Beef Bulgogi Fried Rice

I used to LOVE this place. Unfortunately it's gone downhill. The beef bulgogi fried rice used to have actual chunks of meat now it's microscopic. When I asked the lady, she told me to order the bulgogi plate, when I know it used to have wayyyy more meat when I came even three months ago. Like pls I can't even see any meat in the photo if you are vegetarian this place would be good! If not, maybe go somewhere else.

The staff is super friendly and I loved seeing images of the food on the menu or around the restaurant before ordering. Quick service and the food was really good. Will definitely be back again!!

I came here on 8/27/26. I got the spam kimbap and spicy naengmyun. As a Korean, the food is average. The kimbap filling was sufficient, but the rice was overcooked and mushy. The naengmyun noodles were cooked perfectly though and the spiciness was just right. Note to manager/owner: I wish I could take my tip back. I tipped because I was eating inside but the staff is just on her phone and doesn't offer utensils, tell me where it is, or offer to take my tray. Train your staff to provide better service! They can't just spin the screen around and expect a tip but not offer good customer service. Other restaurants at the UV have staff who are attentive and provide great service, learn from them.

Beef Soondobu with combo of dumplings and Korean drink

Great spot if you are craving Korean food! It is a small restaurant inside a university plaza that offers some indoor and outdoor seating. They have a decent menu to offer from kimbap, tteokbokki, cold noodles, and bibambap. Prices are okay. Their kimchi fried rice is really good, but this time I got to try their soondobu. To me, the portion for the soup is big and it comes with rice and pickled radish. However, if you are expecting side dishes like the tofu house then they don't offer it. I did get some dumplings and a korean drink to go with it and it went well together. Service was okay. They have a machine for self-ordering and self serve on utensils so not much interaction with the staff. But when I did speak with them, they were nice. Overall, this place is great to get your korean food cravings covered.

I stopped by this spot for the first time with some coworkers for a late night snack and we loved it SO much!! All of the food was really really delicious and flavorful!! I got the bulgogi fries and it was the perfect amount of cheese and meat. AND the slight sweetness of the bulgogi mixed with the fries and cheese offered a flavor I'd never really had before -- but one will definitely be going back for. There was a decent amount of room to sit inside and hang out as well, giving it a nice cozy vibe! The service was also really fast! I believe there were about 2-3 orders ahead of us and our food still came out in less than five minutes -- very efficient! I will definitely be telling everyone about this place and I certainly can't wait to come back!!

Came here with my little amy, we got the beef bulgogi fried rice and the Naengmyun (Cold). I really enjoyed the naengmyun since it was really refreshing, I just wish there was maybe another egg because it can get kind of boring. Maybe some protein or something else can go with it, but that is just my opinion. The Bulgogi fried rice was pretty flavorful, similar to the naengmyun there needs to be more beef. The ratio from beef to rice was off and you didn't really get a bite of beef with every piece of rice. presentation was good though and so was service, there was a new staff worker working, who was very kind and respectful. The ambience of the restaurant was nice as well. It was very clean and pretty chill.

We were at UCR for a couple of days and stopped by here to grab some lunch. Everything was great for a quick lunch. You order on a screen, and they present you with the food when it's ready, so very minimal human interaction. The katsu curry and the kimchi fried rice were delicious. I definitely recommend this place for a quick grab and go.

Absolutely love this family owned business, everything we ordered was freshly cooked. We ordered bulgogi fried rice, bulgogi and steamed rice and a bulgogi roll. All were delicious! We will be back!

Don't overlook this small eatery at the very end of business in the back of University village. Initially we came to the village to eat something else BUT due to that business opening up at 11:30 and this one opening up at 11 we ended up here- no regrets. Now I'm a newbie to Asian cuisine but luckily I was with two friends that are quite the professionals. I ordered the bulgogi fries (safe option for me) while they ordered the Kayak curry and the Sundubu. Bulgogi fries - 5 outta 5! The meat is thin stripped and sweet. No grisel or burnt pieces. The fries are crisp and the long skinny kind so they get a ton of toppings covering them. The melted cheese did not taste like nacho cheese , it was subtly and complemented the meat. 100% kids and adults will love this. Katsu curry - large portion of rice and cabbage to compliment the curry. The chicken was on the smaller side but crispy on the outside and moist on inside. There was no potatoes, peas, or carrots in the dish we got - maybe that was an option in the touch screen ordering device they had? It shows in other people's pictures.....anyways ours did not have it and that made for some sad curry. Flavor was good though and we used some fries to dip in it. Shundubu - We ordered this spicy and oooohhgg man it sure was. The dumplings were delicious and the tofu can in clumps that reminded me of scrambled eggs rather than traditionally square tofu - but it worked because it tasted like it really soaked in the broth/flavor. There were some chopped white onions inside the broth and green onions on the top. Not much interaction with employees, not even a hello when you walk in. They have a computer screen you order from, and then after the food is made the employee will call your number for pick up. The computer asks if you want to tip....I guess that is up to you the consumer for that level of interaction.

Hubby was craving katsu curry so we came here. Service was quick! The Bulgogi fries were definitely my favorite. The cheese pull was insane & the bulgogi itself was very flavorful. The fries were seasoned and I'll definitely be back for that.

Manna Grill is conveniently located in University Village, catering primarily to UCR students, and is just a short walk from campus. I visited around 11am, right after they opened, and was the first guest since it's summer and the student crowd is sparse. The interior is welcoming and freshly redecorated, with painted walls and framed artwork featuring Korean dishes throughout the space. Ordering is done at the counter. I tried the spicy squid plate (regular: $14.99), which came with rice and salad. The dish was flavorful, with perfectly stir-fried squid, onions, julienne carrots, cabbage, and green onions, all seasoned with Doenjang. It was a bit oily but not overly sweet, which I appreciated. I also ordered the chicken Katsu (regular: $14.99), which also came with rice and salad. The chicken was thin, soft, and had a nice crispy breading. However, the curry sauce was overly sweet and lacked the tanginess I was expecting. The same sauce was used for the shredded cabbage salad, which didn't work for me either. The water from the vending machine was cold but had a chlorine taste. It would be great if they could offer filtered water, maybe with a refreshing touch of cucumber or citrus. Overall, prices are on the medium to higher side, especially for a student-heavy area. Some variety in the sides beyond just rice and salad would be a nice improvement. Despite this, it's a good, convenient option close to campus.

As of now (August 2024): Monday: 11:30 AM – 8:00 PM Tuesday: 11:30 AM – 8:00 PM…

What's the difference between the 13.99 Manna Tteokbboki and 15.99 Tteokbboki?

Currently (August 2024), they are offering Manna Tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes with fish cakes, ramen, dumplings, and eggs) for $13.99. Adding mozzarella costs an additional $2.49

Is this place still open? For a while it kept saying closed. I call often and there is never anyone picking up.

Hi Madelyn, this place is temporarily closed. We're hoping it won't be permanent.

Does anyone know if this place is closed indefinitely?

They're open for takeout!!

Do they have kimchi?

Of course!

The banchan was delicious and had a nice variety, including radish stem kimchi, cucumber kimchi, fish cakes, soybean paste with nuts, fried eggplant, and more. Everything tasted fresh and well made. We started with the fried dumplings, which were crispy on the outside and filled with really tasty filling. The soybean stew was packed with flavor and had potatoes, onions, and zucchini--super comforting. The short ribs were juicy and flavorful, especially with a side of rice. The pork cutlet was perfectly crispy, and the dipping sauce added just the right touch of sweetness. Even the salad was good, with a dressing that wasn't too overpowering. They serve hot barley tea and water, and you can buy canned soft drinks if you want something else. Everything we had was delicious--honestly, there wasn't anything I didn't like. Prices were fair, and the customer service was great. Our waitress checked on us several times to make sure we were good and even showed us how to make rice porridge using the hot barley tea and the crispy rice at the bottom of the pot, which ended up being really good too. The inside of the restaurant is very clean, well-lit, and has lots of natural color (tans, brown). It appears to have been recently remodeled. There is plenty of seating and open space. This restaurant is great for groups of all sizes. We'll definitely be back to try more items.

Don't want to be sweating while you're eating. Coming from highland/redlands, I am happy that there is a ayce kbbq spot in close proximity. Starting with cons: the parking is absolutely terrible. Parking spots are cramped and there's simple not enough spaces, especially during peak times. Pros: now as a long time ayce bbq lover, I understand that red castle quality is not top tier and I don't expect it to be when I go. I view red castle as an affordable joint to get my brisket and beef belly fix, which are the only two items that I basically get. It's odd reading about others experience with service, because every time I go, the service is always fast. I don't need to ask for the grill change because they are fully staffed and consistently checking in. Sure, the hospitality could improve a little but realize what you're going in there for. To stuff ya face! If you're coming here and comparing this place to other kbbq joints, you'll surely be let down. But to enjoy ayce protein for ~25 bucks without having to clean and prep a solid meal, many would realize the true gem that is Red Castle. I remember when their ayce was 13-15 bucks when they opened. Those were the days. I'm also glad that they allow single dining during the week. Not something that I'm able to take advantage of most of the time bc of work but I'm glad it's offered. To all the kbbq snobs (I'm one of them still). Go pay 40 for ayce somewhere else and be happy. Red castle is my go to for a quick fix that is close to home and affordable.

It wasn't even busy, yet it was taking 10-15 minutes just to get basic things like a drink or napkins. Our waitress also kept forgetting things we asked for, so we had to keep asking again. What's also disappointing is how much they seem to be pushing all the extra stuff now: take-home sauces, snacks, etc. It feels like they're more focused on selling you something else than just providing a solid Korean BBQ experience. I can overlook slow service when the food is worth it, but the quality here wasn't good enough to make up for everything else.
