We made a reservation and wanted to rush in especially since we heard they were closing. I'm really not sure why we needed reservations especially since the restaurant was only about 40% occupied. Our waitress was nice and attentive for the most part. She was a bit chatty but still nice. The menu wasn't extensive at all. The waitress did a good job at selling many of the menu options. I initially had the chicken with carrots and brussel sprouts. The vegetables were perfectly cooked and flavored well. The chicken however was very dry. When the waitress asked how it was, I told her how dry it was and she immediately bright me something else, which was the fish and chips. The fish was hot, crispy, and cooked to perfection. It was tender, however it lacked flavor and seasoning. I asked for hot sauce but never received it. I finally decided to ask for a to go box to take the remaining piece home. The chips "fries" were great. They were freshly cut real potato fries. They were hot and seasoned well. My significant other had the shrimp and grits which he thoroughly enjoyed. As an appetizer we had the salad. Seemed simple and basic enough but was actually very good. I'm unsure of the dressing it was tossed in but it was just enough and well flavored. We skipped on dessert. We considered the cookie plate but since nobody could tell us what kind of cookies they were, so we decided to pass. The best part about our dining experience was the ambiance. The music was nice and the decor was vibrant and swanky . I also had a mocktail flavored with pineapple, jalapeno, lime, mint, and cilantro. It was refreshing. I'm glad we had a chance to check it out before closing but I can honestly say there was no "WOW" factor and likely I wouldn't have been in a hurry to come back. read more

It has taken awhile for me to get to Justine, because I'm such a fan of its colleague, La Petite Grocery, I often end up there. A mistake. Justine is special. The room is amazing. The service so friendly, and efficient. And the food, double wows, creative, ton of flavors, nothing out of place. So glad I finally made it, for Easter Sunday brunch no less. We started with cocktails, solid and refreshing. The small plates with fun--beignets with a great sauce and shrimp remoulade that was different in its white remoulade but truly fresh chilled shrimp. Street parking only, very chill and casual atmosphere. We came here during COOLinary with the pre fixe menu. The food was top notch and the drinks were even better! I am all about that espresso martini trend and Justine's did not disappoint. They had non-alcoholic creamsicle drinks but thankfully they allowed us to order a couple with alcohol. We tried one with tequila and the other with rum. I can't remember which was better but something tells me it was the rum. We were staying outside the Quarter, but close enough that we could walk here. We were greeted right away and they had our reservation ready and knew of some food allergies that wee have and made sure the kitchen was aware of them. We had drinks while perusing the menu and decided on a Gem salad with fried oysters and hen we split the fresh catch of the day. Snapper, fried light with haricot verts and a beurre blanc sauce was just what we were looking for. What a beautiful restaurant, with amazing food to boot! The best shrimp and grits I had in New Orleans, and the most amazing dirty martinis with blue cheese olives. My one complaint is that they seemed under-staffed. Food took a long time to arrive and the staff seemed flustered. I asked for a glass of wine and the waiter said he would send over a sommelier, but 10 min later said the somm was too busy. The glass of white I was given was lukewarm and he said they didn't have a chilled bottle on hand. So that was a not very nice part but otherwise the experience was great. read more

I was recently visiting New Orleans with a co worker and we stopped in one night for dinner. Specifically, we were there on a random Tuesday night and there was quite a bit of business, which says a lot to me as Tuesday nights tend to be on the slower side. Justine's is a cool location. It looks small from the outside. but is much larger once inside. They have an indoor/outdoor seating area and then the restaurant has a front seating area, then bar top seating to face the kitchen and then a larger back room area. We were seated in this back room area. My co worker ordered a martini and I a Diet Coke. and I also ordered a Diet Coke. He ordered escargot. "No thanks," said I, "but you go ahead." He said they were very good. They arrived in a sizzling parsley-garlic butter. They smelled really good, but still a nope for me. For dinner, we both ordered the Justine Burger. It was a very good burger and it happened to be the first place that has ever actually melted the gruyere cheese on the burger. It was a very good burger. I'm part of a burger club and this was one of the better burgers I've had. You could taste the meat and to me, that's incredibly important, as if the burger itself is not part of the flavor profile of the "sandwich". In this case, you could taste everything and all of it was incredibly good! I then ordered the vanilla creme brulee (when in the French Quarter...) and it was very good too. While waiting for my order at the milkshake place across the street, I wandered over to Justine's. Despite feeling slightly underdressed for such an elegant setting, I was greeted warmly, like an old friend coming back home. We enjoyed this appetizer! It was firm and tasted like a mild salty mushroom if you're wondering about what it tastes like! Hanger steak -This was delicious. We ordered it to be cooked at medium rare and that's what we received! Topped with peppercorn sauce, it gave the dish a more sharp and slightly spicy notes of black pepper. I fully intended to try the Elysian Spritz and the Pink Peppercorn Paloma as well but the Lavender Royale was so good, I stuck with it. I was with fellow foodies, one who works at Justine, and they both said the burger was the best in the French Quarter. The Justine burger comes with a half pound patty, gruyère, arugula, sauce au poivre, and hand cut fries. Although I loved it, I started with the steak tartare and I haven't gotten over it yet. I love steak tartare and I haven't found a finer one in the city: The menu says fresh horseradish, dijon dressing, egg yolk, pain de mie all mixed in with the chopped steak but the toast it's served with is legendary. read more

Nice for a cute night out or date night. Service was great and pretty fast. I do wish the menu was a bit longer. The French Quarter has so many hidden gems and Justine is one of them. With vibrant murals on the walls this place exudes character. I came here for a private party. We were a table of 3 and waited over an hour for our food with no explanation. When it finally came, two of the dishes were cold -- the fried chicken sandwich had a bun that tasted like it came straight from the refrigerator, the fries were old and cold, and the shrimp and grits were the same. The burger came out 10 minutes after the other two plates and was flavorless. We sent two dishes back, and they did replace them fairly quickly - which suggests they replaced the dishes with someone else's order, had extra, or reheated them. Our server was nonchalant about everything and did not offer an explanation or apology. Do not waste your time or money here. read more

What I ate was watered down and I felt like it was flavored with kitchen bouquet. I ordered the daily fish. It was redfish. Nothing spectacular. It was supposed to have a lemon butter sauce on it but maybe there was a tsp of that under the green beans? I asked to swap the green beans for the Brussels that came with another dish and was told no. My husband ordered the strip. It was uneventful except he ordered the Mac and cheese and never got it. Our waitress disappeared for about 15 minutes at one point so we never told her and were running late for a House of Blues concert so we just paid and left. Totally underwhelming. The snail is tender and not gamey. Fried chicken sandwich avec frites: crispy marinaded fried chicken, pickles, brioche bread. Frites come with a French mustard and ketchup dips. Also recommend the shrimp and creamy grits. The best I had so far at NOLA. Shrimps are fresh and clean. Broken rice grits are creamy and silky texture. We didn't have a reservation, so we were seated at the bar which turned out great! We had 2 amazing bartenders that made sure we were well taken cared of. I had a expresso martini and my husband got the bartender's choice which was a mezcale drink created by one of their bartenders. It was so good! I'm not a mezcale fan, but this drink would definitely changed one's mind. We ordered the Wild Boar Bolanese and the Wagyu Flank Steak with fries. My fries were overly fried IMO, but the steak was fantastic and made up for it. It had a demi glaze that was "chef's kiss". We ended our fabulous meal with a Vanilla Creme Brulee. The French onion soup was also very good but I thought it was just a little too salty. I got the halibut and it came out smelling so fishy but thankfully it tasted alright. My friend and I recently tried Justine for Coolinary Month. They had a curated menu of three courses, the third being a dessert, for $45 and a wine pairing that cost extra. Beware of the wine pairing, the menu said the wine pairing was $20 and we made the mistake of thinking this meant all three wines were $20 total, turns out it meant that they were $20 each! For my three courses, I chose the Mac & Brie, the Justine Burger, and the Meringue Cloud. They were all good, but maybe not the best. The Mac & Cheese was cheese overload with cheese upon cheese, but somehow the noodles in the middle still lacked a flavor or texture? The Justine Burger was a nice burger, there was too much arugula on top and the bun wasn't as toasted as I would prefer. The fries were good though, they came with a gravy sauce and the waiter brought out another sauce that was quite good! The Meringue was a good finish to the night, I made sure to finish the strawberries as I was quite full by the time the dessert came out. Drinks: We had the 3 Wine Pairings for the Coolinary Menu. The first two were quite good (not $20 good), but we could have done without the dessert wine. Happy Hour: I don't think so. They open at 5pm and I couldn't find a Happy Hour menu on their website. Service: Great! We had two waiters during the night. The first one was very knowledgeable about the food and what made them so unique and flavorable. Our water was kept filled throughout the night. Parking: The French Quarter can be tough to find parking. It may be easier to take public transportation. Pets: Not a pet friendly restaurant. Outside Seating: I didn't see any. read more
