Friendly service and a beautiful dining room with food that was just as delicious as it was beautifully presented.

My husband and I had some friends visiting from NY this past weekend and we wanted to show them the best of the city, and this was an obvious choice. Coming from a major food city like NYC, expectations are always high and Mamou OVERDELIVERED! The wine selection was amazing and the dishes unique. Everything tasted great. We all got different dishes including the Drum, risotto and pork as our mains. We shared the braised celery hearts, Maison salad and carpaccio as our starters. The bread service, albeit simple was so good we ordered 2: one just for sopping up the celery braising liquid. I personally ordered the pork and it was cooked perfectly, which is hard for most places to execute. It was tender but still a filet cut that held its shape. Service was top notch with the sommelier and servers checking on us throughout and offering great recommendations. The great food, company paired with the beautiful, eclectic atmosphere made it a night to remember (& hopefully repeat).

I haven't been so happy with a dinner in a long long time. Everything from the service to the food exceeded my expectations and I would go out of my way to come here again. The fish was so perfectly cooked, flavored and was the perfect size. I also had the Madeline's for dessert & thought they didn't need the extra sugar that they're topped with, since they're always sweet on their own AND you're drowning them in crème anglaise, but what do I know. Would die to have a meal here again ASAP

We had dinner here as a delayed Valentines date and the ambience and vibe were the perfect setting. The restaurant is small and quaint but doesn't feel cramped. You'll want to have a reservation. I also loved the decor. The sausage appetizer was like an elevated German bratwurst and was very good. Our cocktails felt expertly crafted, and I would go back to the bar just for drinks. Our mains were the risotto and the redfish. Our waitress recommended pairing the two and she was spot on. We were impressed with the portions and the food was delicious. I can't wait to go back and try more things.

We had such a lovely time! Every dish was an experience and truly delicious. The place was small, but styled really well. Excited to go back!

My family and I really enjoyed our dinner at Mamou a few months ago. I had done some research prior to our trip to New Orleans and Mamou was on the list of go-to restaurants. Definitely need to make reservations since the place is not too big and it's definitely quite popular. We were greeted very warmly by the staff and seated shortly. I definitely loved the fresh flowers in the folded napkins as a classy touch. My little one enjoyed the flowers as well. We started with some cocktails. My hubby got the La Vie en Rouge which was delicious! The drink had a complex mix and depth of flavors. The base was tequila with a mixture of beet juice, lime and egg whites. I got a Praline old Fashioned. The Praline was delicious and was a perfect balance with the old fashioned. We got the celery hearts with smoked beef tongue for appetizer. This was amazing and delicious. The flavors were well balanced with the acidity of the tomato base in the sauce and the tongue had perfect cook and bite to it. Overall a winner! For the entree my hubby and I shared the risotto which was topped with large shrimp and some pickled radishes. The shrimp was cooked to perfection with just the right bite. The radishes and greens sprinkled around were delicious and perfect way to cut through the heavy risotto. The risotto is cooked with crab fat and was good and very flavorful but unfortunately too heavy for my palate. We ended up not being able to finish because we were not used to eating such a heavy dish. However it was still good for those who are used to this type of dish. Portions were very large so come with a big appetite or perhaps share entrees if you are interested in trying multiple dishes. Overall had a wonderful evening and great experience. Would definitely recommend on my list of go to in New Orleans!

This was my first time dining here and I couldn't have been more pleased. The food, the cocktails, the ambiance and the staff were absolutely amazing. Such a unique and wonderful experience trying all the dishes. Can't wait to come back and visit gain.

Eat here if you come to NOLA! It blends European and Creole cuisine. The gulf fish was out of this world. Loved my cocktail too- so pretty! The bartender described it as a "margarita that does yoga" and that was exactly correct. The only thing is, even the bar is reservations only. I was lucky enough that they had a seat open I could have and I'm so glad the hostess was kind enough to give it to me! Restaurant is small but really cute, service is great.

Absolute must. The food is great, the service is great, it feels cozy, and it's close to the quarter. So glad I came and looking forward to going back. I ordered the tartare and the steak. It was a meat night. The tartare had so much flavor and loved the presentation. Not gonna lie, the steak was too much for me, but I'm going back with a friend to try again. Please put this place on your list.

Love Love Love MaMou! The food is terrific. My friends from Miami said it was the best meal we had the entire weekend, and we ate at Galatoires and Commanders Palace.....the next week I took my boyfriend and he agrees. Black drum, crab fat risotto, venison sausage, braised celery, butternut squash galette, chou farci....it was all so good! Servers are efficient and very personable. I love New Orleans restaurants, especially MaMou!

One of my very favorite meals in New Orleans- we sat at the bar and had lovely, attentive service with great suggestions that added to our experience Poussin a la florentine was one of the best fish dishes I've had- I'm so picky about my fish so I had doubts but this is unique and overwhelmingly special Ask for suggestions and you won't be disappointed!

Loved it here! A nice intimate restaurant which is definitely off the beaten path of the more touristy parts. When I walked in, I mentioned to the host that I was cold. The woman immediately walked over with a gold shawl to place over my arms. That is the sweetest thing someone has ever done for me in a restaurant! We ordered a delicious bottle of wine out of their fabulous selection, and they even let it decant for us before serving! For appetizers, you must get their bread service. The pretzel bread was to die for. The celery hearts were also a stand out. As a meal I got the shrimp risotto. If I wasn't so full from the apps I would've devoured this dish. This place belongs on your "must-dos" for NOLA. Really nice change of pace, exceptional food, and overly kind staff.

If I could give it 10 stars I would! Service, food and atmosphere is all some of the best we've had in New Orleans!

My wife ordered a steak Frites well well done and half of her portion slices were medium rare. We started with deviled eggs those were tasty I can recommend that and the shrimp cocktail was good enough. The crab salad was bland it needed something else to liven up the flavor a spoon luck of mayo maybe some pepper or salt. Pepper and salt and all the condiments are on the table which I've never a fan of it. The fine dining restaurants think it means they fancy but this food wasn't fancy the place was nice. The Service needs to be retrained. We ate here because we were seeing the old-fashioned Magic show at Eliza Jane next-door and if you wanna come in for some apps or maybe try or the other entrées I didn't find anything. I really wanted to try because I'm not a big fan of French food I guess I should've tried the duck. There may be some good food here, but I won't be back till to find out we were both underwhelmed. Hopefully they fix the problems if somebody else gives a better review, but I cannot. We both agree the french fries were good. Ambience is pretty good with their remodeling so the bathroom was like a 5 to 10 minute wait it's only one person at a time and women kept using the men's room because it's only. So I had to wait two times for women to come out. Single serve bathrooms definitely are not adequate, but they're doing the best they can during remodeling.

She was a bit chatty but still nice. The menu wasn't extensive at all. The waitress did a good job at selling many of the menu options. I initially had the chicken with carrots and brussel sprouts. The vegetables were perfectly cooked and flavored well. The chicken however was very dry. When the waitress asked how it was, I told her how dry it was and she immediately bright me something else, which was the fish and chips. The fish was hot, crispy, and cooked to perfection. It was tender, however it lacked flavor and seasoning. I asked for hot sauce but never received it. I finally decided to ask for a to go box to take the remaining piece home. The chips "fries" were great. They were freshly cut real potato fries. They were hot and seasoned well. My significant other had the shrimp and grits which he thoroughly enjoyed. As an appetizer we had the salad. Seemed simple and basic enough but was actually very good. I'm unsure of the dressing it was tossed in but it was just enough and well flavored. We skipped on dessert. We considered the cookie plate but since nobody could tell us what kind of cookies they were, so we decided to pass. The best part about our dining experience was the ambiance. The music was nice and the decor was vibrant and swanky . I also had a mocktail flavored with pineapple, jalapeno, lime, mint, and cilantro. It was refreshing. I'm glad we had a chance to check it out before closing but I can honestly say there was no "WOW" factor and likely I wouldn't have been in a hurry to come back.

The restaurant had a nice environment and good hospitality. For appetizers, I tried the sizzling jumbo gulf shrimp and char-grilled oysters. Those shrimp were absolutely amazing, the grill added such a great flavor and that garlic butter sauce was drinkable!!! My only complaint was that you only get 4 shrimp that were not jumbo in my eyes, so i'd say this dish was overpriced. While I didn't order the char-grilled oysters I went ahead and tried one. I was hesitant but I was pleasantly surprised, the texture reminded me of a mushroom and the parmesan crust was really good on it. All entrees came with a salad that I wasn't expecting and while the dressing isn't my usual go-to it was really good!!! I couldn't even tell you what it was but it was sweet, garlicky, herbaceous and had a lot of parmesan in it! For my main I ordered the Salmon Lafitte which was grilled salmon with a side of orzo. The salmon had great flavor but was more on the well done side rather than medium well as requested but it was very fresh. The creamy orzo with mushrooms and spinach stole the show. It was delicious and so flavorful, you may need to add salt to it but all the ingredients complemented each other so well and made a very good dish. My sister ordered the Herb Roasted Chicken with Broccolini and Mashed Potatoes which was also a very good dish. The chicken was crispy and seasoned well throughout, again maybe slightly overcooked but the flavor was delicious and the garlic butter sauce that came with it was divine!! For starters, Dr. Vyonne Lewis (yes, a real scientist) refers to herself as a "working owner."…read more That self-effacing description belies the fact that Vyonne's is an expression of culinary and hospitality creativity that comes completely from her heart. This beautiful, relaxing space shares her belief that welcome and activism can work hand in hand to create a unique dining experience. It starts with the entry into this former warehouse, one of the hundreds that give this part of the Crescent City its name. What was once a dark, dank passage is now an inspirational tunnel of light that promises a warm only-at-Vyonne's reception and has become such a focal point that the now-required social media photos of any high quality restaurant experience are (in Vyonne's case) taken there. The tunnel of light opens into the very large courtyard which was the place to be on a sensually warm New Orleans spring evening. Dr. Vyonne gave my companion and I a tour of the restaurant's two levels and while the interior design was French-influenced, her deepest inspiration is women rising throughout the world as so much of the art on Vyonne's walls celebrates women from the culture bearers of the New Orleans to Nobel laureate Maria Corina Machado whose Oslo ceremony Dr. Vyonne attended. Vyonne's makes social, cultural, and political advocacy grown and sexy! We sat inside to be among the decor and decided it was time to partake in the establishment's faire. Drinks commenced with stunningly beautiful cocktails: an espresso martini for her and a strawberry-infused lemon drop for me.. Our server (so sorry I forgot her name but she was absolutely lovely and as convivial as our host) was also our mixologist and our drinks were perfectly proportioned, masterfully blended, and properly chilled. We then opened with the crawfish begniets. Now these are not the traditional begnets drenched in powdered sugar with which one would associate with New Orleans. This was a somewhat denser, more savory pastry that paired well with the crawfish sauce ladled atop. Very flavorful and filling. The begniets paired with the Cheux de Bruxelles: Fried Brussel Sprouts with goat cheese and drizzled with bacon-infused vinegrette. Their being fried actually made Brussel sprouts appealing to me and I can't say no to goat cheese. Another hit for Vyonne's. We proceeded to our respective main courses: for her a pasta dish with Broccoli rabe that just carried so many subtle flavors of grain, vegetable, oils and seasonings but is not currently on the menu. I had the Crevette, les pates, and ecrevisse: Shrimp and Crawfish over fresh pappardelle pasta topped with butter cream sauce, garlic, leeks and finished with aged white cheddar cheese and basil. My eyes were bigger than my stomach and I should have kept it at the appetizers but it was quite a decadent dish on which one should splurge when visiting Vyonne's, and I had promised myself I would take a real swing at the menu. Thankfully I was able to bring the food home with me and it travelled very well even with my having to attend a television taping and held up even better the next morning. Of course, we posed for our own photos in the tunnel. New Orleans is place known for legendary eateries that have operated for decades and even over a century. Commander's , Antoine's, Galatoire's, Muriel's, Herbsaint, August, the list is endless. It's why people come to New Orleans. It will take some time, but I believe Vyonne's can join that list of legendary New Orleans places for which people will hop aircraft to experience. And Dr. Vyonne will be there ready to welcome you as she welcomed me. Vyonne's is where you come as a customer and leave as family. As I cannot wait to return to my spiritual home of New Orleans, I can't wait to visit Dr. Vyonne again and keep working my way through the menu. Go see the doc and she will take great care of you. Vyonne's is a must.

We really wanted to love this place. I think they were having an "off" night. One of our group of…read moresix loved his food while others did not. The main issue was the service. They were very understaffed. It took forever to even take our order and the room upstairs was so loud and not even half full. We asked to move downstairs where it was quieter and that helped. We could tell this annoyed the server and I heard her say, "We have a difficult table." We were not being difficult. We just wanted a better experience for the money we were paying. The onion soup was good but took a long time to get. My salad with shrimp was pretty boring. One of my colleagues absolutely loved his fish dish. He said it was the best he had ever had. Two colleagues had the pork chop but found it way too rare. We did like the appetizers. After eating just some of our main dishes, we were ready to leave but it took a long time to get the check. By the time we walked out the door we left frustrated.
