    Mango sticky rice

I would not go if I had to wait an hour but it is still delicioussss Thai food. I would 10/10 go back for the crab fried rice, papaya salad, and mango sticky rice Drunken noodle - can go with or without Hainan chicken rice - skip it. It's flavorless and dry. Rice was ok.

Heard a lot of great things about Manaao, so of course we had to try it when we were in Tustin. Came slightly before they opened, so there was no issues getting seating/spot without a wait. Parking lot isn't huge - so if you want to avoid the hassle, come early and you won't have any issues with parking or waiting for a table. -Grilled Giant River Prawn ($15) - Great photo, great sauce that it came with. Prawn itself was just alright, I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it. Probably wouldn't order this again -Crab Fried Rice ($24) - Loved this dish, probably the best crab fried rice I've had anywhere. Only complaint is there were numerous crab shells that I found while eating which was not pleasant - but hey, at least they use legit crab -Drunken Noodle ($22) - This was disappointing - I was expecting ...more wok hei and it just wasn't there. The dish itself wasn't bad, but it was a bit lackluster. Wish we opted for a curry dish instead. Overall, the food was good. Worth a visit, not sure I would wait hours to eat here however.

Been wanting to try this place for a while now but the wait is always so long! We waited about 1 hour to be seated and the servers were very attentive and recommended some really great stuff! We got the shrimp roll, pad Thai and the khao soi! Shrimp roll (5/5): crispy and shrimp is very big! My favorite with the crispy noodles at the bottom. So sad I didn't take a pic! Pad Thai (5/5): wow this was GOOD! It was a bit less colored than any pad Thai place I've been but it's packed with flavor! Sour and tasty! Khao soi (4/5): i wish this dish has more flavor since it was a bit bland to me. Chicken was deboned which is very nice!

Wow this place is delicious! I came here on the recommendation of a friend who had nothing but positive things to say about this place. It's certainly popular and was packed as I arrived on a Friday night at 8pm. As a table of 2 we waited around 15 minutes which wasn't too bad. I ordered the fried catfish with curry and the khao soi noodles. Both dishes had curry and were similar. The curry flavors were on point and incredibly tasty. I asked for less spicy and it wasn't too bad for someone who can barely handle spice. The fish was perfectly crispy and moist. I also enjoyed the khao soi. Would definitely come back the next time I'm in the area!

We came in around 12:30 on a Sunday and got there right in time as the line got long after we arrived. Parking is limited in the lot and appears some people park on the street. We were greeted warmly upon getting seated. The restaurant is spacious and has a casual, fun, modern vibe. We ordered: -Yum salad with ribeye 3/5: flavors were bright and fresh but the meat was tough and lean to be ribeye, more like sirloin. -chu chee curry with catfish filet 5/5: comforting with the perfect level of spice. Fish was battered just enough to stay crispy with the curry. -dry boat noodle with dino rib 4/5. The sauce was a lil sweet and very tamarind heavy on the noodles which made it standout. Noodle to meat ratio was off, for all that short rib there were only a few bites of noodles, not nearly enough. Boat noodle broth on the side was also delicious. Their menu is extensive and we're looking forward to trying more of their dishes.

I can't say enough good things about Manaao. Whenever friends are in town, this is one of the first places I bring them. In my opinion, it's the best Thai food in Southern California. It's absolutely worth the wait, so if you're nearby, join the Yelp waitlist before you head over. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff does a great job managing the wait. We visited at 7:00 p.m. on a Thursday with a party of five and were seated fairly quickly. What we ordered: Chu Chee Curry with Fried Catfish Fillet - 10/10 My favorite dish and a must-order every visit. The catfish is perfectly crispy and flaky, and the rich curry pairs incredibly well with the rice. Crying Tiger - 10/10 Cooked to a perfect medium rare with great flavor. A must if you're a beef lover. Pork Jowl - 10/10 My first time trying it here, and it instantly became a new favorite. The dipping sauce takes this dish to another level. Beef Pad See Ew - 8/10 A solid, well-executed Pad See Ew. Nothing flashy, but still very flavorful. Fried Chicken Wings with Holy Basil Sauce - 10/10 Another first for me, and they were outstanding. The holy basil sauce is addictive and pairs well with just about everything on the table. Crab Fried Rice - 7/10 Good, but it was overshadowed by the other dishes. I expected a little more compared to everything else we ordered. Overall, I'm so happy to have such an incredible Thai restaurant so close to home. I'm also excited for their second location, which is expected to open at Irvine Spectrum soon.

Dishes were delicious. We actually ordered a total of 4 dishes and shared it between 4 people and it was still enough. We had a little bit leftover to take home. The papaya salad was nice and crunchy and perfect for a summery hot day. The soft shell crab was spicy but tasty. Perfect crunch and easy to eat. The pad see ew was flavorful and the vegetables were the perfect bite size pieces. We did have to get on the waitlist which was easy to do via yelp. Just make sure your whole party is there beforehand. The hostess was a little rude to us when we were first checking in and rude about telling us that we needed the whole party present. But we did not let her take away from our experience. It was slightly loud but the restaurant was also very busy and packed for the dinner rush, so understandable. The food was overall great and the waitress was nice and accommodating.

I've constantly heard good things about this place and finally was able to check it out. The wait was about an hour long, but thankfully we were able to sign up on Yelp and drove once we got to the top of the waitlist. The interior of this place is modern. They definitely go for an elevated look. However, the food was disappointing and caters to a more general audience. I've been to Thailand, Thai restaurants including the ones in LA Thai Town and a couple local Thai template markets. This place definitely fall shorts. Khao soi with braised beef - it was highly recommended on Yelp. The broth was good but nothing amazing. If you go to Chiang Mai, it's typically eaten with chicken, but I wanted to try it with beef. Although the meat is tender, the beef and khao soi is not a good pairing. Chicken will usually bring out the broth flavor, while the beef and broth were competing with each other. I also wished they had more pickled mustard green to balance out the dish. Boat noodle - not bad, but not amazing. It was on the sweeter side and I was expecting it to have a nice kick with some texture to it. It had more of a smooth broth, but I prefer a slightly more gritty texture and with dry chili pepper. My friends ordered the chicken skewers (they liked this the most), pad see ew with crispy pork belly and the basil dish. I tried a bit of the crispy pork belly and it tasted like it was out the whole day, not crispy at all. Sadly I will not be coming back and will not be bringing my friends here. I left slightly embarrassed that I recommended this place to my out of town friends.

My best friend and I came to Manaao on a Monday evening right after work. Parking was easy since there's plenty of space in the plaza. Even though we arrived around 5:15 on a weekday, the restaurant was already pretty busy! We waited about 10 minutes before getting seated. From the outside, the restaurant looks fairly small, but it's surprisingly spacious inside with plenty of seating. I ordered the chu chee curry purely because the picture of the fried catfish filet looked too good to pass up and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The catfish was perfectly crispy, and the coconut-based curry was rich, creamy, and so flavorful. Easily one of my favorite curries I've had in a while. My friend ordered the crying tiger, which was delicious as well. The dipping sauce paired perfectly with the beef. For drinks, she got the Thai tea, which wasn't overly sweet, and I tried the mango beer, which was absolutely delectable. Overall, an amazing dinner with great food, generous portions, and a lively atmosphere. I'd absolutely recommend Manaao and will definitely be back!

Big bold favors Everything we had was great except the prawns, it's kind of sad and limpy you know it's bad when you are a seafood lover But other dishes were great with many dimensions and depth of favors. My palate was having a party Love the interesting beer the smell was great and refreshing

I've long desired to dine here at Manaao; we decided to chance it on a weekday afternoon. Checking in on Yelp is so convenient and efficient! While I'm not a regular beer drinker, I was intrigued when I saw Mango Sticky Rice Beer ($10) -- I enjoyed it! Our first visit consisted of the following: - Drunken Noodle (with beef), $19: tasty broad rice noodles with tender slices of beef, in a flavorful sauce; - Holy Basil and Chili (with ground pork), $19: served with a generous mound of steamed rice, topped with a perfectly fried egg; - Sweet Roti, $8: theirs is uniquely dusted with a Chocolate Malt Powder -- delicious finale! The entire staff -- working as a team -- was friendly, attentive, and efficient. Fabulous experience; we're eager to return to experience many more of their menu items!

I came here for lunch at 11am on Monday. Parking was easy and we were seated right away. We ordered the Khao Soi Noodles with chicken. It was flavorful and tasty. The only thing I didn't care for was the crispy noodles. 5/5 stars The Thai crab cake rolls came with 4 pieces. It's big and hearty. It's good but not very special. I'd give it 3/5 stars. The creamy tom yum soup was full of flavor. Mild spice was pretty mild. We didn't know it came with noodles so by the time we scooped some, it got soggy so that was annoying. I would have preferred more broth and omitted the noodles. It was tasty otherwise. 4/5 noodles. It's clean and modern and most importantly authentic. I would definitely recommend it!

We came around 1pm on a Monday. The parking lot is small but there is street side parking. The wait was around 10 minutes for walk in. We were seated and the plates and utensils were nice. I like the bowls that had finger indents. The bathroom is noice, cute wallpaper. Cal soft shell crab- very delicious! The curry was creamy and full of flavor. With the soft shell crabs they were generous! Pork basil rice- The pork had just the right amount of saltiness and the fried egg was good! The rice was extra good mixed with the sauce/curry from the cal soft shell crabs. Coconut mochi with ice cream- the mochi (rice ball) has great texture. The ice cream is a little tough but carries the dish (makes it a thick dessert). The coconut shavings adds to the texture. Could be colder. Overall a good dessert. We had a great meal and would definitely go again!

    Ask the Community - Manaao

    Is there halal food?

Our apologies, we don’t have halal offerings.

Noticed the Fried Chicken Wings (Gai Tod) are no longer gluten free. Will the gai tod be gluten free again?

Hi Trevor! Great question- we’ve recently had to rework our gluten free items as we’ve realized the risk for cross contamination on fried items (despite having separate fryers) is just too high. At this time we don’t anticipate them coming back, but…

Is the KHAO SOI NOODLE vegetarian?

    No, it is not.

Can we bring a birthday cake into the restaurant?

Birthday cake is welcome but no other outside desserts.

Do you take reservations for 12 people?

We don’t take reservations, but we’re happy to accommodate a party of 12. Please email hello@eatmanaao.com so we can help guide you.

Can we bring our own wine?

    Sure! Our corkage is $20

    Do you have takeout?

Yes, it’s available via our website or on a walk-in basis during operating hours.

Do you have any lunch specials or combination plates?

No, but we are family-style so our dishes are perfect for sharing amongst a few people, making it easy to try a few things.

Are people able to make a reservation ahead of time?

No. But you can use Yelp to get on the wait-list.

Does the waitlist open again during your second service hours?

Yes, it is closed mid day while we are on break and the dinner list is separate from the lunch time list.

If the waitlist is closed on yelp can I still come in person to join the waitlist ? Or does it mean we just can't get it today? Thanks!

Hi! If the waitlist is closed it means we’re at capacity and won’t be able to serve any more than the guests on the list before the end of business. There is a chance we may…

Hello! Do you offer chicken options with the curries and noodles? On the menu I only see beef/pork/shrimp/tofu for the noodles and many of the curries.

Dishes that have chicken as an option are marked on the menu as such. We do not offer chicken on dishes such as pad thai or curries.

Where can we sign up for the waitlist?

We use the waitlist tool within Yelp. The waitlist opens once we have begun service and all in-person waiting tables have been seated, and we close the list once it exceeds our ability to serve tables before closing time.

It seems that your vegan options are only desserts according your online menu?

Hi Debbie! We're proud to offer a selection of dishes that can be made vegan upon request. Our print menu denotes these dishes with a green leaf- it includes drunken noodles, holy basil and chili, stir-fried Chinese broccoli, stir-fried morning…

I'm vegetarian, do you guys able to modify the pad see ew to without shrimp or beef?

Hi Chloe! We can substitute tofu for many dishes, including our Pad See Ew! Just let your server know and they’ll help you. Please do note that it may change the consistency of some dishes (as tofu does contain a good amount of moisture).

Do you offer gluten free and accommodate nut and sesame allergies?

Fish sauce is in a large number of our dishes, so the chance for cross-contamination is possible, however, we're happy to offer quite a few gluten-free options (listed on our menu). We do use nuts and sesame in our kitchen, so the risk for…

Is this the same owner as the Manao in Long Beach on broadway?

No, we are different owners and companies.

Will you be offering more vegetarian/vegan options on your menu such as tofu protein options in the future?

The menu is a soft opening menu. The full menu should be available soon.

We stopped by for lunch and ordered a pad see ew, a green Thai curry lunch special and a crab lump fried rice. My daughter always orders pad see ew, that's the one dish she gets every single time. The presentation was beautiful. At first bite she dropped her fork and said "omg, mommy this is so good. It's the best!" My green curry was flavorful. I ordered it with pork. I thought they could've given a little more white rice but it does come with two egg rolls and a salad. All for $13.50! The crab fried was perfectly seasoned with a hint of sweetness. The rice wasn't mushy or anything. Just perfectly done. I thought the quality of the crab could be better, it was shredded in texture and tasted watered down. Maybe next time I'll just settle for the claw which is a little cheaper. All in one, it was a very good meal. We all enjoyed it very much!

Bottom line folks is Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The service was friendly and attentive, and the restaurant had a welcoming atmosphere that made us want to stay and enjoy every bite. can't wait to come back!

Wanted to show our support for Belacan Grill while they're still in Tustin. Been actually craving…read moresome of their dishes so glad we finally got to come by last Thursday. I've been a big fan ever since they opened in 2007ish, when I still lived in Irvine and started a Foodie Group at Columbus Grove. Belacan Grill is family-owned and the owner is the chef so the quality has not changed at all. The dishes I was craving: Calamari, Daging Kecap Manis (tender beef in sweet and spicy dark soy glaze) and the Belacan Fried Rice. Everything was as good as I remember. I was told their last week is end of August and moving to Orange (just 2 miles away) on Chapman and Yorba.

We did have enough time to order and get our food out in a good time frame. Below are my ratings, would come back again as so far have not had a bad meal here. They are moving to Orange though so look out for when they move. The service was good and attentive. Mamak Mee Goreng - ordered but no pictures. 4/5 Nasi Goreng (fried rice with Shrimp) - 5/5 Clay Seafood Tofu Curry - 5/5 Chicken Wings - 5/5 Daging Kecap Manis - 4/5

We got the combination fried rice, pad thai with crispy pork, pineapple curry with chicken. Combination Fried Rice- The rice had a nice garlicky taste and it was loaded with pork, beef, chicken, and shrimp. Perfectly seasoned too. Pad Thai with Crispy Pork- The noodles were soft and chewy and the sauce was a lovely combination of sweet and tangy. The crispy pork added a later of texture and flavor. Pineapple Curry with Chicken- The curry was bursting with flavor! The pineapple chunks added a burst of sweetness and freshness to every bite. The chicken was nice and tender. Great meal overall!

Everything we ordered was packed with flavor and clearly made with care. The spices, freshness, and balance in the dishes were spot on. Each bite was satisfying and full of that bold, crave-worthy Thai taste. While the curry wasn't my personal favorite (the veggies were a bit undercooked for my taste), everything else more than made up for it. From the appetizers to the stir fry, everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. Service was friendly and quick, and the owner/chef is always welcoming. Highly recommend this place for anyone who loves Thai food. You can really taste the quality and heart in every dish!

Their wontons…read moreare honestly better than Din Tai Fung and Paradise Dynasty, and I say that as an OG fan of both, especially after living in the Irvine area. Their xiao long bao is also really good and definitely comparable to Din Tai Fung and Paradise Dynasty. Everything tasted incredibly fresh, and the dumplings and wontons were so moist and flavorful. The beef roll is a MUST. Unlike some places where it can be dry, theirs had the perfect amount of sauce and was so good. Also get the lava egg yolk steamed buns. So soft, moist, fresh, and delicious. But surprisingly, one of the biggest standouts was their drinks. They use real tea, and their taro milk tea completely changed my mind about taro drinks. Fresh taro mixed with real tea, perfectly balanced, and not overly sweet. I would literally come here just for the drinks. If you love boba, you need to try them. Just be prepared to wait because this place gets BUSY. Lunchtime was packed, and we came around 3 PM and were lucky to get a spot. Everything was so satisfying without feeling overly heavy afterward. Definitely one of my new favorite finds and a place I'll be coming back to again and again.
