Just an amazing, easy to write ***** review - in my opinion. We went with a party of 7 on Mardi Gras - got stuck in parade traffic and 1/2 party was 30 minutes late. No problems w N7 - thank you. Server and Som were great - friendly, knew the menu (food and wine) inside and out, giving great suggestions. The food timing was just right for our large party given how many items ordered (on a very busy night). Our sommelier picked perfect pairings. As a table we order probably 12 different dishes +desert to share (this is way to go imo) and each was amazing in its own way. Unique sweet savory salty combos and great presentations. I am not going to go into details as it has been covered in photos and other reviews. The outside ambience was perfect with heat lamps - on a chilly night no one needed a coat. The lighting was soft/perfect and once you entered into the wooden door you are transported into a different world. I would recommend this for family, business meeting or date night. I came to New Orleans a few years back & my friend told me I had to check out this place and I guess it never left my mind. We made reservation. We had the smallest table - it was hard to fit multiple dishes including drinks on it. The flies were everywhere. The outside is super stinking cute. We ordered the watermelon salad, some special crab dip, shrimp, the steak, creme brûlée, and the chocolate dessert. The pork In the crab dip was so over powering I couldn't taste the crab. Also our server was lacking. I would've ordered more drinks but he was too slow. The only things I would order again were the shrimp (royal reds) and the crème brûlée. read more

Ten years later and N7 has transformed itself into the most beautiful patio and restaurant in the Marigny/Bywater. And it still feels like you wandered into a private magical hideaway. My husband and I came in on a recent Sunday evening without reservations for a drink so we opted for the bar, but really, there's not a spot in the place that doesn't afford a gorgeous view. Inside, you feel like you might be on the French countryside. The ambiance is literally everything for me, however as there really isn't anything substantial that is plant-based (like most traditional French cuisine). And do expect to pay dearly for that glorious atmosphere. We had two beers and two glasses of wine and it's rare that I am surprised by the check these days, but here I am. Headed to an improv club in Bywater, we decided to take a chance and see if we could have a bite at N7 before the show. To our delight, the reception person checked and found a perfect spot for us to sit. Our first time there. Literally a hidden gem. Front door very disguised! Wow. They must have music for cocktail hour because there was a great jazz group playing outside. They stopped shortly after 7 PM. We ordered our cocktails and dinner at the same time. The way it was really really nice. I had a glass of wine, Johnny had a martini. My glass of Chardonnay was $26! I was shocked. The martini was $19. Both we felt were too expensive. We ordered the bok choy appetizer and the pomme frittes with bearnaise dipping sauce. Delish. We both had the scallop appetizer. Three nice size scallops on each plate. If you are looking for a place with a ton of romantic atmosphere and an exceptional wine list but mediocre service and food that is good, but not great, then this is the place for you. I felt that every dish we tried was just lacking a little something. Also the wait staff seemed a bit overwhelmed and we waited a long time for our last course which was a cheese board they seemed to forget to bring out. The staff really needs to read Unreasonable Hospitality by Will Guidara. I'm not sure it was worth the $50 uber ride or the $279 we spent. Note: for anyone visiting for the first time - it's in a residential neighborhood and not very well marked - kind of hidden behind a tall brown fence - with a sign that is nearly impossible to see. Covered patio seating on a rainy day with eight friends went about as well as one would expect, in terms of the space; it wasn't comfortable, but it's always great to dine with friends. We came in for dinner a couple nights ago. The cocktails were on point. Because our group was so large, we had to do a $80/person tasting menu. Everything I tried was fine, like an avocado salad or a chicken dish that was well cooked but somewhat bland in terms of flavor. The scallops were better than fine, and in many ways our table had hoped for more than a single scallop per person. Alas, tasting menus!! I am now forgetting what the dessert was, but the entire three-person end of my table took one bite and pushed the dish back to the center of the table. Not great. I'm surprised to say that nothing else from the food portion of the meal was a standout. Not recommended, especially for the price. read more

A beautiful date night experience! We spent our Valentine's night here, and the service was great. It was our first time, so our waiter made sure to explain everything to us. N7 is an amazingly vibrant and moody restaurant in the bywater. Need help with the entrance? It's behind the garden wall. It feels so intimate, like walking into someone's backyard. The garden was especially cute to sit in at nighttime, but we opted for indoor seating, which was still just as chic! Our server walked us through the menu, and all the wait staff were extremely catering and helpful. Our service was great through the entire course! For appetizers, we had the pomme frites (I loved how the aïoli had a hint of orange) and beet salad. Absolutely delicious! For our entrees, we both settled with the duck and it was just as amazing. N7 has been long on my bucket list of places to go and wow, this place was so cool and totally fits the vibes of the hipster Bywater Neighborhood. I came here for brunch and the the ambiance was absolutely amazing. There is no signage on the outside and you walk through this black door and the enterance feels as if you are walking into a secret garden. Food was also pretty good and very unique flavors. We started with the salmon confit and had roasted beets and citrus and I loved all of the flavors in the dish. Afterwards, we had an omelette with mushrooms and it was great. The fried chicken in the Hokkaido sandwich was also lovely. I would love to come here in the evening too because I could also imagine the vibe also being wonderful. This was the most amazing food I've ever had. I didn't care much for the French onion because I'm just partial to the way I make it. The crouton held the broth well and the cheese was amazing. Have been hearing great things about this place for over a year now and we finally made it here to check it out! This place is a cute little courtyard in Bywater that has the feel of being in a French Courtyard in France. The food was incredible, my table, and I had the muscles, escargot, pomme frites, French onion soup, I had the omelette with the salad, and we had a few of their wines and champagne's. We also decided to splurge in order every dessert, and it was incredible! We enjoyed the soy sauce, crème brûlée, and the Pavlova the best, but the others were very tasty as well. I wanted to try the Matcha granola, but didn't for some reason, but next time I'll have to try that. Very unique place. I've been to speakeasy bars but this is the first speakeasy restaurant I've had the chance to visit. You have to know it's there, otherwise you might just walk by. It's in the middle of a residential neighborhood with no sign behind a tall wood fence. One you enter, there are different seating options. We started off at the bar, which is very small, maybe 5 seats total, then moved to the garden seating. They have a small cocktail menu but I opted for the Last word and it was great. I wasn't too hungry so I just ordered the scallops. Good but nothing remarkable. If you're ever in Nola, give this place a try. Very unique experience. read more

Came with friends for brunch on the weekend, and I was definitely impressed by the ambience of sitting outside in the garden. My friend made a reservation and planned for us to have brunch here, which happens Friday's, Saturday's, and Sunday's. We went family style on all of our appetizers and mains: beet salad, Brussel sprout salad, duck pate, salmon confit, croque madame, salmon sandwich, Hokkaido fried chicken sandwich. All good, but our collective favorite had to be the fried chicken sandwich. I would say what stood out the best was how nice it was to sit outside with all of the flowers and natural lighting. Behind a tall dark door is an absolute oasis, with brilliant spaces and brilliant food. I was there for a wedding but a wonderful lunch was served, with many of the dishes the place is famous for; BBQ shrimp, so fresh, so tangy Coq au reisling, wow, the combination of fresh cut veggies, bacon, and chicken in a rich sauce. A real highlight Grilled romaine salad--a must, among the best I've had Avocado salad, everyone devoured it Vegetarian taste flambé. Quite the surprise. A lot going on taste wise and all good. Ugh if I could give a 4.5 I would because this place was so darn charming with the most beautiful garden setting I have seen in the longest time! My husband and I were in town for a brief 48 hours and wanted to grab lunch somewhere a bit calm, removed and quaint. N7 seemed to hit all those marks and had a great brunch/lunch menu for Fri-Sun. I made a reservation online a couple weeks in advance so no difficulty getting a table. They do warn you that if you choose the uncovered portion of the garden, they may need to cancel your resy pending any rain/weather issues. I was too nervous that it would randomly sprinkle so chose the covered area where you can still gaze at the garden but are more sheltered from the elements. Service was super kind and helpful and I loved the mix of small bites and drinks. I grabbed a malbec rose and a latte, both of which were great! For shared items, my husband and I had the soup du jour (Moroccan spiced squash with pesto -- INCREDIBLE), the brussel sprouts salad (also great!), and the pomme frites -- any menu with a fried potato has me ordering it, but these were delicious with a great aioli on the side. For larger bites, my omnivore husband grabbed the salmon confit and I had the tomato confit croque monsieur. I will say the croque monsieur was good....but not great. It was an elevated grilled cheese on slightly sweet white bread which I wasn't anticipating. Ambience is beautiful, prices are fair for the quality, and service is so incredibly kind. This will be staying on my New Orleans list for future visits 5sure! read more

What a fun and delicious hidden gem! I found this through Yelp when I was looking for a date night dinner. The place itself was a little bit confusing to find I must say, but once you get past the gates, you're greeted by a cute garden which must be so night to dine at during the night! I had opted for the indoor dining and it is just as cute, although a bit dark. I had the Bouillabaisse which was delicious and I was intrigued by the mayo that was provided on the side. It definitely made the soup taste more rich. I tried the Frog Legs Karaage as well and it was nicely crispy and fried. I love frog legs but it's hard to find usually so I was happy to see it here. Our eyes were a bit bigger than our stomachs and we ordered the Duck and Fig Tartes Flambees and this cold soup with watermelon. The duck and fig was essentally on a fried flatbread, almost like a pizza. I don't think we needed it, but if I were here with friends, this is a great dish to share! I enjoyed the watermelon soup as well, it was interesting and something I haven't really tasted before. Overall, great experience and shout out to the servers! They noticed I had gotten some oil stains on my dress from the Bouillabaisse and she got me some salt and seltzer water which when you rub on the stain, it actually does help remove it! I'll start with the positives.. I have to say the food is beyond incredible, the menu is very unique and authentic French cuisine. Some of the best food I've had in New Orleans. Secondly, the ambiance was incredible. I loved how they have plenty of outdoor seating in a backyard garden, you almost forget you're in New Orleans and for a minute think you're in Europe! They did a wonderful job at creating a European feel. Sadly, the service was terrible, and it actually ruined my friend's birthday. Our server was rude and incredibly dismissive; he even came over to ask how things were and we said " not good" and all he said was " okay" and walked away. I understand waiters having bad days but he had zero regards for his customers despite it being a slow Monday night. We had so many issues- them bringing wrong dishes, cooking the birthday girl's steak well done despite her ordering it medium rare, bringing a onion soup out at the end so the cheese was firm/ crusty and not stringy, and the kitchen was so behind and took forever to bring out food. We ended up dining at the restaurant for over 3 hours because that's how long it took for our food to come out despite it being a slow Monday and a small party. Not once did the waiter acknowledge the delays and he didn't even acknowledge my friend's birthday despite us notifying him and the restaurant. Overall the food was amazing and the ambiance was other worldly, so I really want to give this place another chance. I'm hoping what we experienced was just a fluke. If I get the same server again I will request a different server. This place would be 10/10 if they revamped their customer service. read more

This is a gorgeous garden setting and when we were there in late April, everything was in bloom so that was extra special. The food is good. Some things were very good and others not so much. The mushroom soup of the day was decent. The warm crusty bread was excellent as was the creamy avocado salad. I would go back just for those two things. Tarts are really flatbread pizzas and the veggie one was quite good. The one with meat had chunks of lard, and we found it an unappetizing. The chicken entrée was good, but nothing special. We had a couple of desserts, including chocolate one both were good. Service was friendly. The outdoor setting is very special, but I think I would go there for drinks and apps next time. read more

The hostess was extremely condescending and rude. Her attitude alone ensured that I will never return. It's baffling that an establishment would hire someone in a guest-facing role who clearly lacks basic people skills and carries such a negative, unwelcoming demeanor. What makes it even more frustrating is that the restaurant was half empty, yet we were treated as if accommodating us was an inconvenience. I was able to check OpenTable and see that reservations were available, which only makes the situation more confusing. Turning guests away or treating them poorly when there are open tables is a great way for a business to lose money and loyal customers. First impressions matter, and unfortunately the hostess set a terrible tone. Because of this experience, I won't be returning. read more

Food and service here was fantastic. There's a great vegetarian selection Nd every item I ordered was delicious. The special parsnip soup had a nice ginger kick and was seasoned well. The tempura cauliflower was scrumptious and paired well with the cheese sauce and carrot archar which the eater had the flexibility to integrate.
