I am giving Kandy's five stars. Being able to witness my people provide excellent customer service, being young and being professional and welcoming is always a plus even if the food isn't the best, but the food was very good. It was the best crab cake I ever had. Filled with lump crab meat and flavor was in every bite. The warm sour dough bread a butter as good. The French onion soup was good but still nothing beats New York's French onion soups. I'm not a fan of m risotto but anyway order the Shrimp risotto to go and it was good though definitely try this spot read more

I had such high hopes for this place. My experience here was not the best. The food was okay , it's nothing to go crazy over. . It would have been better if the food was hot and not luke warm. To say the food took forever to come out I was expecting for it to be hotter. I'm try not to complain about prices but for the amount I paid the food I received wasn't worth it . The mac and cheese was like someone sprinkles shredded cheese on top of noddles . It wasn't creamy , the cheese was stiff . The lamp chops were okay but It wasn't hot and again for the price I paid and time I've waited. I would have liked for my food to be hot! A few of us stopped by Kandy's for dinner. My friend heard good things but since it's new, hadn't had a chance to try it out yet. We both started out with the gumbo which was delicious! He also had the crab cake which he thought was good but not amazing. I had the wagyu and fries for dinner. It was so juicy and good! It's a large burger so I ended up taking it home. Visited here for an anniversary dinner and had a great time! Atmosphere was perfect for date night and super vibey; establishment had a dimmer light and jazz/instrumental r&b music playing. Did need full party to be seated but wait was minimal since my husband was only parking the car. Complimentary bread and butter was provided while waiting for appetizer however bread was not warm. Drinks were well crafted. Ordered the crab and crawfish bake as an appetizer and had the crab cake, double wagyu cheeseburger and crusted drum which were delicious as entrees. Cheeseburger was ordered well done but came out medium well; not a major issue in taste for me but hubs prefers a well done cook temp. My family and I went here for Father's Day with reservations and no availability table for 30min. Hostess did apologize and spoke with manager to get us seating. Our waiter greeted us , but we ere informed the dishes we came to try was out.Our appetizer was Crab and crawfish bake and wedges salad it was good. I treated my dad and brother to this place for Father's Day. It's a cute black owned restaurant downtown. There is a parking lot next door. The ambiance was nice. The staff was very attentive. They had ran out of champagne since they had just opened on that Wednesday, but that was fine because I still enjoyed my drink which had honey and bourbon. We had the crab and crawfish bake, crab cake, Rockefeller oysters and spinach & gruyère gratin. All of which were delicious. We did wish they gave more bread with the bake. I was very impressed with the size of the crab cake and that it was mostly lump crab meat and minimal filler. My dad had the seafood platter which looked delicious. My sister and sister in law had the Steak Frites. They both said they found the steak to not be seasoned well. My brother and I had the 10oz double wagyu cheeseburger which was really good. Our waiter, Remy, was very accommodating, friendly, and attentive. The Chef and owner herself, came to our table to introduce herself and I must say, she is amazing. She has created an amazing atmosphere that creates a quaint and cozy dining experience. For the food, i had the Wagyu Burger, wedge salad and the crab dip. In New Orleans for a business trip so I looked up Kandy's and saw it was a short 4 minute walk so I decided to try it out. Upon walking in I stood at the podium for a few minutes while waitstaff just continued to carry on. A short line formed and then I was seated a the bar. The young lady working the bar was not friendly and spent a lot of time speaking to a young man who they said worked there as a bartender as well. I ordered a wedge salad without bacon and it came out with bacon so it was a delay to get it remade. I also ordered a baked potato and spinach dip (the bread wasn't fresh/warm) but I would rate it a 5/10. The bar area has a lot of gnats so it was hard to be able to enjoy my food comfortably as I had to continue to wave my hand to move the gnats around. Overall I would give this establishment a 4.5/10 because the customer service was not good. read more
