RANDOM~* but, the music she had playing in her room just like........ made me the happiest. I almost sprung off the table about 5 times to grab my phone and Shazam some songs for later. Things like this are the small things that really, really count. If I ever hear cliche weird sounds or beats or gross things coming from a Songza/Pandora station during a massage again after hearing Ash's jams, I will be thoroughly dissatisfied. Another small thing that made me happy: she checked in about 3 times to make sure her pressure was good for me and nothing more. For some reason, the last massage I had, the lady wanted to talk about her entire life to me the entire time. Shhh lady. Ash made the perfect amount of conversation before the appointment began, during it, and after it. Yay Ash, you win. THENNNNNN to just put a giant red delicious cherry on top of it all, at the end of the entire thing Ash told me she was "new" and still completing her "training" at Mantis--never would've known... I was like "Whaaa?!"--so I got $10 off. Without asking or being prompted to book with her this way or anything. So nice. So lovely. Oh, and they have personally accessible water AND TEA available in the waiting area to just make things even better. I will be back. read more

Monica is a life saver. I pulled a muscle in my lower back while weight training about a year ago. It never felt right after that injury, and it stopped me from working out ever since. I'm trying to get back in shape, but there was no way I was going to be able to exercise with this chronic pain. I saw Monica a few weeks ago, and for the first time in a year I was completely pain free! I also had a pain in my lower right ab area that had been bugging me for over a decade, and no doctor could figure it out (even with an MRI!!), but Monica immediately identified it as a ratcheted down psoas muscle. She did some work on it (hurt so good) and afterward I felt zero discomfort. I was almost in tears as I had forgotten what a completely pain free body felt like. She instructed me on some stretches I could do to help lengthen and loosen up that chronically tight psoas muscle. You better believe I'll be back to see her on the journey to getting this thing completely healed. Aside from Monica being awesome, the offices and massage rooms themselves were very clean, minimalist design, with comfortable with soothing light schemes. Everyone there was extremely professional, and made me feel at home. read more
