For the price, I would skip this restaurant. Visit Antoine's instead. Owned by the same family, both restaurants are pricey but offer different themes. Palace Cafe is pricey and the food is just okay. The service also left a lot to be desired because our water cups were left empty even after I requested more water, and our alcohol drinks were also left empty. The ambience is nice, but there are nicer restaurants in New Orleans if you want to visit for the atmosphere.

I discovered Palace Cafe on TikTok, noting their gumbo was a must try! Naturally, this was where we had dinner our first night in NOLA. Beautiful restaurant, reservations highly recommended, we felt underdressed but no pressure as a lot of people were in casual wear or semi-casual. They have a bar located upstairs called the Black Duck. If I weren't pregnant I for sure would've liked to dine and drink up there. My husband and I got the Gumbo Yaya and St. Charles Pasta as our meals then finished off with their Crème Brûlée. The gumbo was flavorful but not overly salty as I've previously had elsewhere. Such an excellent comfort dish and very filling with their Louisiana Popcorn Rice. St. Charles pasta was creamy, well seasoned, and my husband fell in love with their Gulf Shrimp. He described it as meaty and so fresh, the smell after eating each one was just like the ocean. I can't relate as I don't do seafood LOL. Crème brûlée was a delight. Nothing extraordinary but that's the beauty of it. A creamy and slightly sweet custard with a perfectly hard caramelized sugar shell. Best part of this visit was we were sang to by two wonderful gentlemen! They were going around to each table singing a song personalized to their visit to NOLA. We said we were visiting for our Baby Moon. Highly recommend making it over here. We will be back again!

Hands down, a New Orleans staple. I had heard about the Palace Café and seen pictures which drew my friend and I to adding it to our restaurant list for our trip to New Orleans -- but you never know until you try a place whether their reputation is accurate or if it's just another "meh" tourist spot. Oh was I excited to find that the food, cocktails, ambiance and service were beyond what I had hoped for! The bar tender did a wonderful job with our off-menu cocktails (we had a hankering for a bourbon Sidecar), and our server was a friendly, helpful, attentive gentleman who provided wonderful recommendations for local music. The space is classy, beautiful, and a respite from the busyness outside and feels like a classic French restaurant. Then THE FOOD, people! The crab cheesecake (don't worry about it, just try it), the Turtle Soup, and the Cajun pasta dish were brilliant -- even the bread and butter were lovely. Some of the best food we had our entire trip! I'll say it again -- do yourself a favor and put this on your list of NOLA adventures!

Good spot on Canal Street. The crab cheesecake was very good. Also got the yaya gumbo and beef hash. Good service and food.

Went here for brunch at it was delicious. I wasn't sure what to expect but was pleasantly surprised. There was live music which was great. This is a very spacious space, perfect for a date or a large party. The staff was kind and informative and helped us in choosing our meals. I would recommend it to others

Very nice atmosphere with a little fancy touch. They have big windows so you can easily people watch while you eat! SERVICE: Our server was fabulous! Check on us often and helped me navigate a dairy allergy. FOOD: Also fabulous. I had the steak frites which was super tender and their house made sauce was super yummy. We needed the evening with the famous bananas foster. (Ice cream on the side so I could try it) yay! If you are staying at the JW it is right across the street. Go give them a try!

UNDERWHELMING!!! We managed to snag a last-minute reservation on a weekend night, but it seemed like walk-ins wouldn't have to wait long to be seated. Our server was attentive throughout the meal, which was appreciated. We ordered the Fried Green Tomato Caprese, Brasserie Burger, and Bananas Foster. The Fried Green Tomato Caprese was a creative and delicious twist on the classic dish--I'd highly recommend giving it a try. Unfortunately, the Brasserie Burger was a letdown. We ordered it medium rare, but it came out overcooked, which really ruined the experience. It's a shame because the Red Leicester cheese and garlic aioli seemed like they could've elevated the burger if it had been properly prepared. The biggest disappointment was the Bananas Foster, which was served with an unripe banana, making it practically inedible. Overall, the meal was underwhelming, and I wouldn't recommend this place.

Palace Cafe has the air of a fine dining restaurant with good food, however not as delicious as our previous visit. Upon walking in, the restaurant has a classy ambiance. The wait staff was very friendly and accomodating. We ordered a variation of the shrimp pasta (pasta st. Charles) as well as their brasserie burger either bacon and fries, both looked appetizing and were tasty! The one criticism was that the food from 1 year ago was much better than our food today. Unsure if theres been a change in the back of the kitchen, but the food was not as fantastic, but still good! I would give Palace cafe another chance if I returned to New Orleans.

I really enjoyed my meal here! The restaurant is nicely decorated and spacious! We did not have a reservation but they were able to take our party of 4 with no wait! The drinks were very good and strong as well.

Was recommended to try this spot by coworkers, and it definitely lived up to the hype. From the exceptional service from our server Juan to the delicious food, this place earns my full recommendation from me. The table side BANANAS FOSTER was undoubtedly the star of the show, literally. Not only was the presentation a fun spectacle, but the dessert itself was absolutely delicious. For the main, I decided to keep it light with the APPLE POMEGRANATE SALAD. I wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised how good it was that I actually cleaned the plate. As for appetizers, we tried the FRIED OYSTERS CHARTRES and the MOUSSE DE FOIE DE CANARD. Both were flavorful, but if I had to choose a favorite, it would be the duck liver mousse. I'll most definitely be back to try more dishes the next time I'm in NOLA.

This was one of the first places we went to dinner at in New Orleans and it did not disappoint. A local friend recommended this place. The tableside bananas foster dessert was the absolute best! So amazing and so good. If anything just go for this dessert. My friend had the pasta (very good she said) and we all split the fried green tomatoes, so yummy, and I also had the fish which was amazing of course as well. Service was spectacular and in a really nice dining area. My friend had a very fun tiki drink as well.

I love this place! Stopped by on a cold evening for dinner and was able to sit immediately. The inside is super pretty with a large spiral staircase - this is definitely a nicer sit-down restaurant. The service was great as well! I ordered the crabmeat cheesecake and the chicken piquante (fried chicken served with jambalaya). The crabmeat cheesecake is a MUST; the crunchy pecan crust combined with the light crab cake is the perfect combination. The Creole sauce layered on top of the cake was so rich and the perfect level of salty. I will be dreaming about this dish! The chicken piquante was tasty - super crispy and I thought the portion size was perfect. I also tried a few bites of the shrimp remoulade salad and really appreciated the freshness of the dish. I think they are famous for their bananas foster (which they flambé at the table) - I definitely wanted to try this! Maybe next time.

But I was welcomed in to the bar with one open seat. The staff was very welcoming with a bit of sarcasm, which is probably something that I look forward to everywhere. I asked for recommendations, having looked at the menu and they handed me another special menu of the day stating obviously I hadn't read the whole thing yet. I started with the snapper appetizer and I have Tse with the coconut lime broth. It was absolutely delicious, followed by the crawfish capellini. I was surprised by the amount of crawfish in the dish and the chili flavor, which was absolutely delicious. I have been hearing about the hush puppies for a while so I had to try some, especially because my colleague raved about it at dinner the night before. Lastly, I had the baked drum which was delicious light and flaky. The flavors were incredible. I personally thought that the bread was a little overly grilled and chard, but overall the dishes still pretty good. I cannot say more about the dessert. It's absolutely one of the best desserts I've had in a long time. The sticky carrot cake toffee cake with cream cheese ice cream was just on the next level. I would try to come here if I was in the area every time.

They were on the top of my list and a must have while in town. We arrived late afternoon and found the restaurant to be very large inside and to our surprise extremely quiet. We were seated right away and our server appeared soon after. We weren't sure if this was our final meal of the day, but ordered a dozen chargrilled oysters for a great start. Upon entering the restaurant, I noticed the large indoor grill with oysters on top. The chefs were grilling away and turned up the heat for a very fun show! When our platter arrived, some of the oysters were chargrilled more than others. I love them really charred so they were happy to accommodate me. One of the joys of eating chargrilled oysters is the bread you get for dipping into the sauce made with butter, garlic and cheese! After enjoying some very large, tasty oysters with that wonderful crusted bread, we couldn't eat another bite, until later ;-) . Because when in New Orleans, you gotta eat!!!
