Reservation for 5 people for Easter Brunch 2026. It took over 60 minutes for the food to show up, for one person it took 90 minutes. Two people had fried chicken and waffels. Chicken was dry and waffels were meh. One person received his waffel and berries very late and only after we reminded the waitress. When it was presented it looked like his waffel had been sitting a while; it was also served on a plate and then a sheet of aluminum foil which teared up easily and made it difficult to eat. The service was below expectations. Overall experience: not recommending for brunch, not worth the money spent. There are plenty better places around. Café Sibisa is an interesting spot in the New Orleans French Quarter and it claims to be one of the oldest restaurants in the city but the way they count that isn't accepted by most of the high holy counters so they generally don't get listed as one of the oldest on most of the New Orleans high holy fact lists. Café Sbisa is also quite popular for their brunch which typically has live music. It also seems not a lot of local New Orleans people frequent this restaurant and it seems there are a lot more tourists here than locals on average. Out of the really large number of people in New Orleans who I know have eaten at many of the restaurants in the city very few of them have ever been to Café Sbisa. Café Sbisa does have a very interesting and old building with some cool décor along with often hosting live music and they certainly have some good food. So the issue of merely "good" food might be one of the issues here as they do have some good food but the food at a lot of the other French Quarter restaurants is way better to my taste. This is certainly a fun and enjoyable place to pass a good time and the second floor balcony seating gets a great view while it is also a bit cramped and not as comfortable as other restaurants spaces. My first visit to this spot was in 2020 and I really did enjoy my experience, the service, the music and my food here. I haven't yet made a second visit even though I really have intended to go back but there are just so many places I like more and so many new places opening I haven't tried yet it just has never happened for me to make a return visit. At this point I still would enjoy a return visit but for the moment I can say it certainly isn't going to be anytime soon. During the holiday seasons (which NOLA has MANY) my group of friends tends to end up at a certain number of places that we have just always returned to over the years. We do rotate spaces sometimes but Café Sbisa has not yet ever come up on our rotation although I would be perfectly happy if it did. So overall while I like Café Sbisa and I would recommend it there are just a lot of places I like a lot more so my visits will honestly be infrequent as we just have so many AMAZING choices in NOLA. It had been four long years since our last visit to New Orleans and we were very glad to return to our favorite dining spot. Our ride share could only get us close to Cafe Sbisa due to Decatur street in their vicinty being a construction project - only a few more steps (just wish we had brought an umbrella with us!) Our server Kevin was friendly and diligent. We enjoyed some finely prepared cocktails and my wife's favorite dish (herb roasted chicken) was good as remembered. Came here December 13th 2024 close by our timeshare in the Eastern section of French quarter far away from canal Street. I believe they are closed Monday through Thursday so we came here on a Friday. Luxurious surroundings and excellent ambience. Definitely a high-end restaurant. The $20 blue crab cakes were just okay as could have had more crab and less filler. Not as flavorful as other places. The $30 Courtbouillon was a creole bouillabaisse with fish ,gulf shrimp, crawfish tails and mussels in a spicy Creole sauce. Wife normally does not like mussels but ate the entire dish down to the last spoonful, it was that good. The $36 trout Eugene came with fillet of trout covered with Louisiana shrimp, crawfish tails, and crab in a champagne cream sauce, which gave the white fish added flavor .Probably the best trout I have ever tasted. Shout out to my Yelp friend Jurel for his awesome review of this establishment! I've been to New Orleans many times and had never heard of this restaurant prior to reading Jurel's review. We arrived about noon on a Sunday for the jazz brunch. We didn't have reservations and were seated promptly. To start, I ordered a sidecar. It was fabulous! Sidecars are so simple, yet so many restaurants mess them up. The cocktail was very strong as well, which I didn't mind at all. I wanted to try everything, so I got a few dishes. First, I started with the seafood gumbo. It was absolutely delicious. It was seasoned very well and a few dashes of tobasco took it over the top. I also ordered the oysters sbisa which are fried oysters topped with cream spinach, hollandaise and bacon. And lastly I got the shrimp remoulaude that was served over fried green tomatoes. Really authentic Cajon. As one young server said "...it's like going to your Louisiana grandma's house...in a uniquely NOLA setting." For instance. Take a look at these mirrors. These mirrors today would be a fortune to replace. Then noticed the discoloration. That is from storms and water and humidity. This is the real deal. This is as authentic as you can get. Honestly, everything about this place was great! Our table was ready right on time, it was clean, the staff was top-notch, and the food and cocktails were excellent with so many options to choose from. The ambiance was a bit moody and dim, but very welcoming. I'd been wanting to try this spot after seeing it recommended in the NOLA food group on Facebook, and it truly did not disappoint. My friend and I went with the Coolinary menu, and it was fantastic. I love a refreshing fruit salad, and the catfish--both blackened and fried--were equally delicious. Every single dish had so much flavor: the étouffée, the grits, all of it!!! The dessert was also great! The bourbon milk punch was rich but tasty, and the pecan pie with ice cream hit the spot. Walking by we heard some soft, jazzy blues being played and sung, that drew us in. Notice a ribeye steak and eggs on the brunch menu, but it was 830 at night. We were able to quickly get same day reservations for a large group (10) which was nice since. We were celebrating a friend's 50th birthday and plans changed at the last minute. For most of us, it was our first time at Cafe Sbisa though I had heard many great things previously. The service was great and so was the food. I made a last minute reservation to Cafe Sbisa and was glad I did. Upon entering, the live jazz band contributed to their lovely ambiance. The service was immaculate and the wait staff were attentive and helpful in their recommendations. I had the Bayou Crabcake and Eggs. The crabcake was very flavorful and rich, and not over filled with breading. There were large pieces of crab inside. My only regret was that I would have preferred a little bit less of the hollandaise sauce. The Chicken and Waffles were amazing. Unfortunately, my husband's surf and turf arrived with a very undercooked steak. These things happen, so he politely asked for the steak to be replaced. Instead of resolving the issue, the manager came to the table and was surprisingly rude, engaging in an argument rather than offering a solution. The interaction was embarrassing and unprofessional, and my husband ultimately left hungry because the manager refused to replace the steak. Despite this, we were still required to pay the full $40 for the dish. We sat up on 2nd floor overlooking the bar and in full view of the George Dureau mural. Cafe Sbisa offers some delicious New Orleans style meals. I had the trout and the sauce really made the dish. Service was spotty particularly for the server assistants. How many times do you need to ask for a fork when yours was taken away. The assistant did not bother to keep the water filled. These service mishaps detracted from what would have been a wonderful meal. Cafe Sbisa has a cozy cafe feel to it even though it is relatively large. The lighting is cozy and there is some beautiful artwork in the space. Our waitress was nice and attentive, which set the scene for the service. We started off with the best, most buttery, perfectly toasted French bread ever. It melted in your mouth. I started off with the oyster sbisa, they were just ok. I felt like something was missing. Now we had the white glove treatment for our entrees. They all came out ay the same time. We were a party of 5 and our meals were place now in front of us at the same time. Awesome. My entree was steak frites. Delicious. Tender steak, fries were crispy and I ate those left overs as soon as I got to the hotel. My friend has the pork chop and cannot stop talking about it. I visited my favorite city in the world this past weekend and I'm still dreaming about the delicious meal I had. The omelette I ordered was perfection, I mean an omelette doesn't sound too exciting but this omelette was on a different level! It had crawfish, shrimp, and crab meat and the egg was perfectly fluffy, I will be dreaming about this omelette for days to come. Their menu is French-Creole and this was one of our most expensive meals although we didn't order a lot. The food took an extremely long time to come out and they only gave us one round of starter bread. Considering my hunger level coupled with the long wait, I wish they would have come around with refills of the bread. I ordered the Paneed Veal with parsley lemon pepper crust over angel hair pasta topped with jumbo lump crabmeat and lemon caper butter. Oh my goodness, it was so good.
